721  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: USB port blocker on: September 26, 2023, 08:25:23 PM
Boot from an USB stick with Tails OS. Electrum is there and persistence is off. Yes, one will have to enter the 12-24 words every time, not such a big hassle imho (of course, as said, this is not for safeguarding 10$). It doesn't know what's your WiFi so it cannot connect online.
The seed can be stored easily and safely in so many ways it just depends on each and everyone's imagination.

That's valid option. Although depending on your device, you may face known issue (https://tails.net/support/known_issues/index.en.html) which is tricky to deal with. And as @LoyceMobile said, outdated Electrum could be problematic on few cases. Although these days we have PSBT which cut-off many incompatibility problem.

Well, when i read these Known issues, the most common one is "Tails not starting at all", this won't be a problem for us because we are not making tails persistence storage. So if somehow your tails USB is unable to load the OS, becomes corrupt etc, you can reinstall tails to the same or a new USB.

Secondly, the Tails OS do not come up with an updated Electurm version but we can download the Electrum Appimage for Linux from https://electrum.org/#download and copy this image through the USB to the Tails. The tails remain airgapped as we never enable the Internet on Tails.
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Bought More BTC on: September 26, 2023, 07:40:52 PM

Buddy i would say its a big news in postive way when any millioner come on social media and admit the statement they have invested thier big amount into BTC this thing bring trust in other people. Which makes BTC more adoptable and trustable. By seeing these kind of news somehow other organizations also approach to invest thier funds in BTC.

These things makes hight demand of btc which also cause increase in price. This news also relates to bull run for next year because when any know millioner or billioner personalities admit these kind of statement officially that makes positive cahnges in market.

Bro, Bitcoin doesn't need Michael-Saylor, to manifest its potential, Such Buyings do trigger Bullish sentiments but for the credibility establishment it really doesn't matter, it is the charm of Bitcoin and its characteristics that make it believable more authentic, as there was no Michael Saylor or MicroStrategy while Bitcoin was facing hard times with MT GoX, while suffering the China trading Ban, Mining Ban, FTX crash, and other attacks. It was Bitcoin who realized people that this system, this asset has potential, and convinced the investors and community to keep sticking with the Goal and be determined until the Universal asset recognition (Mode of Payment).

Such sort of news does affect the market price a little bit but keep in mind that these big buyings are not directly executed by an open market order book. Even the Buying price may vary from the pen market price. Institutional funding never enters the market with the direct open market gate. MicroStrategy is going to be one of the top performers of this Bull as per their massive amount of holdings.

Usually, these whales will buy bitcoin over the counter and not directly from the exchanges and therefore we do not see much movement in the bitcoin prices.

However, in times when everyone is selling bitcoin and the overall sentiments of the market are bearish, such news gives us hope and insights that people are accumulating bitcoin as we will not find these bitcoin prices next year and beyond.

No matter if MicroStrategy bought that many bitcoins and other institutes buy this much bitcoin, the important thing is how much bitcoin we bought. If we do not accumulate bitcoin in these times, then it's no use seeing other people buying bitcoin. Hope people understand this and invest in BitcoinBTC
723  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why do members switch campaigns always? on: September 26, 2023, 03:42:24 PM
°Strays and Non-strays:  some people it's in their nature just to be moving from one campaign to another without a reason, it's not for pay rate, number of weekly posts count, or posting boards restrictions but it's just in their nature to stray from campaign to another I wonder if they are looking for recognition or something else.

This is the strangest reason I have come across why people are switching the campaign??? They won't get recognition if they move from campaign to campaign. Also what sort of nature it is that it compels to move to different campaigns without any reason  Shocked

I would call them "sick" who would like to change campaigns and they have no reason for these switches.

726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the feature of Bitcoin? on: September 25, 2023, 04:39:22 PM
What do you think about what is the feature of Bitcoin, can Bitcoin touch $50,000 in 2025? I think that Bitcoin will go to $50,000 but not in 2025, maybe in 2026.

I am not sure what you are trying to say or maybe you are not 100% sure as to what are the "features" or use cases of bitcoin. Also, you do not seems to know anything about the Bitcoin 4-year cycle and the halving effect.

Anyway everyone is free to tell their opinion and prediction of Bitcoin, but I will suggest you to first study the history of bitcoin. They may help you decide better, and you are not left out when others will be making money in the bull season.
727  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: BITCOIN AS GIFTS FOR TEENAGERS on: September 24, 2023, 05:45:30 PM
Mainly most parents hold the belief that BTC, lacking government oversight and approval, is primarily associated with money laundering and illicit business activities.

This is just a lack of knowledge and nothing else. Usually, people show trust in things which are approved by the government and usually, we see the government not accepting Bitcoin, resulting in this type of mindset for those who do not research further.
As far as money laundering is concerned, it is more convenient to use fiat money to launder money than you use the transparent blockchain and think that your actions won't be noticed. Again, this is the feed by the media to keep people away from Bitcoin and crypto currencies.

They made an update to June 3rd Event Statement the other say.
Still says  'not our fault, looking in to it'
https://atomicwallet.io/blog/articles/june-3rd-event-statement

I'm guessing that they hope it just quietly fades away and drops from peoples memories.

-Dave

Please find the snip from the same article.

Quote
In light of the reports from our users on the 3rd of June, we immediately changed access to all our servers and switched our internal processes to 'under attack mode'. In addition, we are working on a security app update to reduce the chances of potential future attacks. We strongly encourage all our users to keep their wallet apps updated to the latest versions.

Giving lame excuses and what's more, encouraging the users to keep using the same closed source wallet.
If they cared so much about the people, they would have announced that they would be moving towards open source, but not to be.

Anyone who will still trust them is responsible for their loss if the same hack happens again.
729  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: September 23, 2023, 07:29:30 PM
1. Increase in the national GDP is least likely to be caused by a war.
2. Oil is considered the most crucial resource in modern warfare.
3. War affects the stock market by causing a decline in stock prices.

What do you guys think? Is this true or false?

You forget the most important thing, the war brings a lot of deaths and unforeseen situations in life, like loss of family members, destruction of homes/buildings, loss of business and jobs etc. These are things which the common man faces and they would not care about the GDP, Oil or stock prices at that point of time.

Yes, the outside world (which is not involved in the war) will look closely at how the oil prices react to war, how the stock market will behave and how the crypto market shows bullish or bearish momentum during those times.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the SEC approve BTC ETF in the coming 23 days? on: September 23, 2023, 07:04:00 PM
The answer is no, they will not accept the ETF in the coming 23 days, but they will also not reject it, instead, they will delay it. And will extend the dates, in my opinion, they wanted to use this news or hype which will be created due to the approval of ETFs, as fuel to boost the BTC price up, upper than we all have expected. Like a bonus.

Just a reminder that SEC is not a bitcoin whale, who wants the bitcoin price to pump and will use the card of bitcoin ETF hype for this purpose. SEC is against the bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, so I don't see any interest of the SEC in delaying the ETF for creating the bitcoin ETF hype.

Second SEC will be also looks for stability in the market , investigating fraud in crypto and proper way to solve this issue, how to meet application with legal framework of SEC regulations , review from stake holders which needs lot of time atleast six months so I hope we Will get something positive in the future not earlier

Really does SEC really care about people's money and really want to stop the fraud in cryptocurrencies.  Isn't the real reason of opposing the bitcoin is that they want to keep controlling the people's finance and they know the adoption of bitcoin will just get their grip on the people's money a lot lesser.
731  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Are blockchain explorer threat to the privacy ? on: September 23, 2023, 06:41:28 PM
tor brings about other issues i.e. why is that guy using TOR

lets try to track him.

How about using a Mullvad browser  (https://mullvad.net/en/browser) instead of TOR ? You will get the same features but then it is not the TOR.

Wow these so called "Block Chain Analysis" companies has so much time to watch my IP addresses, link my bitcoins to my IP and then what ?
Even though i do not have much bitcoins, but even i have, they can't get my bitcoins.

Also all the top wallets are publically avaiable as to which address contain how much bitcoins. Sometimes if i also search other addresses, not belonging to me. Also, there will be people who would be using VPN to check the addresses on blockchian explorers. I think that this data wil be a big mess rather than anything useful for analysis.

Nothing is being done manually, so it won't be hassle for the blockchain analysis companies. They have the built in specialized software's / programs to keep processing as much data they get and for sure, when asked by the authorities, they will filter out the big wallets and their associated IP addresses.
732  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: P2P Scams : Where does the government stand on: September 22, 2023, 11:14:39 PM
Yeah sure, We can't blame to the technology, but we have to strict and alert from the scammers. Because scammers are everywhere in the word. P2P is the most powerful things where we can use the money to deposit are withdrawn. But there is also some technical things to understand that how we can alert from scammers. Please choose the best person with many rating and positive reviews, so you can be safe in this process too.
You will understand how P2P exchanges work. The exchange only blocks cryptocurrencies, but it does not control money transfers. Even people on P2P sites with a lot of reviews use other people's bank accounts for payments.
And as soon as fraud occurs in this payment chain, many bank accounts that were linked by transfers may be blocked. And then the bank or police officers will find out the reasons for such payments.

But all this does not happen in reality. Most government does not support cryptocurrencies. So they won't help you out in case you were scammed through P2P.

Also the scammers at P2P are clever enough that they make the other party close the deal without getting the payment. Once you close the deal, the escrow is released and then even binance can't help you.
733  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading bots... do they work? on: September 22, 2023, 04:11:55 AM
Since I haven't personally used a trading bot yet, it's difficult for me to comment on its usability. Now, based on my research into trading bots, it appears that few people claim that they benefit from them. Nobody has claimed to have made a lot of money with a trading bot that I have come across.

In addition, those who make such claim are merely pushing a trading bot. At this time, the information I found in the article I investigated is conflicting, and others may argue that it is profitable but not a surefire way to make money. Because it is not guaranteed, however someone has claimed that the daily return on investment is between 0.1% and 0.5%.

If the trading bots were successful and they provided 100% of the time accurate results, wouldn't the whole world leave all their work and businesses and start using bots to trade and make money?

The fact is that bot selling is a business and people are selling these trading bots to traders who have already lost a lot of money in trading and they buy them thinking that these bots can help them trade better. But the reality is otherwise.

If you want to be a trader, better learn it first, experience it and eventually you will become a better trader. Trading bots may assist you temporarily, but they are unable to be profitable in the long term.
734  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Are blockchain explorer threat to the privacy ? on: September 22, 2023, 03:19:55 AM
Still he was insisting that you should avoid these explorers. I diagreed but what to know your point of view? What is the harm of checkng your transactions and wallets balances through explorers  Huh

When you use any blockchain explorer you IP address is logged with them and they know that this IP address access this btc address multiple times.
They can give this data to blockchain analysis companies who will put one tick in the box that since this IP address searches this btc address multiple times, so one possibility is that btc address belongs to that IP. I hope you already know that tracing you by the IP address is not difficult at all.

Its better to have a read only wallet configured where you can see your balances (For example , Blue Wallet) or if using the explorer is the only way, then better use it through TOR or VPN.
735  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: im launching my service;) on: September 22, 2023, 02:54:51 AM
We all thought that you were going to launch your own affiliate site or platform but you're posting affiliating to a solar company, you need not create a poll for this it has nothing to do with Cryptocurrency, and since this is locally based you have to do a feasibility study on the area where you are going to promote this solar company.
But this is much better than creating a gambling platform because this is not for you since you are not a developer because you don't know how to code.

I hope you understand it . All this poll was to create the attention to promote the Solar product/site. Also, when someone wants to launch a product, they launch it according to their own expertise, they won't create a poll asking people if they should develop a play-to-earn game or open a crypto exchange???

Hello I'm highly interested in promoting your company! I have an airbnb business and work with lots of customers daily Smiley

We can expect a Newbie promoting another Newbie service/product. Good luck  Smiley
736  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fortunejack scam me for 279.6 usd on: September 21, 2023, 04:41:53 PM
[...]

I  hope your issue is also resolved and i would  request  @OP as well to not close this thread until  you  are addressed

Mind to explain to me the logic behind this idea?

OP's case is solved, FJ made their statement and solved the situation [or at least it's on the way to it, just waiting for OP's confirmation] why shouldn't the thread be locked and marked as solved? The main topic of the thread had been addressed and cleared. Letting it open is kinda not fair. Unless you can tell me why that is such a good idea?

Well, its very simple, The Fortune Jack added the amount to his account but he cannot withdraw it until his KYC is processed and approved.
Probably the withdrawal of money will be processed only after verification of the documents.

So maybe he mean to say that OP should confirm that his KYC is approved, he withdraw the amount to his personal wallet and then he may close this case / lock the thread.

737  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction on: September 21, 2023, 04:08:39 PM
I am using Electrum wallet to pay on a website. Usually the site has "Pay in Wallet" option and I use that and electrum opens up and I hit pay from electrum that take me back to website page. Today when I hit pay from electrum wallet it waited long and did not get recognized on the website end.

Finally I got the message on electrum "The Transaction is only available on your local machine" and I did not get the coin back. I right clicked the transaction from Electrum and did "Broadcast" and the transaction now has 2 confirmations.

Will this go through ?

Usually, the payment processor sites have set a timer to send the transaction within a certain time period like 30 minutes or 1 hour etc. I do not know what happens if the timer runs out and your transaction isn't broadcast as i usually pay a higher fee (after checking from the mempool), so that my transactions get confirmed early and the payment processor site has no objection as my payments never delays.

If the transaction has already been broadcast within the allocated time but not yet confirmed, then it was not an issue but since the payment processer did get the Tx ID within the allocated time I do not know how they will treat it, Maybe good payment processor will return you the amount if you contact them through support and the less trusted ones may eat up your funds.
738  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: USB port blocker on: September 21, 2023, 03:41:05 PM
Is it worth buying?

Not really, it will just add an extra cost while the same can be protected through free methods.

First of all, your airgapped device should be password protected. Since no one can access that device without the password, no one can use the USB on that device and you yourself won't use it too. Spending money on buying the USB port blocker is not worth it.

Most if not all PCs can disable the USB ports in BIOS and you can also set a BIOS password so that cannot be changed without the password.

Apart from this, the USB ports can be disabled in the computer too through "Device Manager" if you are using the Windows Version.
739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is KYC mandatory in CEX? on: September 21, 2023, 02:48:34 AM
Privacy is important when it comes to Cryptocurrency, so why do exchanges like Bitget require KYC (Know Your Customer) for all users, even those who only want to get airdrops? I thought KYC should be for those transacting many Bitcoins, Is it really necessary for everyone?
The reason for making KYC mandatory is to prevent activities like money laundering. Because his kyc document will be given there. Whether or not to use a platform is entirely a personal matter for an individual. If you don't want to do kyc you can use DEX instead of CEX where no kyc is required. But if you are using CEX then you need to complete kyc as it falls within their terms & conditions. And to use their service must follow their terms & conditions

CEX needs to abide by government laws and regulations. Therefore they take proactive measures by enforcing KYC so that in future if they are questioned about the illegal use of money (Money laundering etc), they have the details of the person and they can give this data to the authorized agencies upon request. If the CEX won't implement the KYC, they can get into trouble themselves.

Also, I think people may report that a certain CEX is running without the KYC and it can lead to the closure of their business by the authorities. In simple words, it's hard to run an exchange business without implementing the KYC.
740  Other / Meta / Re: Fun thought on Bitcointalk having this particular feature. on: September 20, 2023, 11:27:32 PM
Yo, been afraid of expressing yourself simply because you are avoiding backlash or criticism on a public space such as this is quite a funny thought to have. What's the worst that can happen? assuming you get roasted for airing your views on here, that's where it ends. that's one of the perks to anonymity We are in a forum where there's freedom of speech and so what if he gets lashed? He grows a thick skin. Besides, it's not every posts that receives such attack.
It's a good idea or suggestion the Op brought up, but I doubt Theymos will be bothered to implement such a feature since such can be found on our keyboards, right?

I do not think we face any such issue on this forum. You can post any idea/suggestion and people will respond to it in a quite nice way.
I haven't seen people make fun of anyone even if he or she asks a very basic question etc.  Yeah, but if you try to be smart and try to scam people then no one will spare you.

Enabling this feature should be done on the client side, not the forum side. Any client application (in this case, a web browser) can support this feature depending on the platform. And I am willing to bet that there are already many browser extensions or virtual keyboards available with speech-to-text functionality. However, I am not sure how good they are and how effective they would be for forum use.

The voice typing feature is already available in your browser and you can easily use it. It has been explained in the above post too. However, as per my experience, you cannot fully trust voice typing because many times it will understand the wrong word and therefore type in the wrong word. You need to manually check the voice written post before you can actually post it.
