I made this some time ago:

I have decided that I will no longer be leading the Electrum project.
Electrum has been a great experience, but things have been going very fast lately, and I do not have enough time to keep up with all the current developments. My site (ecdsa.org/electrum) will redirect to electrum-desktop.com, which should be considered as the official website.
Thanks to genjix, we now have an active community of developers, so I am confident that this project will live its own life, and that my work will not die. I want to thank all the developers and users who supported the project. I wish you the best for the future.

I pledge 5btc.
the delay has expired, and nobody proposed an extension that matches the requirements (although a chrome extension has been developed). I will therefore return your plegde of 5 btc (see PM).

ThomasV, the author of Electrum, has made it public that he is not going to add new features to the client while a couple of us still see a lot of room for improvement.
can you clarify this point?

Ok, this is really fucking despicable. I have some chat logs with Amir on this topic I'll share later today. As a junior contributor to this project, one I am supremely enamoured with, I was really confused when I first saw this post so I reached out to find out what was going on. I got Amir's side of the story and he assured me there was no animosity between you two. Now with this response, I can clearly see what's happened and it's disgusting. I'm no software developer, but this is no fucking way to fork a project. wtf, I come back from vacation to see that Electrum has been hijacked? :-) relax... this is not a fork, at least not for now :-) I have no problem with people re-using and modifying my code; it is in fact the best thing that can happen to it. Amir has been working hard to create a community around the project, and I see this as a positive thing. I also told him that I was looking for someone else to take over the project, because I do not have enough time for it myself. However, I did not mean to transfer the project to him in particular, and I did not expect this kind of 'take over' without concertation... I do not know if Amir is the best person for managing that project, mostly because I do not think that a project that involves people's money can be run as an anarchy. But well, he seems to be highly motivated and dedicated, and he's willing to spend more time than me on it at the moment. So, let it be that way. Time will tell if he succeeds.

Maybe if you could generate grammatically correct (but likely nonsensical) sentences it would be more memorable?
loss of entropy aside, I believe that gramatically correct sentences are easier to learn, but they are also easier to forget. if you make the effort to memorize a non-structured list you are more likely to remember it.

ok, I'll update the link can you explain why you could not build 0.61?
|
|
|
Electrum 0.61 packages with light gui are now available on ecdsa.org
|
|
|
I uploaded 0.61 packages again. It should work now.

|
|
0.61 packages are now available (see previous announcement)
edit: sorry, the 0.61 package still has problems. the site links again to version 0.60

1) The Receive button does indeed select a random address. Wouldn't it make more sense for it to select the next unused address? My wallet already has addresses labeled for specific people and selecting one of those would confuse things quite a bit.
please clarify. an address can be unused and have a label, or it can be used and have no label. Unused as in no TXs. yes, I agree, it is the most sensible thing to do. we don't want to manage labels in the lite gui

2) Could there be settings to choose whether to default to the lite vs. full GUI and default fiat currency? 4) Is there a way to get back to the lite GUI from the full GUI other than closing the client?
I agree with this. It makes sense to start the lite gui when Electrum is launched by a web browser, in order not to interfere with browsing. However, when a user starts Electrum from the command line, I think it is more sensible to give direct access to the the full gui

Although I have nothing invested in BS&T, the whole ordeal worries me a bit. What if it turns out that clients don't get their funds back? In that case bitcoin will have to take another hit, and price will go down, which also hurts my bitcoin savings. I really hope we'll see some clarification soon..
Why would Bitcoin take another hit? A few people get scammed. End of story. No big deal for Bitcoin. I'd say bad publicity, and perhaps more people losing faith in the credibility of bitcoin. Scam victims may indeed lose faith in the credibility of Bitcoin. So what? Why should we bother about them losing faith? If people are stupid enough to invest in what looks like a Ponzi scheme, it will be difficult to teach them the difference between the currency itself and the various scams they can fall for. Let these people lose faith; a bit of natural selection will not hurt the community.

About the paths to resources... ("background.png", "style.css" and the icons folder):
I think it's not ideal yet. Right now, on Windows, gui_lite appears to be looking for them in %AppData%\Electrum (which, until now, only ever contained the wallet file).
I'm afraid this will cause a problem when I make my portable builds (the ones that can be run off a USB stick).
If that's no issue to you, please could you consider changing that path to a subfolder (for instance "lite_data") in what I call the "Electrum root directory" - you know, where directories "ecdsa", "lib", "aes", etc are located?
I think it could be more robust and consistent that way. What do you think?
indeed, the resource files (png, css) should be included in the qrc file

I confirm that ecdsa.org has been down for a few hours yesterday. (it was rebooted by my ISP, and there was an error in the reboot cron script)
