981  Economy / Economics / Re: Appreciation of bitcoin on: October 03, 2017, 07:27:55 AM
Have been a enthusiast this year in cryptocurrency, have regret that I didn't continue here in the forum for a year since I made an account. But knowing bitcoin and its capability, I think it will be a long run to ride in the bull this last quarter. Hope to increase its price more.  Grin
982  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stealing Bitcoins from online wallets with 2FA on: October 02, 2017, 05:01:30 PM
I see people calling for 2FA as a safety mechanism for their accounts even tho there is a huge vulnerability in the mobile networks known for years now.
2FA just increases the complexity of the attack, it doesn't stop it at all. Here is an article from The Hacker News that came out today about using 2FA on Bitcoin online wallets like Coinbase, although they say that it isn't a vulnerability in Coinbase at all but in the mobile system design flaws instead.

https://thehackernews.com/2017/09/hacking-bitcoin-wallets.html

The conclusion here is that you shouldn't consider a mobile network safe.

I think phishing is the most often attack that occurs in hte forum. Since links are spread here, many of people here in the forum specially newbies, clicking the links without know that the site was a fake that collects data from their log ins. Thats why hackers can change password because of this.
983  Economy / Economics / Re: What country do you think will recognize Bitcoin as an official currency? on: October 02, 2017, 04:52:35 PM
I thinks bitcoin will be more than a currency. Currency is a system of money in general use in a particular country. Since bitcoin can use in different countries. It would be more than that. Mostly like a gold which is recognize around the world because of its importance.

987  Economy / Economics / Re: Proof of Work on: October 02, 2017, 09:49:03 AM
For me Gold is a material or a physical thing while Bitcoin is a imaginary, digital or virtual. For the proof of work, gold was first use for exchange in different commodities in our past with a high value. Bitcoin was different in term of commodities being serve as a records of transactions with different addresses that usually miners use.

Bitcoin is more advance than gold specially for transaction wise but since it is being mined and fkuctuation of the price was volatile, gold will be still valuable in terms of currency and sustainability.
988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tai Lopez on Bitcoin on: October 01, 2017, 09:53:52 PM
I have seen this guy also in youtube, specially in some ads. But totally, I dont really trust this guy.  I think he was more a motivational speaker rather than an entrepreneur. Usually uses social media for popularity. Almost a million subscribers which are really big.  Hope he can learn more about bitcoin.

990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Reaction on: October 01, 2017, 03:49:16 PM
People thinks that bitcoin will really crash specially to those that are not really aware of the cryptocurrencies specially newbies. From the day I first encounter crypto, I was eagerly want to trade because it was really fast to invest, no papers needed, but not knowing the world on how to deal with the trading, I have already invest a portion of my asset.

As far as I know, since it was not regulated and people can trade with bitcoin freely, many people will lose money. The future of bitcoin will be bleak because of this kind of awareness that people will be needing that not being shared specially by the medias, BIG medias.
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Ethereum on: October 01, 2017, 11:26:52 AM
If you compare the two main cryptocurrency, namely Bitcoin and Ethereum, which one has the most promising future?
In terms of evolution, Bitcoin reached a maximum of roughly 4800$, whereas Ethereum reached roughly 394$: in other words, it is a potential increase of 33 % for Ethereum, but only 24% for Bitcoin.

Both of them have futures. Different devs are improving each project. But I think bitcoin has the most advantage of two because it is the baseline of all the cryptocurrency today. Many promising projects compete but who knows who will succed because in the end, they are all volatile.
992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ban in South Korea on: October 01, 2017, 07:51:14 AM
The future of bitcoin in S. Korea would look pretty damn bleak.  As for the rest of the world,
it would be business as usual.  Don't know how important that country's economy is to the
rest of the globe, but I suspect if they did ban it, not much would happen.  Hell, didn't Russia
ban bitcoin?  It survived.  Bitcoin has survived all sorts of negativity and thrived in the face of
it.  Whatever S. Korea does is just kind of a passing phase.  And even if it were true, nothing
is written in stone just yet.  Most countries haven't even figured out if they're going to
regulate crypto or how to do it.  Some haven't even considered crypto at all.

Don't let it worry your pretty little head, darling.

Yes, probably it would not really affecr the world in Bitcoin trading and investment. But I think it may have some sort of effect to the other countries that it can be ban. The government of the different countries might be alarmed that they can alsp ban Bitcoin through their regulations.

And why would they do that? Because of greed and money. They may have more confidence that they could do it because other countries did it. They might see this as an opportunity to seize Bitcoin in the country for the governments wealthy benefit.

I thinks both of you got confuse. OP is only asking if Bitcoin was ban. Like China, Korea also want to be cautious on ICO's thats why they only ban ICO not the bitcoin. Unlike China which they are shutting of some of their exchange because of these scam ICO. Hope all of them will be regularized for more stable market around the cryptocurrency.
993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Breaking: Virtual Currencies Expected to be Regulated in China on October 1st on: October 01, 2017, 02:30:26 AM

Virtual Currencies Are Expected to Be Legislated As “Virtual Property” From October 1

Chinese media outlet Jinse.com has reported that laws governing the use of virtual currencies in China will be enacted on October 1st 2017. Jinse states that Chinese cryptocurrency regulations were incorporated into the nation’s “General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China” legislation, which was voted on and passed on March 15th.

Jinse has reported that the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, which is expected to come into effect on October 1st, will see Chinese cryptocurrency regulations implemented for the first time. The Jinse report suggests that cryptocurrencies will be treated as “virtual property” under Chinese law. Chinese academic, Professor Deng Jianpeng, stated that “bitcoin, [crypto]currency, etc. can be classified as virtual assets.”

Just like other laws,  I thinks there are more flaws in their new laws because of unexperience of the goverment in crytocurrency. But in the end, China will continue this regulation and hopefully the market be stable. Been waiting for the bitcoin to rocket again thsi last quarter.
994  Economy / Services / Re: Need help banning/spamming a scammers thread on: October 01, 2017, 02:09:01 AM
So there is this scammer that claim to sell digital goods on this forum which he scams people. He has scammed so many on this forum including myself. I am tired of it and I have been constantly posting scam alerts on his threads. However, this lowlife, uses a self moderated thread, and constantly deletes all the comments from the people that were scammed. I managed to block one of his account and thread, but now he moved on to another. Let me know what you can do for me so we can ban this scammer so people don't lose anymore money. I am willing to pay for like a auto posting script that once he deleted my message that it re-posts it automatically. You can find his fake thread here and he goes by name name of "Jacc" for this one for now.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2202092.0

This lowlife piece of sh*t needs to go and we need to save other members from getting scammed, or at least try to.

I believe this scammer can't be trace. He can still create another account just to sell to foolish people that don't know that they are trusted.

This is why newbies should read first the welcome threads before buying goods here at the forum because they are not avoidable for people that are too lousy to read.
995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a coordinated attack on btc on: September 30, 2017, 06:38:13 AM
Is there a pattern here.

#1 China claims they plan to crack down on exchanges.
#2 Economic frauds come out at the same time claiming bitcoin is an overpriced bubble, ponzo scheme.
#3 At the same time, it appears bankers and other whales begin to dump bitcoin to drive the price down.

i think that it was the intention of the chinese government to stymie price speculation in the short term. that's not to say they wanted to crash the price, but they knew what they were doing and expected the price to drop. that's also why they've been releasing news piece meal (first the ICO news, then the english version days later, then NIFA issues a statement, now okcoin/huobi meeting with state regulators tomorrow).

as for the others -- jamie dimon and all the economic "experts" throwing shade on BTC..... i think they were all already detractors and chose an optimal time to pile on. nobody wants to look like an idiot calling it a bubble while it keeps making new highs. it looks better after the price has already "crashed."

As for JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon, its a clear conflict of interest. Investor right now are considering bitcoin in their portfolio. This is a huge setbacks on his business. Jamie Dimons statement is timely with the Chinese announcement temporarily banning those ICO's. He just ride the situation.

This is just like throwing a stone on a silent water. Since all are hype in the Chinese news, other journalist take the ride and make headline about a certain quote that really affect the bitcoin. It is natural if a country to regulate their ICO. With the FUD that spread thru the community and the ride of the news, people would really panick. Psychologically, people in the crypto are being blinded specially the new traders which sell their bitcoins this past month.

For me, it is not intentional, hope to rocket the bitcoin before the year ends. Cool
