681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: November 28, 2023, 11:47:44 AM
Thanks for sharing your experience, really appreciated.

Although we are all aware that borrowing money to gamble is too risky but there are times we break that simple rules. OP here is sharing the outcome of being irresponsible in gambling, yes, it's called being irresponsible as he would not be addicted and make bad decision if he was responsible. You know, there's a saying on responsible gambling, right?  Like... "gamble what you can afford to lose"... so borrowing showed he can't afford gambling anymore but still continue hoping he'll at least recover his losses, that's how dangerous addiction is.

All I can suggest to you OP is take it easy, it has already happen so you have to accept the consequences of your action, and hopefully you'll learn from your mistake although in a hard way.
682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk forum as a citadel of knowledge on: November 28, 2023, 05:00:27 AM
You came at the right crypto/bitcoin forum. This is a big forum actually, you can learn a lot depending on your interest, so as long as you continue reading, sure in time you'll be fully knowledgeable about crypto in general. Not only on serious investment, we also have here like entertainment, you know if you are a risk taker, you would also love to gamble at the same time, but that's only a secondary purpose here if you'll consider that.

We are happy to see newbies appreciating the effort of the old members or the high rank members, as that would only tell that this forum serves its purpose to educate everyone who are willing to, and with people who are willing to share, they should be commended by the community as they are a big help for people to edcuate themselves about crypto, and on how to manage the risk of investment.

Today you will decide If your family and kids will be poor or wealthy you have that repsonsebility now.

More investment options are better, reying solely on bitcoin is a bad idea, it's called a high risk investment for a reason, so its being irresponsible to put all your egges in one basket. Although personally bitcoin has been a huge help of my financial success that I'm enjoying currently, there's no such thing as forever in this world and we can't just bet solely on bitcoin, that's why i diversify my investment. Learn also to put money on real business while still investing on bitcoin just in case something will come up in the future that we aren't expecting, we still have another source of icnome to survive,
684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 27, 2023, 08:00:01 AM
Yes, initially it was Wemby who is the huge favorite for the Rookie of the year award. However, his numbers is not to be expected from him, we wanted to see more and his teams is struggling. While Chet is relax this season, and playing really good. In the beginning, even OKC fans says that he is overrated. Now they see the true potential of Chet and he is embrace by the OKC fans. But we will have to see how Wemby is going to play the whole season, maybe he just needed good games to put himself in front again for the Rookie of the Year.

I'm not sure if the odds that were reported are still available, but I doubt we would get those odds considering how Wemby and Chet have played recently. It seems like the expectations have flipped because Chet has been doing well with his consistent contribution to the team. Everyone was probably thinking that Wemby would easily win the ROY, but his numbers don't align with our expectations. So, again, most bettors might lose their bets if they placed them before the season started.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Many Bets to Know How Good Enough You Are? on: November 27, 2023, 06:44:01 AM
As a gambler, how many bets do you think  you need to place to give you a true idea of how good you are? Anyone can hit 60% in the short term. But for example in betting I am hitting between 55-60% depending on the sport after around 450 - 500 bets. Assuming I want to go pro on betting, do you think that this is good enough or do I wait and see what my percentage is after 800 - 900 bets before making a decision?

It's not measured by the number of bets made but rather by the percentage of wins. Making more bets does not necessarily contribute to long-term success, as it is assumed that careful consideration may not have been given to each bet. In sports betting, the recipe for success is not quantity but quality.
686  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk news ( more like drama/gossip thread) where to start it? on: November 27, 2023, 05:07:39 AM
meta is for "discussion about bitcoin forum", so I guess your concern does not belong here, but I'm sure off-topic would be always the right section to accomodate such concerns that aren't belong to popular sections or boards of the forum.
687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Holders Hesitant to Sell Despite Price Surge on: November 24, 2023, 01:28:17 PM
Why sell right away if the price is expected to break the current all-time high? We hold Bitcoin with the anticipation of significant returns, so selling when the market is already bullish is not advisable. We aim for a more substantial price pump, akin to what occurred in the past during the bull run. Selling prematurely could result in missed opportunities.

Currently, it's evident that the market is bullish, with Bitcoin hovering around $30ish and potentially breaking $40k soon. Patience is crucial, especially for those who have held their Bitcoin through the deep correction after the 2021 bull run.

The all-time high is around $65k. If we adopt a conservative investment approach, selling at least at $100k per 1 BTC would be a prudent strategy.
688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Got hacked, lost 11 BTC on: November 24, 2023, 12:28:18 PM
I guess that's it; it's confirmed that it was hacked. I understand the feeling, mate. 11 BTC is a significant amount, especially considering the current price. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do since Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. You just have to learn from the mistake and move on.

I hope you won't blame your wife or anyone if it was lost due to an unintentional mistake. It's not the end of the world. As long as we are alive and in the crypto space, there's still a chance to regain that amount. However, next time, let's be wiser and avoid making the same mistake.

Perhaps consider setting up a dedicated PC for your wallet to prevent compromise in case new applications are installed.
689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most gamblers do not believe they can consistently make money, that's why... on: November 24, 2023, 11:41:21 AM
The problem, it's not these.

The problem, is most of us cannot handle the psychology. Especially, while you are on lose section people can get triggered and betting crazy while we usually have a target %/days.

Trust me, it's happening all the time. No matter how good is your strats, we are getting trigered due the lost.

However, that doesn't mean we cannot improve ourselves. Making mistakes is inevitable, but it's crucial that we learn from them. If we persist in repeating the same errors, it becomes evident that gambling may not be suitable for us, potentially leading to detrimental consequences in our lives. The pursuit of profit in gambling leaves no space for emotionally weak gamblers; it is reserved for individuals with the skills to excel and the discipline to prevent emotional control over their decisions.
690  Economy / Economics / Re: fiat vs commodity on: November 24, 2023, 03:24:01 AM
When you stash your money in the bank through deposits, the interest it earns is typically meager. When you factor in the inflation rate for the year, you might end up with a slim profit, or worse, none at all if inflation outpaces the bank's interest. The catch is, the interest is fixed, while the inflation rate remains unpredictably variable. So, don't view what you park in the bank as an investment; it's more like a stash you want to keep safe.

Now, about houses – yeah, they don't usually appreciate in value because, generally, they depreciate. The real value boost comes from the land they're on. So, if you're diving into the real estate game, consider the location. A great spot increases the chances of the land gaining value over time.

And as for Bitcoin, if Robert is saying he won't invest in it because he's not interested, maybe that's his way of slyly steering folks away so he can hoard it for himself. Now that he's done amassing, he'll start hyping it up to drive demand and, in turn, boost its value. Basic science.  Smiley
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance’s $4B settlement the green light for spot Bitcoin ETFs? on: November 24, 2023, 02:53:08 AM
They're going after Binance, and sure, Binance isn't all squeaky clean, but the fact that they're operating in the U.S. might be a major reason why regulators want to cut down on their big market control.

The upside is Binance is willing to cough up the settlement money, so they can keep on doing business. It might dent their finances a bit, so their grip on the market might ease up. I reckon the regulators are getting what they want, but folks sticking with Binance as their go-to exchange will probably keep it going strong in the long haul.
692  Economy / Economics / Re: Insurance is important on: November 23, 2023, 01:29:06 PM
Personally, I haven't gotten insurance for my business yet, but I'm thinking about it. Right now, my main goal is to save up so I can kickstart another business in a completely different field from what I'm doing now. Gotta keep those options open as we never know.

there is different levels of insurance
as a minimum for running a business... liability
its the legal costs if you or your product causes harm or loss to an employee, customer or guest

then there is buildings/contents insurance. but these can be at different levels. whether its fully inclusive or only contains one or more of:
accidents, arson, no fault fire, flood, storm, lightning, damage, theft, etc

I might think about getting these kinds of insurance once my business hits a more stable stride and grows. At the moment, it's in the early stages, we're renting space, and our employee count is still modest. The future looks a bit uncertain. When it comes to insurance, I understand it's there to safeguard the business, but I've got to align it carefully with my budgeted expenses. Allocating funds for premiums is automatic, and I need to make sure it fits into the financial picture.

Real property insurance isn't on the table for me right now, like I said, I'm just taking it easy for the time being.
693  Economy / Economics / Re: Insurance is important on: November 23, 2023, 03:10:15 AM
Insurance is crucial, no doubt, but it's also smart to stash some cash for those unpredictable times. Plus, spreading your business across different areas is key to cutting down on risks. You can't just stick to one thing forever; it's better to explore possibilities and have a backup plan in case things get tough.

Personally, I haven't gotten insurance for my business yet, but I'm thinking about it. Right now, my main goal is to save up so I can kickstart another business in a completely different field from what I'm doing now. Gotta keep those options open as we never know.
694  Economy / Economics / Re: No Correlation Between Academic Success and Financial Success on: November 23, 2023, 02:27:04 AM
Absolutely, many academically successful individuals tend to prioritize building their careers, often seeking positions in large companies for job security.

However, the reality is that financial success often involves more than just working; it requires venturing into business where your money can work for you. But these people having their academic success, many of them are afraid in taking risks, a crucial element in running a business, so if they are afraid, they won't be able to achieve financial success.
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone been able to make steady income with gambling ? on: November 22, 2023, 02:51:01 PM
Gambling is meant for fun, not to make steady income.

That's what they say, and it's genuinely good advice. But what if you possess the skills to be a winner? Wouldn't you seize the opportunity to generate a consistent income through gambling? I believe it's worth exploring this topic rather than just offering advice on how to have fun and stay disciplined to avoid addiction in gambling.

When it comes to the question of "how to make a steady income," only those who believe it's feasible to earn money through gambling can share their opinions.

Skill only guarantees the victory in games like chess (and even professional chess players can have a bad day). It also affects, but not 100%, in games like poker and blackjack.

For the rest, I don't think that skill makes any different. Maybe in sports bettings, to some extent (not much). But in gambling in general (dice, crash, slots...) victory is based on pure luck.

Of course I'm referring my opinion to skilled based gambling. Knowing that we don't have a chance on other games where it's purely based on luck, there's no reason for discussion here, so I think we should recommend OP to play skilled based gambling, master it and maybe one day he'll be able to consistent make money in gambling.

The question is quite in general form, which is "Has anyone been able to make steady income with gambling ? ",,. Poker, chess, and sports betting, these are games that we could gamble, so it's part of gambling, and if we believe it's possible to have a steady income, the answer to OP's question is yes.
696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte (December 2) on: November 22, 2023, 01:44:33 PM

this is by no means a cherry pick for garcia as duarte's record is impressive. so yeah, maybe, garcia's camp wants to test his strength to a KO artist. if garcia can pull it off, maybe, they can get a bigger name on the table.
the preparation is only a month. garcia is still the favourite here. but if you fancy an upset, well, you can pick duarte here.

They really not playing around by picking a kind of opponent like Duarte because this is a decent fight between these two. Also, it's hard to predict who will gonna win this fight because to pull an upset for someone who has just tasted his first loss seems impossible unless Garcia has lost his confidence and cannot get up and move on from that loss anymore. Nevertheless, it's nice to see Garcia back in action and this will undoubtedly be a fight that most boxing fans want to see, they wanna see how is Garcia doing after that loss against Tank Davis.

Garcia can't be a zero loss undisputed he already has a loss so what else is there to be afraid of, just fight someone who is bigger if possible to fight a champ in the upper weight class. But Duarte isn't as tough as he is so to me, this is still a cherry picking imo. Duarte is not a top 5 fighter, not sure if there is a fight of him that a boxing fan can remember unless he follows Duarte for some reason.

Duarte is ranked at number 9 in the WBO Lightweight division. This alone indicates that he may not be considered a top-tier boxer just yet. However, what likely impresses fans is his impressive boxing record. Currently, he has 26 wins, with an impressive 21 of those coming from knockouts. Also, let us not forget that he remains undefeated as well.

698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really too Expensive? Then Buy Satoshis on: November 22, 2023, 04:34:23 AM
Why focus solely on the overall BTC price? If we're keen on investing, we should adhere to fundamental investment principles, much like with traditional fiat investments. It's crucial to only invest what we can comfortably afford to lose. Instead of fixating on the present price, it's wiser to assess its potential for growth. If you believe the current price could increase by x100, then make that your investment goal. For instance, if your affordable investment is $10,000, set your target at a future holding value of $1,000,000. Remember, it doesn't have to be precisely 1 BTC; you can invest gradually to reach your goal.
699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest crypto exchange CEO arrested! Anyone getting deja vu? on: November 22, 2023, 03:42:45 AM
The bad news is that Binance will have to pay over $4B and for that they will likely have to liquidate some BTC which would negative affect the price in short term. Also the largest crypto exchange admitting to violating the law is not good for the market, but at least Binance will only have to pay the fine and they are not getting shut down. Unless they don't have that kind of money and will file for bankruptcy.

I have my doubts; there was a negotiation, and they won't agree if they don't have enough funds to cover those penalties. Once Binance manages to overcome this issue, it's unlikely to recur, and that could positively impact their reputation, showcasing their ability to navigate challenges.

CZ is required to pay $50 million, but he should be able to afford it, considering his reported net worth of $12 billion.
https://fortune.com/crypto/2023/10/27/changpeng-cz-zhao-net-worth-drops-11-billion-dollars-binance/

This is good news for me because, despite their violation, Binance is still operational.
700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever Thought of Giving Back to the Community? on: November 21, 2023, 10:24:07 PM
I have not been able to separate the proceeds from my gambling from my overall income because I'm not doing gambling as a full time job, I still work and earn money and I consider the salary and winnings from gambling as general income. Even thought not on a large scale, we have formed the habit of giving back to society, it is part of what make me happy. It must not be proceeds from gambling.

In general I have not made huge proceeds from my gambling career so it becomes taking record of what I'm giving back to society from the profits of gambling.

Giving back isn't obligatory, especially with taxes already serving as a form of contribution to the community, as it's the government's responsibility to address the needs of the people, especially those facing financial challenges. While taxes fulfill this societal role, some individuals choose to donate money from their gambling profits. As for me, contemplating charitable contributions isn't a current focus, as my primary concern is figuring out how to succeed in gambling. I prefer taking this step-by-step approach, assessing the possibilities:
Luckily for me, I'm from a country where we don't pay taxes in a lot of things like cryptocurrency, gambling and many others. The only people that pay taxes are those working in big cooperations and government agencies. So the main way we give back is through charity. I know you might be asking how our government survive. Well, we have rich natural resources which the government mine and used to run the government and also steal the remaining. They don't care about small monies from taxes instead they can borrow to share or payback with crude oil and gas.

I really want to win big amount of money so I can start giving back because there are a lot of people that need help here. The money from government is not reaching the citizens, just those in government with their families and friends.

I'm referring to taxes in general. The basic idea behind taxation is that we're supposed to pay taxes on our earnings, regardless of how we make that money. Just by paying the right taxes, we show that we're honest and willing to give back to the community through the government. If we need to pay taxes on our gambling winnings, we should go along with it because it's for a good cause. However, winning itself is no walk in the park, whereas giving back to the community is as simple as one, two, three if you have a kind heart.
