521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 17, 2023, 11:10:35 AM
Just imagine the potential headline: Casimero vs. Inoue – a more significant spectacle than Tapales vs. Inoue, especially considering that the former was relatively unknown before his significant upset win.

Before the bolded text could happen, Casimero should first secure a championship belt and the way to do that is to fight Tapales on either the WBA or IBF belt but that possibility is so slim because those sanctioning bodies have already given the clearance to Tapales to fight for the unification so Casimero vs Inoue would likely to happen after the Tapales fight.

Speaking of tune-up on August 18, does anyone knows where to bet, have not seens any odds on my favorite bookies.
Let's wait for 1 day before the game. Do you have any information regarding their opponents in the upcoming tune-up games?

Below are the schedules of the tune-up/friendly games of Gilas in which after these games, the final 12 will be selected so everybody must do their best to be included in the final 12.

August 18 against Ivory Coast
August 20 against Monte Negro
August 21 against Mexico

The game against Mexico I think is for Gilas to be acquainted with the South American style of basketball.

Are these teams also participating in the FIBA World Cup? I can't seem to find Ivory Coast on the  list, So, I would also like to know whether they are part of it or if we are discussing other teams here. Regarding the betting odds, I'm quite certain they will be available 24 hours before the fight, as this is part of a significant event (even though they are friendlies). Many fans will be watching this.

Yup, they are all participating in the FIBA World Cup 23. Cote D'Ivoire is Ivory Coast  Cool. Sure that many will be watching these friendly games as this will be the first time that Jordan Clarkson and Kai Sotto will be playing and I think they can beat two of the three so I'm intrigued by how the bookies look at these games.

Back to Gilas update, they might release the final 12-pool roster 2 days before the official tip-off game of the country vs. the Dominican Republic on August 25. As per the report, that will be after 3 more tune-up games of Gilas before the FIBA World Cup. Those 3 games will be the final testing phase of who will be chosen as the final 12.

Currently, the pool is consisting of 16 players. Who do you think will be left out of that 16 pool?

If I will give my guess, the 4 players for me that somehow should be left out are:

- Kiefer Ravena (lots of guards already)
- Thirdy Ravena (not that athletic and versatile)
- Calvin Oftana (not being used that much so don't know how can he blend well to the team)
- undecided

I've read an article where Quinito Henson has picked Kiefer Ravena over Rhenz Abando, does this affect the selection process hehe. I don't know what's with Keifer that he picked him over the high leaper and defensive specialist Abando, Kiefer has already been tested but not much good result which i think it;s time for him to retire from Gilas duties.

That undecided of yours could be between Pogoy and Parks.

Speaking of tune-up on August 18, does anyone knows where to bet, have not seens any odds on my favorite bookies.

Parang gusto lagi nasa media kahit wala namang kwenta sinasabi.

527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: August 15, 2023, 11:53:12 AM
A good center would certainly be a big help for the team. KAT is not only a good center, but he is also one of the NBA superstars, so I'm sure he will be able to use his size to dominate the paint. The Philippines has a big player in Kai Sotto, with a height of 7'2", but he is not at an NBA caliber level yet. He is still young and in the developmental stage. Therefore, KAT could really dominate if he wants to.

This event is significant for the Philippines. With a team that lacks NBA-caliber players, they will need the support of the crowd. I'm pretty sure we will witness a sold-out crowd.

Dominican Republic is the team that the Philippines has a high percentage of winning but with the addition of Karl Anthony Towns, that possibility turn to very slim. Kai Sotto may contain him for a little while but with his experience in the NBA, KAT would wreck havoc in the paint and event on the perimeter sometime into the game so I'm not expecting anymore that Gilas chalked up a win in group A.

If MPBL games will be held in some big arenas like Smart Araneta or MOA Arena, etc. expect only a few live audiences and won't bother to spend money on purchasing tickets. And surely a worst to expect if we talk about having a game in PH Arena.  Cheesy

If that would be the scenario then it would be like just like the PBA, unless if the Smart Araneta Coliseum is the homecourt of one team then i think it can drew more crowds which is match better than the PBA, i think.

The owner of Blackwater has proposed that PBA games will be held in a home-away format, following i think the format of the MPBL nd the defunct MBA but i don't think they can sustain the logistics in doing so as it is very costly to move a team to another island that is why MBA was short-lived.

The PBA will stay as is, only this time more teams but still MVP and SMC companies will have influence on the new teams, that's for sure.

Finally, yong drama ukol kay Kai Sotto ay finally over.

As per report ng Spin.Ph, Kai Sotto finally cleared for full-contact basketball, so meaning masasama na siya sa final roster ng Gilas Pilipinas.

Quote
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al S. Panlilio confirmed the 7-foot-3 Sotto has been given the go-signal to finally play full contact.

"I spoke with our doctors (Monday) and he's been cleared to play. And that's good news," said Panlilio in the special session of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA).

Sana lang ay hindi na mauulit tong mga scenario na to dahil gaano man to kaliit ay hindi nakakabuti sa kampanya natin para manalo ng kahit isang laro sa FIBA World Cup.

If they can find another alternative, maybe they will push for that instead of working on it with Dana, just like what you said
there's something between White and Paul.

But, maybe if money will speak out loud, for sure business will come up first before anything, I mean if the price is right and the negotiation
turn into a good deal between everyone's camps.

We might see things to happen inside MMA arena.

Per report, Nate Diaz earns 20 million USD on his fight with Jake Paul, bigger that his whole earning in the UFC (some said bu t i don't if true) so this rematch will take place and it will be good if it happens in a Mix Martial Arts arena which i think Diaz could avenge his defeat on Paul. Even if the promoter offer half of what he earned on his fight with Jake Paul, I think Diaz will not hesitate to agree.
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 14, 2023, 11:10:08 AM
Tapales can play his card here. If he thinks that the amount of share/profits is not worth in taking that risk to a unification fight, he may change that direction and choose other alternative.

Only mandatory can push him to face Inoue. Without a mandatory call, he can always find his way
to pick a challenger and keep his belts.

Inoue's dream of becoming a two-division unified champion is in the hands of Marlon Tapales and by the looks of it he has the leverage of asking a fair amount to fight Inoue for that unification or else fight a non-mandatory fight to derail Inoue's plan a bit.

I think there is no mandatory for Tapales to face Inoue, it's just a promoter's call to make the fight happen and the burden in more on the camp of Inoue.
532  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: August 14, 2023, 10:33:47 AM

"No MRI result, no play" daw sabi ng SBP.

533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 14, 2023, 10:07:45 AM
As been expected the fight will be exciting and both will survive because they're Mexican, congratulations for Navarette and nice try for Valdez. I think Valdez's boxing career is already near to end as he can't win against a champion, he only fight for 1-2 in a year. Valdez has a stamina, but he's just not good enough and he's already quite old, he will improving too much even he will train more harder.

I agree with you mate, seems that he is due for retirement already. He got Naverette in the chin a few times but somehow it didn't bother the latter so that means his power is fading already and like you said, he can't win in a championship fight so better for him to retire. I don't know if there is a rematch clause on this one and if indeed there is, better if Valdez won't exercise it.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius (replacement) on: August 13, 2023, 05:42:52 AM
Most important thing is that AJ is back and his mindset and his confidence is with him again after winning a knockout win. I think Eddie Hearn has accomplished what they want in this fight. Make AJ look again and try to resurrect his career with such KO win.

I hope that win via knockout brought his confidence back as that is very important in boxing and confidence is missing in Joshua previous fights. Hearns need to close the deal between Joshua and Wilder because if the former will face another tune-up, this mega-fight (Wilder vs Joshua) might not happen as Joshua is so unpredictable that he could lose to anyone, anytime.
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 13, 2023, 05:31:54 AM
Navarette knows how to use his long reach to his advantage he is one of the few boxer that can pour that big number of punches I guess Valdez was overwhelmed by that barrage of punches once he threw the right jab he follows it up with a left straight and uppercut causing Valdez to lose his composure, and Navarette jus eats up Valdez punches it has no impact on hos chin and head.
I agree with the decision, Navarette earn points in the early rounds and is the one controlling the championship rounds its not even too close, I don't think this fight deserve a rematch its clear for us who is the better fighter between the two.

Yeah, as Baofeng have said, Valdez couldn't cut the distance and Navarette wisely uses his advantage and that awkward combination that made Valdez too busy defending those thus making the fight one-sided and boring to watch for those non-hardcore boxing fans.

Congrats @inthelongrun if you have betted for your guy, damn, I should have followed your lead hehe.

536  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: August 12, 2023, 05:38:17 AM

537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: August 12, 2023, 01:01:11 AM
Let's say Marlon Tapales really developed and improved his speed, expect that the same goes for Naoya Inoue.

Surpassing Inoue at almost the entire of the Japanese monster advantages is really tough. We can't expect a big development for Tapales within just several months as to surpass Inoue at anything, it needs boxing experience. Beating Inoue though will really bring something big for Tapales. I hope that will be the reason for Tapales to fuel his determination to win.

For me, not being a bullsh*t here but I really don't see a way how Tapales will beat Naoya Inoue. It's not the same as Pacquiao being the heavy underdog during their fight against the prime Marco Antonio Barrera. But still, I will support my countrymen here and expect that something special will happened in their fight.

This fight is for Inoue no matter how good or bad Tapales is. The thing here is that Tapales should be compensated the right amount for being the holder of the two belts as Inoue won't be a unified champion if he won't fight Tapales or the latter will fought another boxer so the dream of Inoue to be a 2-division unified champion will take some time or may not happen anymore.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Rodriguez vs Lopez - vacant IBF bantamweight (Aug. 13) on: August 11, 2023, 01:26:35 PM
Hopefully though, whoever wins this fight, will give a crack at Gaballo first before going in another unification fight with other champion.

Yeah I hope so and it is interesting to note that Rodriguez lost to Gaballo via split decision in the year 2020 so maybe the promoter avoid Gaballo as the latter has his numbers the last time around.

Lopez is on a winning streak so i think throwing a few dollars to back him is worthy enough because of that attractive odds.

Hopefully, we can see Gaballo winning this IBF belt very soon.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 11, 2023, 01:02:10 PM
But I am voting based on who I'd like to win. Grin I got Navarette stopping Valdez. I believe we haven't seen yet what this new champion can do in this division. He had a bad night in his last fight so he will enter this fight better. I believe he is the stronger guy so he will be the aggressor here. And I'm pretty sure they already know what happened to Miguel Berchelt against Valdez so Navarette will be a little smart with his aggression here and will finally catch Valdez in the mid to late rounds.

Wow, i like your prediction brother, opposite to what i have in my mind. I have Valdez to win by knockout here because no matter what Navarette will do to avoid those bombs, somewhere in the late rounds he will be tired and Valdez will hit him hard and KOed him but i like what you said that Navarette will be a little smarter here to avoid the fate that Berchelt have suffered but i don't think Navarette could hide the full twelve rounds or it may be the other way around, let's see.  Grin
540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: August 10, 2023, 12:31:04 PM
If you believe in Valdez to win, might as well bet on him winning by KO. As per the present odds, it's very attractive at +440.

Already did but the odds is a little bit lower on our local bookies but doesn't matter to me because that 4.80 odds is still a very juicy odds considering that Valdez has a higher chance to win by knockout. Just wonder though why bookies have speculated that this will go the distance even though Navarette was almost KOed in his last fight.
