2. how to get food with BTC. The day these two are possible, I'm out of this feckin system

Speaking of....I'm new here. What happened to bitlist? If I wanted to sell food grown in my backyard, It would seem a craigslist type place would be the best since it wouldn't be worth shipping rates for food. Is there a place people are listing food by location now?

As far as I'm aware https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade is the only listing of businesses that accept bitcoins. You can also try marketplace board. I'm sure if you are selling food, there would be a lot of people interested
782  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Piano album for 1BTC on: April 30, 2011, 07:22:33 PM
SgtSpike,

I would advise against the method of paymend since everybody can see every transaction on http://blockexplorer.com/. Better way to go about it is to send a pm with newly generated address to each person who'd like to buy your album. This way you'll know who paid and others won't be able to see where and when the funds were sent

 Grin lol
gonna post it on 4chan
784  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Physical challenge! Dare or double dare. on: April 30, 2011, 04:45:18 PM
I dare you make a sign that says on one side "Fuck banks - use Bitcoin" and has bitcoins logo + bitcoin.org on the other and walk around your town all day long. I'll give you 1BTC if you can provide timestamped pics every hour for 8 hours where you are holding this sign in public places with people around. Extra 1BTC if we get a video recording of you holding this sign and shouting: "People wake the fuck up!"

I realize the price is a bit low for the task at hand, but that's all I can give you atm. Besides others may be along soon to up this if they think it's a good idea

edit: I just realized I should add a disclaimer that this offer is only valid until 1BTC reaches $10

I am too contemplating closing all my accounts, but I can't find a way for two things: 1. how to receive wages from my employer, 2. how to get food with BTC. The day these two are possible, I'm out of this feckin system

788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we prevent money laundering and assasinations? on: April 30, 2011, 02:17:37 AM
cypherdoc I would recommend reading this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Anonymity

In short, client mixes funds and if any of your addresses can be associated with your real id, then it's game over. However this same principle can be used in reverse, which is explained in the link above.
789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What sort of authentication websites are out there? on: April 30, 2011, 01:38:04 AM
I am not aware of any websites you can check businesses, but you can definitely visit http://bitcoin-otc.com/ web of trust and check individuals.
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin address changes? on: April 30, 2011, 01:10:19 AM
Your client generates new address for every transaction. All your old addresses  are still valid and can be seen in Settings>Your Receiving Addresses. It is convenient because if you are a seller you can give every customer a new address and know if they paid or not

Gentlemen, it will soon be time to put that money you earned from mining back into the economy and buy few more cards/miners  Wink
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should bitcoin wiki allow links to christian religious services? on: April 29, 2011, 04:01:08 PM
They should be banned if they overwhelmingly make the bitcoin community look bad. Like drugs, child porn or murder for hire. It's more a moral issue than a political and legal issue.

Moral issue to whom? To the same depraved and rotting society that thinks funding murder and torture with their tax is ok or don't even have the capacity to understand that? I'm afraid, I disagree!
793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal for breaking "community advertising rules" deadlock on: April 29, 2011, 03:45:53 PM
The poll on the other thread suggests that majority would like to keep those listings

Edit: and as far as your "post your identity" proposition goes, I think it's absurd. IMHO it goes against everything bitcoin is
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Minimum fee-free transaction (split from 0.3.21 discussion) on: April 29, 2011, 02:27:47 PM
0.001 BTC at today's exchange rate is uncomfortably close to the estimated network-wide cost of processing a bitcoin transaction (which is about 0.001 US dollars).

The danger is a flood of micro-transactions that keep everybody's CPUs busy, driving up that hidden cost and, eventually driving people to stop running bitcoin because the costs aren't worth the benefits.

Also: lets not confuse the "how many free transactions" with "what is the smallest transaction amount you can send."

Is waiting till BTC/USD rate increases our only option?
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Disappear Day on: April 29, 2011, 04:10:01 AM
I don't think we do, but if we wanna celebrate something the first release date could be a good date
796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: New OS install...where'd my wallet go? on: April 29, 2011, 04:06:43 AM
No problemo!
Here to help  Wink
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: New OS install...where'd my wallet go? on: April 29, 2011, 03:58:29 AM
First reason: you forgot to copy your wallet.dat. It goes in c:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin
Note, that AppData is a hidden directory.

Second: you have to download all the blocks to see the correct balance
798  Economy / Economics / Re: First Nation to keep Bitcoin as Official Reserves on: April 29, 2011, 03:26:30 AM
I think it is more likely to get widely adopted and if it got widely adopted, it would get officially recognized
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Disappear Day on: April 29, 2011, 03:19:37 AM
Do you think we should celebrate a special occasion for the disappearance of satoshi from our world?

 Cheesy That's totally irrational.
The man created best thing since sliced bread, devoted a lot of time to it and you are proposing to celebrate his disappearance as a special occasion?

That's the same as christians wearing crosses around their necks - makes no sense. Do you think Jesus is gonna want to see a cross when he comes back?(Bill Hicks' wisdom)

The major difference is that Iceland is in the top 10 on the standard of living chart while Baltic states are in a pretty dire state
