Bag holders are more than 2x richer than they were for most of 2015.

Here is hoping you are correct, Adam. Since BTC and LTC are moving in lockstep and trading at odds with XMR/ETH etc.. it makes sense to buy a little LTC if you really believe bitcoin is about to rally hard.

After three and a half years of accumulation I have become patient.
83  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 10, 2016, 10:14:45 AM
The 1D chart looks insanely bullish still.

My only and continuing concern is the 32 million dollars in longs. Though to be fair the majority opened up lower and are in profit.

A concerted move above 471 is going to be needed in the next week or two or this Halving will be a flop.

84  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2016, 04:15:10 PM
And just like that 3000CNY is behind us

Hold on there grasshopper. When we take 471 we can say that 3000 is behind us Smiley

After ignoring all the troll clones there is a very interesting conversation going on here. Keep it up fella's!
86  Economy / Speculation / Re: The halvening is now officially fueling up on: May 08, 2016, 04:28:18 PM
Things being priced in is a misnomer. It can be true for a snapshot in time but markets are dynamic and all it takes as we approach the Halving is for a whale to make a big buy and suddenly trigger a bullish run the entire community has been waiting for.
87  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 08, 2016, 04:26:00 PM
Coiling for a big move again. Could it be up this time? If we breach 471 then FOMO buying should guide us up to retest 500, after which all bets are off. Or more disappointment.

Either way after the Halving that invisible reduction in supply should help to put a base under the price going forward.
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 27, 2016, 01:14:03 PM
Look at the state of the posters mocking a 10 USD drop.

WUT you gonna do when we fly into the 700's after the halving?

Same thing I'll do when pigs start to fly: do more drugs if I find it amusing; less if I do not.

still wasting day after day on here, imagining you contribute in anyway I see
89  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 27, 2016, 12:52:10 PM
Actually it seems like it was all finex. Huobi barely moved.

edit: i think wisdom feed is broken actually..
90  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lose all your capital fast, with MatTheCat and his TA 101A! on: April 27, 2016, 11:35:54 AM
it looks more likely than not to break on this third attempt and overrun on stoploss and fomo buying to 600ish

I would prefer if Mat fomo bought at the very top of the 2016 bubble somewhere between $1600-$3200

Quite pleased to read Matt is not in. He is right that finex longs are eye wateringly high. But that doesn't mean that the price will not break resistance here, potentially setting off a mania and mini bubble into which long interest can drop back. Wall of worry, remember.

As long as you are not leveraged you will still have the same number of bitcoins if the price rises or corrects. Short term trading is a fool's game. Riding the big waves (should they occur) is all that is required to increase your wealth.
91  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 27, 2016, 10:05:19 AM
Why you are an idiot if you don't own as many Bitcoins as you can fit in your pockets:

Let's break out the list:

1)  Because it's literally a free money asymmetric trade, which is why the price is going up.  The odds of losing are far lower than gaining.

2)  There are only two monetary instruments on earth immune to cascading deflationary collapse of fractional reserve fiat from debts and loans going bad:  Bitcoin and Metals.

3)  If I buy gold, it has less utility than Bitcoin.  Where can I spend gold?  Nowhere.  All I can do with gold is mail it back to the gold dealer for 90% or less of what I paid for it.  Bitcoin utility is currently higher than gold for most people, yet the market cap is zilch.  Expect a correction to occur with Bitcoin market cap increasing because this is a truely distorted market if the tiny market cap asset has more acceptance and utility than the huge market cap one.

4)  Market cap is determined by market makers and market makers plan to raise the price.  People don't build 100 million dollar mining facilities and then let the price be determined by sheer luck or fate.

5)  Bitcoin moves in bubbles and there was an extremely long bear market accumulation period with observable hard floors.  Whenever a long accumulation period occurs on an actual liquid asset, the price explodes afterwards.  If you think Bitcoin is not going to see big moves, you are mistaken.

6)  The inflation rate is going from 8% to 4%, so it's actually a real currency now instead of some hyperinflating bullshit.

7)  Because fucking boats

Love it Roach. Smiley

You are right we will bubble at some point. My only concern is the leveraged longs are very high and we could still dip back again before the Halving. Long term it's boats.

13,822 BTC shorted on Finex.
When history doesn't repeat itself, these suckers are gonna be #rektforlife. And this just may be that time.

Logged in to post that. Shorting bitcoin is a really great idea every single time until..oh shit.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 20, 2016, 05:01:02 PM
It will be fascinating to see how xmr reacts to a bitcoin price bubble. Just staying in the 0.002 - 0.003 range will be a great result if bitcoin doubles here.

The super bull outcome would be a repeat of 2013 with selected alts bubbling with bitcoin surge. Not impossible to see xmr either crater here or go up 10x (and still have a tiny market cap).  All depends on the mini whales pulling the strings Smiley

I love when the plan comes together

[...] neutral to bulliesque sentiment. I can see it toping at around 27k to test back 20k after for a very short span

So far so good. Not so sure now if 27k is the top or we can enter 28-30k territory. Whatever a retest to 23k or lower seems quite plausible before resume the minirally

Impressed for the fast recovery, even with the BTC wanting to rally in parallel. Still thinking in another 23k retest and recover to 26 as baseline

Congratulations on the call. Though it is worth mentioning that the drop was, alas, (again) done by one single entity.

Who may well be Dotto..

This market is so small it is really tempting to play myself but I know how that will end. On poloniex the leverage offered is 2.5:1? So just owning 20000 coins lets you double the bid side of the order book down to 0.0020 and also market buy another 25k coins into the ask side to keep up the pressure. The converse is true if you want the price to fall instead.

If I can conceivably move this market with my paltry holdings then imagine how easily manipulated it could be for someone with several hundred btc in XMR or simply sat on exchange.

One big green candle into 0.003 area and suddenly the chart looks like still in uptrend. One big red candle down and suddenly the world is ending.

Place your bets!

On an aside, I've decided to short ETH with my XMR. What do you guys think would be a good time? And can you close the short at any time during the margin period? I think its going to be a long down trend for Eth now albeit a very long timeline do to the Cap.

Risky. It bounced off $7 as I predicted. I called the top on March 8 or 12 afair.

Yes it is as is why I'm asking for input. But without risk there is no reward and it is less riskier I believe than playing XMR market. Smiley

I would gently suggest you leave off playing with leverage!

How big is the XMR blockchain?
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 17, 2016, 08:45:56 PM
It's time to buy more monero.

Holy green shoots! 50K market buy.  Cool

But but but I was told 0.001! Smiley

Any opinions on if there is a bitcoin pump around the halving if Monero will be pegged to bitcoin or fiat?

If BTC rally all alts will lose value compared to BTC. After few weeks when new people come in crypto most alts will start getting value back or even improve it.

Pretty much agree. Also I really find almost impossible the halving pump to happen. When everyone expects something it doesn´t happen.

Edit: It seems we all agree on that topic... maybe we are groupthinking too much??
If you count everybody who says that "everybody expects bitcoin to pump so it won't happen" there's actually quite a few. So not everybody expect bitcoin to pump and that's why it will happen Wink But maybe the pump won't be as big... In any case as long as bitcoin goes up now I think XMR is headed sub 0.002 again.

So easy to spot those who have sold and are egging others on to do so.

The truth is no one here knows what will happen if btc bubbles again. Last time it happened in 2013 litecoin hit 45$.

If you like monero for it's merits then it is up to you to decide whether you should buy any. Asking for advice on here is not likely to achieve anything other than revealing a few vocal posters current positions.
On November 17th LTC was worth $4. At that time BTC had already had a significant rally up to around $460. $4/460 = 0.0087 BTC/LTC. Now that's a pretty low rate, in fact LTC didn't fall much further that year (I believe the bottom was in the 0.007x area).

All altcoins got slaughter until all of sudden, on 18th and forward they started pumping. I know who played a great part in the LTC pump of 2013 and you can read my observations here.

We can't always assume that history will repeat, but if we look at the previous two bubbles the same thing has happened. First altcoins suffer really bad while BTC rallies. Altcoins are reaching new lows and BTC new highs. Then once the BTC rally is getting out of control altcoins starts going up. So, if your argument against the price going lower because LTC went to $48 is going to be logically consistent you will need to expect a significant crash in XMR, perhaps in the lower 0.001x. THEN a pump to something like 0.05.

It's true, nobody really knows what will happen, but this is a speculation topic. I speculate that XMR will be dropping sub 0.002. The reasons why:
1. The violent crash we had breaking all support and taking most by surprise.
2. BTC rally
3. ETH is crashing and I think ETH dragged monero up with it. Now it's going to drag us down.

My theory fails if #2 or #3 changes. I believe I am allowed to voice my opinion regarding the price even if it's negative. Why do you not attack people who think the price is going to $1000 soon? If you're going to be logical consistent with your attacks, you should also attack those who currently hold monero and are talking their book, but in a bullish way.

I suspect that you are emotionally invested, probably in a loss, and attack me because I'm not bullish (short-term). If this topic is going to anything but a circlejerk, opinions from both sides of the table should be accepted.

What is funny is a) you felt my neutral post was aimed at you and b) claiming I am attacking you. Read my post again and calm down. Way to prove a point though. Oh and for the record I think my average buy in for monero is probably well below where you sold yours as this coin has a really strange oscillating price which stung some early entrants.. Smiley
