I'd figure out how to get it back. You could eventually be sued for keeping it, not to mention it just isn't nice.

I dunno why a lot is jumping in both exchanges and mining pools but yet no one is jumping for something like amazon-btc or ebay-btc. Do we have to wait so long for someone genius enough to create the first successful online merchant-market then we all start copying it ?
The only reason you are scared of them copying Bitcoin is because of personal greed. I think it would be great if large merchandizers adopted a distributed crypto-currency that is not under their control. Sorry, but do I sound like afraid of having more online merchants? I said I wish I can see more and more! in fact I hope the rally for opening new exchanges and mining pools redirect to be a rally on opening new online merchants !. Sorry, just woke up... I completely misread you. My apologies.

-1 for thread. Pointless discussion.

The only reason you are scared of them copying Bitcoin is because of personal greed. I think it would be great if large merchandizers adopted a distributed crypto-currency that is open source. If it isn't distributed, have cryptographic functions, and open source, then it is worse in comparison anyways.

I have no fear of the USA going broke. Sure prices will rise and the USD will become the next peso. So what? Simply demand higher remuneration for labor to make up for inflation.
What do you mean, 'so what'? I don't want all my services to cost more (heat, electricity, cell-phone, cable, etc) because of idiotic libertarian ideals.

What would you say to a group effort to purchase a micronation as base for bitcoin. Billionares could fly in like an bank branch for bitcoin. Because we are all going to be billionaires with bitcoin Micro-nations with modern infrastructure (service provider with undersea cable, 3G, airports, hospital, paved roads, etc.) would be prohibitively expensive. Also we are a free web-forum, not an organization.

Here's a sign that the market is turning around. The MACD and its indicator are crossing over for the first time since mid-June. Good time to buy in my opinion. I would except that I already spent a lot on Bitcoins and can't afford to take more risk.

would it be possible to make something (p2p application) that would be distributed on miners computers ? they would host it , and through that network to run the exchange
How would you transfer the dollars?

How do you make sure that the people actually have the USD they are trading for BC.
Exactly. The edges are where it falls apart. Not sure how to address this. You could have a decentralized 'reputation' for each address that's used for trading, maybe.

These are fascinating graphs. Thanks for sharing.

Yes It is very interesting times, I can't help but keep checking the price of the bitcoin. I must admit, part of me wants it to go lower because I missed the boat on this one.
Probably my favorite quote on this forum.

Haven't you seen the massive sell-offs? Some of your claims are false.

The reality is bitcoin is NOT gold. it can't be used for anything other than currency. USD can inflate 100 times (against tangible real assets) but it doesn't mean 1 BTC will be worth 100 times of its current value.
no it means that 1 btc will be worth 150 times its current value Judging by current price action, it's unlikely. I believe it's heavily overvalued now (until it's been widely adopted by the general public). there is still getting more users of the currency, which means: more demand. Then why is the price so slow? Define "slow". It was under 8 a little over a month ago.

What about a barter system?

Notice the lack of replies from "Global Standard Bank" to basic due diligence questions, questions where the accuracy of the response can be checked.
The previous questions about faked pictures were answered by hand-waving. That's not good enough for an organization which claims to be "a new truly global bank for a new global world".
This appears to be a scam operation until proven otherwise.
Nobody has reported being scammed yet, and they are at least (now) making an effort towards legitimacy, so I don't want to be too harsh on them. However, I agree that they have been misleading which I take very seriously from a business. Bitcoin has a very vulnerable economy right now and I don't want to see it tarnished.

Also brand new seller accounts are auctioned off now, so you have to pay a lot to get one.

Everyone lives in very separate locations, so each 'sting' would cost thousands of dollars per college kid to arrest in coordinated efforts, and some would fail because the address recipient wasn't the drug buyer.
edit:
Nobody has explained yet how the police could get good feedback, which is necessary to make lots of sales. Are they going to hack the site? lol
This is trivial. Bust a drug dealer, offer him or her prosecution immunity in return for setting up sting op. Done deal. So meanwhile the drug dealer is still selling drugs to maintain good feedback?? Bro, listen. I already explained this. Take 12 agents. Have 1 agents pretend to sell many times to the other 11 and have the 11 leave glowing feedback. It does not take much to get reputation on SR. Have you visited it? http://ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion/ via Tor. And then two other people try to buy drugs and it drops below 100%. Sting fails. No, that's not how SR works. If you try to buy something from a dealer, he doesn't have to oblige and future buyers don't require that certain other buyers have already left positive feedback. It just takes some good reputation to lure in a buyer, and it doesn't take much. If nobody buys from the dealer, then they can't get in trouble. But they will. They will see that he is offering good prices and has reputation. They don't know ahead of time whether it is a sting. Then they can leave negative feedback.
