Have you got your wallet.dat backup?
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: question about upgrading to the new edition on: June 09, 2011, 09:15:39 PM
Here's a step by step guide

83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: question about upgrading to the new edition on: June 09, 2011, 08:54:48 PM
Yes it will - it will generate a new wallet.dat
Don't understand the question
Info about transactions is stored in the blockchain(blk0001.dat, blkindex.dat) not in the wallet.dat. wallet.dat contains your pub/priv keys

You may want to familiarize yourself with how Bitcoin works by reading our wiki
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page

Also, you definitely want to read about securing your wallet

Back up your wallet.dat before updating. It should be fine, but backups never hurt. Then download new client, uninstall the old one and install the new one. That's it.

Btw, geeks ARE normal people - the rest of you are a bit weird  Wink

Your client is having trouble downloading the blocks

Close your client, open terminal and run these commands

Code:
cd /Applications/
Code:
Bitcoin.app/contents/macos/bitcoin -addnode=69.164.218.197 -addnode=64.22.103.150 -addnode=173.242.112.53 -addnode=178.79.147.99 -addnode=184.106.111.41 -addnode=91.85.220.84 -addnode=173.224.125.222 -addnode=86.5.50.90

That is impossible. Please don't guess.
Post the exact figures at this moment

How many connections and blocks do you see at the lower right corner of the client?

edit: and what operating system are you using?

No - not just you. It is very frustrating.
Is it just a matter of buying few more boxes or something else?

And please change the title of the thread so not to scare people with no reason
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is 450W enough for a single 5830? on: June 09, 2011, 03:22:22 PM
Corsair is great.
I personally would not buy a used psu, because their lifespan is estimated for certain amount of hours and you never know how long it's been used for and at what load.

It's a bit early for malware. Glad it was an easy fix  Smiley

Your address looks awfully similar to testnet address. Have you played with testnet and forgot to turn it off?
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is 450W enough for a single 5830? on: June 09, 2011, 02:49:44 PM
Alternatively there is a lightly used one of these on eBay for £25 ($40)

Anyone want to offer an opinion on this PSU?

Thanks
Monkey

That's exactly the one my friend blew in two hours, except it was 1050W  Grin Don't buy PowerCool

Like phantastisch said - it totally depends on the brand. The amount of power you have is plenty. I was mining on a 5870 with a 250W for about a week until I got round to buying a better one Grin while my friend blew a 1000W brandless psu within couple of hours mining with 2x 5870
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin will visit the CIA on: June 09, 2011, 09:45:10 AM
If CIA hooks up their mainframe to mine bitcoins. We are all fucked, big time.

So you think CIA has something that is faster than the top 500 supercomputers on earth combined?

The firewall is not the only problem. http://english.mofcom.gov.cn/aarticle/newsrelease/commonnews/200906/20090606364208.html

To circumvent it is very easy. All you need to do is
1. Download Tor browser bundle
2. Download Bitcoin
3. Start Tor and in Bitcoin client Settings->Options check "Connect through socks4 proxy"
Use IP 127.0.0.1 Port 9050 which are default
