901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why CureCoin Is Something Different on: August 09, 2013, 08:51:21 PM
Welcome new scamcoin!

If you want to present that opinion, can you back it up?
its centralized and therefor insecure, and you take a 10% cut the money mined.

Most of the 10% goes back into the community directly, the rest goes for paying for services that CureCoin needs, such as servers. Centralization will fade out as adoption occurs, and only some payout is semi-centralized, the rest is distributed in decentralized mining. Smiley
liar(or you don't understand the technology behind your own currency, and you fail)

For starters, I'm not developing the currency. But what exactly am I lying about? The 10%? 30% of that (at least) will go into buying NVidia hardware for giveaways to folders, the rest is carefully budgeted out, I can pull up the list if you would like.

There are two main areas of centralization that this currency will have at launch: pool for folding rewards, and the research projects the rewards are based on. The 2nd centralization point will disperse as more and more projects are supported by curecoin, so if F@H servers go down or are compromised, it has a much smaller impact on the coin. Additionally, the first type of centralization (pool for distributing coins) is a tough one to solve, but the dev is thinking about systems such as trusted pools, perhaps run through people that do stuff such as escrow and are trusted community members, and creating a system where they would do large parts of the folding distribution.

does this project reward folders that find more potential solutions to medical problems more than it rewards folders that find fewer potential medical solutions?

it appears that the income is distributed not by their contribution to the medical industry, but by their contribution to the folding network. is that right?

It's simply based on the amount of 'points' they receive, which is the amount of raw processing they have done. Nothing is weighed by either importance, or benefit to any industries. Smiley

Thanks Vorksholk for this well informed post!

Would you mind if I use this on my website? I will mention you and link back.

if there's something in it for miners besides 'feeling good', i would gladly.

making me 'feel good' isn't gonna pay my bills, so without any reward, not a chancei n hell.

The currency will be split 45/45/10, with 45 going to miners, 45 going to folders, and 10 going towards supporting the network infrastructure, improving the coin, giving away hardware to folders to increase folding rates, pay for servers, etc. Smiley So folders will get money. That's why I'm so excited xD

Vorksholk explains things much clearer than i do...  Grin

- edit - i feel a bit silly for my lack of response.  i did start a technical rant until i got 2 or 4 pages into skimming his previous posts.  so i erased it due to knowing this particular user knows nothing about crypto.

this is pretty user friendly explanation of the complexity of curecoin. Is Vorksholk the hidden Satoshi mind behind curecoin?Huh mystery....

yep, im sure of it, vorksholk is one of the mystery dev helping to build curecoin. he knows too much Tongue

Mystery dev, doesn't that sound fun? Heh, I wish my C skills were that good.

916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CureCoin Team: Rank 1,200 is less than 12 hours away! on: August 09, 2013, 12:52:23 AM
At position 1,200 sits a team with 9,135,000 points, while we have 8,786,803 points. We earned 1,000,000 points in the past day, and we only need less than 500,000 to beat rank 1,200. Within a week at this pace, we will be somewhere in the top 800-900 teams, and within a month, we'll easily be in the top 500 at this rate. Smiley
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Now Cure This] Team CureCoin Currently FASTER than Team INTEL and PandeLabs on: August 08, 2013, 06:03:59 PM
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=&srt=5

48th place in points for the current day across the entire folding network.

We have made a bigger space between us and Pande Labs / team intel

Team reddit will make a good next target  Wink

Obviously these teams have more total points than us because they have been folding for up to 13 years ( fah was one of the first dcn). we are in the top 100 for all categories of performance except for total points.

Team reddit is aroud 3,000,000 PPD, and an ATi card that generates 550kH/s scrypt mining is capable of 82,000 PPD. We just need around 24 more 7950s! Total points is around the only obstacle, but in due time we'll make good work of that. Cheers! Smiley
918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Curecoin folding@home team - 2000 DGC in Bounty 7/30/13 on: August 08, 2013, 05:48:29 PM
Just a quick question, since I am very interested in your project.

is there a Curecoin wallet somewhere?  And do you scrypt mine Curecoins as well as join the Folding@home team?  Or do you pay out with various other cryptocurrencies for Folding work being completed?  In which case, what wallets will I need to get set up, looks like some of the bounties have been paid in various currencies.

Lastly, will a small folder like me, who won't be able to win any races to X million points be able to get any rewards for folding?

Unfortunately there is not curecoin wallet yet, that's coming soon though for the beta release Smiley

Curecoins are 'mined' with scrypt, however 45% of the coins are awarded to the person who mined the block (or the pool that did so), while 45% go to a pool that distributes them to the folders based on how much folding power per day they are running/have. The main bounty that I'm reaching for right now is Digitalcoins, the pool pays out everyone in Globalcoins, there was a primecoin bounty for something, and I think there was something to do with a smattering of FreiCoins, though I'm not so sure about that one anymore, it might have been something else.

Right now, you'd probably just about break even with electricity (depending on your electric rate), because of the Globalcoins everyone receives for folding. However, once CureCoin is released, it's extremely likely that you will be able to make some good profit, just like small-time scrypt miners can do nowadays. The bounties are the high-hanging fruit right now, but soon CureCoin will be a pretty even playing field, and you can either mine or fold to make pay for electricity and then some. Smiley

looks like you are pulling around 300k a day? is that right?

I'm pulling around 700,000 PPD a day, I think.
920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why CureCoin Is Something Different on: August 08, 2013, 04:27:27 PM
It seems like a good project. However, will it have any value, that's the question. Don't get me wrong this is a good idea and it looks like some sort of work went into this unlike other knockoff coins.

The value that a coin has is the value that people put into the coin. If the community can do a good job of making businesses accept CureCoin, I can see it holding quite some value. We'll have to wait and see, but I have high hopes for it Smiley
