Here is what I don't understand - the chargebacks on PayPal I understand..

But what if I set up a CC gateway and accept payments, would it be the same?

What if on eBay I set up to sell a printed voucher and mail a physical representation?
746  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Accepting Credit Card for Coins[Limited Stock!] on: October 17, 2012, 12:53:08 AM
Wait, so you are basically setting up a gateway to accept CC payments for BTC? I'd buy some BTC with CC. Am I understanding right?
747  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cheapest way to get cash to MtGox / Fastest on: October 17, 2012, 12:49:59 AM
No thoughts on this? Even bank transfer seems to want 4 dollars. Cheapest I can figure is PayPal gift to someone, but I can only provide feedback from eBay, Gametz, Neogaf.com, etc...  Anyone interested in selling? PM or leave messsage.

I have several hundred dollars I'd ike into Mt Gox, but the best way I can seem to find is a CVS or Walmart from bitinstant will supposedly do it for 4%. That is a bit steep for me.. but is that the best way to do it this time of night? etc?
752  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: trading for mt gox vouchers? on: October 15, 2012, 12:12:00 AM
Can't seem to edit but I see the first sticky. I am would be open to other payment methods such as amazon or at your suggestion so long as it is timely.

755  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Want to TRADE/Sell 5870 for 5850 or on: September 09, 2012, 04:34:28 AM
You want to trade a 5870 for a 5850? Why?

Seems to be better off for the configuration I'm running. I like my above average results with 5850 that I had. I bought two 5870s while looking for 5850s. However I get at best the average medium on the results regardless of my best ability at tinkering. It seems like the 5870s have more value than the 5850s, so I'd like to work something out to my advantage or a deal of some kind for someone else who wants to trade up. I don't literally want to do a straight trade for a 5850 for one of my 5870s, but if I were to sell on eBay the fees after PayPal rip me up. Half my use of bitcoin is to get around this whole world.

Further I want to make a second machine for my girlfriend to run at her place and use when she needs it for school. 5850s are a little cheaper and run lower on power, so ideally I'd like to own four of them (I have one currently). I'd, for example, love to trade the two 5870s for three 5850s. I think that's close to market accuracy, no?
756  Economy / Computer hardware / Want to TRADE/Sell 5870 for 5850 or on: September 09, 2012, 04:16:29 AM
Looking to sell (USD PayPal or Bitcoin) my 5870 ATI cards of which I have two available. I am looking for either an amount exchange or a quasi trade including a 5850 card (I need up to 3 of these). Anyone interested or looking for a 5870? I have little feedback here, but plenty on eBay, gametz, PayPal, Neogaf.

I've been getting a lot of "Lost connection to bitcoind" lately. Last week it hardly ever happened. Anyone else been having this problem or know of a fix?

I find this happens when my internet is shaky.
758  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [Poll]Will you be switching to ASIC? on: August 16, 2012, 09:17:56 PM
Well, I could say you have to have a banking license, 'just to participate' in banking business. You need a license for frequency 'just to participate' in communication business. And there are no small licenses for starters, i.e. not affordable for an average person. Bitcoin personal banking system lets you 'mine' at very low cost. Right now you're complaining that in order to dig for gold you have to buy a shovel, since all gold on the surface is gone and you can't just take it with your hands, so to speak. However, unlike shovels for gold digging, ASICs can be eventually integrated into other, more casual items, like cars, public bitcoincard processing hubs, even laptops and cellphones. That's if Bitcoin becomes widely accepted....

I think trying to compare mining bitcoin to two federally regulated industries is a bit of a straw-man argument. With that said I'm not even going to bother talking about those points.  As per your shovel and mining gold analogy:  I view digging with your hands akin to CPU mining and the shovel akin to GPU mining.  You can mine for gold with a shovel, sure. You can also pot plants; dig a grave, ditch, hole; and clean up dog shit.  A shovel is a pretty versatile tool that can be used for many other things than digging for gold.  In fact, a lot of people already own shovels so re-purposing the shovel to dig for gold means anyone who owns a shovel can potentially dig for gold.  I suppose one could say that the FPGA is like a back-ho.  It's much more efficient, however it costs more to purchase and at the end of the day, in most places you need to be a ticketed operator to use one.  I view the ASIC kind of like a specialized industry specific machine:

It's going to be insanely efficient at serving it's purpose (ignoring cost), and it's not something you have just kicking around the backyard.  It's also got no real use outside of it's intended industry.

Good thinking, love this analogy.  I am still very skeptical of ASIC though.. we will see. I don't know much about mining, though. Just what I learn inexorably.

How do I switch the method of payment/participation for my "main" account? How do I even log in to one of the worker accounts? Hm..
Click on the worker name in that table.

I can do that if I make a worker, but my "main" worker has no "name" so I can't click on it.
