"Morning-doji" candle painting on the monthly with a 76% chance of taking us back to 6-7k in January.

.....and the sucker's rally begins

Yes, bitcoin's price has a habit of filling gaps and this seems no different. It would not indicate a V-bottom reversal to me unless it cracked above the descending triangle's floor at ~5700.

Ive been as bearish as the next guy. However, we should be given pause by the fact that everyone and his shoeshine boy are 100% certain that we're heading to $1,500-$2,500 and will endure 12+ months of crypto winter.

40% of the contestants in Mic's BAAKT game are choosing $6000 or above by February, so there's perhaps more optimism out there than you'd think.

Yeah... unh... I dunno. 'Round these parts, $1M in savings is kinda wage slave money. What with the widest accepted annual drawdown on the order of 4%, that be like $40K annual before taxes.

I added the plus for those who see it as chicken feed. We had a member here from Switzerland who said it wasn't even enough to wipe his arse with apparently.

I would appreciate advice on what sort of proofs/documents did they request you to "explain where it came from". It might get handy to get them all ready in advance.

From my experience it was just screenshots of my exchange accounts. It may be different for each person though.

That's why you also don't sell major amounts, such as more than 50 % because you will run out of bitcoin, if you sell too soon in order to sell more.

Exactly. The trick is to have a plan where you're still holding on to something even if it goes to a million. That way you can enjoy the spoils even if the incredible happens and Bitcoin takes over the world in a flash.
848  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 16, 2018, 07:02:32 PM
Thanks for the tip.  I've been sticking all manner of things in the hole and I've found that one of those little red plastic extenders for canned air fits perfectly but I can't properly eyeball 2.1/2.5mm when I place it against a mm ruler ;(

My calipers are saying 2.8mm OD for the red tube on a WD40, but then maybe mines thicker than yours...
849  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 16, 2018, 05:34:46 PM
Yup, that's a great advice. Only reinvest what you plan to reinvest and keep out what you plan to keep out. In "practical sense" only what you take out for good should be counted as profit taken. Other than that is just "trading".

If I've any other advice, it's read about rekt lottery winners. In the same way that reading the stories of rekt traders teaches us how to trade, reading their stories teaches us how to manage wealth. It's stupid how many of them blew their winnings and ended up in the same dead-end jobs. How ironic would it be to withdraw a million plus dollars from bitcoin and to then still end up as a wage slave?

Booze keeping me warm today, but its needed, cos i’m freezing Wink

Welcome to Britain. Hope you enjoy the rain.

I'd say though that people should decide on a price and proportion of coins that works for them and get rid no matter what the market looks like it might do once those targets are hit.

Yeah, don't back-pedal on your targets when the time comes and don't fall into the trap of reinvesting what you intend to keep out.

Having said that, Bitcoin is always one step ahead of the game...

3 months averaging 2 pages a week on WO, is my guess. Maybe 2020.

I'd be interested to see an analysis of the growth rate over time of the WO thread. Should be easy enough to chart by pulling off the timestamps.

$415 a pop right now. $7B market cap. AND up 12.5% on the day. In what way is that worse than ETC?

By way of the most relevant metric: ETC/ETH : BCH/BTC.
ETC $1B / ETH $28B
BCH $7B / BTC $96B

Nope. Still not seeing it.

You are comparing ends with starts. Here is an overlay I did between the two ratios. Daily ETCETH is from Polo and is yellow/blue, while daily BCHBTC is from Bitfinex and is red/green. Time scales are shifted so both align at the point they hard forked:

After a year, I thought it informative to produce an up-to-date version of this chart comparing BCH/BTC to ETC/ETH. Each has been adjusted so their start points are equal and for BCH data after the fork I have combined BCHSV/BTC+BCHABC/BTC ratios.

Despite getting pumped a little more over its lifespan, BCH is now exactly where ETC was on its journey.

So you are saying this will end being the biggest dump?

The current move does have me wondering if we're on the cusp of something epic. Maybe we need another bearwhale to put a bottom in for us.

855  Economy / Speculation / Re: BOTTOM? list? the real bottomcaller on: December 14, 2018, 09:36:38 PM
Now that we're in the $3K range, all this mega-bearish sentiment is getting to me. The crash from $6K happened so fast, and there hasn't been any reaction off the 200-week MA. I wouldn't be surprised to plunge right into the $2,000s here.

Then again, when I feel this type of fear, we're usually near a swing low. Lips sealed

Ikr? I would've expected some kind of reaction by now, but it just keeps plunging. It's almost like the bubble top in reverse.

Anyway, good luck with your guess. You've still got a decent safety buffer with only a few weeks left.
856  Economy / Speculation / Re: NEW BAKKT game on: December 14, 2018, 09:17:35 PM
$3490 , hope I am wrong

Nice tactic Wink

And until now, I still don't have any clue with this:
No prices behind the comma
Huh

It means guesses must be in whole dollars only with no fractions in cents. $4000.56 is invalid, you must choose either $4000 or $4001. In some countries the decimal fraction is denoted using a comma (e.g. 4000,56) instead of a dot.

Some wishful thinkin :

A 20 year bear run? No thanks Tongue

He just forgot about 80k BTC?
Holy shit...

From how he writes, I'm thinking Schumacher type event. Anyway...
859  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2018, 11:16:35 PM
They probably do. Once you get into "the game" you don't quit unless you played roulette and got burnt so hard that you can't get back even if you wanted to.

Like the guy who lost BTC7000 on Just-Dice back in the day?
860  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2018, 01:16:25 AM
I blame that Last of the V8's dude, TBH.

He just a no hat ho. You're better than that Bob, way better Angry

edit: And he has droopy balls too!
