701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin on: March 31, 2014, 12:02:57 PM
I've been a bit of a critic of this coin (in some aspects) but I've started buying some the last day or so.
I'm interested in how the plan to implement DGW and X11 is going.
Does anyone know?

Aircointeam:

"We have postponed DGW and the wallet update indefinitely. "

Is stablehash down now?

I've not had any coins from them for 12 hours and I usually get a transaction every hour or so, there's a statement on the pool, but it is old and there's no sign of improvement.

Anyway, I cam back here to find another pool only to find dead links again. This needs sorting.

I am now off to point my miners at another coin until things get resolved, as I imagine others are too.

Any nodes?

Been trying to sync for three hours without even a flicker of a connection, I've tried all the ones in this thread.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 29, 2014, 01:13:36 AM
There is a danger of this thread being turned into an NXTe flamewar, perhaps an NXTe thread should be started?
705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAKI] Maki - A fresh new taste of online payments. KGW! on: March 28, 2014, 09:01:57 PM
Thanks for the responses so far, the number 1 priority for us is security, we don't want our users to suffer from a hacked exchange although it something we have no control of.

Mintpal will take time to get onto but that is a future goal.

So right now for volume and a honest exchange owner do you feel Poloniex would be a better choice?

Poloniex is head and shoulders above ALL other exchanges, far and away the most professional and so honest it makes you want to cry.

They have had problems with being hacked, but they were open, honest and everybody got their money back - Busoni commands a lot of respect from the community.

Even today, Busoni is dipping into his own pocket to reimburse users BTC that were lost in yesterday's Faircoin fuck up for which he bears no responsibilty.

Edit:

Steer well clear of Cryptorush, there can only be grief there.

My second choice would probably be McxNOW.  Great responsiveness on the site and the owner (Real Solid) also commands respect, on the whole.
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 28, 2014, 08:51:24 PM
Can get a quick rundown of where we stand?

As I understand it:

The fork is fixed, but hashrate still low and relying on POS to come into operation on Monday to secure the network.

Poloniex has not made any statement about their position, we don't even know if they were on the wrong chain or not.

NXTe is accusing the dev of a scam to cover up their own scam and will likely be bust very soon.

People have lost coins from trading during the fork, but no one has lost coins if they were not touched during the fork (unless you had FAC at NXTe where the exchange has stolen them)

Is this basically correct?

EDIT:

I've just seen Busoni's post above, he really is a top bloke and deserves some luck after recent problems.

708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 28, 2014, 01:47:08 AM
i downloaded new wallet from http://fair-coin.info/#download
uhm i kept faircoin.qt and faircoind.exe
it didnt re-sync it just where like normal. replaced all other files

i got 5 connections, live in norway. and all my faircoins vent to un-confirmed. i also made a recovery, soon i crypt the hole wallet with some crazy password but too bad i dont have my 200 000 faircoins on it. and they are lost at nxt-e for now... lets hope for the best the next days.

DON'T DELETE WALLET.DAT !!!!

You need to delete the faircoin-qt and the faircoind, exe and all the other files and folders EXCEPT wallet.dat amd faircoin.conf.

The run the new faircoin-qt, let it sync and all should be good.

I dont use faircoind.conf . i dont need it, its just to create connections if you dont have it. atleast my wallet works fine without it so far. and wallet.dat is a backup file. (atleast i dont have that either, i just created one. its not in the download and its not appearing here for me. so i basically deleted everything except faircoin-qt and faircoind.exe wich means im gonna now download the file another time and just replace everything.

i also have a feeling that i bought faircoins from this guy who forked the hole thing and messed the coin up. wich means when this is over my 200 000 faircoins will be unconfirmed forever = lost them.

but if not then i will keep them. cause i bought them cheap and i really hope it was not from him. also XSV coin has dropped in price like 500%-1000% just like faircoin, both at the same time and btc go 100 dollars lowers making everyone sell their stuff cheap for bitcoins.

You must be trolling?

Now we need to contact Busoni and NXT-E

And work out how to stop it happening again, anyone with the hashrate could do this at will.
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. New exchanges added! on: March 28, 2014, 12:33:26 AM
the fixed version is ready!

but i'm a little worried about competing chains once we start updating. if we can have a few people with static ips (or at least open ports) to make a core group we may be able to avoid those competing chains
any volunteers?

What do you think will happen to the exchanges? Does the attacker still has his coins?

Indeed, were both exchanges on the wrong fork? It's possible Poloniex got away scot free, isn't it?

I think the attacker sent 50M coins to NXT-E. He even sold 5M coins for fun (check market history). If the NXT-E admin doesn't cooperate and rollback the transactions (which isn't even possible)...

He possibly sent some over Poloniex too.

There was a 300,000 dump on poloniex too, can't believe it wasn't the same person.

I have a fixed ip, will be happy to open a port for you, just might need a little instruction.

Well... we didn't make it to mintpal this time round
Tweet from mintpal:
"MintPal @MintPalExchange
Congrats to PopulaceCoin for winning today. Currently we are resolving issues with BTC deposits & withdraws, we will add once working again."

We are now top of the log with a little lead... but keep voting.

Most likely a waste of a vote, I think this coin is holed below the waterline.

If miners are not given a higher reward this will happen again.

If miners are given a higher reward, it destroys the original premise of the coin.

In both situations the coin will be catastrophically dumped to 1 sat.

I'm not trolling, I put 0.2 BTC into this just hours before the fork.
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. New exchanges added! on: March 27, 2014, 08:02:15 PM
game over?

Not game over, reverting back to the block before the fork is going to bring back everything like it was at that time... but people who bought at 10 satoshis and those BTC left the exchange... they will likely lose those BTC AND the FAC

Gush I was about to buy short while ago ... Not sure of anything right now :/

Be greedy at your own risk, these low prices are there to lure poeple in losing their BTC, nothing more! I will personally wait that the fork is fixed before sending any FAC on any Exchange

I already had some FAC on nxt-e since few days. Hope they will be fine.

They should be fine.
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. New exchanges added! on: March 27, 2014, 07:53:32 PM
You're back on ignore Sus, but listen , tons of coins including BTC and DOGE have forked numerous times.

This is not new so go troll somewhere else, I advise others to ignore these trolls like Sussex.

What the fuck are you on about?

Doge and BTC have some fucking miners securing the netwiork, FAC has almost nothing.

Everything I have said is correct, no trolling, you really are destined to keep chucking money away if you ignore everyone who says something YOU don't like - which reminds me, how is your Maza investment going?
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. New exchanges added! on: March 27, 2014, 07:48:37 PM
do not buy FAC, some one sold 5million FAC at 10sotoshi at here WFK https://www.nxt-e.com/default.aspx?m=fac_btc

This is concerning.

Yep it's clear that someone wanted to deliberatly fork the chain and dump on exchange to cash BTC out.

Some people will lose if the exchange don't/didn't block transfers out/markets.

This is my first front row seat of an actual fork attack... it's ugly Sad

What we bought right now was just hotair?!!!
The coin will disappear when fork recover?
WTF!!!

If those dumped coins are still on the exchange can't they just wait until the Dev updates the wallets and rolls back before withdrawing?

You can't consolidate two  chains, they have gone in  different directions - it is impossible.

This is concerning.

Most likely scenario for this is that the blockchain gets rolled back, any transactions after the fork will just disappear, everybody's wallet will look like it did immediately before the fork.

Of course, the BTC blockchain will not be rolled back, so those sides of transactions will remain intact.

Looks like a very clever scam utilising the low network hashrate against the coin because there is so little reward for miners,

You can expect this to happen again unless net hash is increased a lot.

Also, don't like the use of the word "if" in the dev's post......
