If you put out a plan with details on exactly what and when something will be completed and then found a trustworthy escrow to hold the funds I think many would be willing to contribute. Once you have delivered the escrow could release the funds.
The issue is not that "not many want really do something for that", but rather that "not many are willing to send money to random strangers on the internet", especially without a concrete plan.

simple and genius... i believe any solid ecommerce fork with monero built in will have tremendous start in anonymous transactions area. In fact Atrides can really expand into this and build himself a niche business in addition to pool operations. if this really takes off i see great anon ecommerce platform that would be pretty much adaptable to any business model.
I don't mind at all if someone else will develop freebazaar. how mentioned, it is an opensource project, free for everyone. That's just the opportunity for Monero to do this faster than the other and attract a great attention. no matter who does this, the point is to get as quicker as possible. the best thing would be if "original" Openbazaar would just add monero, we could safe time.. but they're moving very slowly themselves. I wrote to someone by pm, this is a serious "full-time" project, not an "after-work-evening-job", who can work for free? openbazaar devs don't earn anything from developing, they asked the community about donation, since last spring they got 19.7BTC, no wonder that it isnot ready yet.. everone is delighted with the idea, but not many want really to do something for that.. |

Quite frankly, I think OpenBazaar itself is overhyped.
1. Actually, decentralized places are the next revolution level where the markets will climb to. Now today's platforms (ebay, amazon, alibaba...) dominate, setting their own rules, unprofitable to sellers and buyers. the only thing to do for people is the decentralized way of doing business. OpenBazaar for certain, not overhyped, but the beginning of next time! especially, because of prohibitions, limits of various countries, departments etc.. such decentralized directions are the natural evolution of trading. decentralized market is a defence for byuer as well as for seller from the third side. 2. the decentralized platform means a decentralized coin, so that it won't be possible to control from this side as well. Monero is the best, ideal in this conception, better than Bitcoin. altought, Monero's got disadveantades compared to Bitcoin in its small capitalization, lack of popularity. 3. OpenBazaar itself is not ideal at the moment, in its embryo state from technical side as well as its usability. but with time, with demand and satisfaction, when people will see its benefits, it will be much improved. OUr goal is creating of a stable secure ground ready for usage. |

I'd definitely chip in for this. Is there a place we can post info and updates where everyone can log-in? If we will gather a foundation till 6.01.15, I'll post out more detailed plan, the list of backers. we'll organize a closed crowdfunding-backers group on google docs and I'll keep the members up-to-date. This is a genial idea, especially would be for Monero, that's able to bring Monero to Real World. I think we have to deal fast because of our main competitor and also of changing character of cryptoworld. Monero's technical site is strong, but only infrastructure around it will get the sense and increase its price and capitalization many times more. Some users may have disconnects with node after some time. The reason is not clear yet. I myself extra tested the client on the slow channel (distance to server 2.5K km), the wallet from scratch, loaded all blocks with one disconnection. The other question, since I've just seen that pool administrator Artides inside thread: How to flush a mined to adress onto 0,- ballance? Leaving mining dust today might get shrugged of, but I have to consider that 0,0xy XMR left behind could one day end up valued like "other coins" had been, then could be like $99 you just forgot inside a pant's pocket.
From some time I made payouts rounded to 0.1 XMR. It was made due to reduce of dust in blockchain and wallets. And the rest (0.0xxx) stays on the account balances till next payout. For active miners it's not problem, the new earning will be added here. I have transferred always manually any balances if somebody ask. Now I have Idea that I will collect inactive accounts and will proceed autopayout for all balances one time per week. |

Atrides tweet something so that we can all retweet! So node.moneroclub.com:8880 means that one can only use simplewallet! Though it also means that we have to trust the node, right? I just tried it and it works fine I havent send XMR in the wallet though. Yes, "node" is just a tool for those, who constantly had problems with deamon. You can use MyMonero, or only Simplewallet with Moneroclub-Node, or install both Wallet and Daemon. Currently node has only one daemon-node, in beta-test. Getting of blocks works and sending of transactions as well. Similar to mymonero with just using common wallet. Additional nodes will be added soon on other dedicated servers for failover. Regarding security - I added Moneroclub node to ForkGuard. In addition, node doesn't known your private keys, so that is impossible to do something with your balances. Your simplewallet sends already signed transactions. Other thoughts already written by fluffypony and smooth |
