Anyone staking using an atomic pi? Looks like a pretty low cost and low power solution to have your staking wallet on all the time.

I am staking on a RockPi at a comfortable 3.4 Watts usage (when I don't switch on mining). Mind you that I attached a NVMe drive to it, for (among other things) blockchain storage. For pure staking a USB drive would suffice.

Your Pi needs to run a 64-bit OS to run the wallet, so 32-bit Raspbian release are not suitable. Then again: lots of 64-bit ARM Linux releases are available.

Happy staking!

Sounds like the atomic pi will be perfect since its an intel atom x5-Z8350 with 2gb ram and 16gb flash on board. Will probably have to move the chain over to a usb drive in the future as it grows

Is there any guide for setting up masternodes on Windows?

I had one on a VPS under linux. But same parameters are not working on a windows one.

Maybe bitcore.conf needs additional parameters. Any idea will be appreciated.

Is this a windows VPS or are you trying to run a masternode from your home?

I'm testing with a local pc before deploying on remote systems.
What would be the difference?

I have the port open and reachable. Same MNs keys as before.
Debug console shows..

12:27:33 mnsync status
12:27:33 {
  "AssetID": 999,
  "AssetName": "MASTERNODE_SYNC_FINISHED",
  "AssetStartTime": 1591715971,
  "Attempt": 0,
  "IsBlockchainSynced": true,
  "IsMasternodeListSynced": true,
  "IsWinnersListSynced": true,
  "IsSynced": true,
  "IsFailed": false
}

bitcore.conf in remote PC as follows..

rpcuser=whatever
rpcpassword=whatever
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8555

externalip=my ip
masternodeaddr=my ip:8555
listen=1
daemon=0
logtimestamps=1
maxconnections=64
masternode=1
masternodeprivkey=XXxxxxXXxxxxxxx

Local wallet masternode.conf updated for remote PC ip, start alias.. shows PRE-ENABLED.. then EXPIRED

You might need to setup port forwarding in your router to the local IP you are running your masternode on. I assume you are aware of all the dangers of running a masternode on a local system as opposed to a VPS and why it is better to keep it on a vps.

Very cool program, just setup a node on a vps and realized I am late to the party for the Global Full Nodes Incentive Program. My fault for not looking more closely at the dates

I might as well leave the node up for a month since I set it up

Wishing everyone much luck with this project

Hopefully they will change the mining algo so we can get this hash rate under control and a better hash rate distribution to all the pools.

Dont bother trying to stake this coin.
I have "staked" 1000 coins for over a month now, and got ZERO returns...completely pointless.
Unlike normal staking where you simply fget a fixed percentage, you have to "WIN" a block to get a share, and unless you have 1000's of coins , no chance.
You may have more luck in the various "staking pools" who knows

From what I can tell you would need at least 6000 coins to stake a few times a month and something like 50000 to 60000 coins to stake every day. It seems that if you have at least 6000 coins then it would probably be worth it to stake them on a low power device like the atomic pi. It would be nice to hear from others with 5000+ coins and if they are getting any stakes monthly with that amount.

Interesting marketing strategy to get people to sign up for an exchange, I have a feeling as those tokens start to get unfrozen the value will drop quite a bit.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What I can do with GTX1070 ? on: January 15, 2020, 08:52:53 PM
I would put two of them in a computer case and use it as a nice desktop setup then let it fold for the good of humanity when its sitting idle.

10 dollars a day.   lol

It was possible when rewards sometimes gave you 100-500 coin per block, but its not as likely now with the average block reward being a constant 24 coins. If you started mining after the fork happened you probably did very well.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to prepare for summer? on: January 11, 2020, 04:56:41 PM
I am lucky enough to live in a climate with low humidity so swamp coolers work well in the summer and they move tons of air. You can get a Bonaire Durango that will move 5000 cfm and keep everything nice and cool while only using 200-300 watts depending on your settings. This only works in low humidity climates otherwise you are better getting off with a high cfm fan or two and doing a push or push/pull type airflow setup to keep the heat out of the room.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it Possible to mine Cryptonight coins with Nvidia cards? on: January 11, 2020, 04:31:44 PM
If the price of the GPUS is not an issue I would go for the 1080 cards since they will give you a better hash-rate and you can use them for memory hard algorithms in the future if you decide to mine something else. The 1080 cards will give you better density but will require more power and more energy to cool.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to clean Asic Miner from Oil of Immersion Cooling? on: January 11, 2020, 01:31:59 PM
guys hello, the only spray that I can find local is the WD 40

https://www.amazon.co.uk/WD40D-N-A-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B006UCJ5WQ

Because it doesn't have the title flux remover spray, and is 5 times cheaper than the others, do you believe that is can do the job?

Thank you.

According to the manufactures video and reviews on amazon it looks pretty safe to use on electronics, check out the reviews on amazon and you will see people using this on computers and other electrical components. I think for that price it worth giving it a shot  https://youtu.be/-qTMK7SpfYk
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best CPUs for Mining Monero RandomX | Monero RandomX Overview & Review on: January 11, 2020, 01:22:53 PM
I would love to get my hand on the new 64 core threadripper and test it out on multiple cpu mined coins although with a $4,000 price tag you would be unlikely to ROI on it soon enough if you are one of those ROI miners.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My first mining rig (GPU) on: January 11, 2020, 01:13:38 PM
With $2,000 would I be better off buying an ASIC or just buying $2,000 in coins.

You could go half and half by building a nice AMD Ryzen pc($1000) setup with Ryzen 3700 and a RX5700 GPU allowing you to mine monero with the cpu and eth or other coins with the GPU. Spend the rest on the coins of your choice. Worst case is you realize mining is not for you and you have a very modern pc that you can use in your business or a kick arse home computer. Asic miners are noisy, put out tons of heat and they are junk once the difficulty reaches a certain point.

Anyone staking this coin and if so do you have an optimal stake size you are staking in order to get the best results given the recent network change and growing difficulty?

i am staking this coin. 40k averages for a daily stake. Smiley if you want you could join a staking pool https://veruscoin.io/getVRSC.html there are several available.

That is a nice chunk, sounds like its not worth staking unless you have a chunk like that and stake pools seem pretty inconvenient. I appreciate the feedback and wish you continued success with your daily staking.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LBRY.IO - DICUSSION THREAD on: January 01, 2020, 12:44:21 AM
What caused the price to go up suddenly?

Its hard to point to a specific event, but I am guessing its a combination of youtubers upset with youtubes policy moving over to LBRY. I also notice some people trying to hype LBRY by making sure their videos show up on the trending page of LBRY by using large sums of LBRY to make sure their content is discovered. Lbry is a pretty cool platform and the continued improvements that have been made to the platform over the years will speak for themselves.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Troubleshooting A 6 1080 TI Graphics Card Mining Rig on: December 29, 2019, 11:09:52 AM
Evga power supplies are pretty solid especially the platinum versions as I have yet to have one fail on me with constant mining use over years. I did have a Evga gold power supply die on me, but it had a pretty decent life span so I am not that concerned.

Thanks for the video, I am sure it will be useful to those getting started

Absolutely agree. Not a single EVGA P2 one has failed me thus far either but couple Seasonic Gold ones have already failed me in past few years.
EVGA is definitely a top tier. Though high quality server PSU's are way cheaper and work the same if not better than consumer grade PSUs. The only downside to them is that they're super loud, like ASICs.

A server psu is ideal if you are not in the same room with your mining rig otherwise you will need some kind of ear protection to be around them for any length of time. I have a setup with a server PSU but it is in a room that  I seldom go in so I know exactly what you are talking about.
