881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoin what you buy today ? on: May 16, 2016, 02:56:59 AM

I want to know Grin Grin Grin

The GoldCoin (GLD) community has renewed vitality and is currently entertaining a partnership with a precious metals startup.

https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3581.0

The market has no clue what is going on and the coin is highly undervalued at this time.

~~

So obviously -- today I bought GoldCoin (GLD) https://c-cex.com/?p=gld-btc
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will transaction fees be like once no more BTC can be mined? on: May 16, 2016, 01:55:53 AM
Will they be high?

By that time I doubt we'll still be using PoW so it's very difficult to predict how the forks will play out.

If the consensus decision making process can somehow be "restored and maintained", I feel whatever the solution it is likely to be fair.

883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to choose a better name for Bitcoin, what would it be? on: May 16, 2016, 01:51:01 AM
Well that would not be accepted!
You must choose a new name. MicroGuy, what would it be? Smiley

Hmmm. Tongue

Okay. I choose "BitCash".  Cheesy
884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to choose a better name for Bitcoin, what would it be? on: May 16, 2016, 01:37:18 AM
Say the Bitcoin community would ask you for a new name;  a new name must be chosen for Bitcoin.

What would be your proposal?

I think bitcoin is the best name for the original cryptocurrency! Cheesy
885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Upcoming Altcoins for a Newbie on: May 15, 2016, 08:31:35 PM
Hi all,

I'm Tony and I have been following the forums for sometime and never really spoke up until now! I love the wealth of knowledge I can find on here! For that I thank you!

I do want to pick your brains though, If I may:

Apart from Litecoin, Etheriuem etc... What is a new upcoming Altcoin I should start looking at? I am looking at taking a slight risk on a new coin but ideally I would like something that is not made by those shitty Coin making sites!

All recommendations would be amazing!

Thank you in advance

Tony

Instead of looking at new coins, I suggest you look at aged coins with underlying fundamentals not yet understood by the market. With a genesis timestamp of May 14th, 2013, there are only a handful for coins older than GoldCoin (GLD), and these mature coins are quietly making a comeback!

And taking into consideration the Lindy Effect, you can safely assume these currencies have the greatest chance of continued survival. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindy_effect

Did you know that GoldCoin is working with a precious metals company to leverage its blockchain? https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3581.0

A new era is underway in the altcoin sector whereby companies are beginning to understand the power of leveraging mature blockchains. By utilizing existing blockchain infrastructure, they are able to avoid the costs of implementing private internal solutions.

You can obtain GoldCoin (GLD) here: https://c-cex.com/?p=gld-btc

A handful of core players control this forum, the bitcoin reddit, the alert keys, the github, and bitcoin.org. <<< this equals bitcoin consensus
887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos: “Bitcoins Belonging to Satoshi Should Be Destroyed” on: May 15, 2016, 02:24:49 PM
No blacklisting coins, no reversing transactions or we're no better than paypal.

Agreed. I think it would set a dangerous precedent if core began locking or destroying old coins.

But I'm unsure how anyone could stop them considering their current level of power, authority, and code control.

888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Like ETHEREUM? on: May 15, 2016, 04:21:02 AM
With everything that's happening, do you like the Ethereum project and its derivates, slock.it and DAO?

Yes, or No?

I love to see people following their passion. I like the passionate people behind Ethereum, its derivates, slock.it and DAO.

If Satoshi Nakamoto were to become a candidate in the 2016 presidential race -- could he win?

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Alt Coin on: May 10, 2016, 04:38:18 AM
New to this website and this is my first post.  I am looking for a programer(s) that can work with us in cloning and then customize us a new alt coin with all the things that go along with it -- wallet, apps, and so forth.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Thank you.

This is a bad idea. I suggest finding an existing cryptocurrency that matches your goals and contributing to its development.  Cheesy

in which altcoin should i invest?
thanks!

In my view, Goldcoin (GLD) has all the right ingredients to challenge Bitcoin for the top position sometime this decade.

Here's the quick and easy answer:

895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin already using too much power by 2020? on: April 05, 2016, 03:42:46 PM
I just stumbled upon this article that claims Bitcoin could be consuming as much energy as Denmark by 2020  Shocked Since I gave up mining in 2014, I've almost forgotten just how much electricity goes into making Bitcoins. This got me wondering whether the devs are already working on a solution to this problem. Anyone knows what the plan is?

http://inhabitat.com/power-hungry-bitcoin-could-consume-as-much-energy-as-denmark-by-2020/

We are very close to solving this problem. The new scheme basically randomizes the block reward and equalizes the playing field. Wink

Let's make cryptocurrency great again!
896  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: March 19, 2016, 05:26:53 PM
If world history is any indication, it will be a bitcoin competitor that ultimately penetrates the mainstream psyche. I feel 100x returns will only be found there moving forward.

Find a 'block-stream proof' (co-opt condom wearing) alternative with a strong community and you (and your bitcoins) will be headed in the right direction!  Kiss
897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cost of maintenance of Bitcoin Network absurdly cheap on: March 16, 2016, 04:45:20 AM
I read this great quote today, "In their introductory white paper, Danezis and Meiklejohn argue that the bitcoin network suffers from a scalability problem tied to its computationally intensive mining process, by which energy is expended to secure a reliable ledger of transactions."

Do these academics have any idea what it costs to keep the lights on for our current central bank authorities from their briefcases, to their choreographed press releases to their board room meetings and meet-ups, to the banks that administer their bidding and to all of the millions of personnel around the World.  I would just wildly estimate it to be about $500M - $1B per day verses Bitcoins $16M per day.

So technically being 2% or less the size of the current framework - " is not scalable" evidently.

The bitcoin network is growing to become an energy behemoth of apocalyptic proportions. If cryptocurrencies overtake fiat money (and I believe they will), it will become the social responsibility of these communities to make Satoshi's protocol more eco-friendly.

I lived through the unshackling of information by the Internet. As I reach the end of my lifetime, it will be my great honor to witness the unshackling of money by this great digital currency revolution.

But as we free the fiat slaves from their monetary bondage, it is essential that we also address the energy sucking reality of the POW lottery beast.
898  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donald Trump & Bitcoin on: March 13, 2016, 04:23:18 AM
Would it make any difference if Mr. Trump supports it or not?

If the future president of the free world were to support bitcoin, yes! It would make a difference. Duh. lol

The main thing that people don't understand is the significance and importance of what Satoshi wanted to achieve. The internet unshackled information, but it was Satoshi that began the quest to unshackle money. He passed the torch to Gavin, then Gavin dropped the ball.

But Satoshi understood it wasn't just about bitcoin, it was about the invention. He knew that bitcoin could fail, but he had a fail-safe already in mind. He was like a god creator. And every single cryptocurrency that follows him is a direct descendant of his child. I guess you can think of altcoins as his grandchildren.

And this great evolution of money will continue whether Trump supports it or not, just like the internet evolved with hardly a mention. To be honest, it would be of greater benefit to Trump to learn of bitcoin and the coming crypto generation, than any benefit a Trump endorsement would bring to us.

899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ethereum surpass Bitcoin in market cap in the next 3 years? on: March 13, 2016, 03:05:58 AM
Would like to here your thoughts on this.

How about in 3 weeks? lol

What we're all witnessing here is a competition with hundreds of strong and competent contestants. Bitcoin is near death. Satoshi Nakamoto handed over the reins to Gavin who choked like hell. He turned the git keys over, whimpered away to MIT, and now bitcoin Core is fully controlled by hostile influences.

Let's get serious and complete the unfinished work of Nakamoto. As human beings, we have a responsibility to get this right. Let's all make a currency immune to corporate co-opting, subversion, and centralized control. Let's all work together to make money the way Satoshi intended.

Will ETH surpass Bitcoin marketcap in 3 years? I'm not even sure that Bitcoin will survive that long.

900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: To everyone converting BTC to ETH on: March 05, 2016, 06:33:35 PM
p.s. Alt coin trading is a gambling. If u wanna test your luck on some coin under pump, its fine. But, make sure to come back to BTC, when u have made enough, otherwise u'll lose all and have to be a mute spectator while the next alt wave hits. GooD Luck Wink

Rarely does the contender with first-mover advantage maintain his/her leading position. Add that to the fact that core is killing bitcoin by failing to act in a timely manner to address the block size issue.

This is a competition and bitcoin is being left behind. For some reason, the community continues to allow its core developers to be bought and paid for, controlled like semi-puppets filled with conflicting intentions. If Satoshi were here you'd have 2MB blocks and no corporations co-opting core.

I think ETH is probably overbought at the moment and will pull back soon, but other coins are gaining strength and are strong and vital competitors. Unless bitcoin can address its current growing pains by shaking off the corporate puppet masters, expect its reign as king to enter the final chapter.
