It would be very helpful if the "import your private key" feature be added to the mymonero.com service.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

After much discussion and such, it is take to vote on emission curve. This is ONLY for MEW members (you can apply if you want). For technical reasons, you can access the link without being a MEW member but your vote will not be taken into consideration. Also, discussions on this thread will be moved to the dicussion thread or deleted

XMR emission, actual voting

I can still make some changes on the wording (or the closing date) if you want - but the options for voting are not negotiable anymore.

Yay! Go core team go!

mymonero.com is very important around christmas.  it's the only satisfying way to gift xmr to a non-technical recipient.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.  Give a man a Poisson distribution and he eats at random times independent of one another, at a constant known rate.

XMR is a good anonymous POW coin, SDC is a good anonymous POS coin

Let's be friends, XMR guys  Wink

Cryptonote protocol is unites us
How about discuss SDC on your own thread, and discuss XMR here Smiley
The reason why he posted here is because there are some people bashing Monero on the SDC thread. I suppose he kind of wants to apologise for the behaviour on the SDC

Yay! Go core team go!
Even though the MEW votes are non-binding for the core team, you may appreciate that so far, votes are unanimously against changing the emission curve.
The total number of voices in MEW is presently 7627
A total of 4070 voices have already been given to option 1 - no change. This is 53% of possible voices, so even in the highly unlikely case that all remaining voices went to option #2, option #1 would stll be selected because it already have absolute majority. The vote is still ongoing, since I wrote that it closes on the 31st of December, but this is mostly symbolic.

So, this is official: MEW asks for the emission curve not to be changed.

And since the core team already thinks the same way, I can safely announce that:

Monero emission curve will not change.

Uncertainty is gone!

Yay! Good news!

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Out of no where my wallet.bin stopped working with this error:
Error: failed to load wallet: failed to read file "wallet.bin"

I have all the files including the keys file, how can I rebuild my wallet.bin without losing my balance?

Backup all the files first, then move everything except the keys file to a different directory. Restart the wallet with just the keys file and it will rescan the blockchain and create a new bin file (which will take some time)

Second alpha release of lightWallet is available. I started a thread for it for future updates, can be found here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=903579.new#new

I've got the tx history tab working now, and the other major change is that file paths and names are limited to basic ascii, so it probably won't work for cyrillic or chinese or other locale users (I'm going to try and get this working for next release). Other minor change is now you can switch the orientation of the tabs by clicking a button.

Two blocks found by two different miners at about the same time. One gets to stay on the main chain, the other is considered an alt chain (sometimes called orphan but that is not technically correct) and abandoned.

That was simple.

To explain a bit, the keys file has everything important about your wallet (private keys and therefore address). It is encrypted with your wallet password, so if you lose or forget your password, this recovery method won't work.

The bin file is just a cache of some of the data from the blockchain, and it can always be recreated at the cost of some processing. There are unfortunately still some edge cases where the bin file gets corrupted, but as you found out recovering is easy.

Let's be realistic about it. The Monday schedule has been the exception rather than the rule. Consider the "Monday Monero Missives" to be a bit of alliterary license from here on out.

Missives will be released when we have something ready to report, often weekly, but not always.
