Well at least the Mother didn't have a gun. She could have accidentally shot a different baby while defending herself.
7282  Economy / Speculation / Re: Confused About Coinlab Plan on: March 22, 2013, 05:42:59 PM
Some of the API's aren't working directly from MtGox this morning.
...
Some of the features I use stopped yesterday.  I assumed it was related to coinlab stuff.
7283  Economy / Speculation / Re: Things are happening behind closed doors, very important for Bitcoin things. on: March 22, 2013, 05:40:17 PM
I'd call bull $#!t if it wasn't Vlad. What are you up to bro? Huh
7284  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If Anarchy can work, how come there are no historical records of it working? on: March 22, 2013, 05:35:19 PM
I don't know guys. I think anarchy is like communism. It sounds great on paper, but doesn't scale well beyond a commune.
Anarchy is everything you enjoy in life, and violence is the opposite.

Personally I might do well in an anarchy. But make no mistake I would organize an army and take what I want. I would charge you tribute or burn your village, take slaves, etc.
Join me and be with the strong! In exchange for your unwavering obedience and occasional military service I will allow you to live in peace.
Gota love anarchy!
What you describe is not "anarchy," but an attempt (by you) to set up a state.
Yes. I think my state will dominate any unorganized place. Join me myrkul, with your warrior skillz we will rule like Gods! Think it over, and please accept this slave girl as a token of friendship.
7285  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we compute the loss of the banks? on: March 22, 2013, 05:31:21 PM
You don't make a profit until you sell!

For every seller there is a buyer.

Or spend! Spending a bitcoin is basically selling it for a good or service.

you, and then you win." -Mahatma Gandhi

I'd say we are entering the win phase. Soon we will see all the haters and big mouth/small brain critics come out with their assertion that they always knew bitcoin would succeed. They will claim that they are bitcoin experts now and should be listened to intently.

Too long!

Elevator pitch must be 2-3 minutes max.
Maybe he is only talking to people in really tall buildings?

Anyway, thanks DataPlumber!

7290  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gun freedom advocates - what weapons shouldn't be legally available? on: March 22, 2013, 03:24:13 PM
@Dabs, lol.  Yet, those are the choices.

Having congress decide on our gun laws is like putting the blind in charge of designing the traffic lights. Why would we not listen to people who know what they are talking about? Is it because they are going to tell anti-gun folks something they don't want to hear?

Quote from: idiot dude
well is it? Let's talk to Ron Paul and Ben Bernanke wether or not this really is a currency.

hell yes. That's the only sensible thing this guy said the whole time while repeatedly interrupting the nice ladies. What a crook.

Ask away. Meanwhile we use it as a currency everyday. WTF does Ron Paul have to do with it? lol
7292  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-21 Quartz "Bitcoin is Out of Control" on: March 21, 2013, 08:21:23 PM

Are you still peeing? Because the rally is still going.
7294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price down to 13.7 - How low will it go? on: March 21, 2013, 07:12:26 PM
Oh god, now it's down to -$0.40. That means I owe 40 cents for each coin I own.  Cry
7295  Economy / Speculation / Re: will you speculate at $100? on: March 21, 2013, 07:10:30 PM
No.I will just continue using bitcoin as currency, no matter the price.
7296  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC CRASH on: March 21, 2013, 05:58:04 PM
We've plummeted all the way back down to 72.5 USD/BTC.

We're ruined. We'll have to sell the kids for medical experiments.
lol classic.

But yes, we're ruined. I expect bitcoin to plummet into negative numbers now.   Smiley
7297  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP| Earning BTC online for beginners on: March 21, 2013, 05:38:16 PM
Same as fiat money. You could work for bitcoin, things that can be done over the net are especially useful. Or you could sell something. What do have laying around that you would sell cheep? Think garage sale. You may have to offer it at a low price however, it's hard to get people to part with their coins right now.
7298  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-20 Al Gore: I'm a Big Fan of Bitcoin on: March 21, 2013, 05:03:30 PM
Did we ever get video/more info on this Al Gore thing beyond the reddit/twitter reports?  Would love to see video.
Yeah, this has not been confirmed...Right?

7300  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Hacking Bitcoin on: March 21, 2013, 04:44:42 PM
Yet thieves and vandals have failed to successfully attack the Bitcoin network thus far. But yeah, point taken.

The fact that thieves have failed only mean they didn't tried enough. Think about the vulnerability https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/CVE-2012-4684. There was a time window where an attacker could have taken the whole network down for days.
Did this happened? No. Why? Because we found the vulnerability before the attackers did.

We've spent so much time thinking about Bitcoin security than we think we're a step ahead of the attackers. This is a game we can generally win, but eventually loose.

Best regards, Sergio.

Those are good points. Still it would take a lot of effort, timing and luck to take advantage of a fork. It is also not clear that one could get away with it. I'm not saying we should take our eye off the ball, but there is reason to believe in the security of bitcoin.
