701  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Custom Spec Mining on: April 10, 2013, 12:51:42 PM
Thanks for the reply, that sounds like a good setup and actually appears to have similar dimensions to my BitPhantom design Smiley. I might have to get the dimensions of those or similar components and create a new design with at a realistic scale. The ASIC chips look promising however there is a lot of speculation they are a scam? I guess I could develop a Litecoin rig however I am unsure about Litecoin's at the moment.

*edit*

I have just had a thought, I currently have this PC setup.

Motherboard:
H55M-LE (1PCI slot)

GPU:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti

Processor:
Intel Core i7  870@2.93GHz

Memory:
8GB Ram

Power Supply:
600W

What if I upgraded the motherboard (for x4 PCI), power supply (to 850W) and added an additional GTX 560 Ti to the new motherboard? Would this setup work well?
702  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FREE BITCOIN Sites *and* Free Newbie Lotto on: April 09, 2013, 10:33:23 PM
How do these websites create the input forms for addresses and so on? I would like to create a giveaway website however I only code in HTML and CSS currently, my PHP, JS and other coding skills are limited. A template or tutorial help me a great deal getting started.
703  Bitcoin / Mining / Custom Spec Mining on: April 09, 2013, 10:27:08 PM
Lately I have been drawn towards the idea of designing and perhaps even manufacturing a custom mining unit. My question is what skills would I require to create a custom mining rig? I assume the process is fairly difficult and would require programming skills and so on? Could I realistically create a rig for under £1000 that would be adequate once the next mining difficulty increases (no point developing for old standards). I am just a designer so I realize I am probably a little naive in terms of this idea, I just want to invest my money into a worthy idea and create something practical. Could I simply piece together standard PC parts and have a capable mining rig up and running?
704  Other / Beginners & Help / Google+ Bitcoin Community Invite on: April 09, 2013, 03:56:11 PM
Any Google+ users around here? I am sure there are a few lurking around lol, anyway I have just created a Bitcoin community and I would like to invite anyone and everyone to join. I am currently in the invitation process so the community should steadily grow over the next few weeks. Also, in order to promote open discussion on Bitcoin related subjects I have created a variety of categories available to post in and discuss with others. Feel free to suggest new categories if I have missed anything.

  • Discus Bitcoins
  • Trade & Offers
  • Design Content
  • Share Videos
  • Mining Hardware

705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundations conflict of interest on: April 09, 2013, 01:22:47 AM
Don't be silly. These are the people that are making your Bitcoins worth something.

This comment made me think of plantation owners telling their slaves at least we give you food.
If you are likening yourself to a slave, what work were you forced to do?

My point was not of being a slave as I do not believe that just yet. It just appears to me the "foundation" has branded itself as the authority and the primary channel for Bitcoin support, the figure heads of Bitcoin even. Perhaps the foundation should start manufacturing physical coins with the "representatives" faces on the coin to remind us who makes our money worth anything.

707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What is your transaction count and trading ratio? on: April 09, 2013, 12:48:38 AM
I am just curious how many transactions you have made using Bitcoins? Ideally with a little insight in regards to how long you have been trading in BTC too. You might think this is irrelevant data but I would like to get an idea of transaction count relative to Bitcoin history/experience. Also some indication in terms of your receiving/sending ratio would also be interesting to know?

Personally I am currently at 5 transactions and 100% received (not enough to start spending yet).

Also, rather than creating a new thread I might as well seek some info on another question that has been on my mind. As a newb, what would be the most efficient process/service for trading GBP into BTC? I will be ready to invest on 15thApril and I hoping to get some BTC in my wallet as soon as possible lol.
708  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's the best bitcoin t-shirt? on: April 09, 2013, 12:24:25 AM
I have a cool Bitcoin design available on a variety of Tshirts if you are interested. I plan on self printing some designs in the very neat future too!

709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did I miss an opportunity? At what point would you say is too high to buy? on: April 09, 2013, 12:00:59 AM
I cant invest until 15th of April when I get payed, it has been a nightmare watching the price go up from £80 to £130 since then. Undecided
710  Economy / Marketplace / Selling Marketutopia.co.uk Domain +Opencart theme on: April 06, 2013, 10:33:31 PM
I registered a domain name a few months back (2013-02-11) and I have not really used it since, this is due to focusing on my primary website. As a result I would like to offer up the Marketutopia.co.uk domain for sale. Aside from the domain I can also provide(included in the price) the custom theme and branding (logos etc) that I designed specifically for the domain. At the moment I have a popular third party eCommerce system 'Opencart' installed and the theme is a customized version of the default 'Opencart' theme (latest build).

In terms of stats (visitors etc), this domain is pretty much a clean slate with very few indexed pages. I have never really published any products, just some Amazon affiliate links to test the feel and structure of the site. The domain name is ideal for anyone looking to sell a broad range of items, even Bitcoin related stuff. You can check it out using the link below.

(Note: For those with little web design/programming experience and little desire to hand code, simply set up an account(free) with 'Opencart' then copy over the theme files. You can then add products and modules etc through the Opencart dashboard without having to deal with coding!)

http://marketutopia.co.uk

I will accept BTCBTC £ $ so feel free to leave an offer if interested. The entire package would land you with a fully functioning, branded website with a CMS system that also offers tons of features from coupons to affiliate promoting. I have also noticed some Bitcoin extensions in the Opencart marketplace that you might like to experiment with.  Wink

711  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 06, 2013, 09:31:16 PM
I think if it were a scam, who needs to "run away" when you can just build a space ship and fly away to another galaxy.
712  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti - Mining worth it? on: April 06, 2013, 07:08:22 PM
Thanks for the replies, I decided it was not worth it after coming across a comparison graph somewhere. The GTX 560 was just above a poor performing cpu and all the other GPU were way above. Maybe one day I will create a custom mining unit but right now I will invest in other ideas. Smiley
713  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / BitPhantom - Bitcoin Mining Hardware Design Concept (VID + IMG) on: April 05, 2013, 05:10:05 PM
Hello everyone, over the last two days I have been busy designing a new conceptual mining machine. Although the idea is not very revolutionary, I just felt that it would be an interesting project to design. The 'BitPhantom' is a modular mining rig, it would ship in individual segments and could easily be upgraded relative to mining difficulty and ideally increased revenue growth. I am not a miner, nor do I have any technical knowledge, I am just a newb so whatever components found inside can be left up to your imagination.

http://www.owenprescott.com/blog-bitcoin-mining-hardware.php

When creating this machine I did not want to create a new slim line Apple style product, rather a titan that controls the oceans waves with its own gravity. Butterfly Lab's mining rigs would not even cause ripples in a puddle  Roll Eyes

Here is a preview:

On a side note, I would greatly appreciate a comment or two, I write articles to create discussion but so far none of my articles have reached 1 comment status yet lol.
714  Economy / Speculation / Re: DDoS attack at 300+$/BTC = bubble burst? on: April 04, 2013, 10:47:40 AM
I think key to avoiding DDOS is to have enough sites/platforms available for trading = less targets. If everyone uses the same site it will always be a prime target, some might try to weaken the prices just so they can get their foot in the door and stock some coins. To be honest I think early adopters will be less suseptible to knee jerk reactions, this might be a different story when/if the mainstream and every day people climb aboard. I would venture a guess most people do not even know what a DDOS is and would rather just wait for the government to call terrorists.
715  Economy / Goods / Some Bitcoin Spreadshirt TShirts +IPhone5 Case on: April 04, 2013, 12:57:52 AM
Hey everyone, so I in a week or so I am going to be placing an order in a Silk Screen press. My plan is to create an apparel label, and since I have become interested in Bitcoins I thought I would create some Bitcoin designs too! I created one design today and I thought why not upload the designs onto Spreadshirt and make them available. It will probably take a while to get all the equipment stocked and I might need some practice with the Silk screen. Anyway check out the designs, I can upload the design on alternative products if requested.

Link to shop: http://owenprescott.spreadshirt.co.uk/
Ignore my old designs lol.

Bit Black Sleeve Tshirt

Bit IPhone 5 case

Bit Continental

Bit Slim-fit

Unfortunately I can not supply them in BTC just yet as Spreadshirt does not allow that level of customization. Once I get paid and start stock equipment etc I will create an eCommerce site that trades in BTC. If you like the design you can always wait for my custom printed TShirts however I have older Spreadshirt designs and they have outlasted all high street clothing, plus the can handle the international shipping my efficiently. 717  Economy / Digital goods / Modern vector Logo for Web, Apps or Branding - 1BTC+ on: April 03, 2013, 10:45:10 PM
I have just finished off this logo design, the file is an Adobe Illustrator vector, vectors can be scaled up and down without loss of detail. I can also create a small pack in different formats for those who do not have a vector editing program. This is a single sale logo and I will literally pass over all files and ownership to the purchaser. I am open to offers however I will only seriously consider offers above 1BTC, if I get no takers it is possible I will be using this logo myself.

The idea behind the logo was to create a modern, stylish feel that stands out from the competition. The colours hint at gold (coins) however the overall composition is very dynamic. As Bitcoins are gaining serious momentum, a logo that symbolizes motion and movement will work well.
718  Bitcoin / Mining support / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti - Mining worth it? on: April 03, 2013, 08:43:44 PM
As mentioned in the title I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti installed on my i7 computer. I rarely even play games on it, I just wondered if it would be worth mining with it? I am guessing the cost of electricity would outweigh the mining potential, if that is the case I would also like some additional info of potential hardware setups that would be worth it? I am new so I don't have expectations of raking in loads either way. Tongue
719  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The 2013 Cryptocurrency Bubble on: April 03, 2013, 07:24:36 PM
I am going to split my earnings, casual freelance work will be invested in coins and everything else will go towards physical assets. I am a little worrisome over the prices though, as a new guy I can see how loads of people in my position are looking to jump on the bandwagon and the more it rises the more people will hold onto their coins. I cant see myself trading the coins much either tbh, it is difficult for newbies to get hold of anything so I would always want some reserved.

On a side note, can anyone point me to some good resources for stats (graphs etc). At the moment I just have an Android app called 'Bitcoin paranoid' which tells me the current price relative to my favoured currency.
720  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Design Project on: April 03, 2013, 05:28:20 PM
I have just created the first T Shirt design that I will stock sometime within the next few weeks, I will be printing them myself too. As I can only afford a one colour screen press at the moment my initial designs will be single colours. Note the pikes at the bottom, those who are familiar with history will probably see the relevance.  Wink Grin

Apologies about the watermarks, B/W designs are easy to copy. I have had work stolen before so I have to take precautions lol.
