741  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Bitcorp Mining Company - BTCMC 60+ GH/s, clear ASIC upgrade path. on: January 03, 2013, 07:35:36 PM
I sent my info in on the 6th Dec & got this reply "Thank you.  Keep an eye on the thread for more info, and we should have this resolved in the next 2 weeks. "

It's now 4 weeks & even allowing for the holidays some update should be given as to why this is taking over twice as long as planned. Huh

I have received 3 different lists and am attempting to cross reference and verify which listings are accurate.
742  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Question on Stratum + OZcoin on: January 03, 2013, 06:48:29 PM
Well Stratum already lowers the number of stales, I've personally found that a higher diff reduces the number of stales even further. IIRC, Stratum + VarDiff is designed to keep you as close to 18 shares/minute. This keeps the bandwidth relatively constant, regardless of hashrate.

So basically this is a no brainier for my bandwidth constrained locations?

Absolutely.

How is diff determined?  I see it moving between 1-5 pretty frequently.....

Hey all,

What is the advantage of submitting higher difficulty shares?  Is it simply to save bandwidth?

748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Change location of database. on: December 27, 2012, 05:07:47 PM
The blockchain is stored in the data directory, which can be configured with the datadir parameter. For example:
Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -datadir="E:\Data\Bitcoin"
Note that the wallet file is also stored in the data directory.

Symlinks may also be of use to you.

so that command will change the database to sit on the E: drive?
749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Change location of database. on: December 27, 2012, 04:58:40 PM
I thought I wanted to move my .dat file......I was mistaken.

I want to change the location where the blockchain is stored.  I am running out of room on my SSD, but have gobs of network storage.

Can anyone give me a quick guide to changing where the database is stored?
750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Move my .dat file on: December 27, 2012, 04:29:35 PM
Hey folks.....could someone give me a quick tutorial on moving my .dat file to a network drive rather than my C:?

I am filling up fast on my SSD, and need to get it moved to greener pastures.

Any help is appreciated!

There is a lot of I/O that occurs.  I don't know the performance using a remote share, but it can't be pretty.

Anyway, the steps are:

1.) Ensure you have a backup of your wallet.dat

2.) Run Bitcoin-Qt to detach the DB at shut down.
(Right click on Menu ->  options, then mark the checkbox Detach Databases at Shutdown.)
Then close Bitcoin-Qt.

Or, run from the command line:
  C:\> Bitcoin-Qt -detachdb=1

3.) Copy (or move) the entire Bitcoin directory to the new location
[Edit: If copied instead of moved, you can then delete, or rename if unsure, the old directory location.]

4.) Launch Bitcoin-Qt with the -datadir= specifying the new Bitcoin directory

e.g,  for use on drive Z:
   C:\> Bitcoin-Qt -datadir=Z:\Bitcoin

5.) Profit.

I am using a gigabit network to access the shared drive.......that should suffice, no?

752  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] BFL Single on: December 26, 2012, 07:46:14 PM
I'm looking for another BFL Single. I prefer units that run at a higher firmware, but i"m not picky. I'm located on the East Coast, USA. PM me what you got. Escrow is preferred unless I trust you (no offense if I don't).

How much you looking to spend?

Are they new or used?

If new, I will offer you 20 BTC.

Hey miners,

Hope you enjoyed the holidays.  We had office holidays christmas and christmas eve, and are back in the office today.

Payouts will be going out shortly.  Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Chris

Thanks as always Chris!

Merry Christmas.

Hey Coinlab......can we expect to see payouts today?

757  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB 5970 or 5870 or 6950 or 7970 on: December 20, 2012, 06:51:32 PM
I value 5870 at $100 or less, not so sure on the 6950.  But, probably not going to swing $140 or so when 5970 are available for $200 + shipping in another thread.

Don't like paypal?  No problem, I have about $230 in coins right now available.  But I won't be sending anybody cash in the mail.  Smiley

I will sell a pristine 5970 for your $230 in BTC.   shipped.

I created a new miner.....connected the machine to the pool, it is submitting shares fine, but on the stats page it shows as offline.

Any suggestions?
