665  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I withdraw my USD from Gox or go ahead and buy? on: July 31, 2012, 06:52:59 PM
I have told my friends and this forum to buy at $2.99 and $5.  I bought more at $8.5.  Some of us are in an investment program and we buy x amount every month.

I have been telling my friends to buy since 4.70. None of them have, but if they did at any time since then, they would still have made a profit.
666  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BTC-e Trading Resumed | Bitinstant <--> BTC-E Enabled now on: July 31, 2012, 06:47:57 PM
I'm shocked at how well this has been handled (so far).

So well, in fact, that we may start seeing conspiracies crop up about how btc-e hacked their own site to show how well they handled it.  Roll Eyes
667  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I withdraw my USD from Gox or go ahead and buy? on: July 31, 2012, 05:43:20 PM
I buy, buy, buy, no matter what the price is. I try to never be too exposed on the usd side.

The day silk road goes down, we are all gonna be hurting.

There are currently <20 BTC total depth, with roughly $200,000 USD worth of buy orders  Roll Eyes

I'll give you 5 BTC for it.

Take this before the exchange is shut down and your claims are buried forever.

677  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 30, 2012, 10:56:32 PM
Pirate's returns are high because the market hasn't been saturated yet, and the market itself is also growing rapidly - two factors that synergistically amplify the growth rate.

If all Pirate is doing is facilitating bitcoin market growth, then in the long run, doesn't he end up shooting himself in the foot as prices rise and he continues to buy back in to repay lenders? Wouldn't all bitcoin holders benefit the same, due to the eventually price correction (rise)? It seems like the main theory out there (besides ponzi) is that he is simply bypassing the public market for a premium. But all of those bitcoins will come back around in the end.

What I'm trying to say is, isn't that a zero-sum game?
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: July 30, 2012, 10:39:05 PM
at all time highest difficulty (2 million +).....I would be very cautious in trying to sell bitcoins hoping to buy much cheaper at all...at this point.

This is exactly what I've been doing!

should i be panicking?

I'd rather have bitcoins that fall in price than have USD while bitcoin rises without me. So I tend to be easily swayed by bullish movements
679  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: July 30, 2012, 10:03:39 PM
go nuts and rally?

Well, I just went all in.
680  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: -= RUSTYRYAN's DEPOSITS - PAYING 3.0% WEEKLY INTEREST =- on: July 30, 2012, 08:16:06 PM
Micon, thank you for your concern.  However, I am sure you can appreciate every time you play a hand of poker you might win or lose.  In this case (actually in several cases) I put up small stakes to see what would happen.  In the same way, I might go to a movie and at the end I may have received my money's worth, but I don't get my money back.

1) please do not support obvious scams

2) here there is no movie, you can buy a ticket but the theater is empty and nothing is on the screen.

No, somebody is standing in front and writing all over the screen so nobody can see Smiley
