81  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion about the Merit System on Airdropped Merits. on: May 15, 2019, 01:51:37 AM
There is actually no point, some of this old members aren't that active right now in the forum yet have contributed  from the forum alot befor
Clarifying a little bit, demotions should categorise forum users into two groups:
- Inactive users: They are inactively in the forum at least one year, maybe a continously 12 months or separate ones; and they don't actively posting in the
last 12-month-period. Because, if we don't define the term inactive users well, we might mis-categorise users whom simply login their accounts, but don't make a single post.
- Active users: They are actively both log-in their accounts, and actively posting during last 12-month-period.
Demotions should aim at the second group of active users, because it is a big joke if you are actively post 1000 post last 12-month-period and don't earn a single merit.
For inactive users, they can maintain their ranks.
82  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion about the Merit System on Airdropped Merits. on: May 14, 2019, 11:34:18 PM
OP, this issue of rank demotion via merit reduction has been thrown up in the recent past without a clear solution. As you can see, the house is already divided on it here again. Well, I believe Theymos' reticence on it may likely be pointing towards him creating more rank categories than demoting early users without earned merits. We may likely see this change sooner than we anticipate.
In the past, the population of self made users is small, so it likely was reason with theymos did not consider about demotions on higher ranks, and only took actions with Junior Member rank. However, maybe now and might be in the next one or two years, when population of self made users expanded, demotions on higher ranks might be seriously considered, I believe. There should not have grand-father-rights for old users whom are not able to earn a single merit over 3 or 4 years.
83  Other / Meta / Re: Merit buy sell...😎 Merit fraud on: May 14, 2019, 11:11:14 PM
The OP shows that merit system actually works well, as expected. More than 666 posts without a single merit, and still being a Newbie. We would not see such Newbie with 666 posts and 406 activities without the merit system.
84  Other / Meta / Re: New sort of plagiarism on: May 14, 2019, 05:58:43 PM
For Diamond Member,
There are so many Warnings. Forum rules, guides, and lots of Ban Appeals in Meta board. I don't think we need personal warnings for such things that repeatedly asked and answered in the forum. Users should spend their time to read them. If they don't spend time to read them, learn from them, they should not complain when someday perma-bans dropped on them. If they are lazy and want to learn with their own stories, let they do and get what they want. It's fair.
85  Other / Meta / Re: The current permaban situation is ridiculous on: May 14, 2019, 05:24:47 PM
Changes from perma-bans to long temp-bans with signature bans and demotion on accounts that won't earn required merits on the two year anniversary of merit system. I don't think demotion should aim at high earned merit requirements. 10 - 25 earned merits required to maintain ranks are enough. Then, interesting thing will happen when demoted users automatically forget about their accounts. They will automatically permanent waste their accounts into Recycle Bin, nearly the same as perma bans. After massive perma-bans and huge spendable merits destroyed, there will be harder to abuse merit system. Maybe most of airdropped merits and circulating merits from them have gone (destroyed), so a new refresh wave for forum might occur with demotion.
86  Other / Meta / Re: The new forum, Why not smf2? on: May 14, 2019, 02:56:06 PM
I checked crypto-currencies site (a trial site from one of forum users with source code of Epochtalk. I saw that the font size is large, maybe due to I am familiar with default font-size of bitcointalk.org after months using it. I am not sure how that guy run the site, with adjustments from source code or not, but I would prefer to see UI like the Epochtalk site, that looks more professional, and will smaller font size, a traditional medium font size. I understand that it's always hard to switch from familiar one to a new one.
87  Other / Meta / Re: Just another case of BAN . Help @hilariousandco @theymos on: May 11, 2019, 04:40:13 PM
"....." is plagiarism as it's posted without a ref link. I am glad photos are not considered as many images posted on the forum are not copyright-free.
" .... " is not considered as plagiarism just in case you use common phrases that everyone knows  (theymos said it is not plagiarism, even in universities).

Quote blocks means you put contents inside this block, without author names, or links of topics/ posts, but you clearly state that it is not yours own words.
Code:
[quote]
Contents
[/quote]

Photos:
Publication of copyright photos without permission (plagiarism), personal data..
Quote
- That's not plagiarism.
88  Other / Meta / Re: Just another case of BAN . Help @hilariousandco @theymos on: May 11, 2019, 03:03:28 PM
You are wrong. Quote blocks accepted and are not considered as plagiarism.
89  Other / Meta / Re: Ban user Lumen111 on: May 10, 2019, 09:16:50 PM
You should wait for hours, then someone will point it out.
As always proofs of plagiarism found, and they are not English posts. There are likely more plagiarised posts, but a single plagiarised post is enough to close your case. Staff actually shown three plagiarised posts. Another reason to think that plagiarism is what caused your permanent ban is you posted in four languages (at least). That's abnormal. Some of your posts are potentially plagiarised posts like this: New sort of plagiarism
Fast check, you actually posted in four (maybe more than four) languages, English, Korean, Chinese, and Russian, so I guess plagiarism is highly reason of your permanent ban.
90  Other / Meta / Re: Ban user Lumen111 on: May 10, 2019, 09:54:55 AM
I do not plagiarize !!!
Multiple posts likely are not reasons of your permanent ban, like LoyceV said, if it is the first time you banned. There are three times of temporary bans before you get permanent ban in case it does not come from plagiarism.

Who knows you did not plagiarise? I don't spend my time to check your posts because most of them were not written in English, but others might check your post history. You should wait for hours, then someone will point it out.
If you actually did not plagiarise, it is good because you will have chance to see your permanent ban switched to temporary ban. Just wait for more proofs.
91  Other / Meta / Re: Ban user Lumen111 on: May 10, 2019, 09:23:06 AM
you think for two years I can remember everything that is written in the rules?
If there were violations, the moderator could indicate this immediately, I would draw the appropriate conclusions.
You can apply a temporary ban so that the user thinks about his mistakes.
So, now you blame on forum admin or mods?
You should at least read this one first (and should read more on forum rules);
  • Plagiarism: If you copy some text from somewhere, then you should have a good reason for it, and you must link to the source. Doing otherwise is plagiarism. Changing a few words around doesn't matter. If we find that you plagiarized, then you absolutely will be permanently banned, even if we find it years after you did it.
  • Multi-posting: Do not post twice in a row in a topic. Instead, edit your old post.
  • Low-content posts: Do not post low-content garbage like "agreed!", "nice project!", etc. You can be banned for this, and it's also pointless if you want to increase your rank, since you will never get merit for such posts.

Warning: Anyone caught copying other users' posts or plagiarising content from elsewhere on the web will be immediately permabanned. You shouldn't need a warning to know that this isn't acceptable under any circumstances.
92  Other / Meta / Re: Ban user Lumen111 on: May 10, 2019, 08:55:31 AM
if I repeated the message, only my own.
I am promoting projects.
Advertising in the branches of services is not prohibited on the forum.
Honestly, please tell me have you ever read forum rules?
93  Other / Meta / Re: Ban user Lumen111 on: May 10, 2019, 08:45:32 AM
where was it reported?
Who reported your bad posts or when they reported are not matter with you. The matter is you should spend a minute to remember that you actually did copy & paste post from other sources (beyond the forum) or from other forum users' posts without source links or quote block. Or if you did not remember, you should check your post history, most of time such copy & paste posts are long ones. If it is what you did in the past, you deserved permanent ban, and you won't have chance to see your ban lifted because I don't think (just my guess) you are a really asset of the forum. An asset of forum means you are a member whom did lots of contributions to the forum community.

Fast check, you actually posted in four (maybe more than four) languages, English, Korean, Chinese, and Russian, so I guess plagiarism is highly reason of your permanent ban.
No source link and maybe duplicate posts in different languages, like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2449967.msg25449264#msg25449264
Additionally, bumps in a row, more than once in a single day (but this reason might lead to only temp ban):

94  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: May 10, 2019, 03:51:47 AM
Here is my address that I will always have:

1DJtKvKFdSaFDnaqwMEwwh4MrMkzeeUicJ
Quoted, but I have some suggestions for you. Posting a bitcoin address here is good but not enough to prove your ownership of the account, for now, and for future. You should sign a message from the above bitcoin address. Please sign a message and post it here, then me or someone else will help you by quoting, and verifying it. If you don't know how to sign a message, here you go: How to sign a message. Signed message is a more convincing and valuable proof of your account ownership.
95  Other / Meta / Re: Why important topics are on off-topic board? on: May 10, 2019, 03:13:51 AM
Thread about binance hack is almost available on all the sections
Exactly, so if someone want to discuss about Binance hack because it is very hot recent hours (especially when Changpeng Zao raised his idea on Bitcoin Rollback), they should join current available topics, using Search and finding the most appropriate topics to join discussions. Some of available topics are trash ones, so they can ignore such ones and join more comprehensive ones. However, in general such discussion topics mostly contain loads of trash posts. Creating new discussion topic on Binance hack, is obviously pointless and abundant.
96  Other / Meta / Re: Why important topics are on off-topic board? on: May 10, 2019, 02:02:26 AM
The first two topics are perfect places for spamming, whilst the last topic on Github issues contains some useful information, but it is too short, and maybe does not directly relates to bitcoin or specific altcoin. It is too general, so I guess it is why the last topic is categorized as off-topic. In my opinion, off-topic topics don't mean that they are pointless topics. Sometimes, some of them are very valuable and helpful topics. Whenever I see valuable off-topics, I noted them down for later use. In my opinion, at beginnings they are not off-topic ones, but days, weeks or months later their born-days, mods removed them to Off-topic board for some reasons. However, if you feel such topics are helpful, simply bookmark them for later use (for you own interests, or for future reference to help others).
I have my own topic on Bookmark in Off-topic as well.

97  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I get the reason for deleting a post? on: May 09, 2019, 01:19:10 PM
In this case it is because off-topic, and I agree PM moderators is not the smartest move, what is deleted will likely remain deleted.
theymos emphasizes about off-topic there:
Off-topic replies have become a big problem. From now on, I will be deleting such replies without notice, forum-wide. If your replies disappear, this is probably why.

All replies must respond to the topic's original post in some way, even if they are replying to an on-topic reply. If your reply has nothing to do with the topic post, either add some content that is relevant or create a new topic.

Please report off-topic posts as soon as you see them.
Furthermore, I believe that whenever we get deleted messages, we should stay back and re-consider about potential reasons why our posts deleted. There are some reasons to do this, because if we get deleted posts so many times, maybe we are spammers, and our accounts might be nuked or temporary bans. For higher level users, they rarely fall into such cases, but it makes sense for newbies, whom simply come to the forum, and even don't know all forum rules. Therefore, I support the OP by open the topic and ask for help.
98  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I get the reason for deleting a post? on: May 09, 2019, 10:58:29 AM
Sometimes, if posts were merged from two or three original posts into only one by mods. They often leave a note in private messages sent to authors of those posts. For reasons why post deleted, I doubt that mods have time and intention to leave reasons via PMs. Mostly due to off-topic, one lined, shit posts. Only one case should be considered is off-topic posts can be judged by mods and you don't agree with mods' decisions, but most of time , mods are right. For one-li Ed, spam/ shit posts, there is no need to discuss.
99  Other / Meta / Re: Permanently banned account on: May 08, 2019, 03:02:45 AM
You are wrong,
If you are banned, then all of your alts are banned.
I do not have the quote handy but it is somewhere
Maybe you meant Ban Evasion? I could be wrong but it seems that only when Ban Evasion made, all related accounts will be banned. I read that the person get banned, not account get banned. However, I saw some projects' account get permanently banned, then they create new account and create new ANN topics to have control of those new topics. For example: Deep Onion team's new account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2565496
25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed.[e]
100  Other / Meta / Re: The other side of merit system on: May 08, 2019, 02:59:53 AM
On the other hand, look at my posts... i am ALWAYS trying to help but i will NEVER make Sr. Member just because newbies that need help don't give merit.
I checked your post history and gave you one merit (because I don't have too much, so I gave you only one, and saved rest of my merits for others). You are actually helpful member, so please keep up your good works.
Moreover, someone tend to make lots of reports on their good works (that are abundant and annoying, in my opinion). You can create a report on your good posts today, then if next week you have other good works, you can return to your today report and edit it with updated links to your newest good works. That's fine.
Have you seen this thread before > [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source ? Newbies have no smerit to send. The only way is to be spotted by a senior or Merit source.
By the way, it is interesting to see you have not worn avatar despite of your rank.  Tongue
