81  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria’s central bank forced to deny claims of crypto account freeze on: April 24, 2024, 02:40:33 PM
Who heard about this? Nobody brought it up on the forum. I am referring to the rumour that that the CBN directed all banks and financial institutions to identify individuals or entities engaging in transactions with cryptocurrency exchanges and to ensure that such accounts are put on Post No Debit (PND) instruction for six months. PND which means that the account owner will not be able to make transaction on the account for six month according to what I read on Cointelegraph.

This is the fake circular:

It was not even signed. But people were believing it?

It was on the news that CBN first denied it on X but later deleted the denial. But some hours later the CBN claimed that the allegation is not false.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/nigerian-central-bank-freeze-user-accounts

We do not have this on Nigeria local board and I believe no one among us will believe in the false circular.

We cannot question the government because they in power, even when its all glaring to the eye that what they are saying is not part of it, i think the ban you're talking of was what transpired before the present administration, which was the law made by the former president not to allow banks on such engagement, but now, the current administration will refute the claim since it was not coming from them, even though they met the implementation on ground, then who are we to sue the government when they make a claim or dispute it as well, they are the leaders and in charge, CBN is just a wing of the government and we cannot predict on what may transpired between them and the government on this same matter.

83  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: April 23, 2024, 07:03:33 PM
There are limited direct health benefits associated with online gambling.

We may not have a direct impact to the benefits of what we receives from the influence of only gambling, because some are inherent while some are depository, we need to gamble for the benefits of what we want to have while having fun, this alone is part of what contributes to how excited we are each time we are going to gamble, just as some will say that gambling makes them feel relaxed of the contracted facial muscles after a hectic day.
84  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making decisions while betting on: April 23, 2024, 05:27:02 PM
First of all, I am saying that gambling is for entertainment. Those who take gambling as entertainment can make good decisions in gambling and those who use gambling as a means of earning money cannot control themselves in gambling.

Once a gambler has a misconception from the first place then he has completely lost the idea about gambling and how he is been expected to go about it, you cannot compare someone who is coming to gamble only for the sake of having fun to someone who is desperately in need of money and thinks he could actually earn from gambling, they both have different ideology and will have have same expectations with gambling.
85  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How possible can a forum memeber visiting foreign local board here? on: April 23, 2024, 04:25:26 PM
Is there any penalty resultant of a bitcointalk forum memeber to double Cross in accessing and also contributing to foreigners local board discussions?

Only a promiscuous person will engaged doing that, you're free to go there merits, read and contribute there as long as you understand their language, but not that when you're an American claiming you're African, that is uncalled for, we are free to contribute at any board as long as we have something to offer, from Nigerian local board, we do receive some non Nigerians meriting posts and some contributing as well in the normal English language they understand apart from the local pidgin which they may not understand, all that is needed is for someone to be plain and truthful to himself.

86  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Kenyan police arrest Binance executive who escaped from Nigeria on: April 23, 2024, 03:45:58 PM
Kenyan police arrest Binance executive who escaped from Nigeria

Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla has been arrested in Kenya and there is possibility that he will be extradited to Nigeria.

One of the sources said, “Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service, and he would be extradited to Nigeria this week by INTERPOL.”

Another source noted, “As we had said before that Anjarwalla would be extradited, he has been arrested in Kenya, and he’ll be extradited to Nigeria this week.”

First thing, the Nigerian government are not being professional at all by any means, because i see no reason why they will have this same business executive escaped through the boarder down to Kenya without any clew when we have all the securities available, yet he escaped from Nigeria down to Kenya before he was later been apprehended by the Authorities in Kenya, this gives me thoughts if we are actually safe and being secured at all or we are been deceived instead by the security operatives and government, if something like this could actually happened.
87  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the Reluctance? on: April 22, 2024, 08:00:04 PM
Sports betting is not illegal in my country. According to some key gambling and betting statistics1,2:
  • There are over 60 million active gamblers.
  • $2 billion is spent on gambling everyday
  • 53% of people in my country bet at least once per day. Our population is around 200 million people.
  • There are 14 million bet stakes and payments that are made over the internet every day
  • and others
We are actually a gambling nation and the market is highly profitable. I wonder why despite these statistics, yet some sport betting and casino sites haven't taken advantage of it. As I conducted my research, I noticed that some casinos don't offer or no longer offers their services to people in my country. There are other countries with similar situation too. And it begs the question: why the reluctance? Such hesitation seems out of place in a country where gambling is legal.

2 https://www.noi-polls.com/post/gambling-and-betting-poll-2019

Maybe you should also consider the statistic of the numbers of the newly introduced gambling platforms on a daily basis, the numbers of active gamblers to that of the inactive each day if there is increase on both or decrease, we should henceforth know that we cannot continue to have the same kind of gambling experience over time with the same statistical data, things changes and varies over time, operating a casino demands money to fund the establishment for one, how many are experienced and willing to afford starting one.
88  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t play gambling with drugs or in half sleep on: April 22, 2024, 07:26:44 PM
We should take note of the following precautions of things we do and how it will then affect us on our daily life, this may not applies to gambling alone, but other vital and important aspects of our lives, we should be care not to be under influence in whatever thing we do.

1. don't not gambling under an influence.
2. don't gamble if you're feeling sleepy.
3. don't gamble if you don't have money, lending is not a good idea.

if we can moderate the way we do things, we cannot have the other way experience like the way others do when they are gambling irresponsibly.
89  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is merit all about? on: April 22, 2024, 04:43:42 PM
but one of the major problem I'm having now is that I'm not well clarify of what merit entails

Those that introduced you to the forum never took their time in telling you the use of merit, maybe if you had also taken your time in going through the forum, you might have seen something that talks about merit, however, if you're a quality poster, then you should be able to understand the meaning and use of merit, forget about the merit system and work on yourself as how you will be able to make quality posts, then you will understand more better.
90  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Why most Nigerian struggle financially in January on: April 22, 2024, 02:53:19 PM
Lack of adequate planning for the new year is one of the elements that affect many people, this is not about being a Nigerian or not, if you fail to plan then you will plan to fail, we also need to take responsibility for ourselves on what to do, no one will ever act on the best interest for our own good than what we have done for ourself, but when we give less, we should also not stand in the position of receiving more than we have given.
91  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: April 20, 2024, 01:50:22 AM
Gambling in front of the kids is not a good idea, i wont advise for such, if you're going to gamble, then know it that it will be your own decision alone and influencing the children about it will make no any sense at all, moreover, children are not to start gambling at their tender age except they have been independent and no more called children, some of the things we do, they see, and instead of us to set a model for them to follow, they may only see the other asper in us which is a wring impression.
92  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: THERE ARE TWO THINGS INVOLVED on: April 20, 2024, 01:13:27 AM
As OP have already suggested, let me add to what he has talked about with the two things being involved with gambling, if you're being tempted to go for more in gambling and loose, you will be disappointed that you shouldn't have made that decision for doing more, but if it happens that you go against your own wish to gambler more and left, you may not forgive yourself because you're not being satisfies to the level of being contempt with the way you have gamble.
93  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Useful information for Nigerian newbies on: April 20, 2024, 12:39:41 AM
Maybe i should suggest that this thread be pinned here on the local board, so that it can serve as a first approach learning material for the newbies who are just joining the forum and local board, this may help prevent them from making a low quality post or trolling the forum by posting what is not welcome to carry useful information's, at first approach, some of these newbies need to learn from resourceful materials.
94  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Do you not think those land borders should be opened again on: April 20, 2024, 12:12:15 AM
Land boarders should be opened again because the losses we are suffering is fart higher than the safety they are protecting, what is the work of the immigrations, customs and other boarder and land controlling agencies that they will not discharge their duties to the fullest, whereby they ensure that no any contraband escape the route of operation at the boarder, if this is not possible then, such could mean that they are being left for not doing their roles and nothing is being done to that, they should open the boarder and let the food items and other imported commodities price come down.
95  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online casino gambling is more of profit chasers while land base is more of fun on: April 19, 2024, 05:51:41 AM
I think its time that we need to be more specific here because this will only have to deal about the gambler and not the gambling platform, if a gamblers knows what he is doing, irrespective of the platform he is using to gamble, he will make winning except for the fact that the game in consideration is by luck, the physical or online gambling platforms doesn't make any difference, we are the ones that make decisions in writing the way we want the story of how our gambling experience should go.
96  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investing in a casino's bankroll...Still worth it in 2024? on: April 19, 2024, 05:20:52 AM
I remember the days when online crypto gambling sites offered us the option to invest directly into their bankroll (like the one in my sig). Nowadays, it's hard to find one that does. The only I've found is Bitvest. But activity on the site is quite low compared to its rivals.

I was wondering if it's still worth investing in an online casino's bankroll? If it is, could you share where can I invest my BTC? Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

I don't think something like this actually exist as before, because now the gamblers who may be willing on making an investment into the gambling platform would also be interested in gambling, so what he would rather choose was to make a deposit and use the fund to the satisfaction of his desire with gambling, because he also want to gamble and have fun, especially now that we have online crypto gambling casinos everywhere to use, and if at all he wishes to invest as well, he would rather choose a cryptocurrency coin and invest by himself then hold.

Ever felt the grievance of overnight success?
Multiple ventures didn't guarantee fast or overnight results for some if not most people.....

Except we also want to deceive ourself, we should know that there is no shortcut in life, everything has due process, but men are too desperate in other to make it in life and therefore got themself into some certain mess they will definitely regret about in life, when planning for something, we should first consider the risk involved before doing such, even the successful ones has their own story to tell on what they have been through and how they scale through to the extent of where and what they have achieved.
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: buying bitcoin with a creditcard on: April 18, 2024, 11:16:17 PM
So I was thinking like in the old days I could purchase btc internationally via creditcard

If there is p2p then i see no reason why i should leave the decentralized means away and go for acquiring my bitcoin in a centralized way, the central institutions have your credit card information with then and any transaction performed with such will be account for, this was an olden days era, now we are in the new generation of set of people, who understand the way of how things are being done.
99  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Claw Machines: a category of gambling? on: April 18, 2024, 11:38:02 AM
It is not considered to be gambling because the element of fairness is absent due to the owner of the machine being able to adjust its sensitivity any time they wish. Customers have no way of knowing beforehand that it is rigged against them, you just have to assume that it might be. There is no way to come up with odds of actually getting a prize, but the odds can be zero in some cases.

For games of luck, participants are betting with variables that they are familiar with. With these rigged games, however, you are going in entirely blind, not knowing whether you are flushing money away.

Its actually a game of luck, we cannot completely take that for gambling because it has many things that point at the way its been played not to be like that of gambling games, as you have pointed out, it is just for the people to all try their best and make use of the opportunity to se if they can win any physical material, money or items from them by playing or trying their luck.
100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: THERE ARE TWO THINGS INVOLVED on: April 18, 2024, 10:57:01 AM
It is well known that in life, irrespective of what decision is being taken, we either made the right one or the wrong, but we can make control of our self to ensure that the way we are gambling is not without control, this will begin from how we are able to gamble moderately, avoid been greedy and how we also make effective use of our time on quality things that worth it while gambling and when doing other things.
