801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mastering Bitcoin Security: Tips, Tools, and Best Practices on: October 07, 2023, 06:21:01 AM
Apart from the fact that MetaMask is an altcoin wallet not a "shield"; technically you should keep your bitcoin offline so that getting your online system infected wouldn't affect them. And if you want protection install uBlock Origin and a decent Anti Virus on your system that has net protection.

I know a lot of people here dislike Ethereum, MetaMask does have a feature of potentially showing a warning if the user opens a phishing site, which I don't think uBlock Origin has that feature.

There's this one plugin that's made exclusively for blocking phishing sites though, so it should be a better pick than MetaMask. I forgot the name of the plugin.

I'm not a gamer, but as far as I know, not all games can run on Linux. To do this, you need an application that all Linux lovers believe makes the system itself less secure. In general, Linux is not for games.
Game companies are slowly but surely optimizing for Linux; but if you like playing those lesser-known games by smaller companies, it'll be a pain in the ass to configure for it to work, or it'll simply not work.

But if we talk about the fact that you need to “bother” with Linux, then it will take a day or two to study at least a video on YouTube. To publish on the forum and work with wallets, such knowledge of Linux is quite enough. And later, you can discover something new in these convenient systems. Cheesy
Used Linux for almost a year back then; I don't even want to remember the amount of time I used trying to fix things.

Don't get me wrong — it's kinda fun and it's a good learning experience if you have the luxury of not having to need to have a 8-5 job, but for most people? Definitely not.

If you can't afford Windows KEY then find a free OS to download and use, Windows OS isn't the only one available, Linux OSs are free to use, you can do pretty much everything on Linux just like Windows OS, browse, install crypto wallets, etc and even Linux is more secured than Windows.

I’m just going to add: definitely don’t go with Linux if you’re not willing to tinker with stuff because some things have higher likeliness of breaking; especially when you’re a gamer.

You can buy legitimate CD keys on sites like eBay or somewhere else for a lot cheaper. Around $5-10 dollars if I remember correctly.
804  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Alternate to Trading View on: October 06, 2023, 10:28:58 AM
I would like to know if there is any alternative to the trading view which gives similar fractionality like a trading view but it is totally free of cost and provides similar value.

I totally doubt there will be a free service that will come close to TradingView’s Pro functionality. Running and maintaining such service will require decent devs and decent servers — in which both things cost a good amount of money.

Pretty difficult to know if a cracked and modified Windows 10 has malware or not as they're not open-source. But one thing's for sure — it ain't worth risking. If you don't have a hardware wallet(which you should get by the way), at the very least use a mobile wallet. It's likely to be more secure than your personal desktop/laptop computer.
806  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to Cash without KYC? on: October 06, 2023, 05:05:02 AM
1. Bitcoin ATMs that don't request AML/KYC

2. Bisq/HodlHodl/LocalCryptos

3. Some local Facebook group. Just make sure to do the transaction in a well secured place like a mall
807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Secret of investing no one tells you about on: October 06, 2023, 04:27:21 AM
Topic: "Secret of investing no one tells you about"
The content: The absolutely most common investing advice ever.

You don't need to make topics similar to BuzzFeed article titles broski. But decent advice nonetheless.
808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I lost my money due to an exchange error (I think) on: October 06, 2023, 03:56:48 AM
It'll mostly depend on the wallet system of the exchange. Some provide different addresses per network, some do it a lot more simpler and provide the same exact wallet address for all EVM chains; as to prevent those typical user mistakes as well.
809  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Next-GenTrading Platforms: The Ultimate of DEX and CEX on: October 05, 2023, 07:43:29 AM
Why though? Orderbooks are far more efficient than automated market makers(AMMs). The advantage of AMMs is that you wouldn't need to deposit funds on a centralized platform, so why would you have an AMM on a CEX if orderbooks are far superior? It really just doesn't mix.
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lessons of my experience and knowledge about Bitcoin on: October 05, 2023, 07:28:40 AM
Or just don't go.

Might be the best option for most people(because some conferences end up being on YouTube), but not if you want to connect with people if it's the case that you want to start a bitcoin/crypto-related business.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lessons of my experience and knowledge about Bitcoin on: October 05, 2023, 03:59:58 AM
_ Attend meet up and conference, the Bitcoin community is awesome.

Though this is not necessarily bad, just be cautious that it could be a security and privacy nightmare. Probably wear a facemask and a cap, and don't go straight home after the conference/meetup, instead, go to a very public place like a mall first. Just to be sure as to prevent people from following you.

812  Other / Meta / Re: Can one plagarise unintentionally? on: October 04, 2023, 11:56:20 AM
They’re pretty strict with the consequences but I’m pretty sure they let some pass, when someone uses a very common quote without citing the source.

You know, the likes of:

- “Only invest what you’re willing to lose.” (overly used to the point that we don’t know who first publicly used this quote.)
- “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” - Overly quoted as well but is apparently said by Warren Buffett
- “Not your keys, not your bitcoin.” - Overly quoted as well, but is apparently said by Andreas Antonopoulos

Mods and admins at the end of the day are human beings, not robots. I’m pretty sure there will be exceptions.
813  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Kailan Kaya Tayo Magkakaroon Ng Cryptocurrenct Summit Na Involve Lahat on: October 04, 2023, 11:36:41 AM
Sa abroad kadalasan ang cryptocurrency-related conferences simply dahil andun usually mga developers at project founders. As far as I know puros naman traders and investors dito sa Pilipinas eh, not necessarily project founders.
814  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Account ni satoshi Nakamoto nagtweet? on: October 04, 2023, 10:56:06 AM
Doesn’t make any sense so obviously hindi siya yan.
815  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need to Trade My Coin on: October 04, 2023, 01:15:20 AM
Trading can work when done correctly, but most people are simply incapable. Most people are really better off increasing their holdings by simply getting a job, getting gigs, or starting a business. Definitely no guarantees on making money in these things as well but success rates are definitely higher than with trading.
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the ultimate shitcoin for having a useless mining algorithm. on: October 04, 2023, 12:57:27 AM
Edcrypto91 and sheenshane-If you don't want me to be here, then f@#$ you. Bitcoin attracts people like you precisely because it has an anti-scientific mining algorithm.

So anything that doesn't advance science is anti-science? So, let's say for example if Bitcoin's mining algorithm actually "advances science", would it end up being anti other industries based on your description?

While Bitcoin definitely isn't perfect, it simply won't be able to please everyone lmao.
817  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading purely based on luck. on: October 03, 2023, 11:52:09 PM
I considered this experiment a success mainly due to the fact that I was trading on a demo account with no emotional involvement, and the trades automatically closed when they reached their stop loss levels, and I did not make impulsive decisions to alter the stop loss orders.

But it's mainly — like you said, because of luck. Congratulations on being successful in these 3 days, but yea we all know that it'll be totally unreliable if anyone does it longer.

But yea, people should be trading using plans; not impulsively making decisions along the way. (Though making decisions off new information definitely ain't bad as well.)
818  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful were you put your hard earn money on: October 03, 2023, 11:25:23 PM
These types of grifts exist even in bear markets. It's just the fact that these ones gained a lot more traction because the markets was quite bullish in general, so people were generally getting too cocky.

As for FTX, boy was that surprising for me. Fortunately I didn't have any balance on the platform.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this fascination with claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto? on: October 03, 2023, 03:41:57 PM
It's mostly just the fact that they have the financial incentive to do so — from running a fork and attempting to beat the 'main' fork(Craig Wright), to getting news headlines with their name with it(some of the dudes in the list). Unless the person is insane, it simply just doesn't make any sense to try to claim to be Satoshi without any financial incentive due to the risks(the government might suicide you).
820  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hey, Hi. on: October 03, 2023, 02:10:46 PM
Here's a tip: all(or at least most) decently-great/reputable cryptocurrency software are totally open-source.

So, if you want to check out wallet code, go scan MetaMask/BlueWallet's code; Uniswap/dYdX for DEX code; Winr/BetSwirl/Azuro for casino code, etc.
