I think that if you want a coin to be a succes you should focus on consumers, not miners. Miners don't add much value ( put money into it ). If people buy a few hundred dollars of your coin because they have a real life use for it.... isn't that 100x more diserable ?

In my opnion, the only thing that makes a coin legitimate is if it has use or not. This is what any coin should focus on. Mainstream doesn't care about innovation, mainstream doesn't care about pre-mines.
They don't understand, all they want is something they can use to make or save money.

Here's another contribution of mine ; make the name of short. Pronounceable. Try saying "MarieCurieCoin" a few times in a row. Do you think it'll catch on ?

Some people like to reserve a spot for something witty they came up with in hindsight, to look smart, thus increasing their e-penis.

Another reason I can think of is a spot on the first page so they can get more attention to an advert or promotion they plan to do later.

Other people have accounts that they use for the sole reason of slandering competing coins. The reserve a spot to put a negative post there later, when they have some frustrations to vent or found some "dirt" they can use.

One thing is for sure, 99% of the time a reserved spot is pure selfishness, if it's not made by the OP himself.

That pool is down too. I'm mining solo but really not find a lot of blocks anymore. 1 every three hours or so...

Well I think that simply launching a new coin yourself with " borrowed concepts " from IFC would be more stylish.

I've never heard of any real trojans or viruses in wallet releases yet. It seems walletstealers in coin.exes are a myth, propagated by false negatives from antivirus software.
