As suggested above me it is good to have more chat rooms with different languages namely russian and chinese and another major thing is to have the option to view the chat while gambling will be a good option rather than going to another tab to view the chat menu.

This comes back pretty often - yes you CAN play and chat on the same screen. Click the button in bottom-left on the Play tab:

Regarding chatrooms, they are there, just not exposed too well. You could type in chat:

Code:
/join ru

but we need to make it more obvious apparently.

Cheers,
Ethan

I have just added a new feature - early confirmation deposits. You can check this live by depositing max 0.1 BTC to your YD account. Deposits qualify if they have decent fees and propagate properly in the network. Not to mention no double-spend is detected.

Some deposits don't qualify so you might need to wait for the next block(s). However, if a transaction is OK, deposit is confirmed even within 10-15 seconds and funds are added to your balance.

Cheers!

That sounds like a really bad idea. Not sure what your definition is of a small deposit, but for an game with investors funding the bankroll, this can be a horrible idea. Someone could deposit 0.01BTC instantly (I think that counts as small, right?), try for a 10x, and double spend on loss. Create new account, rinse and repeat. Your bankroll would probably go down quite a bit if a lot of people abuse it.

I am looking at BlockCypher's "confidence level" for unconfirmed transactions. They claim they can pretty accurately determine if a transaction will be included in the blockchain by looking at fees, inputs, propagation across network and of course double-spend counter-transactions. Indeed, if you are connected to sufficient number of nodes you can notice if there is a double-spend or not. After a minute or so it should be clear if transaction is valid. For a player a minute is far shorter than 10 minutes :-) We are still talking about mempool-level only.

Anyway, there are still a few tests ahead. I could not "cheat" the deposit, but you are right, some people might be smarter. I am still positive about "earyly confirmations" - I will keep you people posted!

Faucets are designed to let people test the site. They don't need 100 claims, so your easiest choice would probably be to allow 5 claims (or another small number) per account.

Indeed, most people would know if they want to play the game just after really short time. We need to sort this out!
684  Economy / Gambling / Re: MONTHLY BEST GAMBLING SITE (JANUARY) on: January 18, 2017, 07:59:59 PM
My vote for directbet. I always use them for football gambling.

Unfortunately I could not see YoloDice.com in the list. I think it is the best dice gambling site. You should add this site too.

And I think directbet will stay at the top, until end of the year.

I PMed Asahi1991 asking to add YOLOdice.com to the list, but never received a reply. Can this be added? YD is here for a month now, going strong, has great admins, even greater mods and people in the community :-)

Cheers,
Ethan

One question about the referral thing. If the one who referred players doesn't really play or participate in anything there, does he or she still gets that kind of treatment? Besides, we just want them to play right?

The person that refers does need to play at all. In order to join the referral progam you just need to refer people, that's all. Note that payouts will be sent to your YD account, so you need to log in from time to time.

I tried to play with faucet money and here is message I got:  "Sorry, the faucet is empty. We just need to refill it. Come back later!"
So ethan_nx if you are reading this, please refill faucet's wallet. Thanks!

I am sorry you found it empty. Unfortunately the faucet gets empty pretty fast, looks like a lot of people start living off it :-/ We might limit the faucet a bit more and instead spend the money on giveways and other actions that actually increase engagement.

Cheers!

ethan_nx
Thanks for the answer.

By the way, I've noticed a strange issue: sometimes, when I try to claim free coins from faucet, I got an error "Too much requests". I wait a few sec and try again — usually it works fine then. It seems to me, that server can't process such many operations in one time. Should not be a big problem for now, but when you'll get really big audience of players, it may become worse.
Just thought it may be a helpful information.

I'm really glad, that site became profitable. I wish it remains the same way.

Thanks, you are right! Although the error is not about the server not being able to process a request, but rather a client (or an IP) issuing too many requests, there was a bug in our server code. So indeed, this mechanism was broken and in some cases you would get an error like this. I suspected this a while ago, but your post made me look again at the code and I found the bug.

It is fixed now, so thanks again for posting this! Cheers!

UPDATE: Account history got a redesign, you can now see the history of tips, both sent and received.

As I stated somewhere earlier, I am working on instant deposit. Things look good and I think we can safely accept smaller deposits without waiting for inclusion in blockchain. I will keep you updated!
688  Economy / Gambling / Re: casino suggestion on: January 18, 2017, 09:03:14 AM
There are two kind of games actually: luck-based and skill-based. For luck based it's probability theory plus visual appeal. Dice games are the simplest form of pure luck-based games (you against pseudo-random numbers) and are quick to play. Skill-based games like poker are a different story. Depends what you are looking for. There are many ways to multiply/lose your coins :-)

Hello!
ethan_nx, I have a proposition: why not to remove the zero amount bets? I just accidentally rolled zero and that bet win, but I was really waiting for that win, I just missed to place a bet to cover my previous loses...
So, what is the sense of zero bets? You can always bet 1 satoshi if you wanna skip according to your gambling strategy. IMHO, zero bets does more harm than profit.
Thanks for any answer.

Thanks for the comment! "Zero" bets let you try the system risking nothing. As you say, idle bets are part of some strategies, I have no reason to forbid such bets. There is a small "punishment" - zero-bets have some delay introduced server-side.

Whaou

Well even if the revenue from the referal pool can vary, for this week it's a freaking high one xD
I regret not having invested more time in getting referrals there damn...

I think it's not too late. Sometimes one referral that plays high can bring more bonus than dozens of other. Good luck!
691  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST, awesome charts and chat, referrals - JOIN NOW! on: January 17, 2017, 08:04:54 AM
@1982dre, xax profit per bet is what a single bet can win. It's now a bit lower, at 1.8 BTC, but still.

Referral pool to be paid this week is ~ 1.8 BTC
(unless someone kills site profit till Sunday)

You know, if nothing changes, this is probably the best referral program you can find! :-)

The referral program works like this: we dedicate 10% of site profit to the referral payout pool. It's our whole commission. Now every participant gets a share in the pool, proportional to the wagered amounts of his/her referrals. The more your referrals play, the more you get from the pool. We pay on Sundays.

So if you can get referrals and get them play, you can get a significant share in the pool.

The referral program is here: https://yolodice.com/#referrals

Good luck!

Don't worry it wasn't during classes! Just tried to log in at school computers at lunch ^^

Anyway it didn't work but it doesn't really matter, was just to know if it was specific to school or linked to something else.
Seems like school IT are preventing us from betting during our free time :3

School computers can have tons of strange firewall/bullshit soft installed... Network can be restricted too - maybe that's why. I've seen really strange things and most network issues we had with other projects were caused by 1. network config withing corporations, 2. network configs at schools/colleges/universities :-)

BTW: our bankroll is now over 200 BTC thanks to recent investment(s), max profit per bet is almost 2.4 BTC.

Hey guys, I'm getting a small problem: I can't play at school  Grin

Don't know why but the site doesn't load at school, it keeps loading at the "validating client" part.
Not very important but worth mentioning it!
If you ever have a patch or if you know why don't hesitate to tell me!

Maybe there is a transparent proxy at your school that filters some connections... it's actually hard to say without looking deeper. If you really want to trace this, you could launch debug console (dev tools on Firefox or Chrome) and look at network requests. Maybe some of them are just blocked, or maybe there is something we could do to improve.

Anyway, let me know if you find anything. I am not a big fan of playing at school, but more people can experience similar issues if they have similar network config (although nobody reported anything similar yet).

Cheers,
Ethan

694  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST, awesome charts and chat, referrals, 1.5 BTC max bet on: January 14, 2017, 01:13:50 PM
A single 0.01 deposit is enough. Please note however that the faucet "parameters" can change in time. We want to keep using the faucet fun, but at the same time encourage players to play for real coins too. Needless to say, it's challenging to keep it from being abused, but hey, you only live once, we do our best!
695  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST, awesome charts and chat, referrals, 1.5 BTC max bet on: January 13, 2017, 09:42:47 AM
Just a quick update: there was a scrolling issue - you could not scroll some elements on smaller displays like mobile browsers. This made e.g. using autobetter painful because not only you could not scroll to the bottom of the autobetter panel, but you could not see some fields when the keyboard popped up.

The issue is fixed and now you can easily scroll these elements, incuding the autobetter. Good luck!

Also a hint: if you are on Android or iPhone and open YD in a browser, find an option to "Add to home screen" (in browser menu). YD will install as a (web) app and you will be able to launch it as any other native app, like this:

BTW: I want to emphasise this: I mainly work on stuff suggested by our users. If you want an improvement or a new feature, post here or in our Chat.
696  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST, awesome charts and chat, referrals, 1.5 BTC max bet on: January 12, 2017, 03:11:22 PM
You don't need to tell me what's important on a dice site Wink
Anyway, for a crowdfunded site investors do actually want to see the latest big bets so they can see why their profit increased/decreased by a large amount.

Dean, :-)

Dean, yugo, there is a "High Score" page you probably already found: https://yolodice.com/#stats/scores - it gives you top players by wagered, profit and highest bets in the last hour, 24h and week. It should give you an overview what happened. After you click a user you can see his profit graph.

But maybe we should indeed have a better (and easier to access) list of top bets. For this sole purpose - see what happened recently. I tend to use the Stats tab with High Scores and Investor Stats for this purpose and I just got used to it, but YD is an evolving project!

Cheers,
Ethan
697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you list Dice strategies other than martingale? on: January 11, 2017, 09:44:41 PM
Whichever strategy you are using, your expected profit is negative and equals 1% of your wagered sum (if house edge is 1%). However it's not true all strategies are equal.

The first difference is different probability density distribution of your profit. While a series of 50% bets will create a nice gaussian(-alike) distribution around your expected profit, betting on x8 multiplier will give you a completely different distribution. As will Martingale.

Second thing is wagered amount optimization. If you have 1 BTC and would like to bin 0.01 BTC, you could just bet with x1.01 multiplier. But then the wagered amount is 1 BTC and your expected profit is -0.01 BTC. There is 1% chance you lose your coin. On the other hand, you could play Martingale, which optimizes your wagered amount. If you start with 0.01 bet and win, you wager only 0.01. If you lose, you wager 0.03, 0.07, 0.015 etc. until you win (or lose), but you do not wager 1 BTC. The risk of losing the whole 1 BTC is much lower.

Yesterday we had little database performance issues caused by a single non-optimal database query used to aggregate stats. If you experienced any delays in placing bets or how the service worked - this is long fixed now.

I have temporarily removed the delay for smaller bets. Now only 0 BTC bets have 1s delay, all other bets should run as fast as the servers can process them.

Cheers,
Ethan

There is a new iteration of signatures in our "Referral panel" at https://yolodice.com/#referrals . I think they look better.
