281  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] JJG Sustainable Bitcoin Withdrawal Strategy on: February 14, 2024, 02:06:44 PM
In which I cannot remember if we might want to add other currencies to this tool.. do you think that there might be some value in that?  I am sure some folks might appreciate looking at their own currency rather than USD (even though surely USD remains the dominant shitty fiat out of all of the various shitty fiats).
We will definitely appreciate this when we are being able to view our local currencies to their amount worth in USD.

From my own localized currency in fiat also, we prefer the use of USD just because its a measure of identifying the value of a currency growth over time while its dominance has nothing to do with any financial improvement upon any investment made in it, so i would rather prefer the use of bitcoin over any other form of currencies while USD is just an estimate to the value of my holdings.

Of course, bitmover and I are referring to having a unit converter within this particular tool so that all of the fiat (currently dollar value) references would be for the selected local currency, because if you merely want a contemporary conversion of your currency, you could just look at bitmover's currency converter - and maybe in that regard, as an interim solution, maybe we just want to start by adding such unit conversion link in the thread (even though there is already a unit converter link at the top of the thread).

I've gone through the link provided and I see it's something worth recommending for use, I will try in my own capacity as well to make this available for as many as possible from my locale to use this conversion and a big thanks and a welcome job to bitmober for bringing such idea, the site is well ok for easy use.

As to your other point regarding how much value to hold in your local currency, versus the dollar versus bitcoin, I think that it is becoming more and more widely known that there are so many folks who do hold/reference dollars rather than their local currency, even if they might not hold dollars, but then they also have a lot of preferences of holding dollars because historically it has had a tendency to appreciate (or at least hold its value better) against the local currencies.. and not as many folks realize that bitcoin is even better than the dollar because bitcoin's short-term volatility frequently clouds thinking, including that it does not even take that much of a zoom out before anyone should be able to see the magnitude of such bitcoin value holding... so yeah, then it comes down to how much of your local cash and/or dollars do you need to hold and then the rest should probably go into bitcoin.. for holding 4-10 years or longer.... which can seem like an eternity for so many folks to think in terms of holding some kind of asset/currency for 4-10 years or longer in order to have decent chances of increasing the quantity and quality of options that they have in their life a wee bit down the road.

Recently, it has been trending on the internet whereby you see many people and experts giving some sort of financial advice on the way people save their earnings, they largely got recommendations for the use of dollar against the local currency considering the fall in the local currency value in respect to dollar, but it's more important that they will also have to realized this that they could get more better with bitcoin even than what the fiat could get them, I appreciate this efforts altogether in giving people more enlightenment towards using a sustainable means of withdrawal and currency conversion with bitcoin.
282  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hey! it's $50k today. on: February 13, 2024, 06:30:48 PM
Hey Stop! 🛑

Look around, it is $50,000

Can you now see the effect of the ETF approval?

What do you think...
  • An upwards trend from $50k
  • An downwards movement from here

Bitcoin has just been amazing this days with its recent market performance, attaining the $50,000 is what we never expected to come this fast, the market has been more volatile and then for the benefits of those that hodl, they are going to make the very nice beginning to the entry to their own season of bullrun after the halving, so i will rather say that this is just a little taste of the bite on how the bullrun is going to look like when we are all into it fully, so if you're not holding, i don't know what you're still waiting for.
283  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin will conquer fiat the same way fiat conquered trade by barter. on: February 13, 2024, 04:53:09 PM
From the recent happening across the globe, it's going to be that The same way people left the bartter system to the fiat currency because of the advantage of fiat over the barter system is the same way they will also leave the fiat to Bitcoin because of the advantage Bitcoin has over fiat.

With time, bitcoin is going to be the mainstream for making payment, but not by continuous struggle or fight against fiat to achieve that, bitcoin is going to be a currency that is entirely different from each other form of currencies, it does not have to contend with the other currencies that exist before it, but this is what the people want to see come through in their lives with the adoption of a new and alternative means of currencies, It may be later that we may see the more adoption with bitcoin and they may both exist together with fiat till the people decided on what they will use as their mainstream when the time comes.
284  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make we dey check minimum deposit for exchange before sending crypto. on: February 13, 2024, 02:36:56 PM
This thread is being helpful in two ways to the newbies.

1. It will help understand the minimum required amount one can send through an exchange, when we read about the exchange terms and conditions, we could get more information concerning that.

2, This will also help in knowing what dust transaction is, and the minimum amount one can use to engage the use of the p2p network which most of the exchanges set as 10 usd.

All the information's provided above doesn't make the use of a centralized exchange go with high priority, if you're using them then you're at your own risk, no information with them including your asset id safe completely.
285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Factors to consider before joining paid signature campaigns. on: February 13, 2024, 01:14:23 PM
All what you have listed is actually true. Especially knowing the reputation of the campaign you are advertising here because it could lead to receiving red trust. Because you are speaking good of a campaign that is not as good as you call it.

It is important that you know this, joining any campaign is at your own risk for them to pay you or not, and you will receive a tag because you're contributing to the promotion of a fictious site, though the forum doesn't moderate scam, but the tag members will leave on you will help any future dealings you may engage into with other members have a clue about your past deals and promotions.

Another point I also love is to check the the maximum post per week before joining the campaign otherwise you might end up joining a campaign that will make you post out of point do to completing of post count. And also lastly to making sure we know what we are about to promote. Because according to the image of the user above, shows that the owner of that account is not promoting gambling rather talking out of point because he doesn't like gambling but was just fortunate to work with a gambling campaign.

Its very important to read the rules and regulation under the campaign OP thread on the first page, many will first jump into applying before taking time to read what is in their campaign rules which is wrong.
286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 12, 2024, 08:53:14 PM
Ivory Coast have made an incredible comeback. They did that throughout the whole tournament. That's why Nigeria were my favorites for the final match. Because I thought they couldn't do it again, but Ivory Coast did it again. It has been a memorable tournament for them. I liked Sebastian Haller's goal. He touched the ball with the sole of his foot. That goal reminded me of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He used to make aesthetic one-timers on hard control passes like that. If Sebastian Haller had tried to control the ball in that position he would never have scored.

By the virtue of their respective performances in the just concluded AFCON 3024, no one will ever believed that Nigeria could have achieved this far with the kind of pattern they have adopted in playing the match, this last final with Ivory Coast is a real battle that we just can't expect that Ivory Coast shouldn't win by the way of their performance in that match, in every points they have defeated Nigeria since the beginning of the match to the end, the one goal Ekong gave us was by luck and chance while the ones they score us was by their proficiencies.
287  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Browser app with a crypto wallet. on: February 12, 2024, 04:28:16 PM
I was making use of CHROME app while posting on Bitcointalk (BCT, BTT)

Its more preferably that you call it BTT or btt as the use case may be, this is the shorted abbreviation whereby we can use to refer to the forum bitcointalk.org

but I was having some difficulty then I installed BRAVE browser app and I saw this, so I checked it was just a browsers crypto wallet. I checked and this was what I saw

I've seen some people using a centralized exchange and they were introduced to another kind of wallet by that same exchange that is decentralized, they will say all manner of English to make the propaganda for their agenda on making people believe that such wallet is decentralized of which is not, as for the use of brave browser, i like it so much but wouldn't recommend anyone for using their wallet because if its a non custodial wallet, then there's high probability of being a close source, when you can easily make use of other wallet types that are non custodial and close source.
288  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know more about Wallet address poisoning on: February 12, 2024, 01:56:55 PM
1. How are scammers poisoning a wallet address?

They will do that by sending into your wallet address a little amount of money, the wallet address they will use in sending to you will be similar to the one that you often send transaction to, so that they can make a mistake by picking their own address instead of yours that was intended for and make payment into their own wallet address instead of your own, it is sometimes not good and safe, leaving your wallet address open to the public.

2. Is it true that scammers only need to send a fake transaction or fake NFT to your wallet address to get it poisoned?

Its a real transaction and not fake, they only send to you so very little amount closer to dust.

3. What are the capability of a poisoned wallet address in favour to the hacker?

they can just steal your coins by a single mistake of taking their address for yours and that's all, your money is gone for life.

4. Can address poisoning affect Bitcoin wallet too, like Electrum?

As long as they have your wallet address, they can send you the transaction and target you.

291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 10, 2024, 08:13:40 PM
As everyone has said, there are no differences between these two words, when we say that a person is addicted to gambling, we can also say that this person has problem gambling or we can also say that this person has compulsive gambling.

The two words may sounds been similar but still have a lot of difference from each other, but when a gambler is turning to be a combination of the two, being a problem and compulsive type of a gambler, then the whole case is beyond control and left on him to know how to fix it up by a suitable approach, i will advise that none of the two is good for a gambler to have, this is a display of nothing than been an irresponsible gambler when a gambler is engulfed with the two on a critical note.
292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is addiction bad only when it is a problem? on: February 10, 2024, 06:50:22 PM
There have never been a time once where addiction in gambling has never been a problem, the word itself is a problem and talked a lot about the meaning, so tell me, how can addicted gambler do without having a problem, this may really affect his career, family, relationship or even his way of life in general, having addiction is not is good and its never an easy task to also finds a means of dealing with it appropriately without the gambler being affected in any way, so its more better and honorably not to start it ever than when having it as a gambler.
293  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor people need solution now on: February 10, 2024, 03:33:38 PM
And who should be the solution giver on the poor when everyone is quite busy on his own, we should begin to start with the eradication of the mentality of being dependent on other people or the government for our success, we have to take the responsibility for ourselves and start to tryout new things, we should work on our personal self, create time to discover more about ourselves, build a career profile or learn any valuable skill or trade to help us have something to offer that could get us earnings.
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: February 10, 2024, 01:22:38 PM
The main goal of the country of El Salvador is to use their natural resources to produce volcanic energy and by using this energy they are able to advance their country. Bitcoin Diversified Geographical Distribution as part of El Salvador's unwavering commitment to promote competitive power and establish a global standard for Bitcoin. El Salvador is currently enjoying great success in producing this volcanic energy, and will provide access to this volcanic energy for every citizen in the country. A lot of natural resources are used to generate volcanic energy and many people have created their jobs in it.

There's opportunity in making discovery, this will help towards achieving the remarkable success at its best in whatever we do, the use of the volcanic energy to help increase the efficiency of the bitcoin energy demand for mining purpose will always make its own contributions in seeing that bitcoin is never limited to using only a single entity for it energy dependencies and am sure this is part of the reasons that have led to the development of this renewable energy source on bitcoin mining.
295  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 09, 2024, 08:41:48 PM
Some persons says gambling is not an investment due to its risky levels but a game of entertainment while some persons says investments are likely to be gambling because you don't foresee the future and can't predict the later outcome.

Don't let people brainwashed you, gambling is not an investment, when you're investing, then you don't risk the chance of loosing the entire capital on your investment, you may only experience a partial loss which is obvious not to claim your whole money, but when you're gambling, then you're taking a risk and stand a chance of loosing or winning, gambling should be seen as a means of an entertainment and nothing more, there's no assurance in making money while gambling unlike with investment, the only thing they share in common is the risk being involved in both.
296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: February 09, 2024, 08:10:39 PM
quitting gambling is beyond what we can just say with an ordinary mouth, it has to be what we are going to make it work out because it not easy to change whom we are by that time because we are already been used to gambling, then there comes in an approach for us to use in ensuring that we overcome the task ahead, while i don't see quitting also as the final solution than having the opportunity of going through a rehabilitation process in dealing with addiction and how we gambling to help us gamble more responsibly instead of us quitting it, one may be frustrated at the cause, because he was been pushed to act as against his wish.
297  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Emails requesting Bitcoin. on: February 09, 2024, 01:15:24 PM
Thanks for this vital information on scam, we need to pay in more attention to the things we engage doing while online, the sites we visits and even what we download, scammers are lurking around the internet to take advantage of these things and use them against us, we should limit or stop the exposure we give to ourselves on the social media, revealing our identify, email, login credentials and so on, once they have a single entry like this, it leads to opening of other doors for them to use in attacking us when we lest expect.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought FBTC in my 401k. First time ever holding crypto for retirement. on: February 09, 2024, 12:09:28 PM
I have a feeling that the wide availability of Bitcoin ETFs will herald one of the longest and most stable bull markets for Bitcoin that we have seen to date. I've always invested in BTC using a private wallet but with Fidelity's offering I feel fairly safe and confident putting a portion of my 401k into it. I had to check a few boxes that I accept the risk but other than that Fidelity authorized the transaction.

Why the ETF when you are having bitcoin to invest, you stand to loose one great opportunity which is what locks you under centralization while dealing with a centralized organization like Fidelity, don't you think you're signing in to their terms and condition could impose a future danger in you later in future, but with bitcoin, there's no need of going through all these because you're investing on a decentralized digital network with bitcoin.
299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 08, 2024, 08:54:52 PM
Maybe we should just know people for whom they were, we cant expect everyone being the same as we are in life or through the way they are gambling to be the same as ours, its a barbaric experience to see that someone goes to that length in selling off properties just to satisfy their gambling desires, and the next thing that comes straight on my mind was that, what will such person do after he gambles and loose the bet and the property is gone, in everything we are doing, we should always consider the two sides of the consequences that may follows every actions we take.
300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 08, 2024, 04:42:48 PM
However, there were two terms that were made mentioned of which stole my interest unfortunately they weren't explained but only mentioned. I could have just checked them on Google but I felt reluctant and said let me bring it to the community let make it a discussion among us. The two terms were Problem Gambling and Compulsive Gambling. I want to know if they are different in meaning and how different is their effect on their victims.

It all  depends on the interpretation given here in the two context, problem gambling could be any challenges or difficulties encountered as a result of being a gambler and the gambler faces each time they are into the atmosphere of gambling, this can come in any form, be it financial, emotional or even the difficulties experienced at the cause of gambling.

And moreso, there's a statement I read in the comment section which is in the quote below. I would love to have the views of slot lovers in the forum on this. How true is this statement.
Quote
All slot players are long term losers.

May he would have said this that all gamblers are long time losers because if we look into how we have been gambling over the years, we should be able to come out with either running losses from the way we gamble or huge disappointments at the cause, while this is not about the slot alone, but general way we gamble.
