I think the hatred towards each other seems real to me and for sure I'm going to bet and watch this fight as this would be my first time watching David fight live.  My take is that this fight would go the distance and that over 9.5 @1.87 looks juicy to me and is definitely my bet but I'm also throwing some bucks with Benavidez via decision @3.95. Watching the game right TNT with a huge lead, too bad for Meralco because of too many turnovers and missed shots.
TNT is pretty dominant on this game, I'm expecting a close game here unfortunately its not looking good for Meralco. Too bad I placed a bet to Meralco going against the odds, well this is just a game 1 and Meralco have to do some magic here so they can at least have a win against TNT.
No offense meant but i think Magnolia can make life tougher for TNT than Meralco. It's just unfortunate for the Hotshots that Meralco beat them via that miracle shot by Aaron Black hehe. Against TNT, Meralco has no answers for the shooters of the Katropa. McDaniels and Maliksi's output last night is one of the indicator that this would be a short series. It's sad to see the news that Inoue is injured. No estimated months means the injury is probably serious and training camp needs to stop. Unlucky as well for Fulton as the guy is grinding seriously to defend his belts. Maybe Fulton can take an easy tune-up to make his training camp worth it.
The original date would've been perfect to set up an undisputed match between the winners of Fulton-Inoue and Akhmadaliev-Tapales. This division is yet to get unified since the 4-belt era so hopefully, it will happen later this year or early next year. I am hoping for Marlon Tapales to score a big upset against Akhmadaliev.
Per ESPN report, the bout will be rescheduled this summer and i did a little research on what months belong to summer and i found out it starts on June and ends in August so we have to wait again for a maximum of five months to witness this fight that one of the best that this sport can offer  . Moving on to the Magnolia vs. Meralco game, both teams have put up a good fight so far, and the game has been characterized by its physicality. While Magnolia is favored to win, I believe that Meralco has a chance to pull off an upset if they maintain their solid defense in the second half.
Based on what I see on the screen, the matchup between Meralco Boltz and Magnolia looks exciting as either team could win. The Meralco Boltz have a twice-to-beat advantage, so Magnolia needs to win this game if they want to advance to the exciting part of the matchup. The game is currently in a run, with Magnolia leading by double digits and now it's back to a single-digit lead. All this while i thought that this is a series, i mean this matchup between Magnolia and Meralco is a best-of-three series. With 1 minute left in the game and Magnolia leading by 7 points (96-89), this is money in the bag for Magnolia and we will be seeing a game 2 on Friday. NLEX is playing without an import, so I think this game will be a boring one, and it surely won't be a close one. Brownlee is so good in times like this, so most likely, Ginebra will win via a blowout. Anyway, I just took the -11, and hopefully, that will hit.
Yes, they are, and without an import, it means Ginebra has a very huge chance of winning. -11 is definitely achievable, as Ginebra can make a big run, and they might just get it in one quarter. I didn't expect this to happen to NLEX. They need their import, but he is not healthy, so they are going to war against the best in the PBA with an all-Filipino squad. Well, this is a best of 3 series, maybe NLEX's import will be able to play in game 2. As per report, Wayne Selden Jr had a grade 1 right midfoot sprain, that's why he won't be playing for tonight's game but i think he will play in game 2 as the injury is only grade 1. Yeah, that -11 is very achievable, in fact the Ginebra Kings are leading by 20 points at the end of the first half, 56-36. It was a close ballgame at the end of the first quarter but the lead of the Kings blew up to 20 with Brownlee leading the charge. NLEX ML @13.00, who's brave enough to try this one? Good news for fans of "No Mercy" Gesta, he won against Jojo Diaz, judges score the fight in his favor, Alejandro Rochin (99-91) and Pat Russell (98-92), while the other judges, hehehe, maybe he is watching other fight because the score is somewhat questionable, Judge Pam Hayashida (97-93).
I just wonder though if Ryan Garcia fought Gesta, maybe there could be upsets as well, hehehe.
In any case, good for Gesta, his career can move on and most likely fight for another day. While for Diaz, no longer the hype on his name, probably this weight for his is too much, maybe it's better to go down to 130 lbs.
That may be the reason why they cancel the planned bout between Gesta and Ryan Garcia, they smell an upset if that was pushed through. Have forgotten to post in this thread the odds for this fight, Gesta was a very heavy underdog @6.20 ML and unfortunately, i have put a bet on this one as I'm very busy with something IRL. How about the second game - NLEX vs Ginebra? This is a best-of-three series, so it's going to be a good one. As of now, Ginebra is -6.5 to win. I think they will win, as Ginebra is destined for the Finals, but the question is, can they cover the spread? I guess I'll just wait and be patient. I'll take it live when Ginebra is down, maybe I can get a spread of -3.5 or even lower.
That's a good strategy as Ginebra is a slow starter team, I mean they usually step on the gas in the second half, especially in the third quarter but this is a quarterfinals game so I think coach Tim Cone will really push his guys to be aggressive all throughout the game and they might blow NLEX early. Ginebra -6.5 @1.80 vs NLEX I will take no chances as Ginebra might blow out their opponent tomorrow because they are coming from a lose. |

4-5 match-up between Meralco and Magnolia
- TBH, it's hard to pick which team will win on this one because even though Meralco won on this one, they only won by a I think 2 points only IIRC. This will be a good match, but I want to see Meralco winning on this so I'll choose the Bolts.
This is the only 50-50 match in the quarter-finals for me. Magnolia doesn't have the old reliable big as Sangalang is still out but that would be filled by their import so that makes this encounter competitive. All the rest is predictable, i mean the favorites will win like you pointed out and when the semis came that's when things got exciting as Fajardo is out and it seems that the PBA governor's crown is open to everybody hehe. ^ With the fight hype like this, they would really want a rematch and Golden Boy wants its space for it. I think no matter who wins they will have a rematch. And If I would read between the lines here. They will deliberately set the fight just enough to make it fun and exciting yet also disappointing to consider a rematch.
Haha, you may have a point but i think deliberately making the fight enough to warrant for a rematch is a hard thing to do and we must not forget that Tank Davis' sentencing will be in May and he may be out for a year or more so the rematch would not happen very soon even if Ryan Garcia win the first. Have not read thoroughly the rehydration clause but i think Tank Davis is simulating the moves of Canelo Alvarez wherein he controlled his opponent's weight when they face in the ring, not a bad move but i think a coward act hehe. |
