BTW, this setup didn't bother me so much before.... before the crash/hack I was consistently getting .001, .002 per block which is slow but hey, wasn't expecting much... After the crash/hack, I am averaging .0005, .0007, etc.  And my MHash/s went down just slightly from 397 average to around 388... No idea why and it's annoying me now.

MiniC

I assume you're talking about the $266 BTC price crash?  That has nothing to do with earning.  The mining difficulty went up since then and again went up again today.  Each time difficulty goes up earnings will go down.

As far as MH/s change, sometimes changes on your machine can do that like changing resolution.

Is it really unclear to people why brand new accounts can't participate in a free giveaway?
Because then 10K accounts would be created everyday and newbie lands would slow down the entire board just to get free pennies.

For a $149 investment it'll repay itself and make $1300 on top in one month of mining.

Think again. You paid about 23 BTC 10 months ago. You'll make .3 btc/day. Even if the difficulty doesn't skyrocket (which it will), you need more than 2 months to just break even. You aren't making any profit for a long time.

No, he paid in USD, just like everyone else.  Nice try, though.

Meanwhile, if he bought BTC, he would have 23 BTC, right now. Nice try at post rationalizing though.

I don't see how BFL stopped him from buying 23 BTC at any time, can you please post where BFL forbids people from purchasing BTC once they purchase one of our products, which are sold for USD (Not BTC)?

You can't?  Oh, then your argument is fallacious.  Nice try at rationalizing a false premise, though.  Well, actually, no it's not.  It's pretty sophomoric and elementary.

I hope your wife is doing the finances in your household.  How about you pay me now for 1 billion shares and I'll submit them to your pool 10 months from now when my ASICs arrive?

-Perhaps he did not have $150 more to buy BTC? You're married, you should know you can't spend willy nilly
-Pehaps he expected he would receive his device in October 2012 because it said so on the internet.  Oh that's right, you can't believe everything on the internet, especially from duplicitous PR guy.
-Perhaps he thought in October that the price had not changed much and he would receive his device in November.  And then in November he was told it would arrive in December.  Repeat this sequence until April 2013.  Why should he buy additional BTC - wasn't that the point of purchasing the miner?
-If BFL converted the Bitpay BTC to ass hamsters would he be refunded in ass hamsters?  If BFL converted Bitpay's BTC payment to some crack on SR would he be refunded in crack?

Nothing stopped sensible people from buying a simple 7770 which might have mined 23 BTC by now - well nothing except common sense.  Would you, Inaba, buy a video card and related computer hardware and mine at 200MH/s when you have an order pending for a device that would do 4.5GH/s at 1/20 the power.  Would you?  I just want a simple yes or no answer - don't go on with talk about how I'm not worth your time?  I own a BFL Single (original owner) and I had orders for ASICs, so don't count me in your pool of detractors who never even bought BFL hardware.

Yes BFL cannot be blamed for people who want a refund in BTC paid - you can't use a purchase as a hedge against foreign exchanges.  They can blame BFL for poor planning on their miner hardware deployment secondary to BFL's, uh how did you word it, "fallacious statement" - of which I believe you were responsible for later on in 2012.  I have yet to see you apologize even once for the delays the BFL suffered, whether intentional or not.  Can't you for just one time say you hurt people?  Or does that admit to liability to be used in court?

Come on, rebuke me with some of your SAT vocabulary.  Please abstain from 4 letter words and profanity.

Yeah kicking myself for getting out at $133.  I put in an order for $121 but it only went to $122 and never looked back after that.

If you're getting 395MH/s from 2 7770s you're doing well.

Spend your time picking a better pool or reading on how BTC works Smiley

675  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER: Erupter Blades. Review, comments, photos, and discussion! on: April 29, 2013, 11:25:41 AM
I just see everyone laughing to people who bought blades at such high price. Did it ever occurred to anyone that they now can replicate those blades and make themselves their own ASICMINER you know reverse engineering and stuff? And also they delivered unlike some other manufacturers.

I don't think anyone is laughing. I just think people are trying to figure out the reason for paying such a high price, since it's not an expectation of earning what they spent - unless they know something about the exchange rate and the other manufacturers that we don't.

Well, I don't think exchange rate is something to take into account - as those blades are paid in BTC, if the buyer thinks that exchange rate will grow considerably it would be wiser just to buy BTC and hold them.

The only point to buy the blades is to get at least 100% ROI on the BTC spent... Or maybe to do some reverse engineering work as seljo suggested, but AFAIK no company could easily and conveniently replicate the ASIC chips without the design.

Ans if the exchange rate goes down significantly .... ?

Well, I don't see how it could be convenient to spend more BTC than a miner can generate in his lifetime because you foresee a decrease on the BTC/USD exchange rate. If you think the exchange rate will drop, it makes sense to short BTC... But I really don't see the point in buying a miner for an amount of BTC you won't be getting back.

the exchange rate drops enough,  then they will have bought a device for less than the manufacturing costs. Of course earning anything significant after that is an issue, but an ASIC would be a better investment than keeping the bitcoins.

I don't think the exchange rate is likely to go down to a few percent of what it is now, I was originally just referring alternatives (to just overpaying for the blades) I thought highly improbable.

I'd really like to know the reason for the current pricing.

Yeah, I see that you could be buying an ASIC for less than its manufacturing costs... But IMO that could make sense ONLY if you were buying the BTC to buy that ASIC when the exchange rate is very low... And in any case I really don't see the point of buying a product meant to generate BTC for more BTC that it will generate in all his lifetime cycle.

I guess the expectation was that Avalon and BFL would both fail to deliver.
676  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 29, 2013, 11:21:40 AM
LOL, again.
Avalon, you don't care to give out an update, correct?

"we will ship the batch #2 units in a super fast speed during middle April to the end of April"

Like, how many BTC are you mining daily? 1000? Do you feel like God? You aren't stealing from your customers, correct? Because miners like i recall are the last link in the chain, they deserve no respect, correct?

Did you kick your mom if she didn't give you milk and cookies fast enough?
677  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: High Ambient Temps? on: April 29, 2013, 11:13:30 AM
This is where undervolting comes into play.  Less heat = lower fan speeds (usually) = lower power bill

I think the lower power is mostly from lower thermal resistance unless you have 3 or 4 fans running
678  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: HD7770 & HD7750 mining thread on: April 29, 2013, 11:11:33 AM
200 out of a 7770 is pretty good.  Make sure the VRMs stay cool though.
679  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Quick noob question, Mining rig setup for 3-4 HD7970 or 7870 on: April 29, 2013, 11:02:26 AM
Any CPU is fine
You don't need an optical drive, only if installing OS from one
1250 Seasonic or Corsair is fine for 4 or even 5 cards
