Yeah, both ML and handicap got covered as NLEX managed to escape and beat SMB. I was under the impression that SMB
already gain the composure during the 1st half, but it was NLEX who complete the rally and earn the win for today's game congrats
for a sweet win, Kabayan bisdak!

Thanks mate, I thought NLEX would lose that game hehe. When SMB lead by as much as 19 points, I turned off my laptop and went to bed early as to not be stressed out because a 19-point lead is quite a huge margin but when I woke up, I'm so amused that my two bets won.

I didn't have time to review what was going on in that game but the important is I won hehe.

Games for tomorrow:

Converge vs ROS
Ginebra vs DYIP

No odds yet but I do think DYIP would still be the underdog on the second game while the first game will be even more or less.

6,901 Php, current bankroll/capital.

682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo Super Middleweight (September 16) on: June 29, 2023, 05:13:48 AM
For Bivol, I think Canelo is not after what Bivol is holding right now as a rematch is just a plain fight to redeem his loss and so it doesn't really matter if Bivol will lost the belt to Beterbiev or not. But as per Bivol's words, there will be no rematch unless Canelo wanted to take a risk and host the fight at his own division.

Bivol also wanted a legacy on his own, to be a unified champion someday and he can do that on an easy path if he fight Canelo on 168lbs division, where Canelo reigned as the unified champion but i don't think that it would happen as Team Canelo is carefully planning its move as he is not getting younger anymore and losing the belts might have a negative impact on his career money-wise. A rematch with Bivol if would happen will be on the Russian's weight class as he has nothing to loss on path rather than the Russian going down in weight.
683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo Super Middleweight (September 16) on: June 28, 2023, 11:28:29 AM
The Bivol rematch might happen next year or maybe we will not see that happening at all as Canelo is with PBC now. Bivol is with Eddie Hearn and Match room so I doubt that they are going to work out as Canelo's contract with PBC is exclusive for a 3 fight deal.
Canelo is scared to fight with prime Bivol, so he avoid it and choose to fight with the opponents he think he will win e.g. Jermall Charlo, David Benavidez, and David Morrell. If the undisputed light heavyweight will happen e.g. Bivol vs Beterbiev, if Bivol win, Canelo will wait until he move to heavyweight or retire. But if Beterbiev win, I think Canelo will dare to fight with Bivol since both of them don't have any belt and the judges will favor on Canelo.

Is Morell included in the three-fight contract that Eddie Hearn offered to Canelo? I thought the third one was Bivo lol. Anyways, if Bivol is excluded then that was good planning for Team Canelo as he got no chance of winning against a prime and younger Bivol.

If Bivol vs Beterbiev would happen and the latter will win, there's a chance that Canelo would take the risk as Beterbiev would be 42 years by that time  Grin, that's how they do it.
684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 28, 2023, 10:58:24 AM

As for tomorrow's game between TNT and the Bolts, do you think TNT will be able to break their losing streak? Are you still betting on them, Kabayan?

The TNT vs Meralco game is already underway. Currently, the moneyline odds for TNT are 9.75. I don't think this would attract many bettors to trust them. Honestly, I believe it's a trap, and most likely TNT will lose by a huge margin once again. I hope bisdak did not place any bets on this game.

Fortunately, I didn't  Grin. I just don't see any reason for them to win with the line-up they had in this tournament, they might be winless when this PBA-On-Tour ends. Even with the handicap, i seriously that they will cover the spread, Meralco might blow them away. ATM, the score 78-89 in favor of Meralco.

NLEX +4.5 @1.86 vs SMB
NLEX ML @2.5 vs SMB

^^ My bets, and there's a high chance that NLEX might win the game tonight against the struggling Beermen.

edit:

Meralco won by an 18-point margin, 108-90, and covered the spread as well.

Well sabi nga nila win is win. At pa konti konti is way good than losing ika nga.

I hope kabayan that after this mini-tourney i would end profitable hehe but not expecting too much though.

If you don't expect to be profitable, it means you are not fully confident in what you are doing. Treat it as a serious journey rather than just for fun. Track your progress and outcomes—it's a good start towards becoming a professional sports bettor someday.

Don't get me wrong kabayan hehe, i'm serious in this endeavor as this is still money, Php500 per game is not a joke but this is gambling and too much expectation might end up in frustration.

It's good to know that you are tracking my bets/progress and hope for the best result but becoming a professional sports bettor someday is not on my mind ATM but who knows, the ball is round.

Will post my bet here tomorrow.
687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gualtieri Vs Falcao Vacant IBF World Middleweight CHAMPIONSHIP July 1 on: June 27, 2023, 10:37:50 AM
Both fighters are not that popular and they are not top-level fighters anyone of them can be beaten by Jermell Charlo, but between the two Falcao is a better fighter as you can see from the highlight of the fight he has an unorthodox style of fighting, punch hard and successive but since the fight is going to be held in Germany, Gualteri's hometown, Gualteri has a homecourt and it could work to his advantage.

TBH, it's my first time to see the names of these two boxers but who knows, someday one of them would be popular enough to warrant the attention of the global boxing community.

The fight will be on the weekend so I browsed on the crypto bookies but have not found their name posted there yet. I just want to know if the odds for ML are good/even as one Gualteri will be fighting in his hometown but the better boxer is Falcao.

688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 27, 2023, 10:27:32 AM
We have two games tomorrow, the main one will be between two bottom dwellers, NLEX and SMB. The odds for this one might even as the two has almost the same win-loss record while on the first game, we have Meralco battling against the winless Tropang Giga, and needless to say that the latter would be the huge underdog of this game.

I've got a feeling that TNT Tropang Giga would still lose this one and Meralco might cover the high point spread but still i will try my luck on betting a small amount on the ML odds while the rest of the budget will be with the handicap.

Good luck Kabayan, keep pushing forward Tongue

I hope kabayan that after this mini-tourney i would end profitable hehe but not expecting too much though.
689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 27, 2023, 06:43:19 AM
I've read that Joshua Franco has retired after his lost to Ioka in Japan.

We know that he lost his belt on the scale because he didn't make the weight in their fight, 115 lbs and was over the limit and even weight as high as super bantamweight. He cited though, that he has go to thru a lot emotionally and so another case of mental issues. And so before it blows up, he just decided to retire for good.

Quote
“For the majority of my career I have been going through a lot of mental problems that I was doing my best to control. I never liked talking about it publicly because I didn’t want anyone to think I ever made an excuse for anything or for anyone to look at me different. I battled through it as much as I could to still perform and give you guys some great fights. For anyone that battles through any type of mental health issues please know you are not alone. And you can’t let anything stop you from achieving your dreams.

https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/joshua-franco-announces-shock-retirement-at-age-27/265240

What an unfortunate news this is. If indeed Joshua Franco has retired then that mental health issue is true and this is not a problem that we could overcome by weeks time, took a lot of time to recover from this health issue. That also might be the reason why his performance was sub par on his first match with Ioka and not making the weight big time is result of this whole mental health issue.

Franco is still young, 27 years old to be exact, i hope he can continue his career when this whole ordeal is over.

Wow, lot of boxers now having this mental health issue, first it was Ryan Garcia but recovered so no reason why we can't see Franco 2 years from now.
690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 26, 2023, 11:12:16 AM
^^ And if I'm not mistaken, Jerwin is under MP so definitely Sean Gibbons will have to work double card to bring Jerwin's name in the mix again in this new weight class. And most likely, he has gotten over his lost against Martinez and moving forward to his career. No need to dub himself with that 2 losses, what's important is that he was able to win and make a statement comeback win.

So far I have checked his rankings, #8 on WBA and #9 on IBF.

Doesn't matter if he will have to face another Filipino champion or to become a champion. They are campaigning in the same division so obviously at some point they will have to fight, like Donaire vs Gaballo.

Yup, he is under MP Promotions and unlike Casimero, Ancajas is one of the favorite fighters of Sean Gibbons next to Mark Magsayo lol. That might be a tune-up fight for the Pretty Boy of the Philippines but still, it's a good one as he won by knockout which was a very good bounced back from a loss n his previous fight.

Personally, I have low expectations that Ancajas would be champion again as his weakness was visibly exposed on his two defeats against Martinez but a change in trainer might be the game changer as what @inthelongrun said.
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 26, 2023, 10:40:33 AM
Odds wise kabayang bisdak losses some of it with his two picks though it's just a break-even results still depend from how much
he place from both games. Still rolling and still kicking for sure..

Bisdak won his bet because Ginebra not only covered the spread but also won the game. I'm curious, what would be the parlay odds for Ginebra + Blackwater? I'm sure it's above x10. It could be a huge win if someone from here placed a bet on that. Anyways, congratulations to Bisdak for the nice bounce back.

I'm a little bit of a negative profit on the game last night as I rooted for Phoenix to win the game but it turned out the two underdogs won. I won on the Ginebra game but the odds was only @1.84 but nevertheless, it was still a nice bet for me even though I didn't go for the ML odds for the Ginebra vs ROS game which was pegged @4.xx.

I don't think that it would reach @10.0 if those games were parlayed because the odds ML for Blackwater was only @2.10, i think i would be @8.00 the most but it is still juicy but the Ginebra game was the riskier because they don't have the starters.

6,321 - 80.0, my current bankroll (do the term i used correct  Grin).
692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Joshua Franco vs Kazuto Ioka WBA World Superfly (June 24) on: June 26, 2023, 07:48:08 AM
What a revenge by Ioka after the first match was ended in draw, now he proof himself if he's better than Franco. Ioka clearly beat Franco, so the judges already correct for scoring favor on Ioka's side and people wouldn't discuss the scorecard is robbed etc.

I think Ioka will have couple of warm up fight before he will fight with Fernando Martinez or Junto Nakatani, Estrada is become the last boss in super flyweight division.

Yeah, Ioka got that fight that he really wanted, he relinquished his WBO belt in favor of his compatriot just for this rematch to happen and their hard work paid off.

For Franco, i think he need to move up in weight in his future fight as Superflyweight for him is too.

I don't think that their will be a unification fight between Ioka and Nakatani because seldom we can see two Japanese fighters fight for a unification, i might be wrong but that is my observation.

Locking this thread now and as usual thanks for your contributions for this thread to be alive and also congrats to those who be on Ioka to win this belt on his own backyard.
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 25, 2023, 04:12:03 AM
I'm sure Bisdak managed his bankroll and still has some left to bet on Sunday's games. By the way, we have the following matchups:

Phoenix vs. Bossing.
Rain or Shine vs. Ginebra.

I believe Rain or Shine is still undefeated.

6,321 - current capital, still in profit.

Phoenix -4.5 @2.01 vs Blackwater

Last time Phoenix played, they defeated the hot streaking Dyip and they covered the spread that is why i'm with the favorites this time around as Blackwater was coming from a loss so that might affect their morale, but i think they have morale on this tune-up games lol.

Ginebra +10.5 @1.84 vs Rain or Shine

Hopefully Onwubere and Pessumal caught fire this time around and lead the Gin Kings to a victory or if not, at least a close game.
694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Joshua Franco vs Kazuto Ioka WBA World Superfly (June 24) on: June 24, 2023, 12:24:56 PM
Personally, i changed my mind and will now bet for the Japanese as the percentage of him winning got higher with this news of Franco not making the weight.

What would be the penalty for him not making weight? Can he still make the fight happen? I was thinking if a boxer does not make it to the weigh-in, that would result in disqualification. Maybe my knowledge is not correct.

The obvious penalty for him not making weight is that he was stripped of his WBA belt, other than that i don't have any knowledge but there is no news yet that the fight will be cancelled because of Franco's disqualification. If Team Franco will do their best to trim the excess weight which is 6 pounds, that would be disastrous for him.

I have already put my bet, Ioka by decision @2.70, hope this fight will push through.

Goodluck on your bet, adding extra weight might work both ways though,

a) the added weight might help Franco specially in the power division and maybe he can withstand the power punches of Ioka in return. But maybe if the fight goes to distance he might tire and not put the volume that he wanted against the accuracy of Ioka.

b) the added weight will make him sloppy in this fight as he is not accustomed to as the last fight was at 115 lbs.

So we will see which scenario will likely take shape in the fight.

Don't know the real score on how they treat the 6 lbs overweight but it worked on the disadvantage of Franco. He seems slow tonight and those body shots by Ioka might have contributed to it but in fairness to Ioka, he never backed down on the bigger Franco, he weighs bantamweight tonight but still the Japanese emerged as the winner, my speculation that Ioka will win because Franco is not in condition paid off hehe.

Congrats to those who bet for Ioka and thanks to robelneo for the link of the fight.
695  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: June 24, 2023, 04:59:49 AM
Oo brad. May kaba talaga yan.

No available odds yet, but I guess that's a good question if DYIP will continue their great performances, if they will again serve as underdog taking handicap may give you some good chance , just my take from this upcoming game, while in the 2nd game maybe Mags will continue but handicap might be tough, we really can't tell if how the coach and players will take the game more on luck I guess, or if you have a good insider hahaha..

DYIP lost to Phoenix by 12 points with a score of 104-92, I thought that they will close the gap as it was only 6 points with 3 minutes to go in the game, that's from a high of 21 points led by Phoenix but they run out of time and lost by double-digit. Is the run of the underdogs over guys, let us see in the second game as I have NorthPort +14.5 @.86, hope that this game will be close.

Hope i will win on the second game to have a break-even night on the PBA.  Smiley
698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Joshua Franco vs Kazuto Ioka WBA World Superfly (June 24) on: June 23, 2023, 10:20:26 AM

I have given Franco the first fight, yes, it's very close but I guess the sheer volume alone could have tip the scale for him. But nevertheless, the Japanese judges are not going to award him the win as Ioka is one of their respected champion. Unless Franco is the clear winner or wins by knockout, then he could have the belt. But Ioka is very tough and that's why he is willing for a rematch here.

Franco should have the initiative and be the aggressor just like he did in their first fight, this is the disadvantage of fighting a champion on his own turf, you have to take the crown decisively, and if the fight is too close the judges will go for the home favorite.
Franco has no choice but to go all out, and go for knock out I'm sure he is prepare for this and its going to be a war between the two as both fighters have the same style and the same motivation to win the match.

He really did his best to be the aggressor in this fight, that's why the volume is in his side. Just to be fair though and we want it to be clear, even if the fight is made in Japan, the judges who score it are not Japanese, (but maybe they could have been sway to favor the Japanese, we don't know).

Scores were 114-114 and 114-114 from two of the three, with the third scoring it 115-113 for Franco.

It is also noted that Franco weight is over the limit

Quote
he official pre-fight weigh-in saw Franco (18-1-3, 8KOs) tip the scales at 55.2 kilograms—roughly 121.7 pounds, which is nearly two full divisions above the 115-pound limit. He was granted two hours to lose as much weight as possible, per a fight week agreement reached between the respective teams. However, Franco’s body had already shut down as he was only able to get down to 121 ¼ pounds (55 kilograms).

Ioka was well under the limit on the first attempt, as the Osaka-born boxer—now based out of Tokyo—was 52 kilograms (roughly 114.6 pounds)

https://www.boxingscene.com/joshua-franco-still-over-115-pound-limit-wba-title-stake-only-kazuto-ioka-rematch--175600

Bad news for Franco's fans here as he didn't make the weight and might be the cause of his defeat. I don't what will be the sanction but definitely, there will be, like wearing of thick gloves or whatever. The good thing is that there is no movement in the betting odds thus far so this also great news for those who will bet for Ioka.

Personally, i changed my mind and will now bet for the Japanese as the percentage of him winning got higher with this news of Franco not making the weight.
699  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: June 22, 2023, 11:44:41 AM

Crucial FT in OT wow, both attempts missed something that might give you your terrific run placing bets with the underdog, I guess it's the experienced that gives him the pressure, even just one and push the game to another OT but luck is with the Gin kings fans, but not sure if many will bite the ML, and another sure deal is when you will place your bet with a handicap that can lead you to a lost since Ginebra only win the game by 1 point.

Congrats with your other pick. Good thing that you are actively watching and you still manage to add more bets before the game ends.

Just a break-even on last night's bet as TNT doesn't stand a chance against Converge, they were blown into pieces. Looking at the lineup of TNT who played last night, it was only Marcelo, Khobuntin, and Rosser whom I have known while the rest were practice players while on the Converge side, all of the players were playing if I'm not wrong so we better watch out whenever TNT plays next time.
