1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / bitcoind.dll? on: February 14, 2014, 12:05:52 AM
Does anybody have a port of bitcoind.exe for windows as a dll that I can use from managed c#?

For instance I would like to call:

validateaddress 1BlahBlah1223asdsf09sf0 and return true or false instead of having to rely on blockchain.info api for these types of calls or having to run bitcoind.exe on my server.

Thanks
2  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Groupbuy] Jupiter KNCMiner (0.5 BTC shares) 12 sold! [CLOSED] !!! on: December 07, 2013, 03:21:26 PM
So... we still have ~21 months of mining with this group buy, any math nerds care to do an analysis of expected returns in btc over that time period?

So far this groups payout address has received over 911 BTC to date, with the first payout to that address at 10/05/2013, roughly 63 days of mining, which is about 14.46 BTC per day of mining, not too shabby. In comparison my little rig at home has been earning about .01 btc per day with 12GH, it looks like with the new diff of 707MM it will be dropping to .01 btc every day and a half, still though each mBtc helps.

Personally if I get another 10+ btc out of this group buy I will break even in bitcoin and be a very happy camper, regardless of the timeframe.

For those of you to lazy to click the link here is the text:

Quote
SAN JOSE (CN) - A company that sells "Bitcoin mining" equipment folded without delivering the equipment to its customers or refunding hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bitcoin advance payments, a purchaser claims in court.

Howard Loo sued TerraHash Inc., Amir Khan and Tarandeep Gill, in Santa Clara County Court, alleging fraud, unjust enrichment and breach of contract. He claims the company took in more than $600,000 in a single week this summer - $97,000 of it from him, in Bitcoins - then never delivered the goods.
Bitcoins are a virtual currency, which Loo describes as a digital form of gold, which can be transferred between people or merchants. Several businesses worldwide allow customers to pay for goods or services using Bitcoins. A single Bitcoin was selling for more than $1,000 this week.
Bitcoins can be bought or sold through websites that exchange Bitcoins for traditional currencies. "(T)here is even a Bitcoin ATM in Vancouver, Canada, that will allow persons to buy and sell Bitcoins for cash," Loo says in the complaint.

More than 12 million Bitcoins in circulation, and new Bitcoins are constantly being added, though there number will be capped at 21 million, according to the lawsuit.

Bitcoin transactions are protected by cryptography. Specially programmed computers keep track of transfers and prevent people from copying and spending the same Bitcoin more than once time, which is known as double-spending. Operators of such computers are known as "miners" and are rewarded with transaction fees and newly minted Bitcoins, according to the lawsuit.

TerraHash is a computer hardware company that claims to produce and sell application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) Bitcoin mining equipment using Avalon ASIC chips to sell to miners, Loo says.

The company made several announcements on its website about mining equipment for sale. TerraHash took pre-orders for the equipment and said it would accept Bitcoins for payment, Loo says in the complaint. It offered a 5 percent discount for purchases with Bitcoins, which induced Loo to prepay TerraHash for the equipment, he says in the complaint.

"On June 18, 19, and 20, 2013, defendants accepted online orders and prepayment from approximately 130 customers interested in the purchase of ASIC Bitcoin mining equipment," Loo says in the lawsuit. "TerraHash knew the material importance of delivery of the ASIC Bitcoin mining equipment quickly.

"TerraHash received approximately $614,000 in prepayments from orders for ASIC Bitcoin mining equipment during this three day period."

Loo says he ordered a Bitcoin mining device on June 18, for which he paid TerraHash 91.2542309 Bitcoins - now worth $97,050.

Loo says that he was told he would receive the equipment by Aug. 15. But TerraHash did not have the ability to produce functional Bitcoin mining equipment, Loo says. "Indeed, on information and belief, TerraHash was a sham conceived by Amir Khan as a way of defrauding and converting large amounts of money and other valuable assets, including but not limited to Bitcoins, from potential customers of ASIC Bitcoin mining equipment, exploiting the high demand for that equipment," according to the complaint.

The Aug. 15 delivery date came and went with no deliveries, Loo says. On Sept. 25, TerraHash announced on Bitcointalk.org "that 'a lot of customers' had asked for refunds; that TerraHash's bank had shut down its accounts; that it was 'impossible to continue our operation profitably,' and that defendants had therefore 'decided to dissolve the company,'" Loo says in the complaint.

He claims he never received the equipment he paid for, nor a refund of the Bitcoins.
"TerraHash and Khan, by inducing prepayments in the form of Bitcoins, sought to profit further by retaining the Bitcoins, thereby enjoying the anticipated surge in the market value of the Bitcoins," Loo claims.
He wants his Bitcoins refunded and punitive damages for fraud, conversion, negligent misrepresentation, unjust enrichment, breach of contract and breach of faith.

He is represented by Christopher D. Banys.

How can we be sure that crypto-stocks wont be another btct.co or bitfunder for those of us in the US?

Also,
Please point me towards the section on your prospectus regarding risks including physical security of the land, its title/lease etc.

5  Bitcoin / Mining support / cgminer 3.6.4 + powered hub + 6 asic usb sticks == dead/zombie on: October 20, 2013, 01:21:22 PM
So as the title reads, I bought 6 of the asicminer block eruptors along with an arctic breeze usb fan and a powered hub just for the fun of it. They run fine for a couple of hours but then they all go dead/zombie.

1) Why do they go into dead/zombie status?

2) Anything that I can do to remedy this?

3) If not does anybody have a script(windows) to reset them and take them out of dead/zombie status?

TIA

Somebody was talking about direct shares in the other thread, can somebody tell me how this works?
How will the shares be stored?
How will the shares be traded?
Etc, etc. etc.

Can somebody comment on this please?
Holders of GB shares had the option to use bitfunder or use "direct" shares. A direct share simply means we hold your btc address on file and send dividends to that btc address. With the closure of Bitfunder for people from the USA we said we would allow people to change there bitfunder shares to "direct" shares. To do so follow the instructions here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=244042.msg3308356#msg3308356

The window for transfers is open again untill next dividend payment planned wednesday.

I have trouble transfering my shares as it requires Google auth . Does anyone know a way without using iphone/android phone, just the PC ?
https://github.com/mclamp/jauth#readme
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Authenticator

Does someone get verified by WeEx?

Because I uploaded required documents over 48h ago and still no response.
I think they have a huge backlog at the moment.. I hope they get to it soon!

Will it be a routine that payout will be every Wednesday?
For now, yes we'll try to.. As soon as we have all miners from all GB's this might change to a different day.

How do we go about buying and selling if we have direct shares?

Woooah,
I thought terrahash had a working k16 system!!!

Why cant you guys work with terrahash?

I will be working via this git

**Edit: fat fingers

https://github.com/darktongue/klondike
Great, I'll post back any responce I get from marto. Lets see if we can get you a board to work from.
If Marto does not want to give his up, what components will you need ? Am guessing the most difficult would be the pic so if anyone has a couple please step forward..  Wink
Soo I have K16 populated, but we removed some parts of it in order to test our design
I've looked it today
There are 4 Avalon chips on it
also the voltage regulators are diferent and the coil is diferent due some test made here.
There is on more board without avalons and 2 bare boards.
Please pick someone that is going to continue development and I'll send all this to him.
I do not want any payment ( this had cost me about 1000 EUR 3 days order for PCB , components setup and PnP) , I'll be glad If this become a finished project

Just all of you decide and let me know

Good for you!
These people do not deserve your hard earned money!

It's clear now that Terrahash are engaging in dishonest business practices.

If they were not, they would be happy to refund customers who are no longer willing to wait. We get they had Avalon issues, but this is no excuse for not refunding customers as required by the law. They continue to not only ignore refund requests (against the law), but nearly any and all communications have virtually ceased via email, phone, their own support contact system on the website, in addition they have broken nearly every single promise to date, and continue to lie to the community about who they are, what the are doing and when their own customers can see any type of resolution.

It turns out anyone can file a complaint with the FTC, not just US based customers. Terrahash could be liable for a fine of $16,000 for each violation (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=279330.0)

File a complaint right now at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ - Many people already have filed complaints over the last few days and weeks.

The FTC uses statistical analysis to detect fraud and helps them decide who to devote time prosecuting. Let's pull out the big guns. This will either turn Terrahash into an honest company and provide remedy to their customers, or make them face the consequences. We need complaints in numbers, so if you have been ripped off or treated badly, we need you.

Terrahash are sullying the reputation of Bitcoin. We must all stick together and help clean this mess up. Report your dissatisfaction to the the US Federal Trade Commission today at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and help the entire bitcoin community.

Not being funny, and I understand they were screwed over not once, but twice, but if this doesn't involve a secure payment method, walk away, this is as good as a BFL delay tactic whilst your funds are hurting, especially if the 28nm marketing BS is coming from where I think it is.

Think about it.

I supported TH in the beginning with their secure payment choice, but this, nah, something this size with the amount of debt they are in, and the dodgy company I think is behind this, walk away, far, far away. Paypal will have nothing to do with this, no merchant bank will either.

They need you to do this, way more than you need them.

If it lloks like a duck, it quacks like a duck, it's a...

Ill say it, they've "partnered" with BFL.

This company is such a joke, so who is this new spokesperson Matt? and why is this the first time we are hearing anything about him. Did terrahash get a new ceo, did Amir and Justin get fired or did they quit?

IMHO, stay far away from these scamsters.

edit:
Where are the boards terrahash? only 8 days left!

We will be assembling a test K64 tomorrow.

We really don't know what's happening at Avalon's end. We have not received any communication from Yifu whatsoever.

We are already working on Plan B. Can't reveal anything right now. But will update as soon as we can.

Countdown clock for the "assembled" k64

Timer removed. End time: 2013-08-30+24:00:00PST

Looks like you lost, where are the boards Terrahash?

Were you even able to get 1 k16 running at 333*16 without HW errors?

Amir, Justin,
You should pack it up and close your doors, save yourself from bankruptcy and the lawsuits that are surely coming your way.

You have failed in every way:
Failure to communicate in any meaningful way: check
Failure to produce a working prototype: check
Failure to recruit customer advocates: check
Failure to meet any of your own deadlines or promises: check

You failed and this is now undeniable.

Unbelievable!

I didn't see this before, how is it possible that you guys are still backing this company?

I voted Grapefruit Cheesy but to be serious for a second I think any kind of mining centric company is going to automatically go bankrupt sooner or later, it's fine if you want to do that as a side thing but I've decided I refuse to have anything to do with it, the numbers just don't ever add up even for the reasonably honest companies, I'm talking about both the ASIC companies as well as the ones that are essentially renting out hash power.

Put your money in somebody that has a long term plan and wants to make a real business, just dumping it all in hashpower is short sighted and foolish, especially with the way difficulty works with these currencies.

Edit: Just saw the new butterfly labs 'mining' card and I'm in hysterics, it looks like a regular high end Radeon card with a butterfly labs logo on it Tongue

Thanks for the feedback!

BFL and TerraHash are in the same boat as far as I am concerned.

To be in the same boat as BFL, you have to have assholes as your PR too.

The PR for TerraHash are combative and or non-communicative, I guess it all depends on what your definition of asshole is? Smiley
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 24, 2013, 04:40:56 PM
I'm legitimately curious - would you have the same opinion if, for example, you pre-ordered (and paid in full up front) say a PS4 from gamestop and they said no refunds, and then Sony didn't deliver PS4s to their customers, didn't tell anyone what what going on for weeks on end and then came up with some shaky excuses and went silent again and nobody had any idea when or even if the PS4s would ever show up?
Would you just sit back and say yo gamestop it's cool; I know it's not your fault and you've got my money, and I have no merchandise, but I'll just wait until who knows when?
What if the unthinkable occurred and the PS4s never showed up?  What would you do then?

I'll give you a legitimate response.  One that seems to escape most people.  If you buy on pre-order a PS4 from Sony you're buying a 4th generation product from an electronics giant.  A company that's been around for a few decades.  If you equate Terrahash, a company that has only just been created, with the sole purpose of making a bitcoin mining rig with Avalon chips that are as rare as hens teeth, then you're bat shit crazy delusional.

And if in the case of the PS4 being non-deliverable you know that Sony would do a full refund, because the pre-orders they took weren't to fund its development, but a marketing ploy to generate demand and a feeding frenzy.

Be pissed all you want, its an aggravating situation all around, but try at least to hang on to some sense of reality.  Comparing a fledgling company in a fledgling industry to the likes of Sony is one step away from that reality.

Here is the problem with your statement:

The difference is that it doesn't matter whether they are a 100 year old billion $ company or a brand new start-up, neither company can use customer money to fund their business, that is called investing, non of us agreed to invest in their company, did you? would you?

This is not kickstarter!
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 24, 2013, 04:23:42 PM
I wonder why TerraHash have not registered its orders at group tracking page here:
Did something went wrong with ordering chips that tracking data cannot be revealed?

Tracking page:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=277198.0

oh that is proprietary business information that if it got disclosed would ruin our business.
/s

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that they lied about ordering chips?

You somehow think that Terrahash can give you a product right now but are refusing to do so. Again your mind is in fantasy land.

This is not true, no-where have I said that I think that TerraHash can give me a product but are refusing to do so, I don't think anybody has said that at all.

What you are failing to grasp is the shear arrogance, disdain and hatred that Amir and Justin have shown to their own customers.

  • Refusing to answer most or all questions about their business.
  • Refusing to honor refunds when requested.
  • Lying about chip orders.
  • Pulling a switcheroo 2 days prior to opening sales regarding refund verbiage and neglecting to tell anybody.
  • Horrible communication skills
  • Horrible decision making skills
  • lying about what parts they have and when they had/purchased them.
  • Near criminal behavior regarding refunds
