6861  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Jun 4, 2013 BLOOMBERG- Bitcoin's a Revolution, Not a Convenience on: June 05, 2013, 03:35:15 PM
I love how these media outlets alternately deride and exalt bitcoin.
6862  Economy / Goods / Re: Building an agriculture based economy -Gauging Interest in a CSA cookbook- on: June 05, 2013, 03:32:17 PM
You will have more interest selling Homemade canned goods.
I think your right.
Just to clarify, I get nothing from the sales of these books. I just wanted to introduce fairshare to bitcoin as an option for their sales.
6863  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's stupid that newbies must make 5 posts and browse for 4 hours. Here's why on: June 05, 2013, 03:29:25 PM
Here's why this rule is useless. I had my first five posts within 20 minutes or so. And it's easy with the 4 hour thing too... If you're using Firefox, download an extension called ReloadEvery and install it. Log in to your account on this forum and enable ReloadEvery to reload every 30 seconds or 1 minute. Make sure your computer won't go to sleep or shut down in the next 4 hours and go about your business. When you return in 4 hours you should be all set!
Good point. Maybe we should go with a payment system to use these forums?
6864  Economy / Goods / Re: Building an agriculture based economy -Gauging Interest in a CSA cookbook- on: June 05, 2013, 01:35:15 PM
Wow, I see this is going to be a hot seller among computer oriented males.  Cheesy
6865  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do our governments keep reminding me of the borg? on: June 03, 2013, 07:30:14 PM
I know what you mean, there's quite a bit of stuff we can get away with but I think that's only because they know we would be happy beating the crap out of them if they went too far, often you'll see them trying to gauge us all and if they think there's going to be enough pissed off people they back off.
I think there is truth to what your saying. Let's plan on staying pissed off then.  Cheesy
We like our government to fear us in the U.S.
6866  Other / Meta / Re: What is the bitcoin address on my profile page for? on: June 03, 2013, 07:27:32 PM
Yes. you can put one of your receiving addresses there.
6867  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do our governments keep reminding me of the borg? on: June 03, 2013, 07:24:55 PM
While some of the stuff was clearly said by morons who don't know how the internet works, there was one here which is clearly just someone being frustrated and having a joke, I even found an article for you, it was awhile ago but it illustrates my point perfectly.

http://www.webuser.co.uk/news/top-stories/438817/man-arrested-after-airport-bomb-joke-on-twitter

Can you imagine what would happen if even the police etc. could be arrested for what they said on the internet or comments they made about people? Everyone would end up in jail!
yes. when it comes to terrorism the gov has no sense of humor or proportion. They should know that a real terrorist would not tweet about it first. But when you put high school dropouts in charge of airport security the best you can get is a mindless rule follower.
I only wanted to temper the discussion with the fact that many of us are lucky enough to live under a gov we can criticize. I have spent a lot of my time in shitty, war torn and corrupt places. It has helped me to realize my good fortune.
6868  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do our governments keep reminding me of the borg? on: June 03, 2013, 06:53:10 PM
None of you could even say these things if you didn't live in a democracy.  Smiley

Don't worry, our representatives are hard at work trying to fix that problem.  Tongue

Honestly, don't you read about how many people are getting arrested for saying stupid things on twitter and facebook? Yes, I said arrested, there have also been cases where politicians in my country are getting into trouble for saying stuff. While that's a given over here I'm surprised at how much trouble normal people are getting in, this is why you won't see me post real details on the internet. There was once a time when I thought it would be okay but now I know better.

In our current Democracy, you can only say what is considered acceptable not what is true and you can't even have fun being stupid anymore Tongue
I by no means think we live in a perfect society. But us Americans have become such complainers about our perceived rights. When you say arrested, I wonder what for?
A threat or something? You have to say something that is a crime to be arrested.
6869  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do you have BTC's? on: June 03, 2013, 06:32:54 PM
I use them. For me, bitcoin's utility is the attraction.
6870  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do our governments keep reminding me of the borg? on: June 03, 2013, 05:59:08 PM

Ever heard of "bitcoin"? It's like Sexcoin for grown-ups.
6872  Economy / Goods / Building an agriculture based economy -Gauging Interest in a CSA cookbook- on: June 03, 2013, 05:43:16 PM
Hi all,
My wife has been the project manager and editor on a cookbook project for our local community supported agriculture group. I don't really cook, but apparently it is very good. She is all done, but I am now helping the organization look into including bitcoin as a payment option (as a volunteer). Eventually we hope to have farm shares produced and sold within the bitcoin economy.

The first step will be to offer the cookbook for bitcoin. I am interested in the likelihood of you buying if bitcoin were an option. You are not committing to anything, but I am more interested in people who realistically may buy cookbooks.

Here is the website: http://www.csacoalition.org/

The book is Farm-Fresh and Fast

Cheers,
Rich

Glad to hear your ok. We had one Thursday that took out my neighbors house!

6874  Other / Off-topic / Re: Religious beliefs on bitcoin on: June 03, 2013, 02:14:36 PM
I know what could account for all this inconsistency and contradiction. God's absence.
If you see religion as a idea of humanity then it all seems very clear.
6875  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gun free zone on: June 02, 2013, 09:06:57 PM
...
Edit: My bad. The other terrorist had a gun. Though I do believe we are talking "gun free" for law abiding people only, right?
There is the rub. There is no such thing as a gun free zone for criminals. By definition gun free zones are only free of legal guns held by responsible citizens.
If you are a criminal you should check it out.  It's a perfect environment to operate in. None of the suckers is armed! How awesome is that!! You can do what you like with them. Rape them, murder them... It's all good. And your safety is practically guaranteed by the government.

Very informative thread.  Smiley
6877  Economy / Speculation / Re: Going to $30-40? on: June 02, 2013, 08:17:15 PM
...
The thing is the bubble has popped and since then the price has been propped up by whales.
Slowly the price will adjust itself to post bubble situation.
Bear phase starts now
I'm curious how you have determined that "whales" have been supporting the price?
6878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will fail on: June 02, 2013, 08:14:04 PM
Just wanted to add that in today's economy it is the Yen that wins, not the dollar.

Also it looks like my farmer is going to start taking bitcoin. I am very involved with community supported agriculture here and working to help farmers produce with BTC. Next I will work on their suppliers. Baby steps.
6879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Don't drink and bitcoin. on: June 02, 2013, 07:59:46 PM
Even without a fee I think it will go through. But it may take a while.
6880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Going to $30-40? on: June 02, 2013, 07:53:10 PM
The thing is that a gut feeling about the price going up or down may have some merit. But when you assign a dollar value you are just wildly guessing. It looks like math, there are numbers and everything, but it is not math. It is a completely baseless guess. Which you are welcome to do.  Wink

So, what is your opinion about the price in the near future?
Since most of my guesses have been wrong, I don't know. lol  Embarrassed
It seems like there is strong support at $120. I think some of the smart money is waiting to see what regulation shake out before buying. Because BTC is more opaque than the banking economy I don't even know that.
Overall I'm bullish because there are a lot of smart people working on new projects. If one of those becomes a killer app then we could be in rally mode quickly. Of course bad news about regulation or a severe bug could crash the market. I just can't say anything with confidence.
