I was wondering the same thing.

you can store as many as you want with just a few bits. all you need is a private key, or seed.

I don't think this author knows what he is talking about. A virus went around awhile ago that routed traffic through a malicious DNS. The US govt replaced the DNS server with their own. They recently turned this server off. I don't understand why people think this is a conspiracy or some sort of internet kill switch... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alureonhttp://www.dcwg.org/That's what it was.

To really become mainstream, a bitcoin banking system will have to be developed. Bitcoin banks offering bitcoin loans, bitcoin savings accounts, investing bitcoin in various markets, bitcoin checking accounts, bitcoin debit cards, bitcoin credit cards, etc. Is that what you mean by (working in parallel with banks)?
And futures! I think the surface of bitcoin's potential is just now getting scratched. Even if bitcoin only becomes the micropayment currenct of choice (which it will, save another market frenzy) and nothing more, it is still here to stay. Personally, I'd rather be paid in BTC thatn USD, I believe in it that strongly.

I am aware, however, of a virus that is so widespread that when the govt caught the operator, the servers are maintained by the government temporarily. I am also aware that the govt will issue a timeline on the maintenance of these computers.
Even without the conspiracy, the information that there is an openly government-maintained botnet should be worrisome. Good point.

a couple of brief googlings rewarded me no recent articles on the subject.
I am aware, however, of a virus that is so widespread that when the govt caught the operator, the servers were subsequently maintained by the government temporarily. I am also aware that the govt will issue a timeline on the maintenance of these computers.
If this article is refering to the above scenario, it sounds to me like a conspiracy theory. Granted, occasionally those are needed.

I was under the impression that they are only able to afford production because of all the pre-orders.

Garrett,
I was in your position just two weeks ago. I ended up taking out a small loan at 3% APR from the local bank. I needed a cosigner, and the title has a lien. I too thought about how awesome it would be to pay for a car with a BTC loan.
I'm interested to see how this pans out!

lol this explains a lot: I agree, I think we should be done with the bitcoin community. They are obviously a bunch of fools, and embrace the goodness that is Litecoin. Infact, we should probably integrate a feature in the litecoin client where it blocks anyone who has Bitcoin running or owns any bitcoin addresses! Cryptowar for the future!!! Rawr! Are you 11? haha no, why? Are you a pedophile? Not you...
