Nice work!  On a practical note, decoding the six shapes seems to take too long in my opinion.  It just seems like too much work, which means users are not going to like it.
882  Other / Off-topic / Re: jquery document.ready on: November 15, 2011, 07:24:18 AM
if these are 100% equivalent, why on earth would anyone ever use the longer version?

$(document).ready(handler)
$(handler)

i really wonder.

As far as I know, nobody uses the longer version.  It *is* self-documenting though, which is a plus I guess.

Visit www.bitcoinica.com.  Play with it.  If you profit from it, you can remove the "novice" part of your handle.
Yes, in retrospect, that was a poor choice of a user name.

Why would apple reject bitcoin apps? Or is it only based on the quality of the apps and not on the subject matter?

Maybe encryption should be illegal if it is used to hide crimes from law enforcement. That doesn't mean it still can't be used. I carry a concealed weapon with a license, that doesn't mean I can just shoot people willy nilly.  Cheesy
We need a forum for CCW and bitcoin enthusiasts.

I would imagine many people who support Bitcoin also support gun rights.  Well at least in the US (and a handful of other countries) where such things still exist.

Economic freedom & freedom to exercise lawful and effective self defense.  It all boils down to freedom.
Agreed. Freedom FTW!

Fingers crossed.
Why? If I may ask?

I for one think that having this click to pay functionality is needed, even if it increases the possibility of malware attacks.

890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ozcoin Pooled Mining Pty Ltd Litecoin Promo 60LTC/block thats 20% more!!!! on: November 14, 2011, 09:51:05 PM
Until there are more pools or at least the "unknown" section on http://litecoin.kicks-ass.org/graphs/graphs.html becomes less than 40% of the network the 10BTC/round promotion will continue Smiley
Enjoy 20% more - bring your friends Smiley
I think you meant to say "10LTC/round"
891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 25btc/block soon? on: November 14, 2011, 09:45:31 PM
So the survival of Bitcoin seems to very much depend on the decline in block reward coinciding with an increase in transaction volume. Can anyone say why Satoshi chose the 2 year period as amount of time after which the block reward halves? Wouldn't it have been safer to choose, say 4 years, to allow more time for adoption before block rewards are lowered?
Perhaps it wouldn't even have to be hardcoded at 2 or 4 years-- why not have a dynamic formula based on number of transactions and amount of BTC being transferred (or something to that effect)?

Having said that, it's probably not a good idea to try and change it now.

893  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: jsoclbm : Browser based GPU miner (open source) on: November 14, 2011, 09:25:40 PM
Who in their right mind would want to use up buckets of CPU/GPU and mine at a much slower rate than any readily available mining program?

Those trying mining for the first time to see what it's like.  Those supporting the network in case of a 50+% attack.  Those wanting non-technical friends to contribute their idle GPUs to a charitable cause.  In each case, mining efficiency is less important than low set up overhead.  There are probably dozens of other use cases that I'm not creative enough to discover.

Do you need your browser to be set up a certain way? Does this product work with all browsers?

Cheers
Currently: Yes, No.

... and here's the drawing.  Quite elementary, but it was fun. Grin

Edit: That needs to be my avatar...
895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Auction... on: November 14, 2011, 08:20:33 PM
Ooops, you can stop drawing!

Intersango won't actually let me withdraw such a small amount to an address. Sorry, it's what I had left from a transaction and assumed it would let me.

 Embarrassed

I'll send it to you when I next buy some bitcoin  Grin
I already started drawing, so I'll post it anyway.  Don't worry about the bitpennies, not a big deal! Smiley
896  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: November 14, 2011, 08:18:05 PM
They are being extorted by the owner of the website "casascius dot net", which was a scam website a few days back. They got to scam several people already.

What help would you be able to give that can't be done in a direct email to casascius?
Perhaps he's the owner of .net version of the domain?
I don't need to prove anything. Contact him directly if you won't let me in. The last thing I want is to get questioned just for trying to help.

I apologize for my comment. I guess it was uncalled for.

No, your comment wasn't uncalled for. "Retired" saying they want whitelisted for a vague reason like wanting to "help" someone and then avoiding a direct question about what help just makes it look more like bullshit if you ask me.

If "Retired" had any information that would help, he'd email it first. Unless he's the scammer, it's obvious he just wants to be a part of the conversation. Wanting to be a part of a conversation is hardly a reason to whitelist.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.

898  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: November 14, 2011, 08:02:48 PM
I guess I am an early adopter as I cpu mined thousands of bitcoin back in early 2010.
I'm jealous.  I wish I had heard of bitcoin earlier.
899  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I can't post anywhere this is bs. on: November 14, 2011, 07:55:20 PM

900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: StrongCoin.com just published a method to generate off-line transactions on: November 14, 2011, 07:54:20 PM
64 bit.

The problem with it not working when adding a tx fee seems to affect all browsers.

It would be awesome if you could build a transaction from more than one private key (to be able to send the sum of the BTC value of all).
