i cannot see why the market price shall have any relevance, for me only the functionality has. This, i believe in this coin, and own it independant of the market price. And i like it because of no lying PR. The only thing is, that other technicians should know that this technology exist.
Functionality has a price. Namecoin cannot exist without mining Mining costs joules. Joules are not free.

... I mean, for me it would make some sense to make it sync with the block reward period which is 210000 blocks. 2016 is not a factor of 210000.
Was this done deliberately? Yes, of course it was, but why? ... Why did Satoshi not sync this to the block reward period and use 2000 or 2100 blocks(which are both a factor of 210000), which 2000 as most obvious round number.
...
Regarding syncing with the block reward period, there was also some intent to avoid having both occur simultaneously to decrease the variability of having two events occur at the same block. Sounds legit, thought of this also. Then we can also completely ignore that this was my 2016th post... Got nothing to do with it... Edit,.. and my activity being exactly half of it, 1008...

I know 2016 blocks is roughly two weeks, but why did satoshi chose this connection of the protocol to the 'real' world? I mean, for me it would make some sense to make it sync with the block reward period which is 210000 blocks. 2016 is not a factor of 210000.
Was this done deliberately? Yes, of course it was, but why? Was this number chosen as some sort of 1337 hint to this 2016 election year?
Why did Satoshi not sync this to the block reward period and use 2000 or 2100 blocks(which are both a factor of 210000), which 2000 as most obvious round number.
Since bitcoin is a global internet phenonemon it doesn't make sense to me to sync the difficulty adjustment with 2 earthly weeks.
Personally I stick with the 1337 explanation until I see another reasonable explanation.

[...] - Technical Analysis [...] History doesn't repeat but it often rhymes.

... I lost 1 mBTC once and was able to bruteforce it back because it was located on an address which was constructed by an algorithm. It's comparable with HD wallets which generates all future addresses based on a seed. As long as you know the seed you are able to recover all the coins.
How do you brute force your coins back? Since https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover and https://github.com/magnumripper/JohnTheRipper could not do what I wanted I learned some python and made a script myself. I still knew which algorithm I used to construct the private key so I just had to check al 70 million possibilities My script was slow in the beginning, a whopping 7 keys/second/core! But I managed to speed it up to 2000 keys/second/core using stuff from https://github.com/weex/addrgen. With this speed I was able to retrieve my mBTC within a day. Hooray. After that I let it run to see if others were as stupid as me. There was. One. A used address with some similar construction to create the private key. There had only be 7 mBTC stored on that key, but another scriptkiddy probably took the money before me so that I didn't have to think what to do with it because it was an empty address again. No way it was financially profitable to let the script run but I learnt a lot during the process.

This makes me wonder about twenty years from, and all the people with Bitcoin who died. Unless they told someone who they can trust and gave them their password, it will all be gone.
Isn't it fantastic!

I think that is closer to what he wants, but what he is really talking about is something like this: 5supersecretprivatekeyEeiWPBaZM4o6frexXvmko6
Aha. I don't think it is possible because not all characters are allowed, just like with the bitcoin address.

I don't believe there is an option there to use a custom private key as he asked. Yes there is, under "wallet details" You can enter a private key in format: WIF, WIFC, HEX, B64, B6, MINI, BIP38 For example, the private key for Base6 address "1425342302314253423023142534230231425342302314333323023142534230231425342302314 25342302314253423023" is "5JMBJfgXCPpxB5HjiVJB4YvZ2wv4M6z3wqbTjtPqFKMCEC4E2jL" I think that is close, but given what he wrote, doesn't seem to me to be what he is asking. Maybe it is though. I think what he wrote comes down to a brainwallet for which there is also an option under 'brain wallet' edit: The asociated public and private key for his "supersecretprivatekey" passphrase randomized with SHA256 are: 12f3na5TXRs4itNi9i1TCeSsXkny7A1hxp 5KHHB79dmtJHA5QfGXa5rtHdWDrx8EeiWPBaZM4o6frexXvmko6

If you lose your private keys (and the bitcoins on them) it is over, 0 chance to recover.
Although you are right for most cases, I lost 1 mBTC once and was able to bruteforce it back because it was located on an address which was constructed by an algorithm. It's comparable with HD wallets which generates all future addresses based on a seed. As long as you know the seed you are able to recover all the coins.

Litecoin will see a major crash with no recovery within the next 5 weeks. Mark my words. 5 weeks.
OMG, just another 3 days!!1!

Could you add a month time interval to the charts? Some data became so old that it is not possible to see the complete history anymore, especially on mobile devices with limited resolution. Custom time interval could also be handy.

When the "Ethical commission" of Rabobank limited the possibilities to buy bitcoin from bitonic around November 2013th I quit my account there and moved to ABN amro. When they called me to ask why, I told them to go fuck themselves
Never had any problem (yet) with ABN afterwards
I suggest you do the same, also when they ask you why.
edit: OMG, I became legendary...

Nogmaals, timing is altijd lastig.
