681  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces monarch shipping on: August 16, 2014, 09:35:09 AM
What happened to their promised leading efficiency of something like 0.4W/GH  Grin Grin

Meanwhile I am sitting here with my miners at (under) 0.9$/GH and am really bummed that I didn´t ride the butterflylabs train to josh/Sonnytown /sarcasm

This time only a little more than half a year´s delay?
That means next time it might be only 4 months delay, which constitutes express delivery for BFL.

Shouldn´t there be some people who traded their refund money +10% for these cloudhashing contracts?

If so, it is probably positive news to see nobody complaining.
683  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 16, 2014, 08:34:39 AM
It doesn't matter what voltage you've got - you've got no machine to plug into that voltage.  Spondoolies didn't deliver.
Do you suggest I built my sp30s myself?

If so, I am really talented and should rightfully earn lots of money.

Congratulations, you just made the 2nd place on my ignore list.
684  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: August 15, 2014, 10:14:21 AM
It isn´t their virus.

There was a similar email attack with bitmaintech email, so yeah.

Most likely the email adress was collected from another bitcoin related site.
685  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive BitCrane T-110 Setup [HD] on: August 15, 2014, 09:08:07 AM
My estimated internal cost would also not enclude NRE such as engineering cost etc.

I was extrapolating from AM/Bitmain figures, and calculating at a high production volume (which might not be applicable here).

The hashfast chip also needs a quite expensive PCB, but is it more expensive per GH than other miners?

At the end of the day the chip is quite potent, but needs expensive peripherals to work properly.

So you guys suggest http://toom.im/ for best solution for SP30?
What happened to the Iceland data center? Aren't you using this for SP10?
I am still running one sp10 at the Iceland facility, and I will not change that one (also, I have a minimum contract length there).

Toom.im offers 76$/kW/m at the same 6 month contract lenght Thor DC (Advania, Iceland) offers. (Thor is 120$/kW/m though, and does not accept bitcoin or paypal payments).
Contracts with Toom.im are 90$/kW/m on a one-month term, with prices as low as 70$/kW/m.

I can say however, that I am moving an sp10 from spondoolies to Toom.im aswell.
Ambient temperature might be slightly lower in Iceland during the summer, but certainly not in the winter. While the sp10 is fairly temperature sensitive, sp30 isn´t.

My sp30 travelled from Israel to jtoomim´s WA hosting facility in only 2 days. (thank you Spond∞lies and FedEx)

A short review of my hosting experience so far can be found in the hardware hosting comparison thread:

Toom.im bros hosting experience update.

As previously stated I sent some sp30s to jtoomim´s hosting facility after getting a stellar video tour and answers to any questions I could think of regarding hosting, power and cooling.

This is a first update with impressions of the service so far, and I must say I am very impressed.

Shipping from spondoolies to the hosting facility took only 2 days, the units left Israel on Tuesday and arrived Thursday 11:30am. (Thanks go out to fedex here)

Within 15 minutes of delivery, my units were set up and ready to hash, I even got another short video of my units sitting in the rack.

I was able to get access to the webUI, although they would have gladly set up the unit via email/skype/facetime provided information. (I guess that should cover everyone Wink )

The units perform well at the advertised 4.5TH.
The built-in temperature sensor reported 25°C on a hot day (without the actual cooling systems online) and 21°C on a normal day (with 1/14th of the evaporative coolers running).
From experience I can say that spondoolies temperature sensors typically report ~3°C higher than what the actual intake temperature is, and this was confirmed via thermal camera. (although 25°C is nothing to worry about)

I am therefore quite certain that temperatures should not exceed 25°C on a hot Washington day and with winter approaching, airflow should be more than sufficient to cool your units to even lower temperatures.

I am happy to say that jtoomim is very knowledgeable about sp30s and sp10s, aswell as bitcoin mining in general, and offered tips on how to further improve unit stability and performance.

Finally, I am very pleased with the pricing for this service, which to my knowledge is industry-leading (feel free to correct me though), and certainly lower than what spondoolies themselves offer
(which in fairness is not meant to be a long-term solution, and is provided at-cost).

I am quite certain jtoomim is still offering video tours of his hosting site for anyone interested in hosting (but please don´t only use it as an excuse to see a pile of hashing sp30s Wink, although it is a great sight).

689  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnC Neptune WARNING on: August 15, 2014, 06:55:23 AM
KnC does however use a significantly higher load on 6-pin PCIE connectors than what they are rated for.
This makes them responsible for any damage occuring from this.

It is really cheap to circumvent these kinds of problems, another 6-pin PCIE or even an 8-pin PCIE would go a long way with regards to safety (and might even improve efficiency by lowering cable losses).

As KnC has previously stated they are not likely to produce another retail product, and my guess is they didn´t care about these issues as their custom DCs (which they are really designing the units for) will
a) underclock the modules to reach even higher efficiency
b) have significantly lower ambient temperatures
c) custom 14AWG wiring.
690  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: August 15, 2014, 06:12:57 AM

in two week  Grin
Do you mean in two weeks (TM BFL)?

@nhminer
That would only decrease the likelyhood of bitmine returning customer funds, so why would you even mention this?

Once a company owes you money, you should help the company succeed...
691  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive SpondooliesTech SP30 Setup [HD] on: August 15, 2014, 06:10:32 AM
Where do you live in Europe? It is very likely that there are hosting options available that are in fact cheaper than hosting it at your house. Additional VAT charges that apply when importing into Europe would also not need to be paid.

I'm here in Austria, VAT in not an issue (I can let our company purchase and run the hardware), and despite the fact that the lowest energy price I can get here at 0.11 EUR/kWh (excl. VAT) all calculations indicate so far that I'm better off with self-hosting.
There are good hosting solutions available starting at 0.07€/kWh, feel free to pm me if you need any infos.
692  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GAW Miners on: August 14, 2014, 05:10:58 PM
@customers with these orders

Would you care to share the amount of compensation that has been offered?
693  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 14, 2014, 05:07:17 PM
As the last units of this week were produced and shipped today, I think my assumption of groupbuy units shipping after the 15th will prove to be quite accurate.

I understand how painful it is to wait for ordered miners, but I am sure spondoolies is producing a quality product as fast as possible.
694  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 14, 2014, 04:45:21 PM
For planning purposes ... Can you tell us what order number you are currently shipping and when you expect to ship the balance of the Aug GB units?

Suggestion:  In the order status, how about putting an "anticipated ship date"
or something on the website, "currently shipping order #"

That gives you little indication, as some orders contain 30+ units, and some only one.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 14, 2014, 04:01:03 PM
Please don't believe KnC's lies. Here is an independent report about SP30 power consumption:

To be fair, that's an extreme case by running highest possible voltage. Very few people will be able to run their SP30 at 258V. Feel free to post efficiency at 110V.

As far as I can remember, efficiency at 110V was actually better than at 240V, minersource confirmed the same efficiency numbers at 208V.

Total hashrate was a little slower at 110V (which has obvious downsides).
696  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: August 14, 2014, 03:56:21 PM
It doesn´t neccesarilly mean that the data was leaked from bitmine, it could just be an email spoofing, virus spreading attack.
697  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 14, 2014, 03:17:41 PM
@Makrum

You do know that you can have your units show as seperate worker by using YOURBTCADDRESS_workername in the pool/worker settings?
698  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 14, 2014, 03:01:01 PM
I've successfully migrated our SP30s over to our 258V supply. Performance is up.

Device ID     Hashrate (cgminer)      AC power usage     Top PSU lim (DC)Bot PSU lim     J/GH
Mine    4527 GH/s3024 W136213670.668
Wanna14476 GH/s2928 W134513510.654
Wanna24459 GH/s2960 W134413470.663
Wanna34470 GH/s2992 W134913490.669

Thank you for the review. It seems that the competition is spreading lies about SP30 power consumption.

If you are talking about the knc newsletter, it is badly researched.

0,57 J/GH - KNC Neptune - 1950 watts at 3400 GH/s (reported average)
0,62 J/GH - Bitfury BF3500 - 2200 watts, 3500 GH/s (stated, unconfirmed)
0,76 J/GH - Spondoolies SP30 - 3200 watts at 4200 GH/s (reported average)

It also claims bitfury be 3500 does 0.62J/GH, which not even bitfury themsleves claim (it is ~0.775)
699  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GAW Miners on: August 14, 2014, 02:43:18 PM
dr gero is right.

Legally speaking, it is gaw´s responsibility to deliver product as advertised or give the client the option for a refund (or try and compensate the customer for the different specs, this needs customer approval though).
