can you be a bit mindful bitcoinporn? not all can afford to hold long term

Never invest what you can't afford to lose.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 23, 2014, 04:09:37 AM
Ohhhhhhhhh perfect its this post again. Long term holders bashing "day traders" for wanting to see some profits. Really man? You're not the slightest bit interested in making real USD from this? I continue to *palmface* when I see people play the "long term investment" card. You know what we call those people in the trading world... yeah bagholders.

Now I'm bagholding VRC myself at the moment so it's not like I'm against the success of VRC but come on dude.. seeing BitcoinDark go from .0005 to .0028 in almost 24 hours doesn't make you get a little wet? If VRC just took OFF tomorrow and you woke up to see it trading at .0025 you wouldn't sell any of it?

Edit added: and please don't think because I want to make a profit doesn't mean I also don't want to see the success of this coin and the dev team. I really do believe in the coin/project, what the dev team is doing and getting the word out about ALL crypto currencies to the masses. I will always hold some VRC for this exact reason but still man... think of the money!

I use all the coins I am into. Well except Litecoin, I was in since day 0 basically and made many car payments and took care of some bills by getting rid of some of that.  But my Bitcoin and Dogecoin and Vericoin I have used.  I am not a supporter of digital currencies to trade it back out to cash.  I'm no bagholder, I'm a digital currency user like a mother fucker Smiley

(Of course I'd love to see VRC go up in price, and I very much expect it to, but not as a day trader)
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 23, 2014, 03:23:09 AM
Now it's as low as I've seen it, 25k, I've lost a considerable percentage of my investment, I'm about ready to just cash out and go back to day trading other currencies.. I won't though, I'll stick it out a bit longer at least!

Please get rid of it if you are just here for profits and day trading :\  Or if a little dip will "scare" people away, I hope that dip happens then.

Long term holders and users for a serious coin like this please, there is so many other alt coins you can day trade away and make some serious good cash on, I don't see VRC as one of those.    Might I recommend Dogecoin, it is at a super low price right now, and while maybe it won't jump in the next day or so, the rate it is at with as an active community as it has, it will jump again (I mean, you even have recently the people at Litecoin attempting multiple times to get Dogecoin to merge mine with them http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/2b3x7m/extending_the_hand_of_friendshiponce_again/ ).   Doge ain't going away, there is very little room down to go, so I just see lots of profits there if you are looking for *somewhat* quick cash.

Then there is also Voot the kids like to talk about.

Either way, Vericoin for long term, if you use the term "investment".. then invest in the coin, participate in it's growth in some way, etc.

Very curious about this -  Will the Android Wallet ever be available where one doesn't need a user name / password to use?
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 22, 2014, 07:07:30 PM
Have you guys looked into the gyft api yet? I was researching integration for another coin and gyft's support recommended taking a look at it. Could be huge having gyft card integration with the wallet.  Smiley http://developer.gyft.com/

Go with eGifter.  With BTC they have matched the 3% bonus points that Gyft offers, and do an additional 3% on the current purchase.   Gyft is a much prettier app with a slick UI, but eGifter is giving better offers.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 22, 2014, 07:06:08 PM

That "Forum" button really needs to be changed to the url goes to http://veritalk.info and not this Bitcointalk thread.  imo.

Can't wait for integration with Coinbase, if that does come.    As the requirements for Moolah seem to include the need to see a utility bill I believe :/   I have bank statements and other "proofs" of who I am or whatever.    Optimal would be the ability to buy using just name and credit card like any web site allows you to do to/buy things... but I understand that is probably a can of worms no one wants to open that leads to a shitload of stolen cc's being used or something.     So yeah, can't wait for Coinbase link, until then, I guess I am still in VRC only through Coinbase > BTC > Exchanges > VRC

Will the Android Wallet ever be available where one doesn't need a user name / password to use?

I'm not even a person who cares about every single thing/feature *has* to be decentralized or anonymous or etc, however there are some instances I believe it better to just have options if I want to use the wallet without having any username attached

Booked a hotel using Veribit Smiley

Rather than go through Expedia, got a "Global Hotel Card" used eGifter (this is also available on Gyft).  eGifter right now is offering 3% off the purchase of the gift card when using Veribit, and 3% additional points toward next purchase Smiley

Quick and speedy, everything went through smooth.
nice i will deff look into that now i have never heard of that place does it work for hotels in the usa?

https://globalhotelcard.com/ is powered by Orbitz, works just like Expedia, Hotwire, etc.

eGifter and Gyft are both gift card dealers that have awesome Android and iPhone apps.  I used Gyft a lot more, I love the app, for little things like Steak n Shake, Burger King, etc.   Both sites/apps offer a lot of categories and a lot of places.  Recently though I have made the switch to eGfiter, as you can't beat 3% off AND 3% your next purchase (6% total basically) when you use Bitcoin.    Thus using Vericoin with Veribit, things are a win win win.   I highly suggest getting both apps, Gyft is much prettier and organized imo, but eGifter has a better deal right now, and also accepts Litecoin and Dogecoin.

IMHO the VRC team is missing out on a huge opportunity not adding any useful content to this thread. I understand they have their IRC channel and all that but they need to realize there is a massive community of crypto supporters that won't take the time to sit at the IRC screen all day and only use things like ANN pages to get their info.

Just my opinion - I'm sure someone will start bashing me for it now.

No bashing, just in disagreement. I can't imagine it being mostly just day traders who use bitcointalk ANN threads as sources of information.   Go to http://veritalk.info or http://reddit.com/r/vericoin or http://twitter.com/vericoin for updated info from the devs, they appear in all these places daily.

It would be best for the devs to let this thread go away imho lol.

Hi, I'm new here and looking to invest. I'd like to know whats happening over the weekend with VRC? Is there anything that is getting released? Thanks.

Why do you post the same thing day after day.. etc etc

I have only posted here twice within the last 1-2 hours and saldy only you have replied. Well, thanks I guess, If anyone else has any further information to share about what's happening with VRC over the weekend that would be great.

I think someone already got to a reply for you, but on top of what they wrote, buying Vericoin with USD is now open @ https://trade.moolah.io/market/usd/vrc

How is this possible? I gave effects a "+1 on the underline ahahah... " for his comment and the moderator in all of this deletes MY comment?? Among the fud and massive spam of Bobsurplus the moderator deletes my comment?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

I would like an explanation but I'm sure it will not came, so that's why I've posted the printscreen of private message from the moderator.

I believe quoting a bunch of text and only adding "+1" or other such comments that don't really add anything more to what was said is considered a type of spam/waste post.   I have no doubt the FUD spreaders are reporting posts like those (as I know I report the posts of theirs where they essentially repeat the same information/posts over and over)

yeah.. i think too much pages are wasted for nonsense.. i would rather have a moderated forum ~ keep it a bit more professional

See my sig, this is in no way I what I would call a part of the Vericoin community or a good place for Vericoin discussion.  The devs are more active in other places along with more user talk (I would argue Twitter is the best place for Vericoin talk and interaction).  This thread is just for BTCtalk users imo.

Note: after writing this I realized the gay sex part was your photoshop, I found it amusing, I really have no clue what Jim Carrey movie it comes from (if that is him at all).  I have a sick sense of humor, again, aspies thing did not offend me at all.   A lot of time but the coin wars crap I'm very over is all and your posts seemed mostly to be stemming from that.   Anyfuck, blah blah blah, go Vericoin!

Gay sex part was not his photoshop.  It is an actual screenshot from film I Love You Philip Morris (2009) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1045772/
Actors are Jim Carrey (background) and Ewan McGregor (foreground)
The coin "tattoos" were edited parts.

"As Ewan [McGregor] said, 'When you're kissing another guy it can get a little prickly.' Actually, you had to put out of your mind your own sexual preference and just try to understand that you were loving another person who just happens to be a guy.” – Jim Carrey on his sex scenes with Ewan McGregor in “I Love You Phillip Morris”

Oh wow, I thought dude in front was Christian Bale.  Looking into that movie now.  Thanks for the information

Hi, quick question, in the first post I seen :

XXX_Coindev (6 developer control this)
SushiChef
Lovethecoins
techsolution
najzenmajsen

Are all the devs remaining anonymous/not real info given, for this coin?

Had a friend tell me to check this coin out today, so.. checking it out.  My only question so far.  Oh actually, also curious is there is a faucet available at this time?

Thanks in advance for any help.

So I seriously think he has Aspergers, which is starting to look common in the crypto world.

Yes, he has "Porn" in his username with an animation of a guy humping a barcode in his avatar. And I called Smoothie an "aspie" for constantly bringing up Bernanke to attack vrc, that might be offensive to people who have Aspergers, but for BitcoinPorn, he writes "I do find the humor in".  ??  So is it the gay sex then? Although there's no nudity. I personally feel that btctalk.org has some youthful energy, I honestly thought that it was okay to post it. But some people are just not happy. BitcoinPorn really put me on ignore.  Cheesy

well you can please the whole world not even a 10th of it so dont loose sleep over it lol

To codehunter: I don't want to say I wish I had aspergers, but it'd be a good excuse on some of my social issues I have in life (online or irl I suppose).   I missed the gay sex part of this post or previous posts.  Yeah, I put you on ignore, but it was more because of the constant pushing of negativity that I just was tired on (I really did look through all your posts before making the decision).  It's no big whoop, just the btctalk board here, I prefer to keep my reading experiences how I do.   I can't take back my theory of your age being a part of how or why you post, but it doesn't matter, let it slide man Smiley   But yeah, still on ignore. .. which unfortunately doesn't prevent me seeing when people quote you though dammit!

As harsh as it sounds...mintpal should go out of business and users who got coins lost due to the hack should suffer the loss or at least attempt to get what they can recover from mint pal without the Ben Bernanke move the VRC developers made.

This is not what has happened but it has set a precedent for the future.

The devs themselves said this will not happen again, and if should the coin fail/die because of this same type of situation happen, then so be it (see their developers hangout video, they address your concerns/thoughts of this being a trend they are starting).   The situation they were in had not happened to any coin previously, now that it has happened, all Proof of Stake coins as well as their relationships with exchanges *should* change, if not, we could definitely see any PoS coin, including Vericoin, fail.

I noticed in the 'news' today Ghash has put a cap/limit on what hashing power they will have (see http://www.coindesk.com/ghash-commits-40-hashrate-cap-bitcoin-mining-summit/ ), exchanges should do the same for Proof of Stake coins, only allow so much supply of any given coin to their exchange.

I like this solution. Its a hint to what the dev's where saying last night to in the hangout.

Good to see ghash.io taking proper steps to secure bitcoin. They fully understand they could be a target and compromised at some point. This was a wakeup call to all of crypto. Everyone is lucky it was done with ethics on the vericoin end, and not some shady anon dev who tried to set the precedent. They set the bar high for sure.

I think it was sort of mentioned in the last google hangout, but each exchange should have a listing of what percentage of coins they are holding for PoS based coins.   Whether or not they choose to put a cap/limit on what percentage they will hold in their exchange, it should be a more public/easily readable number that is listed on their site so at least the users can at the least make the decision if they want to use that exchange or not.    A cap/limit would be the optimal solution.  And you figure the exchanges would want to be down with this idea so they don't make themselves a target.

Honestly I cannot understand why people keep answering scum like Bobsurplus, or trying to reason with people like smoothie and their army of alts.

After ignoring them for more than a week this thread has become so much better

It's been less than a week for me and it makes a world of difference browsing the thread.   Though smoothie I have to vouch just has his opinions on how he sees things, while overall he obviously wants Vericoin to fail and basically has said as much, he doesn't do it with shit posts with no content or large meme images.   It's sometimes good to hear other opinions on things imo.

My current ignore list:
SkyValeey
Bobsurplus
keshuker
mrkavasaki

Is anyone tech savy enough to help me out a bit if I need some help changing a bitcoin faucet to a vericoin faucet tomorrow?

Not sure exactly how this works, but I want to put up a faucet and load it this weekend if its not going to be a big issue. I know have seen tools to make them for bitcoin. Perhaps its just a small conversion over to VRC, if anyone can help me out, I am going to sleep tonight and then get started on the project in the morning. A lot of people are hearing about VRC for the first time and I want to help them want to stay around!

Perhaps the person running ' http://vrcfaucet.visitbit.com/ ' will help you out, I'm sure they don't care to be the only faucet for Vericoin (or maybe they do, I know web sites can get competitive sometimes, however I figure both of you have a common positive goal, but who knows)
