There's one big flaw in your reasoning: I'm pretty sure most people don't have a safe and secure way to hold physical gold (especially 5% of their net worth). People cry about the security of crypto but to me it's a hell better to hold when looking at storage costs and costs of theft or loss. I'm sure we agree holding paper gold is no substitute. Where am I (or most other people for that matter) going to safely store physical bullion? gold is small and dense. you can hide in in a flower pot, in the water storage area of your toilet, you can wear it around your neck. most people do not have $100,000 worth of gold they need to store, and if that really is your problem, you have a good problem to have. pretty sure you can come up with something. |

The problem with gold is you know where it is. If say the BRICs start a new trading block and have a new version of the IMF backed by gold, managing gold reserves becomes a problem if you settle trade deficits in gold and need to transport it by ship the opposing PTB can just sink that ship and destabilize the banking in the trading block. Crypto solves this problem. The other solution is you keep it with the equivalent of the FED, and over time risk that they lease it out and you are back at the distinction manipulated banking system you tried to escape. So why not just stick with the existing system. Hello there is this new system! as you say it may break, but if it doesn't, wow it's going to be big. Unfortunately the benefactors are rather distrusting of it. my point is, there is no way in the near future nation states will use crypto coins for international trade. since they will not use crypto what will they use? yes gold is not perfect but it has worked pretty damn well for 6000 years. what will happen in 50 years? well that is a whole different game... but in 50 years im pretty sure im going to be dead... |

Gold is supremely impractical in the modern world. Bitcoin solves every problem that gold solves and even some that gold can't solve.

I do not understand why you are not long term long gold. You see the money supply going way up and it is only the velocity that is going down. Once velocity even gets back near to normal inflation levels will be insane.
Sure gold could lose 70% of it's value before then, but fiat is dead....

I agree with this as well, but there is no point in saying gold is down and btc is up when clearly that is not the case. I have been trading gold/silver since 2002 and btc since 2010. the thing i noticed in that time is that some times it is good to use btc to buy gold, and some times to use gold to buy btc. btc does not always go up and gold does not always go down. to say that it does every week, esp in 2014 is just  well i dont know what it is. i 100% do not understand why it is being done. anyone with access to a 6 month chart of both btc and gold will know that it is just not true. |

What if Silk Road 2.0 didn't have any customers, but claimed they did, then claimed they were hacked, then claimed all it's customers were to be made whole, with nobody complaining because there were no customers in the first place. Now that the hole is plugged sans a leak, trust is now established to garner real customers to participate in the long con.

The Terraminers have been sold. Part of the payment is clearing escrow right now, another part is waiting for completion. MP needs to confirm if this was only the first part or the whole thing, but why would I rely on any sort of competence from this new custodian. His first post here was attacking us so I'm not 100% sure MP is not one of the several 100 socks Garr has. Anyway as far as I can tell no one is taking legal action against Garr so it looks like he got away clean. One Terraminer is being sold back to CT for the purchase price (which is greater than their current retail price so it would be impossible to sell it for more) to pay them for the shipping costs which totaled over $6,000 USD What does this mean? Does it mean one Terraminer is being given back to CT to cover previously unpaid shipping costs? This is illegal. If he is in liquidation he can not just give away our stuff to pay back some selective debts. Edit: Also I see you are in a far away place. That is good for you as the law will odds are not bother to get you (assuming you do not come to the USA) but that makes you not exactly ideal to manage our stuff. Garr clearly is the one doing things like giving away our assets. You are just a new tool he is using to communicate. If you do have control of anything, like BTC please prove it to us. I'm going to assume Garr still has everything. |
