701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: September 05, 2014, 11:00:35 PM
Very valid points and an important discussion. The objectives for CGB adoption, in my opinion, are 1) maximizing security while staying within the 'set in stone' inflationary profile of of 2% per year and 2) making CGB as user friendly as possible.

The best way to do the former is to maximize the hybrid algorithm's potential. This means encouraging as many coins as possible to be staked PoS side and as high of a hash rate as possible PoW side. The best options at this point are rewarding the un-staked coins to those who are staking and protecting the network (which will encourage more people to stake more often) in conjunction with merged mining to boost the hash rate.

Suggestions for better ways to do this will be considered as presented but again, please keep the objectives for adoption in mind.

CGB Core Team Update - September 4, 2014

Please also see the Reddit post for further discussion.

Greetings to the CGB family! So much going on behind the scenes as well as in the community - very exciting times we are experiencing! On behalf of the CGB Core Team, I would like to make an announcement to summarize what is going on presently and give some detail to the direction that we are heading. Remember, the CGB Core Team is a group of volunteers committed to CGB because we believe in its fundamentals. CGB is only as strong as the community who rallies around it and supports its promotion and adoption, so please get involved by spreading the word, voting, posting, or wherever else you feel you can contribute to community improvement.

Updates:

-   Development continues and is progressing very nicely with the new CGB client ‘The Vault 2.0’. Again, ‘The Vault 2.0’ includes a redesigned GUI, Coin Control, QR codes, unlock for staking button and some other surprises. We are now beginning testing of the Coin Control features via testnet and will keep the community appraised as a more concrete release date develops. Below are a couple new teaser screenshots.

-   As soon as ‘The Vault 2.0’ is released to the public, work on the next client update will continue with a tentative target release date of late 2014. ‘The Vault 2.1’ will include a hard fork as there will be adjustments to even further secure the network via achieving a more balanced PoW/PoS block generation and planned implementation of merge mining to boost the hashrate. Expect the client to continue to evolve dramatically as we have a number of exciting ‘new to the cryptosphere’ features in the pipeline to develop and implement. The team is aligned with the shared mission of adding features that are user friendly, game changing and practical as we believe innovation and simplicity of use to be critical factors in the push for mass adoption.

-   To the previous point, we are always looking for interested collaborators to join the CGB Core Team and to help with the development and implementation of the growing pipeline of projects. Experienced developer positions are open as well as a ‘Lead Artist’ position to handle logo, banners, advertisements, etc. Please reach out directly should you want to apply for any of the openings through the website or email us directly at cryptogenicbullion@gmail.com.

-   The language on the CGB website has been edited in a manner that hopefully makes the minting of CGB via PoS easier for the less techno savvy to understand and follow – again ease of use is a priority that we will continue to address and improve as we feel this is critical to mass adoption. Suggestions are of course welcome with better clarifying this or just editing. Here is the link to the edited ‘Get CGB’ page.

-   Our friends at Finite By Design, LLC have announced that they will be attending a ‘Bitcoin Conference’  in early October where they will parlay their promotional table to also promote Cryptogenic Bullion! It sounds as if the raffling off of a physical Cryptogenic Bullion bar made of 1 troy ounce of .999 silver will occur as well as handouts of CGB business cards containing 1 CGB each! This is extremely exciting news and we are very grateful for this collaboration! Below are screenshots of the CGB business card templates as provided by Finite By Design, LLC.

-   We will once again be working with our friends over at CryptoBiz Magazine to create a promotional video press release for CGB. More to come on this…

-   We are extremely excited about a new product being developed for which CGB is in the running to be included, CasheerApp. Please check out the project and show your support and if possible, please participate in the CGB thread to encourage Casheer to add CGB to their platform. Their decision on which coins to support is dependent on the communities participation as shown in their forums, so please stop by and put in a good word for CGB!

-   CGB is being actively voted for addition to a few exchanges at the moment so your support there is welcomed and encouraged as well.

* Bter - This is the focus priority for addition
* SwissCEX
* Cryptex
* AskCoin

-   There are currently about 954,000 CGB in circulation with an ever so slight inflationary headwind of an absolute maximum of about 50 CGB ($3 at current value) created per day via PoW and PoS. Compare this to the inflationary profile of Bitcoin where each day 7,200 new BTC are created ($3,420,000 at current value)! This startling statistic alone evidences why we believe Cryptogenic Bullion to be a superior store of value over the long term and as attention from investors builds, the market cap will rather quickly meet and surpass the previous all time highs from November/December of 2013 when CGB was valued at over $5 each.

Please explore a new payment processor. CGB should be accepted here: http://casheer.net/
Here is a forum to make requests: http://forum.casheer.net/viewforum.php?f=15

Great find BTCat! I have taken the liberty for the community and started a CGB thread over at casheer.net! It appears to be a service that would be an enormous benefit for CGB and its community. They base their addition of new coins on public support and interest on the respective coin threads so we have our work cut out for us. Please visit, post, tweet, revisit, etc...

For the community, remember, CGB is a decentralized crypto-currency not owned by any individual or team. If you own CGB, you are as much of a 'Core Team' member as those of us volunteers listed on the website. Feel free to take the initiative and start threads and promote CGB how ever you see fit.

Exciting and amazing developments continue in the entire cryptosphere! I am confident we are on the cusp of mass adoption!

I have finished the Cryptogenic Bullion section.  It will be in the book called Cryptocurrency "The Alt-ernative" (A historical reference book). Here is the preliminary cover (a better cover is currently being worked on):

The plan is to get the book published before Christmas 2014.

Here is the Cryptogenic Bullion preview section:

Any donations towards this future publication are highly welcome.  I would love to see this book become a reality.

Any further points which the community would like to be included in the CGB section need to be messaged to me ASAP.

Looking good Tyke! I have a few edits and a donation to throw your way. I will message you. Thanks!

Looks like someone has artificially inflated the market cap of CGB by purchasing a small number at 5 - 6 x is normal price:

1   Cryptsy      CGB/BTC   $ 273   $ 0.104359   68.58 %   Recently
2   Coins-E      CGB/BTC   $ 0   $ 0.196880   0.00 %   Recently
3   Crypto-Trade   CGB/USD   $ 0   $ 0.590000   0.00 %   Recently
4   Vault of Satoshi   CGB/CAD   $ 0   $ 0.412157   0.00 %   Recently

This is probably going to result in a rather sudden price correction (tho nothing that far from where we before this (potentially) sneaky price manipulation)

I think those were just the lowest sell orders at those particular markets. The crypto-trade one was actually a couple of days ago so probably just the team there setting a price point and history, but who knows...

"

Hey FiniteRed, I must have missed this note, what is the Vault 2.0 you mentioned? The updated wallet with its new feature set?

Too bad IMZ felt that he needed to leave the discussion, but maybe the lack of a working internet put an extra strain on him? Anyway, he's always welcome back to our discussions and improvement suggestions for CGB.

The Vault 2.0 is the new client currently under construction, more updates to come but here is the teaser announcement and screenshot.

CGB Core Team Update - August 10, 2014

Please also see the Reddit post for further discussion.

Greetings to the CGB family! Just wanted to take a few moments to update the community on recent activity. There has been a period of stagnancy and downward price movement with crypto-currencies of late and some are feeling doubt of an uncertain future. Regulatory measures are a hot button topic and clarity on what this means will take time to be defined. Regardless of these extenuating circumstances, the CGB Core Team and community will continue to march ahead and work to create this future rather than let sit idly and let it define us.

First a few updates:

-   New CGB client ‘Vault 2.0’ is in development with a tentative release date of mid-September. The Vault 2.0 will include a redesigned GUI, Coin Control, QR codes, unlock for staking button, network statistics, fully implemented multisig and some other surprises. Here is a quick teaser screenshot, but this is an early draft.

-   The language on the CGB website and announcement thread on Bitcointalk have been edited to reflect that the baseline mining reward has been reached after a year of fair distribution, the annual inflation target of 2% maximum is now locked in! Also a site-wide announcement has been added to the website to draw attention to this investment friendly condition.

-   The CGB Core Team was interviewed by BITCOINIST.NET’s Nigel Dollentas. Have a read here!

-   An exciting achievement was made recently by the IMZ team in putting CGB to real world face to face use! Excellent work and dedication being exemplified – this is the kind of activity that the CryptoTown on the Ground project was born from and will continue to grow from. Great work IMZ team!

-   CGB was added to an exclusive list of only 9 coins on a unique new exchange currently in beta, Cryptilla! Read more about the team behind Cryptilla here.

-   The CGB community recently demonstrated some of its abilities by coming together and getting CGB added to the Crypto-Trade exchange! Crypto-Trade was targeted as a goal for having CGB added due to their impressive list of features including USD pairing! They have stood the test of time in the crypto-currency 'Wild West' and are an excellent alternative for buying and selling CGB, via crypto or fiat. Excellent work by the community as a whole!

-       An interesting thread started by BTCCat. Stop by and chime in with your opinion of the Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015.

In related news:

-   The August 2014 Issue of CryptoBiz Magazine has been released! Excellent work by the CryptoBiz team! Check out the thought provoking literary masterpiece authored by one of our own - pg. 30. (32-33 in viewer)! Also, see the CGB advertising banner on the CryptoBiz site!

Moving forward:

-   Excellent discussion ongoing in the CGB community with regard to encouraging 'real-world-use' adoption of CGB! The community has some CryptoTown 'nodes' being established and developed in local communities. These essentially involve an individual taking the initiative, rolling up their sleeves and hitting their local points of commerce to promote CGB and other crypto-currencies. If you are looking to get started in your local community but don't know where to start, please inquire right here or over at Reddit. Of course sharing your experience, obstacles and achievements is welcomed!

-   The suggestion has also been made regarding focusing on advertising CGB to the larger professional investment community. So much of what we are relaying is confined to the very small niche community of crypto-currency enthusiasts. An overwhelming majority of this community is composed of those with a more short-term mentality of mine and dump or pump and dump for a quick profit. Obviously this is not the type CGB is targeted for by design, although they should be careful to invest some of their equity into a long term investment strategy. This targeted advertising has actually begun with our most recent campaign launched via our cover story on the July issue of CryptoBiz Magazine.

Is money flowing into cryptos?

# Bitcoin's 'inflexion point' was in early April -- money has begun 're-flowing' into BTC.

# Venture Capital is flowing into BTC (et al.)

# new coins (with breathtaking arrays of features) can and are attracting capital from other (older, less feature-rich) coins.

# but some coins have held their own:

YBcoin: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ybcoin/
Nxt: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nxt/
Unobtainium:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/unobtanium/

# conversely, some one-year-olds have weakened more than others since BTC's  turning-point:
Franko:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/franko/#charts
Yacoin:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/yacoin/#charts
CGB:

Please read. This can be really great for CGB.

"NXT Decentralized Exchange Launches With BTC and LTC.

The CoinAssets, as they are called, can be traded on the NXT asset exchange with other users, without the need to trust those users, and can be traded out for actual coins at any time.

The developers stressed to me that they are looking at other communities and stated that they are willing to help nearly any coin that wants to utilize the technology.

I was given a list of coins that could support the asset exchange almost immediately, they include:  BTC*, LTC*, DRK*, DOGE, CGB .... "

http://cointelegraph.com/news/112175/nxt-decentralized-exchange-launches-with-btc-and-ltc

Agreed.  It seems to me at this point in history, that as a community, we should be honest with ourselves about the future of CGB.   The fundamentals are there but the price continues to fall.  Why?  My theory is because we have low trade volume.  The Crypto-trade thing is great for us but I fear that it's not enough to have a huge difference to our marketcap.  Crypto-Trade is a great exchange but they have a low trade volume so I don't see it making a huge difference to us.  Most coins on that site are dying a slow death and they all trade for BTC which its self is a huge centralized dinosaur at this point in time IMO.  Conventional exchanges are sooo 2013.  They are not safe and they break down all the time.  Don't get me wrong the CGB/USD is invaluable but like I say it's not enough to save us at this point in time.   Lets not kid ourselves.  All cryptocurrencies are experimental and it is difficult to achieve the right balance.  Most are failing and at this point I think we could go either way.  I think we are learning from experience that a high market cap is not compatible with low trade volume.   Recognizing that CGB is a currency to "store" wealth,  I also think we should do everything we can to encourage trading.  Most coins fail because they are not spread thin enough.  If 100 people each have 10,000 coins, where are you going with that?    Nobody is going to pay up to get one coin.  The successful CGB is 1 million people each with one coin.  The previous poster who mentioned the Multigateway decentralized trading built into the NXT platform is absolutely correct.  Decentralized trading from the client is where this is all heading.   The market is declaring that NXT or some variation on that is the future, like it or not, and CGB needs to be a part of that sooner rather than later so that we can boost trading volume.  My 2 CGB's worth.

I think in order for CGB to thrive it needs to be marketed for what it's developed for. It's supposed to be a store of value, a tool to smooth out the fluctuations of bitcoin and create a "safe haven" for your digital investment. If you want to see CGB succeed, begin marketing it to coinbase for example as a store for their digital assets. This coin needs huge volume from large investors because that's who it's targeted too.

I agree with this. Our most recent marketing campaign launched via the cover article on Crypto Biz magazine is a move in this direction; which we fully intend to continue. Ideas and assistance are of course welcomed and appreciated.

We are simultaneously working behind the scenes on the evolution of the client scheduled for release mid-September.

I suspect things will hit a turning point and turn rather quickly. Hard to predict when this will happen but with the current market cap and CGB's coin fundamentals, a snow ball effect could trigger rather easily when some bigger players start to adopt CGB.

Nice listing. Checked the site, seems they offer the same buy/sell orders on all different coins. So if you set 10 CGB for sale for BTC you can still buy that order with DOGE or any other listed coin.
Seen any other exchange where they do this instead of seperate markets? Perhaps a smart way to get some extra income.

I really like that it's run by students and they come out this way. In Netherlands probably the largest BTC sales company is run by 3 students as well (Bitonic.nl), they have a very reliable business.

BleuTrade allows you to trade any coin for any other coin - https://bleutrade.com/exchange/2129 they are looking for coins both new and old to add to their exchange, they seem legit, you can even buy shares in BleuTrade which pay out on the previous four hour's trade as dividends.

Thanks Timelord2067! Perhaps I am overlooking something but I do not see CGB listed in the voting poll.

Hi CGB team

I think we could really do with a live coin statistics section like Feathercoin have: http://www.feathercoin.com/netstats perhaps with a graph or two showing current price, current difficulty and projected coin supply from day one onwards...

Professional investors crave live numbers and data on things they are going to plough money into (Good example: http://www.ripplecharts.com/#/)

Keep up the fantastic work Cheesy

Excellent suggestion FiniteRed, great minds!

This is one of the many features being worked on behind the scenes at this time.

"Annual" interest has been clarified on the OP and on the website. Apologies for any confusion. Please let me know if I missed anything. Also, added a site-wide notification to announce the completion of the CGB inflationary stage and settling in to the locked in maximum of 2% yearly inflation! Great times ahead!

CGB 1-year inflationary stage competed on July 13, 2014! Less than 1 million CGB in circulation with a maximum inflation rate of 2% going forward!
