801  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Casascius coins with PGP chains of custody on: March 14, 2015, 10:42:35 PM
Hi

N.B. The forthcoming complete lack of offers should be kept in mind when bidding on my coin which has PGP docs.

Do you mean that most coins without PGP docs are counterfeit/fake or compromised?
Not sure if a custody chain can be of any help to refrain such troubles, but maybe i'm wrong...

no - it just helps to unequivocably prove that you are the rightful owner of the coins, ideally via direct purchase from Mike Caldwell.

on that note - I have some 2013 1BTC silver w/ Gold coins that have been kept in storage with PGP documents and ALL original packaging. Asking 3.0BTC/ea right now though - which may be more than you're looking to pay

*luckily - its clear that having only 700 of these coins ever made means there is a serious rarity factor to them, considering I started with a roll of 20 (ive sold a good portion of them though)*

So you had Mike extend the chain to you, or you just have the scans from him?

I have a PGP-signed message similar to camolist's for the 20 coins i was sold. I would be happy to provide further PGP-signed message to demonstrate my sale of the coin(s).

I still don't see the anything about the card whatsoever. Maybe you'd want to direct me to the actual post.
Because it requires thinking dude. THINK! The name of the poster matches the name of the blog, therefore retard, this is the same person who lives in Slovenia and is selling bitcoin art. Therefore the card is fake and you are stupid.

whats wrong with you? its clearly a business card and not a canvas. OP claims its a legit card direct from J.Z. and does not indicate in any way that it is art or fake.

stop being stupid and calling people stupid because you are misguided

bump to the top - great for server gear conversions like the sidehack boards!

What am I missing here? 0,25$/GH wth 1155 means 288,75 USD. Bitmain's site states 369 USD ( 1.279 BTC )

That was true when the S5 first came out  (and the thread started), i.e batch 1 .... what you see on the bitmain website is batches 5 & 6 (a few months down the road!)

you can change the subject line at least temporarily Smiley

hopefully ill move some CAD in soon
807  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF3301 Tapeout Complete [Updated 10/3/15] on: March 13, 2015, 01:58:51 AM

The SF3301 is the first of a new generation of dual-algorithm mining chips, the world’s first 28nm with the capability to mine SHA-256 and Scrypt simultaneously. The advantages of this ability translate to an extended period of effectiveness for the miner and increased profitability.

By using FDSOI technology not currently present in any other chip on the market, power efficiency when mining with SHA-256 is predicted to reach below the 0.3 J/GH range, and 2.0 J/MH when mining with Scrypt.

why do both types on mining in a single device? On a single chip at that? is it really practical to design two complex slgorithms in a single chip, instead of producing a sha256-miner and a scrypt-miner?

sorry - but a picture of a front desk doesnt do it for me, and I hope you dont go looking for a pre-order
808  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: March 11, 2015, 10:39:54 PM
Hmm most of my asics are around 85 to 100 Celcius, got some at 115 Celcius and one is running at 125!!

thats about ideal. if you see more than 2-3 running at 125C you might need to tune back slightly, but temps seem fine. *slightly lower temps are slightly better for the system
809  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: March 11, 2015, 04:31:23 PM
I'm picking up a used SP20E today, and I've got a question about powering it that hopefully Spondoolies can answer.

I'm powering all of my S4 units with Delta DPS2000 (2000w) server PSUs with breakout boards, and those PSUs are only loaded to about 1400w. Would it be OK for me to power the SP20E using a PCI-e cable from 4 different DPS2000s to share the load? Would it cause any issues? Or should I power each board from only 1 PSU, ie 2 DPS2000s for the SP20E?

If it's an issue either way, I can just set up another DPS2000. I've got plenty of them.

the SP20 has two internal boards, each with 2 PCIe connectors (vertically above eachother). AFAIK you can only use a maximum of two seperate PSUs to run it, 1 per board (like with an antminer)

From a PSU standpoint, you might consider tying the current-share lines on those so they load-balance. This should keep the voltages in check and make common-railing multiple supplies less tricky. At least the pairs that power the same boards should be current-shared. But definitely defer to SP-Tech's advice on how to handle that.

I'm always cautious about this. If for any reason one PSU trips or fails, the other one will take the load and fail within seconds (or instantly). Generally, load-sharing is better for applications where power draw ranges from 20%-100%, rather than being 100% all the time like in bitcoin mining.
810  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: New info 3/11 on: March 11, 2015, 04:24:16 PM
Ah, guess my numbers were a bit off when I was looking over that config a couple days ago. Let's go back over that...

According to the chart in the first post of your S5 thread, 10GH per chip should be possible at 0.67V (12V/18 string) which should put up 360GH per ~100W board. Is that chart wrong, or am I overlooking something?

edit:

Assuming the W/GH is linear between 0.65V and 0.70V, at 0.667V you'd see right at 0.3W/GH so a 100W board with 36 chips at 0.667V would max at 333GH or 9.25GH per chip. This gets a 3.3TH miner at 10 boards 1000W but probably means underclocking to do it. If they're looking more like 12GH per chip at 6 boards, that'd be 430GH at 130W per board, 2.6TH at about 800W. That's a ballpark based on some assumptions. Bitmain, am I close?

^sounds about right. Bitmain has said the new chips can do around 0.3w/GH at lower speeds (probably at the PSU, not at the wall), so easch board running at something like 320GH would allow 3.2TH by filling all the slots in an S2.

however, It would be pretty sweet if it was setup to do ~3TH/1kW using only 7 boards or so, giving the option for those with bigger power supplies to buy an extra 1-3 boards to turn the S2 into a maximum of 4.2TH/1.4kW system.

Ive sold off my S2 units already since this upgrade took so long to produce, but hopefully bitmain can make a high-density, externally-powered S6 or equivelent that could be somewhat comparable in specs to an SP31
811  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: March 11, 2015, 01:21:29 AM
So will Spondoolies not be releasing a new home miner for quite a while? I guess we are stuck with Bitmain and their price gouging? I would love to buy something larger like the SP31, but do not have the electrical setup for that. I really do not like how Bitmain jacked up prices and added in pre orders. SP please save us!!

SP31s aren't too bad in a home setting if you underclock them. Underclocking is a good idea anyway because of the efficiency gains. You can get about 4 TH/s on 2.1 kW. Reducing the power consumption lets you drop the fan speeds substantially, which reduces the noise that they generate.

+1. at that sort of power level the SP3x is actually a reasonable volume and the efficiency/hashrate you get from a single box is far superior to the [relatively speaking] IT nightmare of running 4 Sp20 units at a similar spec.

What IT nightmare? Using a switch to separate Network connection?
Or are you talking about the need for 4 power supplies?
4x Sp20's running at 525Watts get about 1050GH/s +- 5% or less. Totals 4.2TH/s, with the ability to turn up the power for a total of an easy 6TH/s-7TH/s at below full blast.

hence the "[relatively speaking]". Assuming you use a switch, running 4x SP20 with 2x 1200W PSUs means a total: 6 miners, 5 ethernet cables, 4+2 power cords, a dozen PCIe cables, etc.

its not a big mess, but its a lot more than a single box with 1 ethernet, 2 power cords. And you can probably find it for cheaper than buying four SP20 units

woah - a lot of pages to catch up on. The initial price was high enough i didn't jump at it, and the new price is just absurd.

regarding the S3++ being china-only: it makes sense. to ship them overseas is at least twice the KG/hash of the S5

I really want an S6 or better product. Something with a minimum of 4TH in a small package with external PCIe connectors (please balance so <270W/cable at peak)
814  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Old Hardware for Purchase? on: March 11, 2015, 12:26:17 AM
Thanks! Yeah, $180 might be too much. Hoping to just buy one or two small things ~$100.

sounds like you might just want an antminer S1 ($30). but if you pay for power and have a budget <$100 your best bet is to just buy some BTC instead.
815  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: You can now order S5 on Bitmaintech on: March 09, 2015, 02:32:06 PM
huh... pre-orders much?

June 6? Thats a pretty long time to wait when the product is only ~20% cheaper than it was weeks ago
816  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnC Neptune Fire hazard warning on: March 09, 2015, 02:33:59 AM
I make custom 16awg PCIe leads and find that they dont get 'cautiously warm' until >280W and 'concerningly warm' until >330W. I imagine >350 you start risking failure.

the common issue is the connector though, not the wires - and its caused when only 4-5 of the 6 pins make a full, tight connection. a bit of a gap will build up a lot of resisance and or send a small spark gap
817  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Hardware Support **Unofficial on: March 08, 2015, 05:34:11 PM
Im likely grabbing one of these locally, but might not be able to run it until BTC goes >$300USD.

can they be underclocked for better efficiency and lower noise? I havent been able to find much information about this, but it sounds like there is some sort of power stepping option that might help bring the unit close to 1TH/1kW?
818  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] [EU] 2x KNC Neptune 3+THs on: March 08, 2015, 05:06:21 PM
is shipping to Toronto, Canada viable? what price are you looking for - as ebay these go for $1000-1200 usd (and then have 10% fees)
819  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: March 08, 2015, 04:58:07 PM
...the knc Jupiter you see in the pics is already a door stop...

So many turned-off miners everywhere. I don't understand why you people are not selling this turned-off hardware, there are places with some dirt-cheap electricity who will surely be interested, it's a shame all that hashing power to be off when it can be of use to the network. The electricity price and difficulty very, very likely will not go down enough for this hardware to be turned on again at their current locations, so selling is a gain for everyone, or I'm missing something?

Even if one had free power, potential profit would quite possibly be ruined by shipping costs of things that heavy.

Creating capacity is expensive and a farm with mixed old hardware is much of a bother.
If you already spend a lot of money on a transformer, cooling, power distribution, factory hall, etc. You want nice, new hardware.
not necessarily.

say you had a 100kW facility in 2014. Its likely filled now if you had cheap power.
in 2015 you build a second location that makes improvements over the first (evap cooling, 1MW, different power distribution method).
In 2016 it may be a new business altogether. I dont think we are far from 600V miners that ship in cooling tanks or modular pallets/containers designed for high-density, 0.1w/GH equipment
820  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 66 Antminer S3 miners in Canada on: March 08, 2015, 04:08:51 PM
Well according to what he tells me "this weekend i have order for 5 S3+ and 2S3. S3+ package for 420 and s3 package for 380/400 depending on situation."
I think he is getting a better deal selling the locally so I'm starting to think closing this thread might be best as it's not likely he's going to get much action from the forum. Based on that price he's getting his asking price of 169 CAD (133 USD). He's selling them with HP 1200 watt PSUs too that each cost around $70 CAD so it's a decent deal I guess.

well i would take 10 in toronto for the right price (ideally <$140cad/ea)
