81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Fucking Chinese on: November 27, 2016, 04:47:43 AM
Bitcoin will be China's most precious export in the following decades. Chinese farmers will stop producing rice crops and will replace the rice fields with modern Bitcoin farms. The government will subsidize the new businesses and will own 50% of the mining operations in return. China will erect the highest Bitcoin skyscraper in the world. China will update their national flag featuring the Bitcoin logo. China will overtake the USA in colonizing Mars. China will also launch the first Space Blockchain and will use Bitcoin to trade with aliens for the first time in human history. Of course everything will be funded with Bitcoin.

The move could also give cause for concern for online poker players and sports bettors because they will no longer be able to withdraw funds directly to their prepaid Mastercard which could see their profits from online gambling come under scrutiny from the relative authorities.

This is probably going to be the biggest issue for affected bettors following the change in service. I wonder if the Neteller virtual debit card will be cancelled as well because if it's not there will still be a possible workaround this situation like people exchanging balances between different payments processors in order to avoid withdrawing the funds to their bank accounts. Perhaps now is the time to jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon and laundry the money through a Bitcoin exchange site and withdraw the cash via a Bitcoin debit card so that the government wouldn't know you have been gambling.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Run-away amount of transactions. What would that mean? on: November 25, 2016, 08:52:01 PM
Sure, mate. Keep writing 40 posts a day half of them spreading fud in the Bitcoin discussion section masked in dubious threads with pompous long-winded write-ups then tell me I need to learn to read.

Sorry to burst your little bubble.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Run-away amount of transactions. What would that mean? on: November 25, 2016, 07:17:25 PM
Off-chain transactions occur only when people move funds from one Xapo wallet to another Xapo wallet or from one Coinbase account to another Coinbase account. Everything else not contained in the same proprietary wallet eco-system needs to be broadcasted on the Blockchain like foreign outgoing and incoming TX.

My 2 satoshis.
85  Other / Meta / Re: [Unofficial] New Global Moderator Election - [Discussion] on: November 25, 2016, 06:52:58 PM
Thanks for shedding some light on how the staff payment system works around here. I would like to ask what do you mean by 'shares' of work for each mod? Does this include like the number of posts they do in a month, the number of bans they have issued, the number of reports they have processed etc.? And I have noticed some mods are super active so I gather they are getting paid more for the extra posts or? So all in all mods that are from countries with lower living standards would spend more time in here because the payments they are getting would make a bigger financial difference in their lives. Makes sense now.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the main problems bitcoiners face? on: November 25, 2016, 02:27:34 PM
Legitimate vendors don't need stability or predictability of Bitcoin because they convert their Bitcoin profits back to fiat on the spot. I don't think Steam or Overstock or any other online vendor for that matter care much about how unstable Bitcoin is right now because they exchange these digital tokens for hard cash in their bank accounts. They use Bitcoin to get more paying clients and that's all.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TV series and Bitcoin: the debunking thread on: November 25, 2016, 02:17:09 PM
Yeah I remember Gilfoyle showing his old testing rig saying that he has used it to mine Bitcoin with the GPU. I searched YouTube for that moment but couldn't find a video however I found that gif instead: https://imgur.com/HPN1U79  Wink

But as Silicon Valley is more of a comedy show than a reliable tech program I don't know if there is anything about Bitcoin to debunk there anyways.

By the way Bitcoin was mentioned again on the show and it's about Gilfoyle requesting his paychecks to be paid in cash or Bitcoin and the legality of Bitcoin:

88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is to storage private keys in the cloud? on: November 25, 2016, 01:54:19 PM
If you are not comfortable with uploading sensitive data to the cloud you could try setting up a home server. I would buy one of the little cheap server boxes and get 2 SSD's or HDD's and do a RAID 1 configuration that would allow for increased reliability in case of a disk failure. This little server box would be kept offline. And voila you have a super durable long-term storage for your private keys  Grin
89  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: November 24, 2016, 02:00:05 PM
If Manchester United don't win today at home Mourinho will be in real trouble because as things are right now United might not make it out of the group stage of the Europa League and with these expensive footballers it would be a big disgrace for the name of the club. And on top of that United are not doing very well in the PL either so it's possible that Mourinho won't get any trophy this year at all.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Online Wallet iPayYou Adds Bitcoins to Amazon Shopping on: November 24, 2016, 01:37:26 PM
I just watched the tutorial video from the front page and apparently you need to input your Amazon log-in email and password into iPayYou website for this to work. Also they have their own fee and an additional network fee so it's not exactly cheap. The transacted amount of around $18 had a $1 iPayYou service fee. And I would not disclose my Amazon log-in credential to 3rd party websites if I had some gift card balance already loaded onto my account.
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Circle CEO on BTC: Nobody Will Be Using Bitcoin in 5 to 10 Years on: November 24, 2016, 06:11:29 AM
I don't want to comment on his words because he is an Internet entrepreneur and technologist and he surely knows his stuff. Plus belittling a CEO is outside of my pay grade anyways  Grin

However if high-ranking people like him think that Bitcoin will not survive in the long-term, I suppose the issues and limitations lie within the current technology itself. Maybe he knows something we don't know. I would take his words with a grain of salt, though.
We must not forget that the next big thing might be around the corner. Technology never stays stagnant and new developments might emerge soon. I don't think we should invest all of our eggs into the Bitcoin's basket  Wink
92  Economy / Economics / Re: Imposing tax on bitcoin on: November 24, 2016, 05:47:46 AM
I think if the US government are going to tax Bitcoin they will first try regulating all the Bitcoin exchanges in the USA and they will most probably gather all the needed personal and financial information from them. So every time a customer buys or sells Bitcoin the IRS will know how much to tax and for what exactly.
93  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: {{WARNING}} BiPolarBob account has been resold on: November 23, 2016, 07:25:55 PM
How do you know the account of BPB is resold? Changing the password doesn't automatically mean it has changed hands and BPB always tends to start crazy deals threads. I have seen him ask for loans before albeit for smaller sums but he has always repaid with a nice interest so what's the emergency now that he is asking for 1BTC upfront? BPB has always been a proponent of blindly trusting random people over the Internet  Grin

this just proves how stupid all of you are!!!!!!!!! what more proof is there?

Proof for what? A long con is unfolding soon? People have heads on their shoulders and they are going to burn their own money so just let them do whatever they want. What's in for you for alerting the poor stupid masses anyways?

How do you know PBP has a new owner? You haven't answered my question yet.

Fuck this. you are probably one of his accounts anyway. go ahead and scam the poor stupid masses

I did my part. fuck you stupid homo goat raping dick cheese maggot ass

96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin business idea on: November 23, 2016, 06:27:57 PM
Dude if someone had a successful business idea involving Bitcoin they wouldn't tell other people about it and sure as hell they wouldn't divulge it on a public forum  Grin
The best way to avoid the saturated market is to find a niche and think outside of the box. Come up with something unique and the money will start rolling in.
97  Economy / Economics / Re: How many Bitcoins for Retirement. For Average Age and Salary NEWBIE. on: November 23, 2016, 04:24:15 PM
It depends on what the price of Bitcoin is now vs what the price of Bitcoin will be at the time of your retirement. Also it would depend on the average salary in different countries in the world. What would seem enough for you to retire comfortably might not be enough for me to lead a normal lifestyle in my country for example. I think 100 BTC is the bare minimum for Europe because the cost of living is high. Bitcoin has so many variables that I would just choose a solid pension fund and save Bitcoins every month from my salary as I go on the side. It's a win-win situation.
98  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: November 23, 2016, 04:11:43 PM
Arsenal and PSG both have 10 points and are basically unreachable by the other 2 bottom teams. Having already qualified for the next round I think they won't waste a lot of energy tonight and we might watch a boring match with not a lot of goal opportunities. I like the half time & full time draw and under 2.5 goals in this match. I know that these teams can be unpredictable sometimes and go on a goal spree but the managers of Arsenal and PSG might decide to bench some key players tonight and focus on their local championships instead.
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much would you have now if you bought btc instead of your first smartphone? on: November 23, 2016, 02:25:35 PM
It's a neat idea but I think Sony phones are missing from the list so I had to cross-check with similarly priced phones from the included manufacturers and it seems I have missed on around $6,804,947 USD  Grin But I have spent much more money on the pre-Windows Nokia phones and I guess if I had invested that money in Bitcoin instead I would have probably had more than $100k today  Shocked
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best metric for evaluating Bitcoin adoption rate over time on: November 23, 2016, 06:48:38 AM
I am not sure if this is such a good idea to be honest. Using the amount of Bitcoin transactions processed daily to gauge the adoption rate might be misleading because it's very easy to spam the Blockchain with fake TX. How can we distinguish between the real TX and the bot spammed fake TX? Increasing the amount of daily TX doesn't always translate to more unique users

Fake transactions usually don't have fees set, right? If so, they can be easily found and discarded. On the other hand, if they have fees, then are they really fake?

Wouldn't that plateau as we reach the blocksize limit? Bitcoin adoption could be increasing, with more transactions moving off-chain.
But we wouldn't able to figure that out, by justing looking at the number of transactions being processed.

There are still many half empty (or half full) blocks on the blockchain, or blocks with only the block generating transaction (don't know how it is properly called). When we get to the point at which there would be no more room for transactions in all blocks at the current block size during, say, a day, the block should be already expanded to accommodate all these new transactions...

It would be interesting to know the average percentage at which blocks are filled right now

I didn't word my sentence right, sorry. What I meant to say is that people have tried to flood the Blockchain with dust transactions before and these had fees attached to them although sub-optimal in order to slow down the network. So the mem pool would appear to be filled and it would seem that there is an influx of so many new Bitcoin users but in reality the amount of TX doesn't show the accurate amount of Bitcoin users. This can be really misleading.
