841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we get some regulation in this forum? on: June 12, 2011, 05:48:32 AM
I don't think the bitcoin forum should be at bitcoin.org. Just my (latest) 2 cents. I agree that this place is very unprofessional.
842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monday morning rally for real? on: June 12, 2011, 05:45:08 AM
The coins are still over valued.. At 30 they are insanely overvalued.

Fundamentals do actually matter and right now you cant buy anything with bitcoins...

Except drugzzz. Don't forget.
843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: capitulation. on: June 12, 2011, 05:43:25 AM
Bitcoin will go back up. If you look at the trade volume in dollars it is remarkably high even with the lower price. I do not think the trade volume will go down. Once the volatility simmers down a bit, I think the base price of bitcoins will increase. So just wait. This is my prediction... take it or leave it.

All that means is that miners are dumping bitcoins as soon as they mine them. Trade volume should be low if miners mined and then held which would indicate bullish sentiment. The question is whether or not miners are the smart money or merely mercenaries.

This is true, however I think the trade volume in dollars will be consistently high in the next month. People aren't going to just forget about Bitcoin so soon. People want to be dealing in Bitcoins, whether it's buying or selling.
844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bet: Bitcoin to rise above $49 in the next 30 days. on: June 12, 2011, 05:39:19 AM
Again I don't understand how to bet, but I think this will happen at 60:40 odds. (60 for)
If you want to bet on it happening, you can buy a share from me for .95 BTC. Once it happens I'll give you 1 BTC.

...or you can wait for others to sell their own shares for much cheaper or sell your own if you believe it will happen. I am sorry you don't understand. : ( Just keep asking for details.

Ok, that makes sense. I might on Monday since I'm not at my place right now.

Someone really needs to make a prediction market website, so you can create predictions about anything, with an expiration date, and these act like shares that people can buy/sell.

846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had 1,000,000 bitcoins, what would you do with them? on: June 12, 2011, 05:22:02 AM
Why would you want a private military? The only place you could use it is somewhere with shitty living conditions, without modern conveniences such as 3G wireless.
There is a lot of liberty lacking in this world.

Empirically speaking, in this world you can't have liberty and modern conveniences side by side (I mean modern, not 2005-era). So you'd have to give that up. Healthcare and stuff too.
847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had 1,000,000 bitcoins, what would you do with them? on: June 12, 2011, 05:19:37 AM
Nobody will be allowed to own 5% of the world's wealth.

You'll die of mysterious diseases, your hoarding will disappear. So the value of these coins gets evenly distributed to the rest of btc world.

Sounds scary? Bitcoin Communist Party will make it happen  Wink

Since when is Bitcoin all the world's wealth? Last I checked, it was just a high school student's computer lab project.

I got that too recently!! So I logged into my corporate VPN and now it's fine. I couldn't tell if it was a bug or if my IP got banned for trolling.
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / If you had 1,000,000 bitcoins, what would you do with them? on: June 12, 2011, 04:41:52 AM
I think that I would sell 200 every day and live off of them, and hoard the rest. And I'd definitely quit my job, working sucks (even tho my software engineering job is fine, I just don't like working).

edit:

I changed my mind. I would convert 2000 bitcoins a day to dollars, until I have 500,000 left. And then have half bitcoins and the rest dollars.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bet: Bitcoin to decline below $5 within the next 30 days. on: June 12, 2011, 04:30:07 AM
How do I "trade"?

Send bitcoins to you, make someone send them to me, how do I record it, how do I know they will get redeemed, how do I know how much is redeemed versus how much is sent, etc. It's advanced logic.
854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: capitulation. on: June 12, 2011, 04:26:17 AM
You're 10 years old? You're quite literate. Also I am not giving up my bitcoins either, so I agree on that sentinel.

You must be new to the Internet. I wish I could have skipped the AOL and Myspace days...
856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monday morning rally for real? on: June 12, 2011, 04:17:56 AM
The best time to buy is after the price goes up a lot, not down, so I share your doubts.

Buy high, sell low.
857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bet: Bitcoin to decline below $5 within the next 30 days. on: June 12, 2011, 04:01:00 AM
I know that it's workable, but I don't want to calculate math out manually and stuff.
858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bet: Bitcoin to decline below $5 within the next 30 days. on: June 12, 2011, 03:56:28 AM
I don't really understand how this works... I just wish there was a button I could press... but I don't think this will happen. There is way too much trade volume compared to last month for it to be worth so low.
859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So when will the drop in price stop? on: June 12, 2011, 03:38:31 AM
The bubble bursting is compounded with the reduction of trade on the weekends IMHO.

What bubble?   Cheesy
The real bubble begins at $43,000/BTC!!!
and keeps going until each BTC is worth over $4 Million dollars.*

*You can laugh at this now, but only 3 days ago many people would have found these ideas sane and possible.
Build websites and businesses that accept BTC.

They might be possible on Monday and Tuesday if we have a rally, but then shown to be impossible again by the end of the week. What is impossible, becomes possible, and vice versa. For example if an asteroid is heading away from Earth, you just know it's impossible it will ever hit, but then it loops back around in a gravity spiral and wham! Everyone dies.

My gut feelings, closing prices:

Day       $/BTC

Sunday:       10-13
Monday:       14-16
Tuesday:      17-19
Wednesday:  16-20
Thursday:     20-24
