Bah, I recall reading numerous topics over many months where ppl state that "we know satoshi is sill around or back" when the genesis block moves. Not a single time did I catch a reply saying that it cant.
722  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to lure Satoshi out in the open [cannot possibly fail] on: October 29, 2012, 05:24:14 PM
Maybe do 99.9% or maybe 1 Satoshi for Satoshi Smiley
1 Satoshi would be a bit low (because then I would not be able to sell highly sought after collectibles Tongue ... personally it scares me to think how much I'd be willing to pay for a portion of the genesis block and howmuch I would treasure it.

I have a devious masterplan on how to bring Satoshi forth once again:

Today my open mining rigs on balcony experienced the first wave of cold snap here: -7c degree at the time when I'm writing now.

My usb stick could not boot successfully if I restart the rig, had to use a hair dryer to help. 5870 card temp will go as low as 15c degree even with overclock (Accelero extreme 5870 cooler)

-6c here las night, my rig is nice an toasty inside the casing (18c) and keeps going.

Normally your measured hashrate is used. X-Mining-Hashrate, if available, is only used in the beginning when the server has not yet measured your hashrate.

Is there any way to keep using X-Mining-Hashrate after the initial go? This would allow larger miners to have 1 worker but not suffer from higher share variance for the entire farm.
Is there something preventing you from connecting multiple rigs to the same worker ?

You seriously need to reduce the wattage used, Your are GOING to blowout the PSU.

1000watt psu using ~95% of that at most, wheres the problem ?

Your tiepin made me think of how cool (and somewhat ironic) a BTC money clip would be.  I'd buy one for sure.  Smiley
Thanks for the idea, I'll inquire my manufacturer if they make money clips.
731  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: miners: how are you going to react to the reward halving? on: October 27, 2012, 04:20:37 PM
Im reacting by trying to find alternative bitcoin income, for starters Im selling goods for bitcoin.
732  Economy / Goods / Re: [FEEDBACK REQUEST] Bitcoin tee-shirt idea (cryptography we can believe in) on: October 27, 2012, 04:13:40 PM
I know this is a smaller market but I'd personally buy a shirt with "I survived the block reward halving."

Lapel pin

No problem.  You might want to invest in a low end light box/tent.  Good lighting can make even the worst photographer look better.  Trust on that. Wink
Ok I added some photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/76592024@N06/sets/72157631857164356/
I think this best shows the actual colours of the items in natural light:

Were now slightly below zero clecius here in Finland and Im pleased to report that the rig's power consumption is down 65 watts, nearly 7% from the summer daytime peaks. System efficiency: 2.62 MH/s/W currently.
737  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Want some free advertising? Want more people to buy your goods/services? COME! on: October 26, 2012, 05:00:56 PM
I just started, lapel pins, tie clips, cufflinks.. dont have a webpage.. sales volumes will decide if I will in the future, also got some ideas on upcoming products if my initial products accumulate enough interest, these forums and bitmit for now: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=120686
738  Economy / Goods / Re: btc trinkets: bitcoin tiepins, cufflinks and lapel pins. on: October 26, 2012, 04:11:20 PM
The material according to the manufacturer is "brass and gold plating". I would however like to state out that I do not believe there is any actual gold in these.

Also you should put them on bitmit.net.  Much easier to order and free advertising.  Lastly (and this may require more sales) do you have the ability to make the bitcoin cufflinks out of sterling silver?  I am going on a cruise soon and that would be nice for formal nights. Grin
I just found out that bitmit is not to be selled and will be using it, items going up as we speak. I do know a jewler from Switzerland but I'd guesstimate getting something like that made would get fairly expensive, I will however drop her a line and get a rough feel for the price.
740  Economy / Goods / Re: btc trinkets: bitcoin tiepins, cufflinks and lapel pins. on: October 26, 2012, 03:26:56 PM
those are interesting, suttle but for those who know about bitcoin it is obvious what they are
My thinking in wanting a bitcoin tiepin was "there are propably people aware of or using bitcoin around me daily, I'd like a suttle way to connect to them."

Nice! Good balance of flash and simplicity.

What materials are these made out of?

+1 on material info.  Also can you get some more photos?  Most of the items have a silvery finish but the cufflinks look "orange".  Are they brass or a brass like material or is that just a camera effect?

There are a couple of more photos up at http://www.flickr.com/photos/76592024@N06/
More photos will be available once I find a clean shirt/tie/jacket (very likeley tomorrow).
The metal is brasslike, all of them are yellow, not silvery.. the items are challenging for my crappy potography skills and different lighting settings, please bare with me Smiley
[edit] I mailed an inqury about the exact metal and finish used in the products, dunno if I'll get a response before monday, but more detailed information on that will be added as soon as I have it.
