@jwinterm. But allowing Asics was never in the roadmap of any cryptocoin, or was not something that was planned. It would also be stupid to change the algorithm to make it easier for Asic manufacturers. In Aeon's situation, it might have been better not have have hardforked to another mining algorithm.

When the community voted for a hardfork to kill the Asics, it cut its supply of hashrate and made the coin more insecure. I reckon it was a shortsighted move.
7763  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-28] Bitcoin Could Make Credit Cards Obsolete on: August 31, 2018, 12:34:15 AM
payment processing (and the fees born out of it) is only one side of the equation, though. credit cards aren't just a replacement for cash. they offer credit lines, and rewards.

IMO, a lot of consumer spending is fueled by access to easy credit and spending rewards from card issuers (cash back, airline miles, etc). how is BTC going to satisfy those needs?

merchants need to accept what consumers want to use. it's not the other way around. for BTC to make credit cards obsolete, consumers must prefer BTC to using credit. transitioning away from a credit-fueled and high-spending/no-saving consumer economy is a much larger issue than "merchants pay high credit card fees, BTC is better."

Also, by accepting that bitcoin could make credit cards obsolete as fact clearly puts the ignorance of the article writer on display.

Consumer credit provided by centralized fnancial institutions in exchange for payment in interest will never be obsolete.
7764  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-27] The Chinese crypto community doesn't seem to be bothered by the ban on: August 30, 2018, 01:58:22 AM
Maybe you have not heard, but there was a news of a ban in Beijing that will not allow all types of cryptocoin conferences in the city including bitcoin conferences.

Also, the news might not be newsworthy for you, but it is significant in the idea that enforcing financial regulations on the cryptospace would be very hard.

One district of Beijing, the most symbolic one of their power as far as I can tell.

I've given up on getting any facts out of China. The place is a black hole of lies, spin and outright bollocks.

The less China the better as far as I'm concerned. Nothing good has come of their involvement.

Agreed. I also found out that it was only a district in Beijing hehehe. The news media is making it appear bigger than what the FUD is but it is just another nothing burger.

But I reckon China's bitcoin involvement is not all bad and it can also help the cryptospace's economic development if they were not so afraid.
7765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: John McAfee Says Privacy Coins are the Future....Name your top 3 Small Caps on: August 30, 2018, 01:35:12 AM
privacy coins LOL because everybody need them LOL

Of course - Bitcoin etc. are not private enough for buying weapons and drugs so we need (shitty) privacy coins (outside of top 200) Smiley

He maybe also does not know the term fungibility yet or he is only trolling hehehe.

In any case, my top small cap privacy coin is Aeon. I reckon it is the next best cryptonote coin after Monero. The lead developers are smooth who is also a lead developer of Monero and stoffu, a member of the Monero Research Lab.

@jwinterm. I do not understand. What would the difference be if Bitmain makes an Asic for a cryptocoin that is slow to verify using lowend CPUs and a for a cryptocoin that verifies quickly using the same CPU? How would more Asic proficiency differ between the 2?
7767  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-28] Bitcoin Breaks Above $7,000 as Crypto Market Rallies Into Green on: August 29, 2018, 02:47:38 AM
because if the SEC does not approve the ETF, we will have a price drop and if the price remains at  $7000. Then we will see a price drop to below $ 6000.

Investors should really forget about ETF. It isn't the end of the world, it is good to get but it is after all a step that is facultative.

Unfortunately we do not have much demand, we have many obstacles caused by many governments then the price of bitcoin and altcoins will not increase much unless it is approved some ETF or bakkt bring many institutional investors
Unfortunately, it is true but it is all a matter of time before acceptance.

Also, if bitcoin stays over $7000 and then moves on to go over $10,000 without any of the ETFs getting approval, would only demonstrate that we are manipulated into accepting as truth that we need an ETF for bitcoin's success.
7768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2018-07-12: update to 0.12.5.0+] on: August 29, 2018, 02:38:12 AM
@smooth. Would it have been better if the Aeon community just welcomed and embraced Asics in hindsight? I reckon the community might have acted in too much haste and fear to reject the Asic mining companies, that might bring Aeon to the moon.

@smooth. I would really like to listen to your personal thoughts in this subject matter if it is ok hehehe. I know I might appear to be speaking from greed that Aeon might have already reached $5 if Asics were welcomed with open arms. But I know it would not only be me who would like to see that occur. All of us do.
7769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: August 29, 2018, 01:57:34 AM
@wavessurfing. But it is still very far from where Aeon's activity should be. Scams like bytecoin have more undeserving activity hehehe. It is lucky to be listed in a large volume exchange like Binance.

I hope Aeon will find its own luck also.

7770  Economy / Speculation / Re: As bitcoin plunges, mega-bull Tom Lee stands by his $25,000 target on: August 29, 2018, 01:18:09 AM
It became evident in my mind that Tom Lee's $20,000 to $25,000 target is as easy to reach for something that is as volatile as bitcoin.

Will we, the critics of the forum who are uneducated in economics and finance be proven as the monkeys or will Tom Lee be the monkey?
7771  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might be $5000 short term, $1000 longterm if support is broken - Sosnick on: August 29, 2018, 01:03:28 AM
@cellard. The bears might be overly pessmistic or they are biased towards bitcoin's failure as a currency and as an investment. Also, others are paid to say negative things about it like article about Jordan Belfort, the wolf of Wall Street mentioning that bitcoin is a ponzi scheme.
7772  Economy / Gambling / Re: BETKING: What Happened to the 50 BTC Jackpot? Was It Just A Fraud? on: August 28, 2018, 02:36:25 AM
Thank you for this public service. I hope you will work on other ICO scams in the altcoin announcement subforum. Also, do you have plans to take your case from the witchhunt, FUD, angry user phase to a full working lawsuit to have the authorities do their job?

yeah but whats the point of making a thread stating MUST AVOID BETKING , I mean he does care about investors right ? if people avoided Betking investors will actually lose more so what's the point ??

as a player you should have a perfect experience with betking , yeah investors agreed on ICO terms and lost money but the site for players is good actually
I have to admit you are the perfect lawyer for the online gambling community! Cheesy

I already informed that BetKing commited an investment fraud with not fulfilling the investment contract seriously. 30% of the investment should have been spent to built up the casino, what clearly did not happen!

Means investors can withdraw from the contract and demand their crypto currencies back!

Betking together with all ICOs that have caused the bagholders of their tokens to lose an amount of their investment in the bear market. I reckon if you go after one, you should go after all. I suggest you to also expand your service to token fraud ICOs.
7773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: August 28, 2018, 02:04:17 AM
@pitiflin. The multiple scenarios story might only be a bluff, I reckon. What do the writers have to continue doing from season 7 to the final season? There is only way, no more politics and drama.

Also, the dates might be revealed on winter hehe.
The actors have apparently said that multiple scenarios have been shot, but Massie Williams did tell in a talk show that she knows the ending of GoT.

I read an article recently and GoT is more likely to be released after May 2019 and not before that. We still have a LONG way to go.

Jon snow - Don't hate me, but he got his fame for couple of seasons now. He also died once and as much drama this series brings, I guess his head will be cut off - rip Jon Snow Cry
Tyrion Lannister - Everyone I know who watches the series likes him. Therefore for the sake of surprise he won't be the ruler, nor he will die either. Probably hides in a wine cellar for the rest of his life Cool
Sansa Stark - Has gone through a lot. In case she would be the chosen one, she would hand it over to Arya - 100%.

The ruler:
Daenarys Targaryen - Too obvious? But she got those dragons Cheesy If anyone plays Counter-Strike, it's just too over powered like CZ
The Night King - This can't be happening, right? Huh
Arya Stark - Her story has been building for a long time, just like Jon Snow's. Now it's her time to shine Wink

Cheers,
Karl on a lunch break
A possible outcome could be Danaerys's child, and Tyrion to be their mentor.

Arya definitely won't be the Ruler, she'll probably go back to the Faceless men after the War between the whitewalkers and humans.

Danaerys mostly won't survive till the end.

Yes there might be multiple scenarios but nothing that would largely alter the ending, I reckon. What in the story else is there to tell?

@Bitcoincasino.io. Watch the season 8 leaks in the Talkingthrones channel in Youtube. It will change your prediction hehehe.
7774  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might be $5000 short term, $1000 longterm if support is broken - Sosnick on: August 28, 2018, 01:45:09 AM
@btc_angela. Hehehe we should never say it is completely out of the picture. But if the support on $6000 is strongly holding, that longterm $1000 possibility will not be very great.
7775  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-27] The Chinese crypto community doesn't seem to be bothered by the ban on: August 28, 2018, 01:31:42 AM
They only banned Crypto currency ICOs in my opinion, so I do not know why this is news worthy. In most instances it is business as usual and the miners are still mining and the people are still trading. I know some of the miners moved their operations to other countries, when the ICO ban started.  Roll Eyes

In the end it comes down to politics and the Chinese governments obsession to control all aspects of their citizens lives. Bitcoin is a threat, because it can be used for capital flight and it gives Chinese citizens financial freedom and their government hate that.  Tongue

It would be better to post the original Bloomberg article, rather than the Cointelegraph one.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-08-24/not-even-515-million-in-new-tether-can-help-this-crypto-dump?srnd=cryptocurriences

Everyone should read Kraken's article disproving the news media's clickbait and the scientific paper FUD that USDT is printed to manipulate bitcoin.

In any case, I have already told everyone. USDT is issued when the price of bitcoin falls because there is more demand for USDT. Also when there is more demand for USDT, there should be more supply to maintain the $1.00 peg.

I agree with you that is how the peg should be maintained in the ideal case. New USDT should be issued in exchange for dollars, and the dollars should be held safely by the Company issuing the USDT. It is the latter part of the equation that people are not certain about.

Agreed. But that is another story. What the mainstream news media, and also most of the supposedly cryptoinformed bitcoin news media, together with those scientific researchers are doing is make FUD that those USDT issued are made to pump bitcoin, which is not true.

7778  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-08-27] The Chinese crypto community doesn't seem to be bothered by the ban on: August 27, 2018, 02:06:13 AM
This is what I have told everyone. The Chinese government can ban bitcoin and all other cryptocoins but real enforcement will be the problem. No government can stop the people from using a decentralized infrastructure for money.

Also, enforcing a cryptocoin ban on centralized systems like Alipay and Wechat will not stop the cryptospace.

China is continuing to enforce its ban on cryptocurrency inside its borders, and some companies appear to be responding in kind, with reports coming out that Alipay and WeChat have suspended trading on their platforms. On the other hand, crypto developers in the nation are all but thumbing their nose to the increased regulatory pressure, with Eric Meltzer, a partner at China’s largest blockchain fund InBlockchain, describing it as a ‘nothingburger.’

Meltzer went on to note that the Chinese ban on exchanges is a year old, and despite this the Chinese exchange scene is doing quite well.

Similarly, Chinese crypto developer Bobby Lee is not at all worried about the health of the crypto market, taking to Twitter to predict that bitcoin will trade at $60,000 with a circulation of $1 Trillion in the next few years.

Tom Lee stands by his $20,000 target again. That kind of bullishness is very impressive. I reckon someone should commision that a statue to be made in his image and declare him a bitcoin super hero hehehe.

But what might be his most convincing argument.

Bitcoin jumped from $6000 in the middle of last November to $20,000 by year’s end.
