861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take on Mt. Gox refund ? on: September 14, 2023, 06:05:08 AM
There were quite a few "butthurt" people that came out of that hack, so you can expect many of them to just dump their coins... after they get refunded for some of their losses.  Roll Eyes

I am not saying this in a bad way.... but I think I would also be "butthurt" if I lost those coins back then. Imagine the life changing things you could have done, if you did not lose those coins and if you sold it at say... $60 000+

By the way, the bonus amounts for inactive accounts ( inactive more than 1 month is already enough ) for pre and post monthly have been lowered yet again.

So originally on my platinum 2 account I always got like 22 or 25$ , 2 months ago this was lowered to 8$ and as of now we are standing at 5$, totally forgot to claim it.

So far for achieving milestones and the rewards stay forever.  Roll Eyes

It would be interesting to know what amount of money needs to be wagered for them to see that account as being "active" ....surely you cannot simply wager $100 and still get the "active" account bonus?

This will turn people into a hamster in a wheel, where you have to run to get nowhere.  Roll Eyes  I never get more money than I had to wager to get it.... so you are moving backwards all the time.... or just spinning the wheel.  Tongue
863  Economy / Economics / Re: Teaching My Nephews About Wealth Through the Game of Monopoly on: September 13, 2023, 06:11:39 AM
Your strategy might just work....

I was about 10 years old when my parents bought a board game that was developed by a local financial investment firm... We played that game almost every day for months at a time and it was very educational. Those were the building blocks and foundation of our financial education and it helped to shape our future.

We are now disciplined financial individuals with good spending and saving habits and even good Crypto investors and traders. I am grateful to my parents for buying that specific game.... it literally changed our lives.  Wink
864  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-09-08] BTC ETF: The quiet 800-pound gorilla in the room is about to roar on: September 13, 2023, 05:53:14 AM
The thing is.... do we want Institutional capital to enter Bitcoin and dominate the ownership of coins ...or do we want an more even distribution of coins to millions of people?

The Institutional Fiat rich investors will turn into Bitcoins whales and they will use those coins to manipulate the price.... they will dump large amounts of coins, which will cause huge price fluctuations and this will create too much price volatility for retail and businesses to use it as a Currency.

I vote for mass adoption of millions of individuals.... and not just a few institutions with the investment capital of a small group of super rich people.  Roll Eyes
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 13, 2023, 05:44:57 AM
One of the last big purchases I made using Bitcoin was an iPad. I think I paid 1.25 BTC for it. Looking back, that wasn’t my best purchase and I don’t even use it anymore. So I can attest that if you have some BTC, it isn’t always the best idea to dump it for a new shiny thing, although I’m about to make the same mistake with a Tesla.

The other side of the coin is this......

Imagine something really bad happened and you hoarded all your coins and this event caused the Crypto currency prices to collapse? You will then look back to the things that you could have bought with those coins and you would have had the same regrets.

I sold some of my coins to pay for my debt.... and I never looked back at what those coins are valued today. (may be once or twice  Grin)

The fact of the matter is this.... everyone should sell some coins and enjoy the reward of hoarding it for years... then do something constructive with that. Go on a nice holiday to an exotic location ....because those memories last forever.... or pay your debt and save on all the interest you would have had to pay in the future.

Enjoy your coins.... and always save some coins for the big Moon day!
866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much Bitcoin is needed to buy iPhone 15? on: September 13, 2023, 05:34:19 AM
The bigger question are.....

How does the person with the iPhone 4s feel now.... after they bought it for 162 BTC? Those bitcoins are now valued at $4 192 000 at todays price of $25 870 per bitcoin.  Roll Eyes

This is the reason why most people are hoarding their coins and using it as an investment option and not as a Currency. Would you spend your bitcoins buying an expensive phone...and after a few years, finding out that it would have been worth 800 times more.. than what it was ..when you bought the phone?  Huh Huh Tongue
867  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Wallet for Crypto Gaming and Gamers on: September 12, 2023, 06:10:04 AM
There are definitely a need for wallets, where the owner of the wallet can "sign" their own address... with their own private key. I have a lot of friends that signed up for faucets or casinos ..with wallets from custodial wallets, where they do not have access to the private keys.. and then they want to change the address, but the service wants them to sign the Bitcoin address as proof that they owned the current address... which they cannot do.  Huh

Will your wallet offer the owners of that address, the feature to sign their addresses?  Huh
868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Features on any Banking or Financial apps should be Removed on: September 12, 2023, 05:57:01 AM
Yea, in my country.... some Banks allow you to buy National Lottery tickets from their Banking Apps.... making it very easy for people to gamble directly from their Bank accounts.

I am one of those people who would totally forget to buy those tickets on a regular basis, but thanks to that App... I now buy tickets on a weekly basis. (it is pure evil)

Banks should keep you money safe, not encourage you to use it on gambling. I know some Banks allow you to switch off that option for religious reasons.  Roll Eyes
869  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit - be aware, i was lucky on: September 12, 2023, 05:47:16 AM
I think they offered you the money, thinking that you are a high roller and a good target for making a good profit. I also assume that you used a similar tactic with your Stake account and that you reached Diamond as a result of that.... and not because you played Slots the whole day.  Grin Grin Grin

In any way, well done .... most people would say that they deserved it.. for trying to pinch highrollers from other casinos. I do not blame them, because the competition for the gambling whales are tough.  Wink
870  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 12, 2023, 05:38:55 AM
I was told at a very early stage, that it is one thing to get a lot of money.. but a whole other thing to keep it. Just look at the 1000s of rags to riches stories, where you find someone that won a lot of money and before you know it... that person is living on the street again.

It takes a lot of self discipline not to over spend and to grow that money to beat inflation. You cannot simply leave your money in a Bank, because the inflation will gradually eat into your investment.

Building wealth is a continuous process of change and adaptation to the market conditions.  Wink
871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A very strange dust attack or an attempted robbery? on: September 12, 2023, 05:28:21 AM
It surely is a lot of trouble for the small chance that people will actually "copy&paste" the wrong address? In any way, since the "Clipboard" attacks, I am double checking all addresses I use, before I click on the "enter" button, because I know they try things similar to this in that hack.

It is sad that people will go so far and put in so much effort to steal people's money, when they have the skills to work for that money. I guess it is easier to steal, than making an honest living these days.  Angry
872  Economy / Gambling discussion / The Rugby World Cup - France on: September 11, 2023, 06:17:59 AM
I do not see any thread dedicated to the discussion of only the Rugby World Cup that are happening in France at the moment.

Let's use this thread to discuss the Rugby World Cup and your betting strategy for this tournament. I do not want us to discuss this in a mixed thread, where other Rugby tournaments are discussed.

It was a mixed bag of emotions with the winners and losers of the opening games, with the All Blacks losing against France in the opening game of the tournament on Friday.  Tongue

South Africa are the defending champion and they did not impress with their first half performance against Scotland. I was amazed with the good performance of England and also very impressed with the fast paced win from Ireland.

The betting in this tournament will be tough, because we have a lot of teams with very good chances of winning their matches with close margins.

Let's share betting strategies and discuss the upcoming games for the rest of the tournament.  Wink
873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with entropy (Chaos) on: September 11, 2023, 05:55:40 AM
Well, just based on my own understanding of how betting works, there should be no patterns at all... that would create any "waves"  Roll Eyes  In theory all bets are unique and it does not look at previous bets from the past. It should in theory take the "Client" seed and the Random number generator and the "Server" seed and then generate the outcome.

I have tested almost every "Dice" strategy that has been posted online and also some bots and none of them are giving any good results in the long run.... the casino always win over time.  Tongue
874  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-09-10] Forbes: Joe Biden, China And G20 Leaders Back ‘Swift’ Game-Changing on: September 11, 2023, 05:47:05 AM
This is no surprise, because we all know that the US are now a police state, like any other first world nation. Things have changed a lot since 11 September (today's date) .... and it will never be the same again.

Governments wants full control over the tracking of money and wealth and they also want to manipulate and control it's worth. They will use scare tactics like terrorism and money laundering excuses to achieve their goals, but all they want to do ..is to protect their power over people's money.  Roll Eyes
875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA'ing isnt a bad strategy on: September 11, 2023, 05:40:25 AM
A clever Bitcoin collector will combine the two options....

You do not simply buy on a regular basis, for the sake of buying.... you rather accumulate some Fiat savings and then buy bitcoins when the price are low. Why should you follow a DCA strategy that will force you to buy at regular intervals during high prices, when you can hoard your savings and buy at low prices.

The combined strategy will increase your profits, because you are buying bitcoins at low prices. (Also, sell bitcoins at high prices and then wait for it to dip to buy more coins)  Wink
876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin User Just Paid Half a Million Dollars for a Single Transaction on: September 11, 2023, 05:30:53 AM
Well, in most cases it might be a "human" error.. where they did not check the fee and they just clicked in a hurry. I hope this gets enough attention, so that the Pool or possibly individual who mined this, could refund the person or entity who paid this.

It has happened to me before, where I did not notice the high fee and I paid $1000 in miners fee... for a low transaction amount. I was in a hurry, so I just clicked the default options.  Angry
877  Economy / Economics / Re: Thundr gaming releases puzzle game to earn BTC via Nostr on: September 10, 2023, 10:14:17 AM
I promised myself never to play anything like Tetris again, after I played it for a few days and then could not sleep for days!! ... I kept seeing little Tetris blocks falling and I could not get to sleep.  Sad

I have friends who love Sudoku and Tetris ..so I will rather pass it onto them.... it's just not fun for me. I love the concept that they are using Bitcoin as a prize.... back in the day.. games like this was all over the place.  Tongue
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You find the keys for 15 [btc], but there is a catch, what do you do? on: September 10, 2023, 10:07:55 AM
I will do the right thing..... to return it to the owner of that address. I believe good deeds will be rewarded and that bad deeds will be punished by karma. I have several examples where I did the right thing and it turned out good for me...

I once returned someone's lost wallet and as I walked to my car, I received an SmS from my Bank and when I opened it, it showed that I won a small jackpot on the Lottery that I bought tickets to via the Banking App...  Grin Grin Grin
879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: September 10, 2023, 10:01:22 AM
I think I will also be a bit butthurt, if I could have access to $206 600 000 worth of Bitcoin and if I am denied to attempt to search for it.  Roll Eyes  This is a desperate person's attempt to scare the local municipality, in the hope that they will give in to his request.

I would have made them an offer to give them 50% of the money, if they gave me access and if I find it and were able to retrieve it. Like OP said.... most hard drives would have been destroyed by this time in such a harsh environment. (rust and corrosive elements)  Tongue
880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots with the purchase of bonus games - is it good or bad? on: September 09, 2023, 09:44:44 AM
The "Bonus buy" feature are targeted at the "lazy" people with the big pockets.... because you are not going to hit the huge Jackpot on every buy... but rather 1 out of say 10 or 20...... and in most cases, you would only make back the money that you spend on buying all of those bonuses.  Roll Eyes

The paid Streamers that are using casino money to play.... created this misconception that bonus buys are profitable, but they mostly lose a lot of money and then suddenly they hit a HUGE Jackpot and that is posted on social media for advertisement.  Roll Eyes  (Go check on Youtube on how many videos are posted on HUGE Jackpots that are hit.... but they seldom show the amount of times and the amount of money that are spend to win those jackpots.)  Roll Eyes
