843  Economy / Services / [finished] Programming job - implement extranonce.subscribe into cgminer on: October 22, 2014, 04:39:21 PM
Hi,

*edit: job finished by hyperwang

We are looking for someone to implement and test a small stratum protocol extension called mining.extranonce.subscribe (as described here https://www.nicehash.com/software/#devs) into cgminer. Basically it is mainly only a copy-paste&test job since the implementation has already been done in sgminer and bfgminer.

(btw: we've already proposed this to ckolivas and other official cgminer developers, but they're too busy)

For us it is especially important for this feature to be implemented in cgminer since the majority of ASIC device manufacturers burns cgminer into their devices and in some cases it is hard to put a custom (patched) version later into such devices.

This feature has already been included, for example, in the latest sgminer. Search for "extranonce" here: https://github.com/nicehash/sgminer/commits/master or in official sgminer GIT source code at https://github.com/sgminer-dev/sgminer/commits/master, it has also been implemented in BFGMiner (https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=626361.msg8390976#msg8390976)

The job includes:

- fork latest https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer into your own github repo;
- add extranonce.subscription patch;
- change the way extranonce.subscription is handled; instead the current default=on (optional "--no-extranonce") you should add "--extranonce-subscribe" so that one must explicitly enable extranonce.subscription ("--extranonce-subscribe" : true) ... similar to the way it was added to BFGMiner (https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=626361.msg8390976#msg8390976);
- please do it in such a way (preferably in single commit or similarly) so that others would be able to pull it very easily into the various other cgminer forks with a single pull request;
- make win32 binaries and test the binaries against stratum.nicehash.com and stratum.westhash.com to make sure that extranonce.subscription is working and extranonce changes are received and used properly without disconnect from stratum servers.

Payment: 0.75 BTC when all the above is done (this is an easy job).

Thank you and let us know if you need any more info!
NiceHash

p.s.: one attempt to do this was already done by badman74, but this work hasn't been finished, nevertheless you can take a look at it here: https://github.com/badman74/cgminer/commits/master

BitDefender is reporting Sgminer.exe v5 that is being shared by nicehash as a Trojan. Some other anti-virus software are not detecting it yet.

https://www.westhash.com/software/sgminer-5.0-final-win32.zip

At first I thought it was faults positive, but after further research it defiantly has got a problem. It explains the strange mining results, missing hash and router log activity when using it.

Can someone please verify.

https://www.westhash.com/software/sgminer-5.0-badman74-mod-win32.zip
Isn't being reported as Trojan.

Hi,

We are not building our own binaries anymore, this is why https://www.westhash.com/software/sgminer-5.0-final-win32.zip binary was taken from http://cryptomining-blog.com/3590-updated-windows-binary-for-the-new-sgminer-5-0/ which is a very reliable source. However, it is quite possible that there are some issues with this binary since we haven't tested it extensively. We removed this link from the download page for now, please leave a comment on the cryptomining-blog.com to let them know that this binary has issues. We recommend you to use sgminer-5.0-badman74-mod-win32.zip which is verified and even has better performance.

We were and still are under heavy DDoS attack, but we've mitigated it for now. We had to tighten our protection which might also filter out some good miner, therefore I ask you for your patience before we completely solve this.

It is actually a classic extortion attack, we received this:

"hey

your stratum server is under attack. pay 1 btc @ 1NTvZanqQmJAEkbLrM9HaMCWopCGzYePTt and i will stop and you are free for lifetime of your site

don't reply coz i won't be able to read, just pay uniq btc address and attack stopes instantly"

from anonymousemail@anonymousemail.us, relayed by free.hostodon.me [85.17.249.89]

Anyway ... we are not negotiating with blackmailers, therefore we reported the incident to authorities.

How do you pause orders, if you are leasing hashpower on Nicehash? I've been watching the orders on X15, where the profitability fluctuates pretty strongly (from around .00025 to .0006, for example), and can do so in just a few minutes. It's apparent that many of the orders have the ability to "pause" and drop off the active orders list as profitability drops; then the moment profitability rises above their order price, the order shows back up again.

At first I thought it was just people manually canceling and relisting orders (paying the anti-spam penalty), but the % Completion for each order proves that this is not the case. It's the same order that is appearing and disappearing so that the order is never mining unprofitably. What's the trick to doing this? Does it cost anything to pause an order?

We already explained this a few posts back. Our service doesn't have any "pause order feature". However, this can be kinda simulated/automated by someone who has his own private pools (and operate them at the same time) and can disable a particular worker/port on their pools. It is also possible that some public pools allows changing workers details (e.g. worker password) via API which would also result in a similar behavior (disable an order by disabling a particular worker). We will allow and monitor this while legit users are using it in a moderate way via their own ingenuity, but will always place system security, fairness and stability in the first place and disable any potential harmful operation.

We have also implemented some advanced rules in favor of manual regular operation for users who manually operate orders:
1- All orders have a lifespan of 15 days. This prevents long-term placeholder orders.
2- Dead place-holder orders are degraded to the bottom of sub-list of same-priced orders. This rule goes in favor of new orders instead of dead place-holder orders.

We are trying to run a service that would best suit the majority of our users - those who wish to automate the usage with our API and other third-party tools and for those who just prefer to use it in a regular manual fashion. But we also value your feedback and any comments and ideas are always welcome!

Thanks for using NiceHash&WestHash!

So i went ahead and purchased a Ant miner ANTMINER S4 -B2 which says it pumps out 2th... I am not new to trading coins but i am new to mining so if anyone can suggest the best pool for me to join that would be great. I am also looking to purchase another miner.. I don't have to pay for electricity for now so i can setup a good amount of miners but just want to join the best pool for my miner if that matters and I do plan on adding more miners.

thanks in advance

Try NiceHash/WestHash pool - currently it pays out 17% more then regular Bitcoin mining: https://www.nicehash.com

Titan owners - I have a small request for you. I hear that Titans are having issues with some firmwares, therefore I would just like to ask some of you if you could point one of your Titans to our stratum (stratum.nicehash.com or stratum.westhash.com - https://www.nicehash.com/?p=gstarted#seller) for like 10 or 15 minutes and see if your Titan can actually reach full speed (as reported on Titan and as reported on our website)? We are using some stratum extensions I would like to see if KnC integrated them into their firmware ... thanks!

FYI: since the new firmware uses BFGMiner 4.8.0 you can try setting extranonce.subscribe extension/feature to get better efficiency on NiceHash/WestHash (put "#xnsub" at the end of the pool URI to enable extranonce extension: "stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com/#xnsub") ... nevertheless it might be a hard time for Titans to handle the work provide by our stratums since most of the time work is provided by orders for altcoins mining ... but it might be worth giving a try ... (also try  "--queue 0 --scan-time 1 --expiry 1" options).

Thx, I'll try that.
Any recommendation for 'Longpoll' and 'Retries' ?

'Longpoll' and 'Retries' are only relevant if you are connecting via getwork protocol (not stratum, for example, if you are connecting via proxy through getwork to the stratum endpoint), in this case these values should be as low as possible.

Hi,

It might be interesting for you to add our NiceHash.com and WestHash.com SHA256 pools to your list. It is not an ordinary pool (hashing power sell/buy service actually), but miners can use it just as simple as a regular pool (https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=gstarted).

Advantages:
- better payouts then regular SHA256 Bitcoin pools because hashing power buyers are willing to pay more for mining altcoins (https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=stats, https://www.westhash.com/index.jsp?p=stats)
- no dependence on luck or whatever since earning are assigned in real time while hashing power is being bought

Disadvantages (not really, but it should be mentioned anyway):
- might take some effort for you to properly configure miners to get 100% efficiency on some exotic miners (we are using some advanced stratum features which are unsupported in older miners with some particular versions of cgminer) ... usually it helps if you upgrade to latest firmware, play with some settings (--queue 0 --scan-time 1 --expiry 1), use BFGMiner 4.7.0 if you can (https://www.nicehash.com/software/#asic) or try with proxy (https://www.nicehash.com/docs/connect-via-proxy)

im testing a antminer s2 in your plataform, but i got around 320 gh rejected and i have a difficulty of 2048. How can i make it work betteR?

Try updating your firmware (older firmwares with older versions of cgminers doesn't work well due to extranonce bug in cgminer) or try to use stratum-proxy: https://www.nicehash.com/docs/connect-via-proxy

so whats your reply on what i posted eariler ?
what did u modified these days ?
how can u explain that my miners worked with no problems for months, and now we have issues for 2-3 days ?

Hi,

We haven't modified our stratum servers for quite some time. As we previously said - there seems to be some isolated issues for particular providers (keep in mind that NiceHash is a complex system, dependent of buyers orders, end-point target pools and their work being send towards providers, etc.). However, we're unable to fix these issues if we don't have the details of the affected providers (at least BTC address and you public IP address) - you can send this info to info@nicehash.com and we'll do our best to take a look at these issues. Thanks!

Hi,

Those of you who are having issues with random periodic  disconnects and/or higher rejects (and haven't seen these issues in the past days) please send us your BTC address, you public IP address and short description of your miner (manufacturer/model) to info@nicehash.com ... there are obviously some issues with only some particular miners and we'll try to look in these issues. Thanks!

Nicehash has been up and down like a yoyo for me

https://nicehash.com/?p=miners&a=0&d=2&addr=1BaDGfdZPpHvULtRzJ8ecBo1owv7Qaov6P

It's mostly been failing over to westhash ok. I'm in the UK but I'm beginning to wonders if I've got a problem with all of my rigs or if nicehash has a problem

for all of us it has been like that in the last 24 hours, and looks like staff aint doing nothing about it

Hi,

Hmm, this is definitely not an issue for all of the providers, for example, take a look at this one: https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=miners&a=0&addr=12DDodxUayd29HqkyA7WQD9wuYV9tv5MQU ... maybe there were some internet network issues between our location and some of the providers...
860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: where to rent? on: September 17, 2014, 03:59:50 PM
Any trusted site to rent GPU mining contract preferably nvidia and can run miner of ur choice?

"miner of ur choice" - so you would actually want to run a software of you choice? You can only do this if you find someone who is willing to give a full access to the rigs ... there is no automated service that would allow this.

BTW: if you're looking to get some massive hashing power without contracts you can also check NiceHash.com
