981  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What attracted you to gambling?Share your experience whether good/bad. on: July 08, 2023, 05:53:09 PM

About yesterday I came across a friend looking so depressed and sad and tried to interrogate with him then he said he felt like giving up in life and i asked why, he said he used about 80% of his savings to stake on a particular football game and lost, I felt so pity for him and had to encourage him with some advices.
He broke the cardinal rule in gambling and which is only played with money that you can afford to lose and never involve your savings in gambling, even if you are 100% sure that you are going to win you never the know outcome until the results are final, in gambling there are unforeseeable events that can happen that you least expect it.

I was attracted to gambling specifically sports betting peer to peer especially if I am against a bettor who bets for the underdogs, there is something when you win in gambling its easy money but after a lot of disappointment and realizing that you cannot make a lot of money from gambling and you cannot make a living out of it, I have to give up hope that I can be good in gambling and accept is as entertainment and only bet with money that you can afford to lose.

I'm not surprised about the feeling of that specific friend because everybody in this world who will have the same experience will indeed feel worthless because 80% is already a huge amount but not every gambler has the confidence to do that in one go even if there's a good chance in winning that bet, you see, we tend to feel some doubts even though our chances are strong and that just mean that we know deep in ourselves that it is not that sure as long as the outcome will not say the same bet you're betting to.
982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: July 08, 2023, 02:51:56 PM
That would be a great record to have, but FIFA is so concentrated on making money and extracting as many resources from the world cup that it would not surprise me if at some point they had the fantastic idea, notice my sarcasm, to play the world cup every two years instead of doing so every four years, in which case the record of Ronaldo will be easily crushed, now this may seem unrealistic now but it would not surprise me if they actually tried to do this in a few decades.

World Cup every two years? Impossible!!!

As ambitious for money as FIFA is, this would be a totally inappropriate suggestion for a competition of the magnitude that the world cup has.

In order to hold this event, there must be large investments by the host countries, a lot of mobility and changes in the schedule, there is no way to do this every two years.

Fifa has already increased the number of teams in the competition and this is what they can do best.

Another solution would be to make the tournament a regular competition and more spread out between the years, but that would take the "brightness" out of the tournament and become a "normal" competition.

The less Fifa messes with the world cup, the better!

You didn't even notice his sarcasm Cheesy he just said it mate.

A World Cup in every two years really do sounds ambitious and I don't think that it will be granted if ever the FIFA council will try to make it. Countries around the world will lose their desires to host for this kind of event as it will be not rare anymore and people won't be that interested anymore as they know that they can always see the next World Cup in the next two years, instead of four years where they will indeed prepare for it and will not lose the chance to see the event.
983  Economy / Economics / Re: Getting an MBA before starting a company or directly starting a company? on: July 06, 2023, 09:49:30 PM
MBA's are losing value, among other college degrees, for the fact that educational institutions are becoming diploma mills and offering these degrees to anyone who wants to pay for it. The internet doesn't require you have a degree for anything, experience matters.

Save yourself the costs and political indoctrination most universities made you endure, skip the degree and enter the labor market.
It’s actually a real talk. Getting MBA is not just a degree to be taken but also it’s becoming a business for some universities. As long as there will be someone who’s willing to pay, then rest assured that you will have that diploma fast and clear. That’s why I don’t think having an MBA will greatly matter. If you know your own capabilities in that field, then you should take some due diligence to learn more and improve your knowledge and skills more. And with experience, that will pave way for a successful business in the future.
984  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The exit plan on: July 06, 2023, 09:20:57 PM
As a crypto investor that desire to make huge profit through Cryptocurrency, there is 100% need to know what exit plan is and how to effect it appropriately. I know most of us are not too experience in the Crypto line and it is best to learn from those with this experiencial knowledge.

To all experienced Bitcoin investors, kindly share your experience with us, let's learn and become expose to the reality and strategy before the next bull run. This is another means to help young investors like us.
What are your exit plan and what exit plan have you used that work well for you.
I usually stick to the basic of buying low and selling high. When I see opportunities to make profits, then I take part in selling some coins and just buy back again when prices have declined. That is not something new to discuss but it’s always the most effective strategy for me. No need to resort into other exit plans, as long as you are comfortable with it and it’s somehow reducing the risk of losing, then I’m settled with that.
985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Not your keys, Not your coins" is not enough on: July 06, 2023, 08:58:22 PM
I see your good intention here, to make these traders aware that centralized exchanges will never be good and profitable forever. But the fact that every trader has its own point of view about centralized exchanges, then you can never take control of their actions towards the exchanges. Good thing if they just listen to the long time traders in the market since they gained more experiences than them, but traders nowadays have their own perspective and their own plans in trading. I just hope they will not suffer losing their coins from trusting these centralized exchanges.
986  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Beginners Should Follow These To Be A Good Price Predictor on: July 06, 2023, 08:39:37 PM
Definitely, if you are a beginner, then you should always keep yourself updated according to the price of the market. At first you should gather knowledge on how trading works and what affects the price of the coin. if you miss the basic points when you are a beginner, then definitely there is a chance that you will make losses in the initial days. The points mentioned in the OP is well structured, but one doesn’t need to follow all. If your basic understanding about the market is clear, then you will easily learn all these features quickly while trading and gaining experience.
In addition to that, even if you follow all these factors, that will still not guarantee that you’ll be a good price predictor since the market alone is always unpredictable. Today, it’s price might be on a surge but the next day, suddenly all those prices have start declining. So you’ll never learn to predict the crypto prices easily. If you can’t predict them well, then just learn to adapt with the market changes. With experience, you’ll get used to it and this unpredictable market will never be an issue anymore.
987  Economy / Economics / Re: To Hodl or Lend: What is your take? on: July 06, 2023, 08:19:15 PM
Online lending, in my opinion, is too dangerous. Consider this: you have one friend who knows you well, and because he has a difficulty, he borrows money from you with interest and promises to pay it back in 1 or 2 months. You want the money back with interest after two months, but because your friend still has a problem, he wants to pay the following time until he can't because the interest keeps increasing. How much more if you're doing it online and don't know the person you're dealing with? That is why some individuals do this with collaterals. I only trust loan services on Bitcointalk because their account should be their collateral, especially those who are well-known in the community.
Be it online or offline, lending will never guarantee profits. Especially if a certain exchange suddenly gets bankrupt, the fact that all centralized exchanges may experience that, then you will never retrieve your bitcoin anymore. It’s like you are putting your hard-earned bitcoin into a waste, and worst is you are not benefiting from it but only the centralized exchange. That’s the reason why I don’t see bitcoin lending a profitable one, and I’ll never advise anyone to resort on that.

989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Procrastination, Buy Bitcoin And Prepare For The Next Halving. on: July 05, 2023, 09:38:57 PM
Fear often leads people to miss out on opportunities, particularly in the context of investing. However, it's important to understand that not everyone in the world is motivated solely by the desire to profit from Bitcoin. Each individual has their own priorities and commitments, which may take precedence over investing. Not everyone will actively pursue Bitcoin. Even those who are familiar with Bitcoin sometimes fail to seize opportunities. We tend to wait for further price declines during market downturns, and when prices rise, we wait for a dip to accumulate more, inadvertently causing us to miss out on potential opportunities.
Having fears is actually normal especially for beginners who are still afraid to take the risk but if you chose to remain in that state, I guess you will never gain progress within yourself. That why you need to take extra leap because that is a must in every investment. And when you’re there, be sure to understand the purpose why you take that risk so that you will not settle on doubts and hesitations that will only procrastinate your achievements and success in your life. Be goal centered, and invest when the price is low before you’ll run out of its good opportunity again.
990  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I become a successful Bitcoin investor as a newbies? on: July 05, 2023, 08:42:24 PM
That's what a newbie should do when they are just starting. Honestly, I am not an expert when it comes to investments but I know that a person who wants to invest should be knowledgeable about what they want to invest in. Willingness to take risk is also important because if an investor is not willing to take risk then that investor is more likely not earning the same as those investors who are willing to take risks. OP, what you mentioned is good enough for newbie investors to become successful and an investor whoose profit or make mistakes will learn from it or in short, learn from mistakes to become better.
Everything that you listed OP are certainly a must when you decide to invest and aim to succeed in it. Being knowledgeable and having the willingness to take a risk is very essential because if you have knowledge yet you have fears to enter into such risky investment, then everything will be useless. Somehow, we should also learn to get out from our comfort zone and take some risky decisions like investing in bitcoin since you will never achieve significant changes in your life if you can’t manage to take some risk and overcome it.
991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: July 03, 2023, 07:35:55 PM
~snip~
I don't think Messi will just leave football... The World Cup is three years away, that's not much time... Although it would probably be nice for him to retire from football after his team won the cup last year... If Messi stays in the national team, it's not certain they can win in 2026... And this championship will definitely be his last... I can't assume anything about Ronaldo... He was going to leave a long time ago... But he still plays every time...

Messi currently has a contract with Inter Miami until December 2025... that sounds like he will retire by then, and not play the world cup in 2026.

Basically it looks like he's just getting as much money as he can right now and then ride into the sunset.

Maybe he will just continue doing ads, but I reckon he won't be playing professional football in 2026.

If Lionel Messi wanted to get as much money as he can while he is still active in the sport then I he could've joined the team where CR7 is with because that contract was worth a staggering $450 Million compared to what Inter Miami gave to him which is only $60 Million per year and that will only last for two years.

So, that's not really the case and while searching for the answer of that question, it seems that Messi just wanted a calmer life and a lot of time with his family.
992  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: July 03, 2023, 06:31:39 PM
In any case, perhaps it was a good decision for Moloney as he is not a champion. But then again Donaire has also a greater chance to win as well if we look at the current odds, he is the favorite here.

Even the fighter that Moloney fought is not a champion, when Inoue left the Bantamweight division, all the belts were vacated. Therefore, Moloney had the opportunity to choose any boxer for a championship fight. It's just unfortunate that he passed on fighting Donaire and instead opted for an easier opponent.

Sooner or later, their path will cross again and Donaire might target him next if ever he will get this belt in his favor, we never know because anything can happen.
About Moloney's decision to skip Donaire, it was the right choice because he is now the champion while Donaire is still on the process with no guarantees that he can be the champion once again. It's either Moloney was just scared or he was just not inclined to waste some time because at that time, the fight was still blurry if it will indeed happen or not.
993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: July 03, 2023, 06:08:37 PM
If it's to win at odds, then maybe, if you can.. sometimes in gambling, profits will be more attractive than the ideal of being a fair player. because it's not certain that other gamblers or the odds will also be fair to us. let alone in gambling, even in games as usual there will usually be cheating activities, so this is not a taboo or new thing anymore

This is a poor excuse for cheating: "maybe they are also cheating us". Thieves often try to justify their actions by saying saying something like that. It doesn't work. Judges and people overall don't take their words into account. And rightly so. If you think a casino is cheating, stop playing there and open a scam accusation, but don't try to become a scammer yourself.

It's like I killed someone because I suspect he killed one of my relatives or tried to kill me. Even if it's proved that someone killed your relatives or attempted to kill you, you still cannot kill someone. There are laws in each county. You cannot make a decision based on just suspicion. You should have some proof to claim that he is a killer and should be punished.

Now, we don't know if some casinos were cheating on us. It's not easy for players to cheat a casino if they do not have some kind of bonus. If you find a loophole where you cheat the platform, it's not ethical to use it to take advantage. In this case, you are a cheater.

As the saying goes, you cannot rectify a mistake by making another mistake.

It might be true that casino and its top officials are cheating to the players and let's say that it was proven that they are guilty about that act but still, your decision is not a valid reason to commit a mistake just because they are doing it or everybody is doing it. You yourself know what is right and what is wrong, and you should take pride about that and so that you can be a role model to someone who is looking up on you. You never know.

This is the right virtue on dealing what’swrong or not but we are all talking about casino which players are very greedy to gain profit or else they will not be gambling and just work to earn profit. In real case scenario if there’s an opportunity like this, I think most of us here including those who have virtue like you mention will be tempted to try this method since it’s 100% working to cashout as stated by OP on his description to this scenario.

It’s really bad to this but I think greedy people especially those who lose big time will not think twice to use this method because we are all human after all. No one will knew what you are doing because it’s online so the chance of people that will do this is very high.

I'm quite sure that at least 90 percent of the gamblers will definitely take advantage if there is a situation where they can bet on games that guarantees their wins, because why not? The situation is already presented to you and it's not everyday that you can have this chance, and it's not that everybody knows about it.

Gamblers will always be a gamblers and at the end of the day, they will use and find some means to have a win as that is also their goal in the first place as to why they are gambling. Unless if you are that kind of gambler who doesn't care about the wins and losses because you are only there for entertainment purposes.
994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 03, 2023, 05:31:16 PM
Miami would be a great place for Dame, they already have Butler and Adebayo, and a lot of shooters with duncan and herro as well. That means we are going to end up with a squad that will be very good for the current era of basketball. They have one big that is very talented both on defense and on rebounding and could scoop up points inside when needed, that is very good, not star on offense and scoring for sure but at least like get the offensive rebound or something or do pick and roll decently and also most importantly lock inside down on defense.

Dame and Butler could take over depending on which one is hot, and they could always pass it outside to some of the three pointers which would help them on the long run without a doubt, like when defense collapses on the same person all the time, they can pass it out.

Yes, that's what I also think about if ever Dame will land in Miami Heat this summer. Although Robinson and Herro might be traded away to cater Dame but that is still a good package for Miami Heat because finally, Jimmy Butler will have his own duo while Bam Adebayo will have the freedom to lock down any players that could be a threat to their rim without thinking more as he knows now that there is Jimmy and Dame outside the perimeter.
995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top Five Reasons Sports Bettors Are Attracted to eSports on: July 02, 2023, 09:07:24 PM
Most of us grew up playing Dota on battle net or garena and my generation is already 30+ so jumping into esports betting was just a matter of time so that should be a top reason. Another one should be the fact that we played that game for so long that we think we can predict the drafts or even think that one team out drafted the other based on our own ranked/pubs experience but when the game starts...most of the time we are wrong haha. Per example look at this Bali Dota 2 Major where teams who were expect to perform are not , and the ones who didn't have any expectation to perform good are dominating their groups.

Oh man! You brought back the good old days when it was still Dota 1 and funny enough, we are on the same age bracket, and I also started my Dota journey way back when I was still in my high school days. Anyway, after that, I already forgot everything about the game and how it evolved into a Dota 2 that we now know today. Right now, I'm more inclined to bet on traditional sports like basketball, football, etc.

I could be in eSports if I wanted to, but time is not really on my side these days as I know it will take me some time to get accustomed to it and know the players behind it even though I have some slight knowledge about the games.
996  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 02, 2023, 08:03:13 PM
This is weird. Because what I am hearing is that Canelo is 90% close to making a deal against WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack. Not an easy fight for Canelo despite Jack at 39 years old. But should Canelo lose again, he remains undisputed at 168 while he's got the chance to become a 5-division world champion if he beats Jack.
Needless to say, what we have here are just a mere speculations of what might be Canelo Alvarez's future move because it sure looks like he got a lot of option right now. But seriously though, CW might be too much for him because it was already clear that he is having a hard time fighting against a natural LHW. What more if it's a CW champion, I can't just imagine what will happen

Quote
Anyways, should the rumor of Jermall-Canelo is the one to be made, I wonder if the WBC elevates Benavidez as its champion since he is the interim champ and even fought for an unnecessary eliminator.
As of now, there are no clear signs to Canelo's plan and only their team really knows what's the real score but it will not surprise me anymore if Benavidez will not get his chance even if he's the interim champ because currently, Canelo got the perks of having the organizer, promoter, sanctioning bodies and even judges are on his side.

Yes, that's why it is called rumour though, but as boxing fans, we want to speculate as what will be the next move of their team.

We wanted a Bivol or Benavidez fight, seems not going to happen. Bivol says that the offer is not as good as what they have expected giving the fact that they beat Canelo. And then with the Benavidez fight, it seems that Canelo is not interested.

And so the rumour that recently came out, Charlo the champion at 160 lbs is their next target. So we will see if this is what Canelo's camp wanted and what they are going to accomplished if they chooses a small fighter who is not that active.

It's weird because seeing Bivol do a good job with any boxer is something not to be missed, however Benavidez is a boxer who has been increasing his level, that's what I don't like about current boxers, that you always have him They had to be there licking boots for them to accept a challenge, when before they were nobody, they even fought with anyone who challenged them in the street in order to become famous, now with respect to Bivol he should accept all kinds of challenges, he is someone who needs Being much more valued, he will not fight only with the most famous, because the most famous will not want to fight with him, he has to attract the attention of the famous so that he is at their level.

First of all, we should not forget that this industry is mainly a business industry and of course, those boxers who can bring a much bigger revenue will always have the favor on their side as they are the ones who keeps the money flowing into their pockets. For Benavidez's situation, I know that it is unfortunate that he wasn't given a chance but for sure though that he knows the reality about this industry and whether he like or not, he got no other choice than waiting for Canelo's approval to have that fight.
997  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo - September 30th in Las Vegas on: July 02, 2023, 07:43:36 PM
Remember that Canelo didn't have a good performance against John Ryder in Mexico. And there are a lot of boxing fans who are somewhat disappointed with his performance as he is expected to win by a knockout. And maybe he was really affected by his hand injuries. So he need to pick a fighter that he has a good chance to beat without damaging his legacy.

And maybe after this it will be Benavidez as it is reported that his deal with Al Haymon includes a fight with David.
I don't think Canelo's performance was bad against John Ryder, Canelo's performance is still good but Ryder is a true warrior since his nose was broke and he still able to continue the fight until the last round. But it's true Canelo is looking to fight with an opponent that wouldn't able to beat him, Jermall Charlo is one of the example.

The possibility Charlo to beat Canelo is pretty low, I'm more interested to watch Canelo vs Benavidez.

Canelo dominated John Ryder that's what I saw it's just that Ryder is one tough guy, Canelo need not win by knocking out his opponents all the time, it's enough that he dominate the fight unanimous decision is still good, I don't rule out an upset on this fight because Jermell has proven his knock out power, for Jermell to have a chance against Canelo he needs to take the initiative and do what Bivol did never step back and do a lot of counter punches.
Jermell is in the fight of his life, and there will be a major shake-up if Jermell upsets Canelo.

And let's not forget that Canelo might have felt uncomfortable at that time as he just had a surgery a couple of months prior the fight, he just had to face John Ryder in-order to keep him warm while avoiding the risk of inactivity. Canelo got all the plans set and fighting Charlo is included in it, and I can tell that he will not let go of Bivol until he can get that deal done because it is still a win-win situation for him.

As per Jermell Charlo, no offense but I don't really see him winning against Canelo because he will face a very tough challenge for jumping two divisions and facing the strongest boxer in SMW directly. He will have no time to adjust as that will literally take some time off his clock.
998  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: July 02, 2023, 05:58:23 PM

It is too early to say that he will indeed retire from his national team for good and will not play anymore in the upcoming world cup tournament, and will just give his focus in his current team which is the Inter-Miami while spending some more time with his family in the US.

I mean, it is not really the first time where Messi said that he will retire and if I recall it correctly, he said the same thing after the disappointment loss against Chile in the Copa America in 2016.
Ah yes, I also remember this where he also intends to retire from the Argentina national team when he failed with Argentina, and that happened a few years back. But considering his age at that time was not what it is now, so he decided to come back, and it is different from now where he is older, and also he has won a World Cup title which is a complement to the titles he got while playing football.
I wouldn't say that he will actually retire, and on the other hand it's possible that he will considering he seems to have put his family first.

Considering a retirement would be the ideal term for Messi's situation even if he already said that he will no longer join the Argentina in the 2026 World Cup and just like what @Maslate said above, it is not the first time that he said about his retirement in the national team, so I think that is already a clear sign that there is still a chance that Messi will participate together with his team because it will be an honor for him and for his team to defend the championship.
999  Economy / Economics / Re: Landed properties is the best investment on: July 02, 2023, 05:31:51 PM
Land never depreciates it keeps buying higher that's why I considered it the best investment. What do you think?
Theres no doubt that owning landed propertlies is valuable, but it shouldn't be the only thing that determines success or the future. We need to fix the  elementary problems in our society such as investing in education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable businesses that can also lead to economic growth and personal development and make things fairer for everyone. By so doing, many will have an equal chance to live a good life and provide for their children's future. By coming together to work to address these issues, we can create a more balanced and better society for everyone.

Other than that, that same land should be situated in a position where it can generate you a lot of profits in the next couple of decades or at least the land will continue to increase its price in the near future because if the land is situated in some places like in rural areas, it will not really change anything in your life especially if it's situated in a land where it's almost impossible to make a business or plow the land to grow some crops for the meantime.
1000  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: July 01, 2023, 08:53:34 PM
That's why others think that Santiago has a good chance as Donaire might be a damage goods at 40 years old. But we can't say that for now, unless in the fight he shows his age, like his speed and power is no longer there. And then brutally getting knockout. If that happens then maybe it's time for him to retire and hang up his gloves for good.

Donaire certainly knows what he is doing. The only fighter who managed to defeat him in the bantamweight division was Inoue. Interestingly, even after their first fight, Donaire continued to compete against younger boxers and successfully won the belt. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect that Donaire will bring the same level of skill and determination to his upcoming fight. We might even witness his signature knockout against a lesser-known boxer.

You guys aren't confident betting on Donaire to win by KO?

Yes, I'm still with him as long as he is still active to the sports and especially this time that he will be fighting a somewhat nameless boxer who doesn't have any strong names in his records. No offense to Santiago's fans but I just don't see him winning even if he also have some advantages because for me, IQ and experience are the greatest upper hand that a boxer can have because sometimes, talent is working that hard to help you survive from a fight.
