In an elite tournament like the UCL, every opponent should not be underestimated because all teams will continue to exert their strength when competing there. As it stands now, Real Sociedad may not be a team that can pose a serious threat to PSG, but the team could also be stronger in the UCL because now all teams have had more time to change their playing patterns. Moreover, the match for both of them is still a long time away so it is a little less feasible if judged from now on.
It's indeed unwise to underestimate them based on their current form, because teams can evolve and strengthen their performance in the UCL. Villareal once reached the semi-final in 2006 when people, at the time, barely know their existence. The UCL features some of the best football clubs in the world, and each team has earned its place through rigorous qualification processes. Underestimating any opponent could lead to complacency, and in football, unexpected outcomes are not uncommon.

Real Sociedad may not currently pose a serious threat to PSG, but Their can use 'the underdawg spirit' to refine their playing patterns, address weaknesses, fight for something big with nothing to lose. The temporal factor is significant because it allows teams to adapt, strategize, and possibly strengthen their squads through player development. It cautions against making premature judgments based on current form without considering the potential changes that may occur before the actual match takes place.

I wonder why Manchester United always get expensive players but perform poorly. Is this because of the failure of their talent scouts to find new stars or because of some reason, such as the club board being interested in the proposal offered by the player's agent. I have no problem buying expensive players if they are a valuable investment asset in the future. For example, I remember when Liverpool made Van Dijk the most expensive defender in the English league and I questioned their reasons at that time but in the end he became one of the best defenders in the world today.
I think the problem is the environment in the club, the spirit of the club's culture has been distorted by pure profesionalism. The influence of player agents on the club's decision-making plays a role. If the club board is swayed by financial incentives or pressures from agents, it could lead to the acquisition of players based on reasons other than their footballing prowess and suitability for the team.

Van Dijk is a prime example that proves the success of making strategic and expensive signings when the player turns out to be a valuable asset and significantly enhances the team's performance. This suggests that, when done judiciously, spending on high-priced players can indeed be a wise investment.
903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves? on: December 27, 2023, 10:54:59 PM
...
I know that it's said that you should gamble the amount that you can afford to loose, but will you call it a true fun when you know that there's a higher probability of losing your bet?
But there's fun in trying to beat the odds... Gambling with the amount we can afford to lose is exactly that, we know that we are playing against the odds and we need to be ready to lose, but there's that chance, sometimes a tiny one, that we can pull it off and make some profit.

So it's not a complete lie that we gamble for fun, we gamble and we are trying to win of course, we would like to win as big as possible... but a real gambler knows that winning is not always possible and that gambling is full of ups and downs. So we need to enjoy the process, up or down we have fun chasing the big prize! Good luck all the players! Smiley
The enjoyment indeed stems from the thrill of the chase with acknowledging the ups and downs that come with it. The responsible approach sets the foundation for an enjoyable experience, because it mitigates the potential negative consequences of financial losses. This is how a gambler should be.

Knowing that winning is not always possible demonstrates a realistic understanding of the nature of gambling. This recognition distinguishes true gamblers from those who may approach the activity with unrealistic expectations of consistent success. Enjoying the process is the journey to fulfill the enjoyment that comes from participating in the activity rather than solely focusing on the end result.

That's right, they all have the rights to stop someone they think are suspicious and will cause a ruckus. But I think that each customer that they see will be given time to be observed before they do any action like kicking him outside the premises or will keep him inside and continue to gamble. Usually, if these people that don't dress well have got mone and it's seen at the entrance or have been checked, they'll just allow these people to enjoy their day and win or lose, they'll still get that person's money through losing their games.
It's indeed wrong to make hasty judgments based solely on appearances. Inclusive approach should be adopted that allows people a chance to demonstrate their behavior and intentions. It's important to maintain a secure and orderly environment within establishments. Security measures are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of both customers and staff. Addressing potentially disruptive behavior is a valid concern, and intervention may be necessary in certain situations.

The contention that individuals who may not dress well should still be allowed to enjoy their time and engage in activities like gambling underscores the principle of fairness and non-discrimination. Making assumptions about someone's character solely based on their attire can lead to unfair treatment and exclusion. The financial capacity or the ability to engage in the activities offered by the establishment should be a primary consideration.

It is hard to quit gambling and it's also not hard to quit. What determines that is the gambling personal understanding of gambling as a whole because it was created as a means of earning but as a chance or probability of earning with an unguaranteed ratio.
Because as long as a gambler can accept that no matter the huge chance of winning they have, the house will always win. They will not have to build all their hope on gambling.
This challenge defines the strength of the individual's character. Gambling is designed as a form of entertainment that involves a chance or probability of winning which is often with an unguaranteed ratio. The key to quitting may lie in the ability to recognize and accept the inherent dynamics of the activity. The thrill of taking risks and the excitement of winning can create a psychological attachment that makes it hard for gamblers to step away. Recognizing that the house always has an advantage is a fundamental aspect of understanding the nature of gambling.

Casinos and other gambling establishments are designed to be profitable, and the odds are intentionally set to ensure a net gain for the house over time. Accepting this reality can help gamblers recalibrate their expectations and detach their hopes from the notion that sustained profits are guaranteed. When gamblers understand that the probability of financial loss is significant, even in the face of occasional wins, they may be more inclined to approach gambling as a form of entertainment rather than a reliable source of income.

we can't get rid of the feeling of being disappointments when we lose in something but if we look back, we had fun while doing it, it's just that we really expect something so when the thing we expect doesn't happen, it ends up in sadness, failures and self pity. Gambling is made for entertainment and one way of gaining profits, It has a double purpose to a person and It's up to you what will you prefer to prioritize? Gaining profit or having fun?
No expectation leass to nothing to lose, this applies here. Losing can lead to disappointment is a realistic aspect of any competitive or uncertain activity. It's a natural human response to feel upset when expectations are not met, especially when one invests time, effort, or resources into something with the hope of achieving a desired outcome. This emotional response is not exclusive to gambling but extends to various aspects of life where expectations play a role.

But then, When you emphasize the enjoyment deriving from the activity, the positive experiences and fun had during the process should not be overlooked. This viewpoint aligns with the idea that the journey can be as valuable as the destination. In the context of gambling, this could include the thrill of uncertainty, the social aspect of the activity, and the overall entertainment value. Some may see gambling primarily as a form of entertainment, similar to going to a movie or a concert, while others may view it as an opportunity for financial gain.

Real Sociedad performed very well in every match of the Champions League group stage. Real Sociedad has not lost a single match. The team has won three and drawn three matches. However, Sociedad's overall condition is not good this season. We haven't seen a good performance from Real Sociedad in La Liga. However, they lost only three matches. Real Sociedad aim to secure 1 point with a draw. This is why it is not going to be very easy for PSG to win against Sociedad. But the first leg match is PSG's home match. If PSG can secure 3 points in the home match, it will be easy for them to qualify for the quarter finals. PSG's defense must be strong if they want to win against Sociedad.
The inexperience of Real Sociedad having more competitions to play makes them not able to maintain their form in all competitions. But I dont think their form in La Liga is too bad for a Sociedad calibre team. This raises interesting dynamics. While Real Sociedad has only lost three matches in La Liga, the team's overall condition may not be as strong as their Champions League form suggests. Their emphasis on targeting a point indicates a cautious approach, especially considering the tough competition in the league.

Facing PSG in the first leg at PSG's home ground is the toughest challenge for Sociedad. PSG as a top-tier team with a great attacking power can potentially exploit any defensive vulnerabilities. Real Sociedad's strategy of aiming for draws may find itself tested against a team like PSG who is seeking decisive wins while playing at home. While Real Sociedad has proven to be a tough opponent in the Champions League, PSG's stature and quality players could make a difference, especially in their home environment which is known so loud.

I completely lost hope and got disappointed in Galatasaray after that I saw them lose and crash out of the Champions League group stage game against their opponent team contender Copenhagen, And which they were the next available team to have qualified as Man Utd weren't inform. I kind of doubt if they will progress in this side of competition because they lack the team strength to compete with other major teams in this Europa cup, where we do have teams such as Bayern Leverkusen and Liverpool present in the competition and just to mention a few plus other major teams to contest with.
Galatasaray has never been a tough team when they play away games. Lost to Copenhagen is something disappointed, because they were expected to progress to next round after the crach of Manchester United. Europa League is also an intense competition that will provide some tough teams. Doubting Galatasaray in this competition is also reasonable after the failure in Champions League Group stage which which was not harder than Europa League Knock Out stage.

Galatasaray need to regroup and refocus. They have to find solutions on facing away games. They need to revive the spirit and resilience of a team to come to the forefront during knockout rounds. It's a fresh start, and the unpredictability of football means that anything can happen. The journey in the Europa League might bring about moments of redemption and excitement.

I don’t think anyone will doubt Xavi after what he did in the Bundesliga. He is still undefeated in the Bundesliga and the only team to stay undefeated in Europe's top leagues. It is a record breaker in the Bundesliga. But here is the thing, I don't think he is ready yet to manage big teams with high expectations such as Chelsea and Manchester United. The expectations are bigger there and the fans are really crazy as well. He needs a few more years with mid tier teams before he can join big teams.

Chelsea and Manchester United both need a change in coaching staff but I don't Xabi is the right fit for both of them.
I think Xabi Alonso is ready to take a job at a big club after showcasing his managerial capabilities. But He is just not ready to manage a club who have too much challenge like Chelsea and Manchester United. If he wants to move, he needs to find a club that already have a right direction and a good environment like Real Madrid or Milan. Chelsea and Manchester United shouldnt considerations for him, if he want to have a good managerial career, because there are too big concern for him to handle.

The pressure to succeed at the highest level is immense, and adapting to the intense scrutiny, media attention, and the need for immediate results requires a seasoned managerial approach. While Xabi Alonso has had a promising start, the transition from managing mid-tier teams to the high-stakes environment of big clubs is a significant leap. But Additional years of experience could provide him with a more comprehensive understanding of the managerial intricacies required at the top level.

It reminds me with arsenal once it was not become a spender club like this time. Im really missing that golden time when arsen wnger was still there. Brighton is a club that was focusing to develop the players instead of buying the players with high price.
The club is just playing like dortmund, brighton bought the cheap player then club develop it to be sold for the high price like when caicedo joined chelsea. Brighton was a club that focuses on the business instead of getting the trophy.
You will never see brighton to be one of top spender club in the premier league caused by this is not the main target owned by brighton. the club is willing to be profitable club.
The era when clubs focused on developing players rather than splurging on high-priced transfers does evoke a sense of nostalgia for many football fans. The approach of developing and nurturing talent often involves scouting and acquiring players at a reasonable cost that refines their skills within the club, and then potentially selling them at a higher value. The example of Caicedo joining Chelsea is indicative of this business-oriented model.

In an era where many top clubs prioritize immediate success through big-money transfers, Brighton's focus on long-term sustainability and profitability is a strategy that has its merits, fostering financial stability and allowing the club to operate within its means. Brighton's approach has its own set of goals, perhaps focusing on building a strong foundation and securing financial stability. In the ever-evolving landscape of football, where spending has become a norm, clubs like Brighton offer a refreshing alternative that emphasizes a balanced and sustainable business model over immediate success on the pitch.

I see your point on Atletico Madrid. They're definitely improving. Barca's lapse has opened a door for them. How about Girona - what a story? Climbing to second is difficult. They appeared suddenly, and now everyone is watching them.

Madrid is usually difficult to beat. They somehow win games in the final minutes, like that one against Alaves. So Atletico's got it tough.
Yeah truly the inability for Barcelona to perform very well on this season la Liga has greatly paved way for Atletico Madrid on the table because if it was when Barcelona was in a good form they would have been leading on the table already, and also with the current state of Real Madrid on the table it would have been very difficult for them to drop down but however considering there players on a serious injuries I doubt if real Madrid can last long on that table because the injured players are also one of there key players, so there is every chances that there performance will be weakened, so perhaps Girona still has an opportunity to regain back there previous position.
This is what competition means. One side's struggle give advantage to others, rinse and repeat. I think the competition at the top having a peak of competitiveness, because the sides having advantage are showing potential struggles like Madrid having injuries issues, and the sides having struggles are showing potential improvements like Atletico.

Key players often play pivotal roles in shaping a team's strategy, and their absence can disrupt the balance and effectiveness on the field. Considering this, it opens up opportunities for other teams, like Girona. Football is dynamic, and the fortunes of teams can change swiftly based on injuries, form, and various other factors. But Real Madrid is known for its depth and resilience. Even in the face of injuries, they have a squad with quality players who can step up and fill the gaps. The management and coaching staff will likely strategize to overcome the challenges posed by the absence of key players.

I don’t think we can say clearly who can win the Bundesliga right now, okay!. I mean Leverkusen is looking super consistent with their performance. But you know the biggest hurdle for them is that Bayern Munich is who is on the chase and they are only 1 point behind. To get ahead Leverkusen needs to fumble only in 1 match so that Bayern Munich can get ahead. It is still a 50-50.  The question is can Leverkusen keep their consistency? If they can, there is no one stopping them.
No one can say who can win the Bundesliga right now when the fact there is only one point gap in the title race. The consistency of Leverkusen is undoubtedly a key factor in their current standing, but the presence of Bayern Munich with just one point behind adds an element of uncertainty to the race. But it's hard to "super consistent" when they just have one point gap to their competitor.
The 50-50 scenario you describe emphasizes the delicate balance in the competition. If they can avoid stumbling in crucial matches, they have a strong chance of securing the title.

But then, Bayern Munich's track record and experience in title races make them a competitor who can put extra pressure, they are kind of a team who can capitalize on any slip-ups from their competitors. The question of whether Leverkusen can keep their consistency is central to the title race narrative. If they manage to do so, they have the potential to emerge as champions.

Juventus really needs to maintain its consistency to be able to pressure Inter Milan in the race for the Scudetto, Alleggri has to think of several solutions regarding the balance of his squad. On other hand, Juventus management should support Alleggri with a budget to add depth to the squad, they must find replacements for Pogba and Fagioli who have been banned from playing. As currently seen, only Juventus is able to become Inter rival team in the Scudetto race, other elite teams are having difficulty stopping Inter steps this season.

We know that competition in the next half of the season will be fiercer, if the point difference is not large it means that the position is not completely safe. In week 18, Juventus will face one tough match, namely against Roma. Alleggri certainly understands that Mourinho squad is not an easy opponent, they have just beaten Napoli. On paper, Juventus is superior, but Roma has ambitions to penetrate the top four of the standings, so the Bianconeri need to be fully alert.
To stay competitive, Allegri needs to explore solutions and find suitable replacements for Pogba and Fagioli. His strategic thinking regarding the balance of the squad is pivotal. The board should be ready to support him financially with providing squad depth. The Scudetto race is intense, and the competition is fierce, with Inter Milan showing a great form. To stay in the race, Juventus must not only win matches but also maintain a level of performance that matches or surpasses Inter's.

The mid-season point difference is a crucial factor. If the gap is not substantial, it implies that no position is entirely safe, and even a small slip-up could be costly. Juventus need to prepare for the challenges of the next half of the season that requires a proactive approach by addressing potential weaknesses in the squad. The match against Roma is a significant test. Despite being on paper the superior team, Juventus cannot underestimate Roma, especially after their recent victory against Napoli. Roma's ambitions to break into the top four make them a determined opponent, Mourinho's desire to beat a good team is always scary, and Juventus needs to be fully alert to secure a positive result.

Even if PSG dropped points in a few matches, the team will not have much trouble regaining the top spot in the points table. Although Nice is currently second in the table, this team is not strong enough. Nice players scored only 19 goals in 17 matches. The performance of attacking players needs further improvement. If not, the Nice team will slowly move down the points table. Because there is still a long journey ahead. Each team will play 17 more matches.

PSG are in very good form. We can see better performances from Mbappe as well. Despite losing points in a few matches at the beginning of the season, their performance is very good now. Even though the match against Lille was a draw, we saw a good performance from the PSG players. As PSG players are confident now, it will not be too difficult for PSG to get 3 points against Lens.
It's undoubtedly a common opinion that PSG is too strong to be in Ligue 1 when they are still favorite while having initial setbacks. However, the team has found its rhythm, with notable improvements in the performances of key players, including Kylian Mbappe. It's difficult for any team to compete with them in Ligue 1.

Comparatively, Nice might face challenges maintaining their position due to their offensive struggles. Scoring only 19 goals in 17 matches is a very bad statictistic for a team that suppose to compete for the title. It's plausible that Nice could face difficulties in holding their ground as the season progresses, especially with 17 more matches to be played. The recent form and the confidence of PSG's players indicate a comfortable win for PSG. While no match is a guaranteed win, PSG's overall quality makes it reasonable to expect them to secure three points against Lens. Their ability to bounce back from early-season setbacks is a testament to their resilience.

This is totally unbelievable Nottingham Forest won the match with 3-1 in Newcastle United home, definitely game can change, how manage that Nottingham Forest won when Newcastle United dominanted the ball possession with all most 61% and Nottingham Forest try to resist the pressure and scored almost three goals in away match for that matter, I will start to take any team serious no more underrating because that is what Newcastle United did to result to this ending, to my greatest surprised despite the pressure mounted by Newcastle United they still Managed to have chances created more than Newcastle United. Nottingham Forest really make you of the opportunity the had.
It's was a shocking result to witness. I would never have thought Newcastle would lose against Nottingham Forest, because, except against Liverpool, they always won the match at their home. I'm convinced this loss would affect their mentality badly, after they also failed in Champions League. Losses, especially unexpected ones, can affect the confidence and morale of players. It's a challenging moment that a team's resilience and ability to bounce back are truly tested. The mental aspect is as crucial as the physical, and a positive response to setbacks can define a team's character. This is what they need for now on.

However, This result just proves that the competitiveness in Premier League and Football matches being not determined by possession percentages. Nottingham's ability to resist the pressure and score three goals in an away match showed their effectiveness in converting chances into goals. Every team poses a threat, and underestimating opponents can lead to surprising outcomes. Nottingham Forest took advantage of the opportunities presented to them, even those are small ones.

Barcelona won the La Liga last season but with the way they are performing this season, nothing good can be expected from them this season as well. They lack a great finisher and have considerable weaknesses in their defense as well. They enter the field with the same strategy to catch every match. To do well in major tournaments, Barcelona must work on their weaknesses as well as change their tactics, only then will they be able to do well. Barcelona is a big name for those of us who follow La Liga regularly and we always have a bit higher expectations for Barcelona but currently Barcelona are not able to perform to our expectations at all.
It's evident that there are challenges within the team, particularly in front line being clinical and defensive stability. The lack of a prolific finisher and defensive vulnerabilities are critical aspects that Barcelona needs to address to compete at the highest level. These weaknesses can indeed impact their overall performance. Football is a dynamic sport, and teams often need to adapt and evolve to stay competitive. Changes in tactics and strategies might be necessary, as you rightly pointed out.

Fans indeed expect strong performances and success in major tournaments. It's a crucial time for the club to make necessary adjustments, and work towards achieving the standards that Barcelona is known for. Barcelona has the potential to turn things around with the right adjustments and improvements. While the current performance may not meet expectations, the club has a history of resilience and the ability to overcome challenges.

The way Liverpool finished the season last season, we couldn't have predicted that Liverpool would be back in terrible form next season.  Liverpool have released several players from their club this season but on the contrary they have not signed any quality players to their club yet their performance is the best in the Premier League at the moment. Liverpool is in the second position of the points table with just one point less having played the same number of matches as Arsenal. In addition to the great performance in the English Premier League, they are also in a great rhythm in the European League and if they do not make any big mistakes, Liverpool is going to be the European champion this season. Liverpool have made several changes in their tactics this season which has led to their success.
The resurgence of Liverpool this season has indeed been remarkable, and it defies the expectations that might have been based on their performance in the previous season. Liverpool's ability to make tactical adjustments is a testament to their managerial prowess. Signing needed players and Adapting to changes in tactics and strategy lead to their impressive form. The willingness to make necessary changes indicates a strong and proactive approach from the coaching staff.

While Liverpool made some changes to their squad, the core group of players like Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah has maintained a high level of performance. The chemistry and understanding among players on the field are crucial for success, and Liverpool seems to have found a balance that works well for them. Even if Liverpool did not make high-profile signings, their squad depth and the quality of players available allow them to rotate and maintain a good performance. Jurgen Klopp has a graet managerial and leadership skill that cannot be understated. His ability to motivate players, make tactical decisions, and guide the team through challenges have been key factors in Liverpool's success.

I really do not think that Aston Villa would be the ones that could take that advantage of this situation, I mean that doesn't mean that we could see Aston Villa lose a bunch of games, I am just saying that if there will be any champions, it won't be Aston Villa at all, they are not really as good as people think they are, they are just decent and taking advantage of a season where most of the big clubs are doing badly.

Next season, if United does better, if Chelsea does better, if Newcastle does better, which they all should, then where do you think Aston Villa will be? Like at best 7th, maybe not even that. This is why I think it's best for Arsenal and Liverpool, nobody else, it's really not that much of a big deal.
It's not a fair point to consider the current success of Aston Villa in the context of other teams struggling, because they also won against Manchester City and Arsenal who are not struggling. Premier League is an intense competition where the performance of top clubs can influence the standings significantly. But it doesnt mean other clubs can't improve to a level of traditional big clubs.

Aston Villa just need to maintain consistency and competitiveness that they have shown so far in the face of big ckubs. Predicting where a team will finish in the league is a complex task, and there are numerous variables at play. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds and whether Aston Villa can sustain their current form or if the landscape of the league shifts in the upcoming seasons.

Moving to the united will be another disaster for any player who has a good run in the current club. I prefer for any good players to refrain from joining in the manchester united if it's still coached by ten hag. There have been many victims caused by the bad managerial by ten hag.
It proves so many time ten hag is very often to have problems with his own players. Ten hag never able to create a good enviroment for his players. This is the thing that doubted me if someone was moving to join in the manchester united.
They shall have learned from what happened with onana and hojlund. The players have been targeted by manchester united needs to think for twice. They may also end their career in manchester united.
Any players shall reconsider it before try to go to the manchester united coz they are putting their career into the big risk. This is what i can take it from the result of onana and hojlund. They played better in serie a.
It seems the pressures are too big for all of em.
Players experiences can shape perceptions, and the cases of Onana and Højlund might raise concerns. Each player's journey is unique, and there are multiple factors that contribute to challenges in a new environment. Managerial styles and teammates can have varying impacts on different players. The experiences of Onana and Højlund, while they may not have met expectations at Manchester United, do not necessarily dictate the fate of all players under ten Hag's coaching. I dont think it's a coacing factor rather than the club's environment.

Players contemplating a move to Manchester United or any other club should carefully weigh their options. Currently Manchester United seem to not have a supportive environment for players to thrive. The high expectations and the tough rivals like Manchester City migth have created the narative that some players dont deliver enough contributions, and this narative put more pressure on the players.

That's right , such a bad performance by the players of a strong team like Barcelona is really not like accepted. The lazy nature of the Barcelona team's players this season, in the game, has caused some ire among Barcelona fans. This season, it is observed that Barcelona is very weak in the race for the league title. It is really disgraceful for Barcelona's coach Xavi that the Barcelona team is in the current 4th place in the La Liga points table this season. But I will not blame Xabi for such an outcome of Barcelona. Because Xavi is a very skilled and intelligent coach. I think with his efforts Barcelona can still turn around. Barcelona's turnaround time, not yet gone. The current season is almost half over and there is still half to go. Xavi's tireless efforts can still lead Barcelona to the top of La Liga
Barcelona's stature delivering below expectations is indeed disappointing to witness. and the frustration among fans is understandable. Xavi has proven himself as a highly skilled and intelligent coach, but the challenges a team faces can be multifaceted. It will take some serious evaluations
for Barcelona to figure out of what have gone wrong.

Blaming Xavi entirely for the current standing might not be fair, because current situation is not in his favor. The halfway point of the season offers a significant opportunity for reflection and adjustment. With the return of some injured players, Xavi have a chance to regroup the team, learn from the first half of the season, and make a strong push for a higher position in the La Liga table. Let's hope Xavi's relentless efforts and the collective commitment of the players will indeed lead Barcelona to a more favorable position in the league.
