Economists on the other hand works for institutions that are largely government-funded, and that means that money flows in regardless of the quality of their work (and that's an understatement).
It's not a matter of quality as it is a matter of not understanding the actual job of economists.

The job of economist is to produce convincing ex post facto justifications for government policies. This is what they get paid for, and that's what they do.

The public's incorrect assumption that their job has anything to do with objective truth makes their job easier, so it's not a mistake they are interested in correcting.

I have to agree. I almost went with undergrad in Econ. Meet the guys teaching and was like WTF.

87  Economy / Goods / Re: [CLOSED] Sweet gun for sale! PS-90 compact rifle! on: June 01, 2014, 05:27:47 PM
that really is a pretty good deal for a new one.

the trevor is far better but the ps90 is pretty damn cool.

you can literately run around with one in each hand, or have one, toss it over to the other hand to use a radio and still be able to fully use it. light enough for one hand. the reloading is a bit shit but still.

bull pups are so awesome for close quarters, in houses buildings and the like.

...
I guess there is an assumption that the board members were paid off to not say anything about the company being bought or some other nefarious event?

I'm not implying that the board members were paid off, but I know that TAT, for one, gave up his position.  I also have no idea how many shares are currently held by the board--shares could have changed hands at any point, by multiple means.  I'm also not clairvoyant, I don't always know exactly how each and every scam is done.  I simply allow for the fact that there are possibilities I haven't considered.  Con artists who are good at their trade are as specialized as aardvarks, they study and refine their craft just like any other professional. Just like I don't expect to understand the minutia of ant-eating, it seems foolish to assume I grasp the art of the con as fully as the ones working it.

And that's all I'm saying here--not understanding how a scam works is not proof of it not being a scam.  Everything beyond that was thrust onto me by ASICMINER fanbois and jittery "investors."  To be clearer still, I never called this a scam--merely pointed out that the odds of losing on this are astoundingly high.  Not only due to FC, but to a slew of third-party risks--exchanges, etc.  The potential upside in no way compensates for this, making this a nonstarter as an investment.

Hope this is a bit clearer.

TAT never had a position. He had it because of the Passthrough management and he was forced out of it when Havelock took over. Now his personal opinion is one thing but he definitely doesn't have super secret conspiracy type information to base his opinion on.

He was also speaking in a place that is very anti anything that MP is selling. There is a reason he did not say that stuff here.

anyway TAT is not a guy i would take trading advice from, or even trust with BTC.

98  Other / Meta / Can I get a thread calling me a scammer unlocked? on: June 01, 2014, 04:34:09 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622250.0

This guy be trolling and extorting. What is the point of calling me a scammer and locking a thread?

anyway the news post i need to add is here

My offer for you is to talk about the problem and try to solve this without the court.
If you think this is not serious, you can take the offer seriously after receiving the court invite,it is the same for me when you will take it serious,it may be only your problem.
Gurrty agreed with me to ask agreement for 60% of the full amount as agreement for you but claiming for 100% refund from the court.
You can consider that with your lawyers and i bet if they are good, they will advice you to refund that 60% and leave with 40% just like that.
The idea of the 60% is just to make the things better for you and also not leaving my custumer with empty hands.
That's a soluthin which both of you can and must be happy, because the facts i noted above (he won't leave with empty hands, and you in your end, won't have troubles in country which you know nothing about and also the laws on it).
That's a chance for both of you just to complete the misunderstanding between you without spending money on travel, translators, lawyers services and many many more.
We are open to her your and your lawyers decision.
No one is here to threatens,we all are here to find good solution for both of us.
If you are not able to even refund the 60%,if Gurrty accepts,he may give you respite for weekly/montly payments or etc.
Everything can be discussed.
The case will be civil for misleading and lying with ponzi and scam schemes for stealing small and high amounts.
Also not in second place Bitcoin si known also for usage for that kind of schemes and things like drugs, terorism and many many bad names which we can use for the things which you have used your coins and the acquisition itself.
It will be started from me as laywer who represent my custumer based on the proofs we have so far,and the claim won't be only for the problems with my custumer, but all the schemes you are doing.
Your lawyers will also explain you that the court have right and they will do any research for your monthly incoming, your taxes and everything about your money, how they was earned and everything.
So i hope you didn't throw your receipts and you have valid proofs for your incomes Smiley
No matter what you think you know, the court have the only and the last word and you must know that.
I am tired to telling you to contact your lawyers before its to late.
And think about the agreement.
