If you are a gamer and have a few GPU, then it is OK to mine. But be careful if you want to build a mining farm.

Why do you need to be careful?  Just jump in.

You can make $1 to $2 a day with a D3 currently, it really depends on how much you pay for electricity.

I had satellite internet a few years ago when I first started mining back in the S1 days.  It worked fine, but it tore through the metered data plan that I had.  If you use satellite, make sure that you get enough metered data... or unlimited data if you can.

anyone have current Addnode list? I am using 2.5 version of wallet now and had only 1 connection for about 20 seconds. now just searching for connections..

found some addnodes on page 190 but not sure if they work well or are current

The best way to find a list of nodes to add is use an explorer for that coin.  Most of them have a Network or Nodes list.  For DNR use http://denarius.name/network

Then bring up the console in the GUI and do the "addnode [IPaddress] -onetry" command on about 10 of the nodes that are running the latest version, as well as near to you or in the same country as you.

That's very annoying. Have you tried running repairwallet from the console?

Nice!  That worked!

Was it during the hardfork? That could be the problem.

The transaction was on March 31st on the 1.6.0 wallet.  Is there a way to get it back?
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it posible to automaticaly switch between coins based on current difficulty? on: April 30, 2018, 05:54:51 AM
It's a risky proposition to switch based on difficulty swings.  A lot of coins use dark gravity wave for difficulty changes per block so you can get some wild swings in difficulty.  Plus, there could be a good reason why a coin is dropping difficulty... maybe a contentious fork, a total scam coin, fast-dropping profits, and lots of other scenarios.

Thanks citronick for your tip about zealot miner on PHI. Although smOS got updated with that, I just missed that. I just switched right now and will keep it under monitoring for a while. I was using ccminer 2.2.5.

Please update if Pickaxe is doing better than Yiimp on your side. I see it has much more miners, but most important is the revenue Smiley

LE: A lot better with zenemy 1.08. Before (ccminer 2.2.5) was having 155-162 Mh/s at 150W PL, now I'm having around 172-173 Mh/s. Yey!

I have been on pickaxe since 4:00 pm Est yesterday. So we can call that 17 hours. My earnings up until
Now are on par with my yiimp earnings when the pool had the payouts we expected.

I’ll report back at the 24 hour mark to make sure it is about where I expected it to Be

In theory, that's how pool mining works over the long term.  Small pools will generate fewer blocks, but you'll get a larger share of the block rewards, and over the long term it all evens out.  The only reason to go with a larger hash pool is more frequent payouts.  Using a large hash rate pool might be a good way to go if you are mining a coin that you just want some quick results from... but if you are mining a coin for a while, then you should earn the same amount even on a smaller hash rate pool.  There will be some variance due to luck, but again, over the long term it should even out.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 26, 2018, 04:22:13 AM
Yiimp is finding really hard Lux.. only 5 in the last 12 hours.. not getting as supposed. Sad

looks like similar results with zpool

Its a matter of time ocminer may setup his pool and draw the crowd.

I am still at yiimp.eu because the pool has 20GH/s of hash power -- frankly, the other pools are quite pathetic...

I think BSOD has the most hash... they were over 50% at one point.  The Lux community wants to spread the hash around and I moved to Pickaxe... quite pleased with this pool.

96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 24, 2018, 04:07:46 PM
citronick, I see you keep mine and hold zen. You think it will rise high over long time? I'm trying to plan my long-term holding, right now I'm mining and keeping raven and pigeon. Also I hope xzc will explode soon.
I think I will try LUX for some days. Thanks for sharing. Your info is useful as always Smiley

Accumulated a nice bag of ZEN from mining since last year, now -- just buying them off (cost averaging) everyday - via Prohashing. I have good feeling about ZEN ahead of ZEC in the future. So will keep that bag when its time to cash out. Zcoin/XZC is another coin that has good upside, marketcap only 200m, easily a 1b coin ...

Agreed... I've been following and mining Zencash since the beginning... all through the ZCL fork, the dev crisis, and through the formation of their outstanding professional team they have now.  I mined enough for a few securenodes and sold off quite a few to pay for other things.  I wish I hadn't done that... the Supernode (basically a masternode) could be quite profitable.  So I leave a rig of five 1070s mining it constantly.

Quote
LUX currently is very profitable. If you have 1080tis to spare, mine LUX. The PHI miner from alexis, anx and even tpruvot plain vanilla ccminer supports PHI... so you can use SMOS.

I've modestly mined a small bag of Lux over the last couple of weeks.  It's not going to stay under the radar for long.

Quote
For the X16R/S experiment, I have a handsome bag of RVN, PGM and Proton - will keep these till year end and cash out.

These three are baffling to me.  I mined enough Proton to run a masternode, but quickly discovered they compiled their wallet using old libraries from 2014, and couldn't get the masternode to run on Ubuntu 16.04... dumped that bag.  I want to like Raven and Pigeon... but I don't get why they exist other than to say that they exist.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: April 23, 2018, 02:47:00 PM
So quiet in here.. what's happening? Smiley)

What you're mining lately? I personally keep my ATI to nicehash cryptonight7 and nvidia all to raven, sometimes I'm switching towards pigeon. I've heard about Lux, but did not have time to read more about it. Whatcha think?

Only nVidia GPUs here as well... LUX and Zen.  Occasionally my Awesome Miner will switch my rigs to BZL and SnowGem in the last few days.  My couple of old ASICs are mining X13 at Nicehash to pay the electric bill.

Looking to use Bittrex Wallet For Miningpoolhub.
Anyone do this please advise.
I want to send my XMR directly to Bittrex and im not sure about Payment ID and Base Address.

Thanks

On MiningPoolHub, you set a threshold, and wallet address for you Bittrex XMR wallet in the wallet section of that pool on MPH.

Nicehash Pools And Wallet?
Should I be using my nicehash internal wallet for nicehash profit switching?
Are the fees lower this way? Or just use the same external wallet I use for all the other Yiimp/profit switching pools?

Seems i can then transfer to Coinbase free.

Please advise if i am incorrect or any feedback on this issue.

Thanks

In my opinion... yes, if you use Nicehash, you should be using their internal wallet.  You can two-factor protect the internal wallet, you get free transfers to Coinbase which can also be protected by two-factor authentication, and overall the fees are lower.

Hello Patrike,

I had a rig that for some reason can not upgrade to the 4.7.3 remote service.  It can't be uninstalled manually because it says it's not installed... though it's still running, AM can't control the rig.  I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling both services with the Remote Service Configuration tool, but that doesn't seem to do any good.  When I try to manually install the new 4.7.3 MSI it says it can't find a noteservice.msi to complete the uninstallation of the old 4.7.2 service.  I've look on my other rigs that did upgrade successfully, but this MSI is no where to be found.

Are there any manual steps to uninstallation/cleanup of the remote service from a rig so I can start fresh?
Hi,

Please check out this tool from Microsoft that can be used when a MSI-based installer isn't behaving as it should - and this can be used to force a removal:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

Hello Patrike,

That fixed it so I could install the 4.7.3 remote service.  I had to give it the option to not stop the services and reboot, as the first attempt to stop the services failed again after running that Microsoft tool.  After the successful install of the remote service, I still couldn't couldn't control the rig... ran diagnostics and it said that it couldn't find the mining software.  So I went back to the rig to reset the folders in Windows Defender... I've had to do this before.  Weird thing was that Defender wasn't running.  It wouldn't start either.  I had to go into the registry to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender key... and turn Defender back by changing DisableAntiSpyware to 0

Then I could reset the folders for Defender to ignore with AM... and now it works.

Strange circumstances, but thanks to your help it's resolved now.  Just posting this information in case other run into this situation with the Remote Service or Windows Defender.
